Moved by Mr. Martin [0:22:45] · Seconded by Unknown [0:22:46]

Discussion centered on the logistics and cost of the marching band trip for 60 students and 14 chaperones. Concerns were raised about the use of school buses for long-distance travel, driver compensation, and mechanical contingencies. Mr. Ciphford, representing the band, explained that using school buses was essential for affordability, allowing full participation. The overall cost to the district was set at $4,324, with families covering the remaining portion.

Approval and Adoption of Support Staff Compensation Plan (7.1)

8-0 Approved

Moved by Mr. Martin [0:26:55] · Seconded by Unknown [0:26:56]

The board discussed and approved the support staff compensation plan for 2026-2030. The Superintendent clarified that 10 days was the accurately negotiated and intended number, correcting a prior typo that indicated 11 days.

I would like to extend my deep gratitude to everyone at Clinger. Everyone that I have ever spoken to has been truly dedicated to their job and to the students.

Public Comment: Gratitude for Klinger Middle School Staff

I respectfully asked the board to consider whether our policies allow enough discretion for distinguishing between an aggressor and a student acting in self-defense.

Public Comment: Student Safety and Bus Camera System Review

I also urge the board to review effectiveness of the bus camera system. So like when the bus is out parked in park and that stop sign is not on, outside cameras don't work... I'm asking for fairness, transparency, and com and a commitment to improve student safety so that no other family has to experience what ours has.

It was a wonderful trip. The best part was the kids really um say bonded, but it was a great learning experience for the kids in the band. Um we paid for all of it ourselves through band funds and then through you know parent funded. Um but it was such an invaluable experience and I think it's really brought our band together.

Mrs. Depalo [0:18:25]
Approval of William Tennant High School Marching Band Trip to Ohio State University (5.6B)

So definitely the number one thing for that is affordability for the students going on the trip. Um unlike a lot of field trips we talk about uh marching band we have a show on the field and every single kid that is part of the activity has their own dot on the field.

Mr. Ciphford [0:20:15]
Approval of William Tennant High School Marching Band Trip to Ohio State University (5.6B)

I'm in favor of them going on a trip, don't get me wrong, but I I feel more comfortable if you're using private transportation rather than school buses to go that that distance.

Previously, the error was that it said they would receive 11 sick days, but the number in parenthesis was 10. And in correcting to make that match, we effectively removed a sick day from that uh pool of employees.

Mr. Saddowski [0:27:15]
Approval and Adoption of Support Staff Compensation Plan (7.1)

when we went back and reviewed um our negotiations at the time... in that chart we did in fact to balance out some of the adjustments make that a 10day for two 17-day employees. And so the way it is now with 10 days and uh in parenthesis 10 is in fact accurate.

Superintendent Lucabal [0:27:50]

The word team is different in every building. So individuals get certified. Right now we use a system called CPI which is crisis prevention intervention. There are many other systems out there. That's the system that we use right now to train and certify individuals.

Dr. Hopkins [0:30:30]
Policies Presented for Adoption (8.2A-G)

No p I did not mean a pun there. um that that's something that every district has to really think about as to whether or not you would go into crisis prevention intervention with a child who does not have an IEP and have that type of intervention stated in their IEP.
