[0:25] Welcome into Spring Lake Park High [0:27] School. We're here 2 days before [0:29] Christmas getting you set for another [0:31] Cat Clash on North Metro TV. Boyce High [0:34] School hoops on tap tonight as the 3 [0:37] and2 Spring Lake Park Panthers host the [0:40] undefeated and 6 and0 Blaine Bengals [0:43] alongside Tim Anderson. I'm Matt Dean [0:45] and it should be a good one. Two teams [0:47] that like to push the pace, Tim. The [0:49] Panthers, we saw them last week playing [0:51] better basketball. They've chained [0:52] together back-to-back wins, but [0:54] undoubtedly the story Blaine their best [0:56] start in at least the last 25 years. [0:59] They're six and0 to start the season. [1:01] >> Yeah, it's only because the we can't [1:02] find records that go back any further, [1:04] but the big key for them so far has been [1:06] the play of their guards. Sophomore [1:07] Henry Sebins has been great and the [1:09] senior slasher Shiloh Aite is off to a [1:12] fantastic start. When we saw them a [1:14] couple weeks ago against Centennial, he [1:16] dropped 26 in that win. Also 28 against [1:18] Anoka the last time out. And he's [1:20] getting it done from all over the floor. [1:22] He can slash. He can get to the rim. He [1:24] can shoot threes. 28 against Anoka the [1:26] last time out. And he's getting it done [1:28] from all over the floor. He can slash. [1:29] He can get to the rim. He can shoot [1:31] threes. He can pull up and hit the jump [1:33] shot on you. He is the complete package [1:35] and it makes him impossible [music] to [1:36] guard. It's going to be a real test [1:38] tonight for Spring Lake Park. [1:39] >> Yeah. coming off his season high in a [1:41] big win, maybe their most impressive of [1:43] the season, dropping 28 in the win on [1:46] Thursday at Anoka. A nice road win for [1:49] the Bengals and last year's section [1:51] champs in 74A. So, watch for Aayite to [1:55] shine as the senior guard leading things [1:58] the near 20 a game score over on Spring [2:00] Lake Park. And hopefully you watched our [2:02] broadcast last week and you know all [2:03] about Nolan Myron. When Myron went down [2:06] with a knee injury, this guy stepped up [2:08] huge with a season high 14 last Tuesday [2:11] in the win against Centennial. [2:12] >> Yeah, not a surprise, right? The [2:13] quarterback, he's the leader of the [2:15] football team that wins the state title. [2:16] The competitive spirit comes out in a [2:18] moment when they really needed him. And [2:19] that was huge. Now, the turns out the [2:21] good news on Myron is that he's okay and [2:23] that he's playing tonight. But what they [2:24] found out was that, hey, Nolan Roach can [2:27] be depended on to hit a big three-point [2:28] shot when we need it. He can make some [2:30] free throws when we need it down the [2:31] stretch. I look for [music] Roach to get [2:33] some run tonight and especially in the [2:34] fourth in the second half late in the [2:36] game. I expect him to get some looks. [2:38] >> We got a festivist matchup between the [2:40] Panthers and the Bengals. When we come [2:42] back, the airing of grievances will [2:44] commence. Also, the Bengals and the [2:45] Panthers will tip off on North Metro. [2:54] An apple core or potato peels. That [2:57] leftover pizza you promised you'd eat. [2:59] you. [2:59] >> Those dirty napkins and paper towels. [3:02] >> Stop treating us like garbage. [3:04] >> Did you know up to 30% [music] of what [3:06] you're throwing away could be composted? [3:09] Composting gives your discards new life [3:11] which can be used to improve soil. To [3:14] learn more about the new organics drop [3:15] off programs available throughout the [3:17] county [music] and get your free starter [3:18] kit, go to anacount. us/organics. [3:29] The Bengals and the Panthers about to [3:32] tip off a cat clash two days before [3:35] Christmas. Alongside Tim Anderson, I'm [3:37] Matt Dean. And these two teams will face [3:39] off twice this season. The rematch [3:42] coming up January the 27th in Blaine and [3:46] two [music] teams that split a pair of [3:48] meetings last year. Let's take a look at [3:50] these starting lineups for visiting [3:53] Blaine. You will see three seniors, a [3:56] junior, and one sophomore in the [3:58] starting lineup. Blaine will have [4:00] leading scorers. Shiloh Aayite [4:02] headlining [music] that group averaging [4:03] nearly 20 a game. Henry Seammens is the [4:06] talented sophomore averaging 17. Olsen's [4:09] the junior. Gimpa and Clark rounding out [4:12] the starting five. Uh two seniors, that [4:15] is Aaron Jeepson and Nolan Mein the [4:17] leading scoreer for the Panthers with [4:19] three juniors. Uh rounding out that [4:21] group of Spencer Deo and Roach for SLP. [4:25] It is 610. Aaron Jepson getting set to [4:29] take the opening tip for Spring Lake [4:31] Park. He'll win it away from Gavin [4:32] Olsen. And a little 50/50 ball thrown [4:36] off a number two Cal Spencer. And it's [4:38] Blaine basketball to start the day. [4:42] >> Going to see what they can do under the [4:43] basket. You get your first opportunity [4:45] in a half court set, a set play. We'll [4:47] see if they can get Aayit out on the [4:50] perimeter. [4:51] >> Owen Clark, the Blaine point guard, is [4:53] the trigger man. 5'9 senior guard. We'll [4:56] flip it in here to Aayite. [4:59] Iet coming off a 28point performance [5:03] last Thursday in the win against In Noa. [5:05] That is a season high for Shiloh. And he [5:09] got to over 30 in a couple of games last [5:12] year as the leading scoreer for the [5:13] Bengals as a junior. Here's Seammens. [5:15] pulls up after driving around the wheel [5:18] and had to get that shot off as the [5:19] clock was winding down. Shot it over to [5:22] point but it didn't fall. [5:24] >> Good defense by the Panthers. Didn't [5:26] give [cheering] in even though Blaine [5:27] spaces the floor. Beautiful great back [5:28] door. [5:29] >> Got to pick up Nolan Myron rolling to [5:32] the basket and Nolan Roach. A nice job [5:34] to find him with the Nolan connection. [5:38] >> Two nothing Spring Lake Park to start [5:39] the day. Here's Myron jump in the [5:41] passing lane and an easy lefty finish at [5:44] the 10. Myin with a first four for [5:46] Spring Lake Park. [5:47] >> And that was thrown off completely. Not [5:49] a great pass in the back court. It led [5:50] to a telegraph look coming back. Lane's [5:53] got to be a little cleaner offensively. [5:55] >> Tula Ginta gets into the hands here of [5:58] Aite. First steal for Myron. And an [6:01] early turnover as Roach mishandles it. [6:04] But batted out by Aayet just ahead of [6:06] us. Just over a minute gone here in [6:09] Spring Lake Park in the Panthers of the [6:11] first four. And [6:12] >> so far, they're matching Roach up with [6:13] Aayite. Now, he's going to give up size [6:15] and speed here, but Roach is going to be [6:16] tenacious. And I think he's already [6:18] starting to be a pest with Aayite. 63 [6:21] senior guard against the sixfooter in [6:23] Nolan Roach, the Panther quarterback. [6:27] This one bounced inside here to Olsen. [6:29] He'll get it back up top. Iay pulls up [6:32] just inside the three-point arc and it [6:34] doesn't roll. [6:35] >> He likes that shot, too. I look for him [6:37] to try to make that later in the game [6:38] here. But that one came up short. Good [6:40] defense again by the Panthers. Getting [6:42] what they want on the offensive end, [6:44] defensive end. [6:46] >> Henry Seammons trying to get it inside [6:48] to Jeepson. Double team collapses. They [6:50] get it out to Roach. Cashes in for the [6:53] triple. That's good basketball right [6:55] there. You feed it inside at the elbow. [6:57] You kick back out when you draw the [6:59] defensive coverage. Roach was wide open [7:00] for the three. [cheering and applause] A [7:02] 7 nothing Panther run to start the day [7:05] and an unforced error by Blaine as they [7:07] turn it over for the second time today. [7:11] Roach hitting that big three-pointer. [7:13] He's a 33% three-point shooter on the [7:16] year and that is his fifth make of the [7:18] season. He's got what three of those [7:20] five on North Metro TV this year. That's [7:22] right. [7:24] >> We were here last Tuesday for the [7:26] Panther win over Centennial. They've [7:30] chained together back-to back wins and [7:32] we'll say that is going to stay on this [7:34] Spring Lake Park end of the four. The [7:36] [cheering] Panthers followed up last [7:37] Wednesday's win against the Cougars with [7:40] a 5850 victory over Iron Dair. And in [7:42] the meantime, Bernie Ward, his team [7:45] undefeated in year number two as the [7:47] head coach of the Bengals. A 6-0 start, [7:50] the best for the Bengal program in at [7:52] least the last quarter century. And how [7:55] about the Anoka High School grad getting [7:58] a big win, the first of his coaching [8:00] career against his alma moater last [8:02] Thursday in the tornadoes, the reigning [8:04] section champions in seven. [8:06] >> Yeah, it's a different tornado team than [8:08] last year for sure, but hey, a good win. [8:09] Probably kept the basketball. [8:12] >> Spring Lake Park and Myron turn it over. [8:15] Has to slow it down. [8:18] >> Olsson finds the back door cutter. [8:20] Seammens little right-handed [cheering] [8:22] flip off the line. Blaine looks a little [8:24] out of sorts, maybe even a little tired, [8:27] just not quite in sync here with each [8:29] other. Panthers taking advantage early [8:31] on. [8:31] >> You're 0 for three shooting to