## HOT TOPIC: 2026 Special Events
Pam Bowman shared a presentation of the upcoming 2026
community special events. The presentation is attached to these
notes.
## CHAIRPERSONS UPDATES
## CHARTER COMMISSION - Donald Collins, Chairperson
They have not recently met, so there is nothing new to report.
They will have a meeting in the fall.
## ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION - Bryan Beaudoin,
## Chairperson
• We received an update from the Police Department. Chief
Andy Youngquist attended an EDC meeting and presented
information on the crime, parking, and other police
activity. Chief mentioned the PD gets calls for service due to
someone that may be unruly downtown in the later hours on
the evening. PD, Staff, along with Council are working on
solutions. Some of the biggest needs to support the PD
include ongoing recruitment and retention. The use of
technology is a focus for the department including the City’s
camera system.
• The EDC held the annual Anoka Enterprise Park meeting in
March. It was well attended. Topics included the Anoka Area
Chamber and manufacturing relating to careers for younger
job seekers. Also presented was information on the updates
to Green Haven (the driving range, and improvements to the
bunkers) , Hwy 47 future improvements, and development
project updates.
• The EDC received updates on the Anoka Cannabis Company.
The store is doing well. Staff discussed with the EDC one
possible use of revenue is funding a city social worker
position.
• The EDC has heard and discussed the MI Homes project on
Green Haven Golf Course. The project had gone through the
land use approval process finalizing the preliminary plat, PUD,
site plan, and related zoning and comprehensive plan
amendment changes.

•The EDC has discussed options for the existing Northstar Rail Station and City owned ramp. City Staff has
been working a push to bring the Borealis or a whistle stop for the Empire Builder to the existing station at the
