Votes (4)

Authorization to Employ Assistant Director of Student Services (6.2D)

6-2 Approved

Dissent: Mrs. Crossen, Mrs. Lynch

Moved by Board President (implicit) · Seconded by Board Member (implicit)

Public concern was raised by a community member regarding the proposed candidate's alleged involvement in abuse incidents at a previous school district. The community member also criticized the lack of transparency in the hiring process and suggested cronyism within the district's administration. A roll call vote was requested by community members.

Leaves of Absence Approvals (6.2E)

8-0 Approved

Dissent: None

Moved by Board President (implicit) · Seconded by Mr. Hartline

A board member questioned the varying durations of leaves, some extending for over a year, and the inconsistent number of paid days allocated to employees on leave. He requested clarification on the district's policy regarding the length of leaves and the criteria for determining paid leave days, which the Superintendent agreed to provide at a later date.

Approval of Revised Assistant Superintendent Job Description (7.4)

8-0 Approved

Dissent: None

Moved by Board President (implicit) · Seconded by Mrs. Crossen

Discussion focused on the proposed five-year contract for the Assistant Superintendent, which was noted as inconsistent with the Superintendent's three-year contract, creating an overlap. It was also clarified that this position would now have a standalone contract, unlike the previous 'assistant to the superintendent' who was under an Act 93 agreement, a change attributed to the candidate's specific certification.

Appointment of Dr. Michael Zachon as Assistant Superintendent (7.5)

8-0 Approved (after amendment to include 'Dr.')

Dissent: None

Moved by Board President (implicit) · Seconded by Mrs. Crossen

A minor housekeeping item was raised regarding the omission of 'Dr.' from the name in the signature block of the employment agreement, despite it being present in the main body of the document. A motion to amend this clerical error was made and passed before the final vote on the appointment.

Notable Quotes (7)

I'm here before you again tonight to ask for some discussion um and some transparency around your hiring processes and also to express concern about your proposed candidate for the position of assistant director of student services who was recently implicated in the abuse allegations at Central Bucks School District.

Nicole Lynch [18:00]
Authorization to Employ Assistant Director of Student Services (6.2D)

because right now the only logical conclusion many of us can draw is that Dr. Lucabaz bringing in his friends and former co-workers with little to no oversight from the board and this smacks of cronyism.

Nicole Lynch [18:40]
Authorization to Employ Assistant Director of Student Services (6.2D)

My questions I guess are just twofold. One, what's a policy to to extend these till for virtually for a year and number two, how come there's different configurations of number of days that the person is eligible to get with pay?

Mr. Martin [26:10]
Leaves of Absence Approvals (6.2E)

so Mr. Martin to to answer your question and not having um direct access to some of the specific information in some of these situations they are leaves that were approved from HR. They could be anything ranging from medical to FMLA and matters of that nature. There are also leaves at times for folks to pursue um advanced degrees and things of that nature.

Dr. Lucal [27:30]
Leaves of Absence Approvals (6.2E)

It is a five-year contract. Um, it's inconsistent with the superintendent who has a three-year contract. So, there would be an overlap in this.

Mrs. Lynch [33:55]
Approval of Revised Assistant Superintendent Job Description (7.4)

the previous employee in that position was um an assistant to the superintendent due to issues of certification. The recommended candidate with that certification and letter of eligibility is an assistant superintendent. So as such with that change in phrasing and that driven job description uh it is a standalone contract.

Dr. Lucal [35:05]
Approval of Revised Assistant Superintendent Job Description (7.4)

The employment agreement states Dr. Michael Zakon. The authorization of the agreement only has Michael Zach on if I'm saying it correctly. Um I do not know why doctor is not included in the signature at the finalization of the contract as it is mentioned in the initial employment agreement.

Mrs. Lynch [37:10]