start the [8:34] day and a pair of turnovers to go along [8:36] with it. Probing is Cal Spencer picks up [8:39] his dribble. Tried to find the back door [8:42] cutter and threw it away as the point [8:45] couldn't corral it. Is Bernie Ward the [8:47] first head coach to wear joggers? [8:50] >> We'll get back to that. Oliver Major is [8:52] the head coach who will not return Lake [8:54] Park. [8:55] >> Fourth season for Oliver Major, but a [8:58] longtime assistant as we've talked about [9:00] under Grant Guzie. He's been at SLP for [9:02] north of 20 years as a teacher, [9:05] assistant coach, and now head coach of [9:08] the Panther basketball program. It's the [9:10] Hotel California basketball. You can [9:12] check out anytime you like, but you can [9:13] never leave. [9:15] >> There's Tula Ginta. a little wild as he [9:18] started dancing into the lane and it [9:20] kicked off the ankle there of Spencer. [9:21] It'll stay with the Bengals. [9:22] >> And that's not where Blaine's going to [9:24] be good. They get it done with spacing [9:25] in the pass. They don't get it done with [9:27] the dribble quite like that unless [9:28] they're in open floor space type stuff. [9:30] Great pass there though. [9:32] >> Yeah, great way to break out of the [9:33] drought. Aayite little easy one under [9:35] the basket there to break the 70 Panther [9:38] run to start the day. Three minutes [9:41] played and it is 7 to2 SLP. Here's Myron [9:45] with a rock. Finds the point. Worked [9:47] around to Roach in the left wing corner. [9:49] He'll switch the field. Spencer with a [9:52] corner three. Cash. And you start [9:54] getting the three-point shot going for [9:56] the Panthers. And this is a dangerous [9:58] team. They have really gotten out to a [10:00] cold shooting start from beyond the arc. [10:03] This is thrown out to Aayete. He'll try [10:05] for the left wing. Lid on the rim. No [10:08] rebound to Roach. And it's another one [10:10] and done for Blaine. As a team, the [10:13] Panthers came in shooting 25% from [10:15] three. Myron will draw the contact and [10:18] get to the line here. [10:19] >> Two things right there. First of all, [10:20] every every time Aite shoots, I think [10:22] it's going in because he just has a [10:24] beautiful form. I also was really [10:26] interested to see how Nolan Myron would [10:28] react to getting hit to driving to the [10:30] basket, getting hit. And obviously, he [10:32] played great against Irondale. You're [10:33] stepping up with speed and some strength [10:35] here with Wayne tonight and it's just [10:37] good to see that he doesn't show any ill [10:39] effects of of taking that fall last [10:41] week. No knee sleeve, no nothing and [10:43] he's still fearless going to the basket. [10:44] >> Yeah, we saw him go down with that knee [10:47] injury last Wednesday against [10:49] Centennial. We weren't sure. Okay, he's [10:51] got a maybe it was an ACL. Fortunately, [10:55] it wasn't. We thought he's going to miss [10:56] at least a couple of games, but he comes [10:58] back and that win against Irondale sets [11:01] a new careerh high with 34 points. So, [11:05] no worse for the wear. Nolan Meyer and [11:07] he missed four minutes and not even a [11:09] game. [11:10] >> Beware of the injured basketball player, [11:11] I guess, is what you have to do. [11:13] >> Here's Aayite. Long distance triple from [11:16] just off the top of the wheel and he's [11:18] got the first five for the Bengals. [11:21] There you go for Shilohite getting one [11:23] to drop from the outside. But I really [11:26] like how Spring Lake Park's playing in [11:28] basketball. They're spacing the floor [11:29] beautifully. They're getting it done [11:30] with the pass. They're almost playing [11:32] Blaine's game right now. [11:34] >> Mean with five early points, the leading [11:37] scoreer for the Panthers right now. [11:39] Little pump fake by Dep Point. Took it [11:42] inside. Missed the shot and they're [11:44] going to call an offensive foul I [11:46] believe on Jeepson. Yeah, Jeepson kind [11:48] of cleared out it looks like as you can [11:50] see the miss here. Yeah, you can see he [11:52] kind of goes over the top of Olsen [11:56] tries to take that one away. [11:59] >> First foul of the game on Spring Lake [12:01] Park and thus the first for Jeepson [12:03] here. [12:05] Be walked up by Aayite over the timeline [12:07] finds Tullea. [12:10] >> Fans still coming into the game. We got [12:12] some late arrivals. [12:13] >> Late arrivals. [12:14] >> All the late arrivals are right next to [12:16] us. It's like a Los Angeles crowd. It's [12:18] like a Lakers game here. [12:20] >> Here's Olsen. No try from three. [12:24] Offensive rebound by Ginta. He's blocked [12:27] by Myron. [12:31] Here comes Cal Spencer. Tips along to [12:34] Myron with Genta getting his hands in [12:37] there and Spring Lake Park trying to bat [12:39] it along the baseline. Couldn't keep it [12:41] in play. Third turnover for Spring Lake [12:44] Park. 1229 to go and the lead still at [12:47] six for the Panthers. [12:48] >> Yeah, you got to protect the basketball [12:49] when you're in the paint like that. When [12:50] you're driving on these Blaine players [12:52] cuz they have the quickest hands, they [12:54] can really get in and swat. They get a [12:55] lot of turnovers. [12:58] >> Got a few new players coming in. Do [12:59] Royce Mills came in at the last [13:02] stoppage. Aiden Lavoc, who's a freshman [13:05] guard who's played sparingly this year [13:08] for Coach Ward. He's only got one [13:09] varsity point on the season through the [13:12] first six. He's out there as well. [13:14] Number 33. [13:15] >> Played quite a bit in that Centennial [13:17] game, but was really more of a [13:18] facilitator of the offense. [13:21] >> Mills number five, the other new player. [13:23] He's a transfer from Park Center in his [13:26] first year of the Bengals. [13:29] Here's Aayite with it behind the back. [13:30] Tries to drive. Switches back to the [13:33] right hand. What a move. Iet with seven [13:35] early. [13:36] >> Yeah, he's got all seven. It's because [13:37] he can just do things when offense is [13:39] out of sync. You can just put the ball [13:41] in A's hands and say, "Get us a basket." [13:44] >> You could say the same for Myron, but he [13:47] nearly turns it over here. They're going [13:49] to say a reach in by one of the Bengals. [13:54] >> That's on Royce Mills. He'll pick up his [13:56] first team second. And Ty Wilkinson now [13:59] back on the floor um for the Panthers to [14:03] give them a little bit of tenacity. [14:06] >> Yeah, he really adds a lot. only a three [14:08] a game scorer off the bench, but when [14:10] you need some energy and some defense, [14:13] you bring in Wilkinson, one of the state [14:15] champion football players for the [14:17] Panthers. Him and Roach with their uh [14:20] head football coach, John Stewart in [14:22] attendance. We usually see Coach Stewart [14:24] here, at least this season. Aayite off [14:27] the line there on the pullup. [14:29] >> Good nice job by Jeepson to punch that [14:31] out towards Myron. [14:33] >> Oh, what a move. A nice little step [14:35] through to the right and casts off for [14:39] the made shot. It's a long two for Nolan [14:42] Mein to get him to seven. That ought to [14:44] be illegal, man. That was incredible. [14:47] Soul stealing move. And Aayite lumbers [14:50] his way to the basket. The little stop [14:52] and start and the lean in to get him a [14:55] point shy of double figures. [14:56] >> Well, I says, "I accept your challenge [14:58] in this game, of course." And comes back [15:01] with a nice shot of his own. Almost a [15:02] steal there by Weird. Wilkinson able to [15:04] corral it. Tries to flip it in on [15:06] Jeffson. And how about the defense from [15:07] Aayit to step in and strip it free. [15:10] >> Quickest hands. I'm telling you, Blaine [15:11] can get a ton of steals just because [15:13] they work so quickly around the [15:15] basketball. [15:16] >> Here's Aiden Lavic, the 510 freshman [15:19] guard. There is some youth in this [15:21] lineup for Coach Ward. Seammens, the [15:23] sophomore, number two, a starter. And [15:26] then Lavic coming in and getting some [15:28] minutes. Do Royce Mills, his first shot [15:30] for the floor. Doesn't go, but the [15:32] Panthers turn it over. Iet forcing the [15:35] takeaway and can't cash in. [15:38] >> Basically a one-man show. All nine [15:40] points. [15:41] >> Tough shot for Spencer. Can't get it to [15:43] roll in transition. [15:45] >> Starting to get the feel though like [15:46] Blaine has kind of found their sea legs [15:48] here a bit as they start to reel in the [15:50] Panthers. [15:51] >> Mills finding Iet rotates it now to [15:54] Gavin Weir who just checked in at the [15:56] last stop. But you see Blaine going a [15:58] little bit deeper into their bench [16:00] early. They certainly have the edge in [16:03] depth in terms of going to the bench as [16:06] Spring Lake Park's currently [16:08] constructed. Now, there are a couple of [16:10] injured guys from football season that [16:12] will eventually be coming back for the [16:14] Panthers. They're going to get to Roach [16:16] with the reaching foul here. One of [16:18] those SOP football players that's [16:20] healthy right now picks up his first. Uh [16:23] Colin Welch and Sawyer Thompson we saw [16:25] kind of walking around, shooting around [16:28] lightly but in street clothes before the [16:29] game today. [16:31] >> Probably get close though would be my [16:32] guess. [16:33] >> Oh, good job by Wilkinson there. Almost [16:35] got the steel there. There's a wrist [16:37] injury. There's a finger injury. I think [16:39] we said it last week. It's like hearing [16:41] about the litany of horrifying injuries [16:43] that all the Stanley Cup playoff guys [16:45] were playing through after the year [16:47] comes through. But someone's got a [16:50] finger problem. Someone's got a wrist [16:52] and they're still working their way [16:53] back. Here's a step and a takeaway here [16:55] by Henry Seammons. He gets it pushing [16:58] the other way. Both teams will trade [17:00] turnovers though as the Panthers nip it [17:02] right back. [17:04] >> Seaman's off to a play. [17:07] >> And Myron will draw the contact here and [17:10] earn himself a trip to the strike. Myron [17:12] just needs, you know, a couple inches [17:14] basically is what we're starting to see, [17:15] right? because it doesn't look like [17:16] there's much there, but he splits the [17:17] defense and weir has no choice but to [17:20] foul him with the body because he's not [17:21] going to be able to stop him. [17:23] >> Interesting. Bernie Ward sat Seammens [17:26] fairly early and now has brought him [17:27] back in maybe to try to see if he can [17:29] settle into this game a little bit more [17:30] because the sophomore looks a little bit [17:32] rattled is off to a bit of a tough [17:34] start. And normally that happens with [17:35] young players if they don't make a f [17:37] those first couple shots. You miss a [17:39] few, you start to press, you start to [17:41] rush. [17:43] Myron two of three from the foul line to [17:45] start the day. He came in shooting just [17:46] shy of 70% from the free throw line on [17:50] the year. He's three of four to start [17:51] the day and a point shy of getting to [17:54] double figures. You shouldn't ever miss. [17:56] That form is so silky. [17:59] >> I got nine to lead Blaine. As we [18:02] continue to marvel at those two top tier [18:05] scorers, here's Owen Clark reminding us [18:08] he's out there for Blaine. point guard [18:11] shows off his three-point shot. He's [18:13] been about 25% now. Four of 13 from [18:16] beyond the arc of the season. [18:17] >> He can catch in rhythm. He can make [18:19] them. [18:20] >> How about that save there by Aiden [18:22] Lowry. Got it into Spencer, but it's [18:25] going to be a tie up forced by Blaine. [18:28] And the possession arrow is going to [18:29] favor the Bengals. [18:30] >> So, this is more of a defensive lineup [18:32] on the floor for the Panthers, right? [18:33] you go Lowry and Pelky, but then you're [18:36] going to expect Myron and and uh you got [18:38] Myron and Spencer to do the scoring on [18:40] the top with Wilkinson being sort of [18:42] tenacious on the wing. [18:44] >> James Pelky number 25, the 66 forward. [18:47] He's the one that handed it off there to [18:49] Spencer. Myin and Spencer playing catch [18:52] with it. Cal Spencer second leading [18:54] scoreer just shy of double digits. He's [18:57] averaging on the season 9.8. Here's [18:59] Wilkinson taking it in. A wild shot [19:02] doesn't go for the Panthers. And now a [19:04] scrapford on the floor. Pelky getting in [19:07] there. They're going to get him for the [19:09] foul on Mills. [19:10] >> Yeah, Pelky is just kind of elbows and [19:12] knees right now as he hits the floor. [19:14] He's just sprawling a little out of [19:16] control. And right here, he loses the [19:17] basketball, but keeps fighting for it. A [19:19] little bit of a nickel and dime. Both [19:21] guys kind of battling for that, but [19:22] Pelky gets that call against him. [19:24] Myron's going to sit for a couple. [19:27] And this was a big key in the game that [19:29] we saw last week. What the Panthers can [19:32] do. Can they hold down the fort when [19:35] Myron is not out there? Remember a guy [19:36] scoring 27 a game six games into the [19:40] season. Here's a try from three. [19:41] Seammens knocks it down to the hand. In [19:44] his face, it was Wilkinson. Both him and [19:46] Clark on those last couple possessions [19:47] catching it in rhythm. That looks a [19:50] little bit more like Blaine offense. A [19:51] lot of scoring here early on from the [19:53] from the three-point line. 14th [19:55] three-point make for Seammens. He leads [19:57] the team in that category as Seammens [20:02] nearly forced to steal on the touch line [20:05] here just over to our right. It'll stay [20:07] with Spring Lake Park and Roach [20:08] Chalimba. So, you might want to look at [20:10] see what the Blonde Bombers do here with [20:11] Wilkinson and Roach. If they work a [20:14] little twoman game, set some picks, be [20:16] aggressive, maybe you can get some clean [20:18] looks here cuz this is a pretty good [20:19] lineup on the floor for Blaine with [20:21] Seammens and uh Droce Mills and Aayite. [20:25] Pelky to point and Lowry, the other [20:27] three in the floor for the Panthers in [20:29] blue along with Wilkinson and Roach. [20:31] Here's Wilkinson trying to arc it inside [20:33] to Pelky. Bit of a wild pass and a [20:36] fortunate bounce and it stays with the [20:38] Panthers. [20:38] >> Yeah, this is where you like to say you [20:39] got to read the room. That's what that [20:41] is right there. Uh, you got to see what [20:43] you have. And when you're looking at [20:44] three Bengals and one Panther, that is [20:47] not in your favor. Not a great look [20:49] right there. Wilkinson just needs to [20:51] take a take a deep breath before he [20:52] throws passes like that. [20:54] >> Panthers have not trailed at any point, [20:57] but they throw it away. And now a chance [20:58] for Blaine to take their first lead. [21:00] Panthers went in a 70 run to start the [21:03] night. Aayid with a chance at the lead [21:05] and it left it short on the three. Yeah, [21:08] a little flat on the release. Didn't get [21:09] any arc. [21:12] Wilkinson resets to Jacob Deo. [21:15] Get it back to Wilkinson off the left [21:17] wing. 7:30 to go first half. Pelky [21:19] arcing it inside and there's Jeepson. [21:24] >> That's the big man, twoman game. We [21:26] haven't seen those guys play on the [21:28] floor together a ton this year. But [21:30] that's a combination that coach Major [21:33] wants to get going for the Panthers. [21:34] Able to play with a little bit of a [21:35] bigger lineup like that. [21:36] >> A little high low action with your bigs. [21:38] It kind of opens the floor up. And [21:39] again, if you're going to throw a little [21:40] lob, you throw it to your big guy. [21:44] >> 6'10" in the future W lacrosse Eagle. [21:48] Aaron Jeffson averaging just shy of nine [21:50] a game. Looked good out of the hand for [21:52] Owen Clark. Follows his own miss. Clark [21:55] a little wild as he tried to throw it [21:56] out to the three-point arc and gives it [21:59] up for Bla. [22:00] >> Jeepson kind of I would say a little bit [22:03] of a nonchalant pass right there as he [22:06] went crosscourt to Dep Point. ended up [22:09] being a turnover and that's got to be a [22:10] layup. When you get a chance to run in [22:12] the broken floor, you've got to run with [22:14] some urgency there and it looked like [22:16] Jeepson was just sort of sauntering up [22:19] this near side thinking they had the [22:20] easy twoon-one layup. And you want to [22:23] press yourself to the basket when you [22:24] get chances like that. Eight early [22:27] turnovers for Spring Lake Park here in [22:29] the first half. 640 to play in the [22:33] opening 18 here a couple days before [22:35] Christmas. Seammens with a long three. [22:37] He's got that kind of range. [22:39] >> Couldn't cast off from there. Wilkinson [22:41] with a strong rebound. Initially had it, [22:44] but a good hustle there by Lavic, the [22:47] freshman to force the tie up and keep it [22:49] with Blaine. [22:50] >> And Seammens clearly is being told, [22:51] "Hey, keep shooting." I mean, even [22:53] though we've missed some shots here, we [22:54] want you to keep shooting. Big part of [22:56] the offense here. It's a big lift for [22:58] the young sophomore. [22:59] >> I thought about it. He had Jeepson on [23:01] him. gets switched off here to Roach [23:05] and Aayite working it into the paints. [23:08] Throws one up with a right hand. [23:09] Couldn't get it to roll. Another try for [23:12] Seammens. He's off with a three-pointer [23:14] and Jeepson [cheering] [23:16] caught it up in the face there. [23:18] >> Yeah, I mean Oliver Major's got a case [23:20] there because he literally I don't know [23:22] if it was the basketball that just kind [23:24] of bounced off him or if he took Yeah, [23:26] he took a face a hand to the face from [23:28] Shiloh Aayete. And Jeepson's got a case [23:31] there, I would say, and so does Oliver [23:32] Major. [23:33] >> Yeah, nothing malicious for Aayit. To be [23:35] fair, he probably hasn't played a lot of [23:36] 610 guys. He probably I'm not used to a [23:39] face being there. That probably should [23:41] have been [laughter] a foul. [23:43] >> And maybe that's the problem. It's like [23:44] the old Shack rules, right? It's hard to [23:46] hard to officiate a big man sometimes [23:49] with feed. [23:50] >> There's Jeepson trying to get it back on [23:52] the other ends. Doesn't [23:54] >> roll through the out of his eye. That's [23:56] the problem. I don't think it's that I [23:58] don't think it's that matter. [24:00] 1715 and again Blaine have not led after [24:04] going down 7 nothing here to start the [24:06] game inside six to play in the first [24:08] half but good on them they hung in there [24:10] they weathered it they've started to [24:12] find a little more offensive rhythm and [24:14] this looks more like Blaine right look [24:16] at this rotation and look at how they're [24:17] moving without dribbling now they put a [24:19] little dribbling [24:22] >> with 5 seconds to shoot takes it into [24:24] the lane flips it back out long three [24:27] for Seammens as the buzzer pounds and [24:29] that's a shot [cheering] clock [24:30] violation. [24:32] >> And yeah, I think Bernie Ward's trying [24:33] to say at least it hit some rim. [24:35] >> Yeah, that that shouldn't have been a [24:36] shot clock. [24:37] >> Yeah, they got it off in time and it [24:39] didn't hit and it hit some rim. That [24:41] should be in play. [24:44] >> That's a missed three-point shot in in [24:46] my book. So, apologies to Henry [24:48] Seammons, but that's a ding in your [24:50] three-point percentage in my book. [24:53] >> I'm ignoring the call. There's Myron [24:55] taking it in, and he gives it up for [24:57] Spring Lake Park. Easy bucket for Shiloh [25:00] Aayete to get him to double figures. [25:03] He's got 11. [25:04] >> And I think the key is composure for [25:06] Spring Lake Park. Had a couple fouls [25:08] that maybe you haven't gotten [cheering] [25:10] and that's going to be an offensive foul [25:11] underneath and it just hasn't gone your [25:13] way here the last couple of minutes with [25:15] the whistle. So now you got to have [25:17] composure in these moments and let's see [25:19] how the Panthers respond to some of [25:20] these calls. [25:22] >> Unofficially the 10th turnover for [25:25] Spring Lake Park here. [25:27] We don't see the call right there. It [25:29] might have been just a little show. They [25:31] think they got him with a little arm [25:32] right there which moved Olsen around him [25:34] is what I'm guessing. [25:38] >> Ait will walk it across the timeline [25:41] here for Blaine. [25:44] Finds the hands of Aayit again. Little [25:46] teardrop shot. Banks it in as he goes [25:49] around Pelky. [25:50] >> Iet is basically saying, "Hey, just get [25:52] on my back here. I got this thing." [25:55] 1917 Blaine with their first lead of the [25:58] day. [26:00] >> Myron couple of jab steps gets by [26:02] Aayite. Throws a baseline Roach. Nice [26:05] cut there. Some good offensive movement [26:08] to get it inside to Lowry and a foul on [26:11] Blaine before the shot as Lowry was [26:13] trying to dish to Pelky here. [26:15] >> Yeah, it's it's unfortunate too because [26:17] they they took away the ability for [26:18] Lowry to go up and get this in the act [26:20] of shooting. It's probably a good call [26:21] that he's on the floor there. goes [26:23] against Aayit, his first. And that one [26:27] Oh, that's that was tipped off of Bla. [26:29] >> Oh, they're saying deflected on just no [26:32] touch. And Oliver Miller's like, man, [26:33] this whistle is not going our way right [26:35] now. [26:38] >> Yeah, that that to me, we had a really [26:40] good angle at it. That tipped I think it [26:43] was what, Seammens for Blaine? Number [26:44] two, I thought so. It tipped off one of [26:47] the white shirts on its way out. It's a [26:49] tough break for Spring Lake Park who've [26:51] shot themselves in the foot with a lot [26:53] of turnovers already tonight, but that [26:55] one out of their hands. Tula Genta [26:58] [cheering] to his right hand. Couldn't [27:00] finish. Strong rebound underneath by [27:02] Olsen. Second chance for Genta outside. [27:05] That one's offline. Olsen got a touch to [27:08] it, but they're going to call a push [27:09] underneath. That might be a bit of a [27:11] makeup call because Oliver Major is [27:13] heated on that side cuz I think they [27:15] wanted to travel in the paint on Gavin [27:17] Olsen and that's why you see coaches [27:20] pulling Oliver Miller away a little bit. [27:21] Oliver Miller. Oliver Major. I'm [27:23] thinking of the big man from the Phoenix [27:24] Suns. That's not you, Oliver. You're [27:26] [laughter] great. Uh you are more spelt [27:30] than Oliver Miller was. But Oliver had [27:31] to yank him away. Uh and again poise [27:34] it's going to be key here over the next [27:36] few minutes for the Panthers on Wilson. [27:38] Great pass. Myron wide open as he glides [27:42] to the rim. 11 points for Nolan Myron. [27:45] Him and Aayite the leading scorers. I's [27:48] got 13 for Blaine. Bengals are just [27:50] watching the basketball and that's on [27:52] that. They didn't watch the players and [27:53] you got to have an eye on Nolan Mein at [27:55] all times. [27:57] >> Tied back up at 19 a piece. Our third [28:00] tie score of the half. And they're going [28:03] to get number five Aiden Lowry for a [28:05] reach there on AI. Well, it's not the [28:08] cleanest last seven minutes of [28:10] basketball we've seen, Matt, after a [28:11] pretty good start. It's been a little [28:14] sluggish, but you can definitely see the [28:15] intensity picking up between these two [28:17] teams. [28:20] They just about played 15 here in the [28:22] first half. Three to go into inside to [28:25] Olsen. Little twoman game here in this [28:27] left side for the Bengals. They get it [28:29] back up top to Lavic. And now Aayite [28:32] [cheering] around the Lavic screen. Ait [28:34] pulls up and hits it with 1 second left [28:38] on the shot clock. [28:39] >> That kid's impressive, man. He can just [28:41] do it all. When you can't stop him and [28:42] he can shoot threes and get to the rim, [28:44] it's just really hard to deal with. He's [28:46] got 16 of the team's 22. [28:50] >> That is I's ninth made three this year. [28:53] He's got two tonight. Trying to save it [28:56] on the baseline. There was I going to be [29:00] a foul on Spring Lake Park. Myron tried [29:02] to go for the answer on this end. Came [29:04] up a little long, but a bounce off the [29:05] face of Ga and that's going to keep it [29:08] here with the Panthers. [29:11] >> Cal Spencer will trigger the inbound [29:13] here for the Panthers. [29:15] Somebody's got to move here. Elky Lowry [29:18] Myron on the floor. Myron the one who [29:21] receives it in the back court. Nolan [29:22] Roach the fifth Panther out there. Myron [29:25] driving gets to his left hand lid in the [29:28] rim that time and the first miss for [29:30] Nolan Myron after he'd been four for [29:32] four from the floor to start the day and [29:34] they just he they just made up their [29:36] mind it was going to be ISO [29:39] >> underneath streaking is Mills off the [29:41] Olsen pass not able to finish and [29:44] they'll say a foul I think is going to [29:47] go against Mills underneath [29:48] >> they call goending there on that one [29:51] which is [29:52] >> man really I don't know if I saw that. [29:55] But maybe I guess I'll I'll take their [29:57] word for it. But either way, now you're [30:00] chasing five. Biggest lead for the [30:02] Bengals tonight. What do the Panthers do [30:04] in this moment? [30:05] >> Yeah. So Mills, yeah, will get the two [30:07] points. His first two tonight. Roach for [30:09] the mishandle. And it's a Panther [30:11] turnover. Their 12th of the game. Mills [30:15] 54% from the floor this year. And was [30:19] this a goalend? [30:20] >> I don't think so. Unless they're saying [30:22] he hit the back [30:25] >> Myron hit the backboard with his hands, [30:27] then I guess you can That's what you'd [30:28] call. But if it's about a touch, I I [30:30] don't see that. [30:33] >> Might have hit the back. [30:37] >> Two minutes [cheering] left to go. [30:39] Blaine has it with Lav [30:44] Ga. Now Ginta passing to Iet [30:48] and he leaves it short on the [30:50] three-point attempt. Iay just shy of 30% [30:54] from three coming in. But yeah, that's a [30:56] that's a a couple of those tonight where [30:58] maybe his legs aren't completely under [31:00] him cuz those were pretty flat. [31:04] >> Not a lot of arc on those last uh on a [31:06] couple of those misses out there [31:07] tonight. [31:08] >> Bling a 5-0 run since the miss shot. [31:13] And remember, they've outscored the [31:15] Panthers 24-2 [31:18] since the Panthers led 7 nothing to [31:21] start. [31:21] >> These teams know that the three-point [31:23] line is closer, right? That that's part [31:24] of the volleyball court where they're [31:26] shooting from. [31:27] >> I followed his own miss and is fouled [31:31] underneath. [31:32] >> I'm like, seriously though, I mean, I [31:34] understand that guys can make it from [31:35] out there, but that's just not great [31:37] basketball to shoot it from the [31:38] volleyball 10T line. like that's that's [31:42] just not a high percentage shot. I would [31:44] like to see some more ball movement and [31:46] try to get yourself an easier look when [31:47] you're chasing five points. Two teams [31:50] that are both under 30% from three on [31:53] the season as a team. I [31:57] some high percentage shots here from the [31:59] line. He's been about a 70% foul shooter [32:02] on the season. 17 points for Aayite as [32:06] we mentioned coming off 28 his last time [32:09] out in the win Thursday against Anoka. [32:11] He scored 20 or more in three straight. [32:16] >> Two shy of that. Yep. Before halftime, [32:18] 18 to lead all scorers for the 6-3 [32:21] senior guard. [32:22] >> And Myron's been a little quiet the last [32:24] few minutes. He's only got 11. [32:25] >> Only got 11. But most of that came early [32:28] in the basketball game. [32:29] >> Here's Spencer probing. [32:32] They work it around this [32:36] defense here for Blaine. Kick out. [32:37] Roach. Corner three. Doesn't roll. [32:40] >> That would have been a big one. That was [32:42] a good look for Roach. Just didn't go [32:43] down. [32:46] >> Mills, Olsen, Aayete, [32:49] Ga, and Lavic. The five on the floor [32:51] here for Coach Wards Bengals. [32:55] >> Gto will drive. Kick out here to Lavic. [32:57] Pitches it inside Aite. He'll peel back [33:00] out here with 15 to shoot. [33:03] Gimpa has it. [33:05] >> Hands it off to Aayit. Tries from three [33:08] straight on from just off the wheel. [33:10] Doesn't drop. A hoop here would be big, [33:12] especially if you can get a quick one [33:15] or even get last shot but make it. Oh, [33:17] that's a foul right there. And they're [33:20] going to say that's a foul on the [33:21] Bengals [33:24] >> right now. A 7 nothing Blame run. 20 [33:29] seconds left to go here in the half and [33:31] they're going to get number 33 Aiden [33:33] Lavic with his first. [33:35] >> Coach Bernie Ward exasperated on that. [33:37] That's even got Dad Phil off the bench [33:41] inside to Myron. Doesn't go. [cheering] [33:46] Pushed up the floor here quickly by [33:48] Mills. 10 seconds. [cheering] Shot clock [33:50] off here. End of the first half. Mills [33:52] throws it out into traffic. Gives it up [33:55] to Spring Lake Park. And they're going [33:56] to get a reaching foul in there as [33:59] somebody got in and clipped number five [34:02] Aiden Lowry. [34:02] >> Yeah. And that's going to be a one and [34:04] one. And Coach Ward's argument is he's [34:06] out of control. How can you call us for [34:07] a foul when he doesn't have control of [34:09] the basketball? And I think I understand [34:11] that. So maybe both coaches might go to [34:14] the locker room a little bit a little a [34:17] little miffed, I guess you could say. [34:19] Want to talk about an airring of [34:20] grievances. [34:22] Lowry hits the front end of the one and [34:24] one. He's four and nine from the strife [34:27] to start the season. Pelky will come in [34:29] and replace Jeepson with 3.4 seconds [34:33] left on the clock here in Spring Lake [34:36] Park. Lowry, the 6-4 senior forward at [34:39] the line. [34:41] >> Second foul shot. [34:42] >> This is big though, Matt, to get these [34:43] free throws here at the end of the half. [34:44] You can make it a five-point game here. [34:46] Yeah, there you go. [34:47] >> He snaps the seven nothing run that [34:50] Blaine had going. and they really [34:51] struggled making free throws last week [34:53] when we saw them against Centennial. So [34:55] that's big confidence for them to be [34:56] able to knock down a couple before the [34:58] half. [34:59] >> Only about 60% as a team for Spring Lake [35:02] Park early in the season still. And [35:06] Aayite will cast off. Misses the final [35:09] three of the half. And Spring Lake Park [35:12] able to trim that deficit to five just [35:15] before the break. 2621. [35:18] Bain with a late push and they lead it [35:20] here at the break on North Metro TV. [35:49] Dean and Tim Anderson back with you. [35:51] Here it is. Right now the Panthers [35:55] leading the Bengals 26-21 and some [35:58] redecorating in order here at the Spring [36:01] Lake Park High School gym football state [36:03] championship early this year. And a [36:05] couple of those Panther state champions [36:07] were involved in the first half, but it [36:09] was all about the yearround basketball [36:12] guys. Nolan Meyer averaging 27 a game. [36:16] He's the leading scoreer for Spring Lake [36:18] Park at the break with 11 and Shiloh [36:20] Aite who had come in three straight [36:23] 20point games, showing it off from the [36:25] inside and the outside. He leads all [36:28] scorers with 18 points at the half. and [36:31] Aayit just putting on a show with his [36:33] whole bag of tricks. Meer and you can [36:35] say the same. I I think two guys are a [36:38] little bit similar, Tim, in that they [36:40] get it done with their athleticism in [36:42] the lane, but can step out and hit the [36:44] occasional three. [36:45] >> I think they also understand like when [36:47] their team needs a bucket that they can [36:49] go get it. Blaine started off really [36:50] cold in this game. Nolan Myin came off [36:52] to a great start. They jumped out 70 and [36:55] it was Aayite doing all the scoring for [36:57] much of the first half. has 18 of the [37:00] team's 26 because he realized, okay, [37:03] Seammens isn't knocking down shots. Uh, [37:05] Genta is struggling to get inside. I [37:07] have to go get hoops for our team to [37:09] keep us in the game. He weathered that [37:10] storm and allowed them to get back. And [37:12] Myron had to try to answer. And it was [37:14] two great players kind of duking it out [37:16] in the middle part of the first half. [37:18] Spring Lake Park, remember, jumped out [37:19] to a 7 nothing lead to start the night. [37:23] So, Blaine closed the first half on a [37:26] 2614 [37:27] run. They had nearly double the shot [37:30] attempts of the Panthers because of all [37:32] the turnovers. And Shiloh Ayeti, you saw [37:34] him heavily featured in that highlight [37:36] package. He only needs two more points [37:38] and he's got his fourth game in a row of [37:41] 20 or more coming off the season high [37:44] 28, his last goound at Anoka. Nolan [37:48] Myron, a bit of a quiet first half by [37:50] his standards. That being said, he's [37:52] already 211 and does a lot with his [37:55] activity with those long arms, reaching [37:57] into the passing lanes. He can rebound [38:00] and we saw him getting to his left hand [38:03] a lot in that first half. [38:04] >> Yeah, his basketball IQ is is off the [38:06] charts. I mean, he's so silky, so [38:08] smooth. He's got a great handle. He can [38:10] handle the basketball. He can rebound. [38:12] He can shoot threes. And he knows when [38:14] to dish it off, when to take over. You [38:16] don't see him take a lot of bad shots. [38:18] Uh he doesn't force a lot which is [38:20] really fun to see. He's just a complete [38:22] basketball player that that kind of just [38:24] sees the whole floor. Panthers are not [38:26] good enough though to have the kind of [38:28] turnovers they had in the first half. [38:29] They have got to take care of the [38:31] basketball here in the second half. They [38:33] got to protect it and they got to get a [38:35] lot of good looks at the rim. You cannot [38:36] afford to get into a track meet with the [38:38] Bengals. [38:39] >> Unofficially 12 turnovers for the [38:42] Panthers in that first half. They've got [38:44] the first possession here as they shoot [38:45] on this hoop. To our left in the Panther [38:47] Gymnasium, they got this student section [38:50] at their back. No class tomorrow and it [38:52] is well filled out here in the Panther [38:54] gym as it should be. I mean, every [38:57] night, but especially you got no [38:59] homework as an excuse. [39:02] >> Roach. [39:04] >> Roach will pull up from just off the [39:06] elbow and has the shooters roll. Roach [39:09] had one made three-pointer. Panthers [39:12] were two of five from beyond the ark. [39:14] Blaine were four of 15 shooting from the [39:17] three-point stripe. Shiloh Aayete much [39:20] more successful in the lane and he's got [39:23] himself a fourth straight game at 20 [39:25] points. [39:26] >> And if they're going to try to guard him [39:27] one-on-one with Nolan Roach, that's not [39:28] going to work. He's going to need help [39:29] at the rim. Good drive by Myron. Just [39:31] couldn't finish it. [39:33] >> Myron shooting four of six from the [39:35] floor in the first half with a miss [39:37] there. And this one thrown away. Aayite [39:40] will scoop it up. Left it off the bottom [39:43] of the rim, but is fouled. And Aayite [39:46] will head to the line here. I think [39:48] they're going to get number three, Jacob [39:50] to point with the foul. [39:51] >> Yeah, I think so. Yep, he got him. You [39:53] kind of pulled him down there at the [39:54] end. [39:58] >> Already working on a 20point game. [40:00] That'll be the points first for Spring [40:03] Lake Park. [40:06] Tayite also a high jumper on the Blaine [40:10] track team. He's got one of the the top [40:13] five best high jumps in Blaine school [40:16] history as well. Multport athlete. He's [40:19] been out to a little bit of a slow start [40:20] from three-point range. He was two of [40:22] seven in the first half, but he was a [40:25] near 40% three-point shooter last year. [40:28] So, you got to figure those numbers are [40:29] going to start to round more into their [40:32] career averages. We've got uh the [40:34] officials headed over to check out the [40:36] basket here on the end the Panthers are [40:39] shooting at and that is our official [40:42] Lamar Sullivan going over there and [40:44] giving us the thumbs up. But it's all [40:46] good. [40:46] >> All right. Glad we checked that out. [40:48] >> I would imagine coach Major had a [40:50] question of whether that basket was [40:52] level or not. [40:52] >> It does look a little wonky over here, [40:54] doesn't it? But maybe that's just where [40:56] we're sitting. [40:58] Aayit will knock that one through from [41:01] the foul stripe. 21 points for Shiloh [41:06] Aayete. The fans arriving back for the [41:08] second half again casually late for [41:10] this, but now they're trying to walk on [41:12] the floor. [41:13] >> Nolan Roach. A little behind the back [41:15] pass. Well read by Tula Gimpa. Roach [41:18] will steal it back on the other end. [41:19] >> Boy, that's great hustle by Nolan Roach [41:21] to get back after the turnover. [41:24] >> Didn't need the hot sauce on that behind [41:26] the back pass. [41:29] There's Cal Spencer handing off to Nolan [41:31] Myron. 20 to shoot. Myron pulls up on [41:33] the right wing, left it short. Might [41:35] have got a hand on that one too as it [41:37] went up. That is Myron's first attempt [41:40] from beyond the three-point arc tonight. [41:43] >> He is a 33% shooter there. Leads the [41:46] Panthers with 11 three-point makes. Not [41:48] a great three-point shooting team. Are [41:51] the Panthers good well read here. Yep. [41:53] Jacob to point hustling for the [41:55] Panthers. He's got to beat on the [41:57] other end and obliges. Jacob de Point [42:01] not on the score sheet in the first [42:02] half. The 6-2 Junior lays it in for a [42:05] deuce. [42:06] >> Good job on defense. You got to get [42:07] guards. Your best offense can sometimes [42:09] be defense. If you can get some steals [42:11] and run in the open floor. Big lift for [42:13] a team like Spring Lake Park. [42:16] >> Blaine finished the first half at a 2614 [42:19] run after they were down 7 nothing. [42:22] weathering the storm and maintaining a [42:24] the four-point lead that they had at the [42:27] break. Here's Kima gliding to the basket [42:29] and lays it off the window for his first [42:32] two on the day. And Spring Lake Park, [42:34] the problems creeping up with turnovers [42:36] again. They had a dozen in the first [42:38] half, their second so far here, the [42:40] second. [42:41] >> And it just feels like they're just [42:42] rushing a little too fast. Like just [42:44] take it easy. We're not The ball went [42:46] under the seats. Oh, that's no good. Do [42:49] we only have one basketball? [42:50] >> We've got to have another one. a job. [42:52] This is a job for Shiloh Aayete. [42:54] >> Oh, Shiloh is going under. I wouldn't [42:56] send him under there. This is where you [42:57] got to get that guy on the bottom at the [42:59] back of the bench. [43:02] >> That is not Lamar Sullivan's job. Now [43:04] they're announcing on the public address [43:06] system. Is there a little kid they're [43:07] asking that wants to wants to crawl [43:10] under [laughter] the bleachers? [43:12] >> That's not a move for you either. [43:13] >> Tim, are are you are you apt to crawl [43:15] under the bleachers? [43:16] >> Oh, there you go. Nolan Roach got it. [43:17] You know, well, see Nolan's used to that [43:19] cuz he gets so low under center. We did [43:21] have a little kid volunteer who I mean [43:23] he jolted. [43:25] >> He wanted that opportunity which I don't [43:27] blame him for. [43:29] >> I want to get a shot of the kid that was [43:30] ready to crawl under the bleachers. [43:32] [laughter] But Nolan Roach chated. [43:34] >> See Nolan gets so low under center for [43:36] football. He's used to that low crouch. [43:41] >> 1520 left to go. Reaching in to tip that [43:43] out of bounds. Outstanding hustle from [43:45] Jacob Deo again. [43:46] >> Yeah, De Point doing a nice job [43:48] defensively here at the start of the [43:49] second half. Busy hands getting in the [43:51] passing lanes, hustling. That's what [43:53] you're looking for. [43:54] >> Two points, only two attempted shots, [43:57] but [43:58] finding his way to impact the game. [44:00] Inbounded here to Owen Clark. Clark [44:03] tries to throw it off the hands. Cal [44:05] Spencer with a steal here for Spring [44:07] Lake Park. [44:08] >> And this is where somebody's got to tell [44:09] Spencer that Owen Clark is coming with a [44:11] full head of steam behind you so that [44:13] you can stop, grab the basketball, and [44:15] protect it. It was poked away by Clark. [44:18] Clark will sit for Blaine. Do Royce [44:21] Mills [44:22] will come on here for the Bengals. [44:24] >> Like to see Jeepson become a bit more of [44:26] a factor offensively. [44:28] >> Jeepson is the third leading scorer for [44:31] Spring Lake Park. Averaging just shy of [44:32] nine a game. Myin goes up. Seemed like [44:36] there was contact from Aayite. Not [44:37] called. [44:38] >> Felt like a tug of the jersey, too. [44:42] >> Superstars got to get a call here. [44:44] Olsson dishing the three try by [44:46] Seammens. He stays cold. He is one of [44:49] five from beyond the arc tonight. [44:54] >> Here's Spencer with it for SLP. [44:56] >> That's good defense by Gavin Olsen to [44:58] deny Jeepson. [45:00] >> Fronting him on the inside. [45:02] >> They work it around, get it to Jeepson [45:05] anyway. Almost had the roll for a [45:07] three-point play, but Jeepson will head [45:09] to the line. You mentioned wanting to [45:11] see him get more involved. Jeepson only [45:13] attempted three shots in the first half, [45:16] only two from inside the paint. So, he [45:19] is now one of three from the floor today [45:22] and only sitting at two points, which he [45:25] scored in the first half. [45:26] >> And I think, yeah, they're going to want [45:27] him in that 12 to 15 range points-wise [45:30] because when you have a player as [45:32] athletic and as tall as him, it's an [45:34] advantage. You have to take advantage of [45:36] that when you have him. And uh I like to [45:38] see him be assertive. When he got that [45:39] ball, he went right up and that's what [45:41] drew the contact. [45:42] >> This is only the second time he's gone [45:44] to the free throw line this year. That's [45:46] his first miss. Three of four from the [45:49] Charity Stripe this year. 2631 [45:52] Blaine leads it here early in the second [45:55] half. And [45:55] >> I think that number should be tripled. [45:57] He needs to be on the line a ton. [45:59] >> Olsson lit on the rim there as he tried [46:01] from straight on from three. Seaman [46:04] scraps it up off the floor and gets the [46:06] second chance to roll through. Yeah, [46:08] he'll take it cuz he's had a tough night [46:10] tonight. Just five points for a kid [46:11] who's been getting 17. [46:14] >> He was one of six from the floor in the [46:16] first half. Here's Myron. Wrestles it [46:19] away from Mills. Dishes from off the [46:21] baseline. Roach draws the foul. That's [46:23] the right call. Mills contacted the [46:26] elbow there. [46:26] >> Yeah, great pump fake by Nolan Roach and [46:29] Oliver Matrix just with the biggest the [46:31] biggest sigh you ever saw. Like, hey, we [46:33] got one. [46:35] >> Mills will pick up his second. You see, [46:37] good call there. We mentioned the name [46:39] of the official Lamar Sullivan. Tom [46:42] Hanky and Brian Shrieve are the other [46:46] State High School League officials [46:48] here tonight. [46:50] >> Tom Hanky, not the former closer of the [46:53] Toronto Blue [laughter] Jays. [46:54] >> That's That's Hanky that we got out [46:56] there today. [46:57] >> That was Hanky, right? Was the Blue [46:59] Jays? [46:59] >> I think it was something like that, [47:00] right? Yeah. Had the glasses. [47:05] Seven points for Nolan, man. I bring it [47:07] back. Let's bring that back. [47:14] >> Mills will get it inside. I'm trying to [47:15] Shawn Doolittle was a good recent closer [47:18] with glasses, but that's the He's been [47:20] retired for a few years. Uh Nolan Mein [47:23] gets out and blocks the three-point [47:24] shot. [47:24] >> And the sports goggles don't count. So [47:26] like if you're Francisco Rodriguez, that [47:28] doesn't count. They need to be glasses. [47:34] This one inbounded here by the Bengals. [47:36] Henry Seammens will get it out to Mills. [47:39] Worked around here to Olsen. Uh Mills, [47:43] we mentioned number five for Blaine. He [47:44] transferred from Park Center. And that [47:47] is a heck of a program. They've fallen [47:49] off the last couple of years. Aayite [47:52] will pull up. But got to imagine a guy [47:54] who has at least been around a couple of [47:56] the state tournament teams. He came off [47:58] the bench for Park Center. They lost in [48:00] the section semis last year. here. He [48:02] was mostly a a JV guy as a sophomore, [48:05] but around that team that went to the [48:07] state championship game, gliding the [48:09] basket here and laying it through is Cal [48:11] Spencer for two. Five points for the [48:14] Panther point guard. [48:15] >> Well, the Bengals just kind of letting [48:17] the the Panthers hang around here by not [48:19] finishing at the rim enough. Need to get [48:22] some of their guys going a little more [48:23] consistently. Just five for Seammens, a [48:25] couple for Ga. It's been kind of a slow [48:27] night for those second and third [48:28] scorers. Too much work for AI. [48:32] up top to Mills, the former pirate we [48:34] were talking about. He'll drive inside [48:36] on the point. Kicks out Olsen. Tries [48:39] from three. Too strong. Well, they are [48:41] ice cold from the outside. Just [48:44] freezing. [48:45] >> They were only four of 15 in the first [48:47] half. Here's a triple try for Jacob the [48:50] point. Rebounded by Roach who will lay [48:53] it in for two. [48:54] >> It's actually Jeepson who got it first [48:55] and kicked it to Roach. And that was a [48:57] really nice touch pass from Jeepson. [48:58] Really unselfish play. saw an open Nolan [49:01] Roach and got it to him. Roach with nine [49:03] points, playing well tonight. [cheering] [49:05] >> Little tie up between the legs. Spencer [49:08] fighting with Seammens. Still loose [49:11] [cheering] as Seammens had it on his [49:13] backside. [49:15] And they'll award at Panther basketball, [49:17] I believe, on a tieup here. [49:18] >> Yeah, the guard combination of Deo Point [49:21] and Spencer has been a pest for Blaine. [49:23] Those guys are forcing steals. They're [49:26] challenging Seammens. They're [49:27] challenging the guards of Blaine. and [49:29] it's throwing the Bengals out of their [49:30] rhythm offensively. [49:32] >> Yeah, D point is only averaging two and [49:34] a half per game, but we watch him [49:36] tonight and it's really starting to [49:38] become apparent why he is becoming more [49:40] favored in that starting lineup for [49:42] coach Major Byron will draw the foul and [49:45] get to the line. And from a player of [49:47] his caliber, you see how upset he is to [49:49] not finish the field goal try and be [49:52] going for a three-point play here. [49:53] >> Well, that's like three straight and [49:54] ones that they probably should have had, [49:56] but they haven't been able to finish. So [49:57] now they're going to get free throws. [49:58] And Myron's hit some taken some good [50:00] shots. They just haven't fallen here. [50:04] >> Averaging 27 a game. Nolan Myron. [50:08] Last year the Panthers leading scoreer. [50:09] He was just shy of 20 a game. He got to [50:12] north of 20 in 11 out of the 24 games [50:16] for the Panthers [50:18] last year. He got to 30 in a game [50:20] against Rogers on February the 18th. He [50:23] now has 30 points in three of the first [50:27] five for [cheering] SLP this year. [50:29] >> Oh, he's Oh, man. He almost went over [50:31] and back, too. I think they wanted [50:32] travel and over the back on Droyce [50:34] Mills. [50:35] >> 13 right now for Myron. Stay with it. [50:39] >> Kick out deep three and Seammens [50:41] [cheering] [50:42] airballed that triple try. Yeah, Henry [50:45] Seammons is in a funk tonight. And [50:47] again, Henry's a good basketball player, [50:49] but yeah, he is he has been rattled a [50:51] little bit here tonight. And that he's a [50:54] young sophomore. These things are going [50:55] to happen. These are the kinds of games [50:57] that both teams, you know, are going to [50:59] be in at some point during the season. [51:00] These grinded out games where it might [51:02] be played in the 50s. [51:06] >> Roach skipping it along to Jeepson. [51:07] Hands it right back to Roach here. Left [51:09] corner. They're going to get Jeepson for [51:11] a foul. He kind of threw the elbows out [51:13] as he was trying to block and interfere [51:16] with Seammens trying to close out Roach. [51:18] >> Oh, they gave it to Seam. [51:19] >> Oh, they gave it to Seammens. [51:21] >> And boy, I think Yeah, you can see [51:22] >> Jeepson thought the call was going [51:24] against him. You could see he him turn [51:26] right to the official. But yeah, they [51:28] gave that to Seammens. [51:29] >> And now with Seammens and I Oh yeah, you [51:31] take a very quick rest. I think he was [51:33] on the bench all of a minute. [51:34] >> Second on Seammens in fouls. Myron [51:38] follows his own miss from beyond the ark [51:40] and he's going to draw a foul. [51:42] >> And they'll take fouls for for Lavic for [51:45] Aiden Lavic. He'll he'll take all the [51:46] fouls really. [51:50] >> That is Lavic seconds. So they've got [51:53] two on Lavic, two on Olsen, as well as [51:58] two a piece on Mills and Aayite. No one [52:02] in any real foul trouble right now. [52:04] >> Five to one on team fouls though for [52:06] against Blaine. So, oh that's a foul. [52:09] >> Aayite [52:11] and did [cheering] he wrap the elbow [52:13] around and get a little chicken wing [52:14] there? Not enough for it, but he'll head [52:17] to the line. [52:17] >> Yeah, and I think they gave him the and [52:19] one on that one, too. So, he's going to [52:20] get the the chance for the three-point [52:22] play as Roach looked like Yeah, looked [52:24] like he kind of just got right there. [52:26] Wrapped him up and then he still was [52:27] able to float it out there and get it. [52:28] >> I thought Aayite might have gotten [52:30] >> You thought he initiated it. [52:33] >> I might have initiated it, but at least [52:34] he got it to look like Roach did. [52:37] That's what the good players do. [52:39] >> That is the second on Roach. [52:42] >> That's what they say that SGA does so [52:44] well, right? Is he knows how to make a [52:46] foul look like it's on the other team as [52:48] he's initiating it. [52:49] >> 24 points for Shiloh Ait. 28 his season [52:54] high in his last game against Anoka and [52:56] he had a couple of games north of 30 [52:58] last year as a junior. [53:01] Cal Spencer closely guarded by Gavin [53:03] Weir. get it off to Jeepson in the [53:06] corner. Reach in on they'll say a foul [53:09] off the ball here along the baseline. [53:11] >> Yeah, they think they're going to go [53:12] Gavin Olsen. [53:14] >> No, they're going to go Lavoc with a [53:15] pickup on that foul as well. So that's [53:16] three on him. That's 16 fouls. So the [53:18] bonus is coming. That's something to [53:20] think about. 10:30 to play here in this [53:22] game. And for the rest of the way, the [53:25] Panthers are shooting free throws. [53:29] >> In by Spencer Myron will go back to [53:31] collect it. [53:34] They're trying to clear out. I think he [53:36] wants to go one-on-one with Mills. [53:38] >> Little push off there by Myron. Gets [53:40] inside too strong. And they'll say a [53:43] push off underneath the basket as well. [53:46] >> On Myron, I think too cuz they're going [53:47] to say that Myron missed the shot, but [53:49] then pushed Olsen out of the way to go [53:51] get it. Myron's like, "Hey, can I get [53:53] one at the rim?" [53:54] >> My might have got away with one and I [53:56] thought he pushed Mills a little bit on [53:58] his way to the basket. And look, the [54:01] referees have decided it's a physical [54:02] basketball game here. It's 3634. We got [54:06] 10 minutes to play in the basketball [54:07] game. It's not really the most cleanly [54:09] played game you've ever seen. Both teams [54:12] are intense and physical defensively. [54:13] We're going to let some some bumping and [54:15] banging go. [54:18] >> 3634 Blaine by a possession [54:22] inside was weird. Hand it off from Lavic [54:26] to Aite. He'll try to get one to roll [54:29] over. Cal Spencer drops it through to [54:32] get Aayit to 26. [54:33] >> I always thought like Kobe and MJ were [54:35] the two best at that little raise up [54:37] jumper. I clearly put that into part of [54:39] his game. It is so pretty to watch. [54:42] Timeout. Good one. [54:44] >> Oliver Major will take it. First time [54:47] out from either head coach here today. [54:50] >> That is astonishing. I don't think I've [54:52] ever watched a basketball game where [54:54] both coaches were just content to let [54:55] him play and not call some kind of [54:57] timeout. [55:00] >> Alongside Tim Anderson, I'm Matt Dean. [55:03] The story of the game that we open with [55:05] Blaine trying to keep their 6 and0 start [55:08] going into Christmas break. The best [55:12] start the Bengals have had on the boys [55:13] side in at least the last quarter [55:16] century. We're only two years removed [55:18] from Blaine starting a season 0 and6. [55:22] They went seven and 20 that uh that [55:24] year. Head coach Bernie Ward came in [55:26] last season. The Bengals went 16 and 12 [55:30] and lost in overtime to their rivals [55:32] Centennial in the section semifinals. [55:35] And the fun thing about section 74A is [55:38] legitimately there's four or five teams [55:40] it feels like every year that can win [55:42] it. And that's the case again this [55:44] season. Although Blaine, of those six [55:46] wins, uh, five have been against either [55:50] a section opponent, a conference [55:52] opponent, or both. So, they have really [55:55] set themselves up nicely for a number [55:58] one seed in the section, and an early [56:01] contender. It's lower on the list in the [56:03] Northwest Suburban Conference. Tyler [56:05] Wilkinson with the up andunder move [56:07] underneath the basket. He will draw the [56:09] foul and head to the line. [56:10] >> Yeah, Spencer threw a beautiful ball [56:12] there to Wilkinson. Had a chance to [56:13] finish that off. And you're right. You [56:14] know, there's been some people who say, [56:15] "Well, the Blaine Bengals have played [56:17] kind of a soft start to the schedule." [56:18] When you're playing conference teams, [56:20] those games are intense. Those games are [56:22] big. I don't care who you are, when you [56:24] play them, where you play them. Banking [56:25] those wins early matters. [56:28] >> And actually, every game they played has [56:31] been either a section team, a conference [56:34] team, or both. Tonight, it's just a [56:36] conference game. Spring Lake Park in [56:38] that tough section five for with the [56:41] likes of Park Center AIO and presumptive [56:44] favorites Maple Grove this year. [56:46] >> And if they win this game tonight, you [56:49] would say this is a character game [56:51] because it's not coming easy to them [56:52] tonight. They're not going to score in [56:54] the 70s. It's not going to be, you know, [56:56] Harlem Globe Troder fast break [56:57] basketball tonight. This is grinded out [57:00] halfcourt [57:01] stink ball, right? You got to just find [57:03] a way to get to 50 and see if that's [57:05] good enough. [57:07] Olson with a skip pass to Mills. Kick [57:09] out Genta. He got partially blocked [57:11] there by Nolan Myron. Tulenta's shot [57:15] affected there by the long rangy guard. [57:18] Myron listed at 63, but some extra long [57:21] go gadget arms. [57:23] >> Yeah, these Panthers may be a little [57:24] undized, but they are stingy [57:27] defensively. [57:30] They get it into Iet who drives into [57:33] Pelky. Olsen with the follow and the [57:35] foul underneath. [57:37] >> Good job by Pelky going straight up. [57:39] That's why you got no call there for Iet [57:41] but Olsen got hit as he went up for the [57:43] followup. You can see that was Spencer [57:45] who tried to get in the way of Olsen. [57:50] >> Olsen six of 10 at the line this year. [57:54] It's the first attempt for the floor [57:56] today and Olsen with his first point. [57:59] He was 0 for one shooting in the first [58:01] half. 66 junior forward and the leading [58:05] rebounder for the Bengals just shy of [58:08] seven a game this year. He goes one for [58:09] two. [58:14] >> Yeah. Myron with 13, Roach with nine. [58:17] They're looking for somebody to maybe [58:18] get a basket for him here. [58:20] >> Here's Spencer with it on the right [58:22] wing. 20 to shoot as he gets it inside [58:23] to Pelky. Pelky off Myron. Little lefty [58:26] floater on the baseline. Nolan Myron [58:29] with 15 tonight to lead all Panther [58:32] scores. [58:32] >> That's a great feed from James Pelky. [58:34] Good awareness there to get that to him [58:36] in a spot where he could make a quick [58:38] shot. [58:40] >> Gavin Weir out there with Aite, Mills, [58:44] Olsen, and Gima for the Bengals. Here's [58:47] Aite pulling up. Two defenders on him. [58:50] Left it short. [58:52] Good defense again by Spring Lake Park. [58:56] >> Inside to Pelky. [58:59] Pitch it out and they'll reset up top [59:01] here with Spencer. [59:02] >> Plenty of time on the clock. 20 to [59:03] shoot. So, make sure you get what you [59:05] want here and run your stuff. [59:08] >> Myron goes the other way of the screen [59:10] and bobbled it out of bounds. [59:12] >> Oh, Major Oliver Major saying, "How is [59:14] that possible?" Nolan Nolan Byron is [59:19] just in a state of shock that that ball [59:22] was called off of him and not off the [59:24] Bengals. [59:29] >> Here's the other look at it. My [59:32] >> I think he just mishandled it out of [59:33] bounds. [59:34] >> I think he did. Yeah, I think so. I [59:35] think the refs got that one right. [59:38] But when it rains it pours [59:41] >> inside the Gima off his hands and batted [59:44] away here by SLP. Myin off that baseline [59:48] look again. Pelky came crashing hard. [59:51] Almost came up with a rebound and [59:53] they'll say Myron. Did he step out of [59:54] bounds? They're going to call foul. [59:56] >> Yeah, they'll get a foul here. So [59:57] Myron's going to go to the line for a [59:58] one and one. [60:01] >> Was right here. It looks like it's uh [60:05] >> Yeah. Oh man, on Seammens. [60:08] That's four on Henry Seammons and it has [60:10] just not been his night. [60:14] >> It's been a tough matchup tonight. He [60:15] got off to a slow start, missed some [60:17] shots and you could tell he's just not [60:19] in the flow. But I love what coach Bony [60:20] Bernie Ward is doing right now. Well, [60:22] missing the front end. Got to have [60:23] those. [60:25] >> Myron's second foul shot missed tonight. [60:31] And he's four to six. [60:36] Ait with it. 20 to shoot here for the [60:38] Bengals. Dances his way into the lane. [60:40] Nice spin out here to Ginta. [60:43] Ginta will reset up high here for the [60:45] Bengals. [60:46] >> Yeah, 10 to shoot. Defense has been [60:48] good. This is basically a zone [60:52] and a reach. [60:53] >> They're going to get Myron for the foul. [60:55] >> Nah, you didn't need to. Didn't need to [60:56] reach right there. You're playing great [60:58] defense. They're under 10 to shoot. [60:59] They're going to have to get a shot up. [61:01] No need to reach right there. [61:04] >> That's the first on Myron. There's still [61:07] >> Last 20 second shot clock here for Bla. [61:09] >> Still a foul to give for the Panthers [61:10] with 708 to go. [61:12] >> Well, that's there. [61:13] >> Oh, throw trying to find Gimpa. Thrown [61:16] away and instead put through by Aiden [61:19] Lowry. His first made field goal today. [61:22] Lowry with four. [61:26] >> Clark tried to flash in the middle of [61:27] the paint to break down that zone. Good [61:29] two-3 zone shown by the Panthers and [61:31] it's given the Bengals some problems. [61:33] Our fourth tie score of the day, 39 all [61:37] in a rock fight here on Festivist Day in [61:41] Spring Lake Park. Thrown up. Myron with [61:43] the quick trigger on the other end. Boy, [61:46] Myron just put that thing into fourth [61:48] gear and just blew past Gavin Olsen to [61:50] get that loose ball. [61:52] 17 points for Myronin to lead the [61:54] Panthers. [61:57] >> Once again, back into that zone. [61:59] [cheering] [62:01] 4139 SLP leads it, but Aayit with a hand [62:05] in his face knocks it through here for [62:08] Blaine. A monster shot for Shiloh to get [62:11] him a point shy of 30 on the evening. [62:15] >> Shiloh has had to be the one-man show [62:18] tonight, but steal by Droce Mills. [62:22] >> Here comes Mills still pushing. Got tied [62:25] up with Myron. That's a foul. He wanted [62:27] the jump ball. No chance. [62:28] >> [laughter] [62:29] >> My is trying to lobby for a jump ball. [62:31] He had him in a headlock. Oh, that was [62:34] so funny. [62:35] >> Yeah, look, there were a couple of of [62:37] what we perceived to be maybe missed [62:39] calls early in this game by the [62:41] officiating crew, but uh again, this is [62:44] your this is your every day of your life [62:46] reminder to not judge officials based on [62:49] the reactions of the players. It's [62:51] actually a terrible way. [62:52] >> Yeah, it's not a good way to do it. And [62:54] again, I always say as as a it's the [62:57] refs do the best job they can do and [63:00] they really do considering the speed and [63:02] the strength of some of these these [63:04] basketball players on the floor. And [63:05] again, the refs ain't getting younger, [63:07] guys. You know, it's tough. And so we [63:10] got there there's a need for young [63:11] officials. So if you if you think you [63:13] can do as well, just come on out. [63:14] They're taking applications. I think you [63:16] can come on anytime. [63:18] >> This crew of uh they've settled in [63:19] nicely doing a good job tonight. Mills [63:22] will knock through both up there in the [63:24] trip to the line. 4441. [63:27] Blaine leads it. SLP briefly had that [63:30] 4139 [63:31] lead. It was the first time that SLP had [63:34] led since it was 1715 in the first half. [63:38] They work it around the wheel and cash [63:40] in Aiden Lowry for Spring Lake Park with [63:43] some burst off the bench here in the [63:46] second half. Five of his seven have come [63:48] since the break. You need that secondary [63:50] scoring and they're getting it from [63:52] different players. Roach doing a nice [63:53] job. Lowry has stepped up nice tonight [63:56] for them and it's allowed Myron to not [63:58] feel like it's all on him. On the other [64:00] side, Blaine Shiloh has to feel like [64:02] it's all on him. He hasn't gotten that [64:05] secondary scoring that St. Louis that [64:07] Spring Lake Park has had and that's why [64:08] we have a 444 game. [64:10] >> That's Tim Anderson. I'm Matt Dean. [64:12] We're tied at 44 with five and a half [64:16] minutes left to play here in Spring Lake [64:18] Park. Our fifth tie score of the game, [64:22] final game before Christmas for both [64:24] teams. But both these clubs will be [64:26] participating in holiday tournaments for [64:28] Spring Lake Park. They will head to St. [64:31] Cloud for the Granite City Classic. [64:33] Princeton and Davies High School from [64:35] Fargo, North Dakota are their two [64:38] opponents in that tournament. They'll [64:40] travel to Armstrong, Rogers, then [64:42] Columbia Heights for a three-game road [64:44] trip to open up 2026 before they're back [64:48] home against Andover on January 13th. [64:53] >> So, you know, it's a good schedule for [64:54] them, a chance for them to get some [64:56] wins. I mean, some of those teams are [64:57] pretty tough obviously, but good [64:58] matchups. Here's Blaine. I think this is [65:00] a good stretch. This really is for [65:02] Blaine. They can they can really go on a [65:04] run and bank a ton of wins here. North [65:05] St. Paul, White Bear Lake, Rogers, AIO, [65:08] CR, Centennial, some road games there [65:10] for sure. [65:10] >> The next road games are uh in Whitebear [65:13] Lake [65:14] >> for Blaine in the holiday tournament. [65:15] >> You'll be there, I'm sure. [65:16] >> Well, it's Ted Ted Laroo is going to be [65:18] there in his back. [65:19] >> Of course he is. Yeah. I mean, he's got [65:20] [laughter] he's got nothing to do. He's [65:22] going to be right there. [65:24] >> They will take on the hosts, the White [65:26] Bear Lake fighting Jack Janikis on [65:29] December 30th. [65:30] >> That name change just went through, [65:32] right? I think that's they fought that [65:33] for a while and [65:35] >> I think there were a lot of people that [65:36] were for it. [65:36] >> Yeah. [laughter] [65:41] >> 530 left to go. Inbounded [65:43] >> to Gimpa. [65:46] >> And this zone has been really tough on [65:48] Blaine. They have really struggled with [65:49] this. [65:51] >> I he didn't struggle with that shot. [65:54] Hand in his face to get him to 31. [65:56] >> 32. [65:57] >> 32 be your part. [65:58] >> Yeah. Shiloh is taking over. And you [66:00] said, "Hey, he's a better three-point [66:02] shooter than what he's seen, but now [66:03] he's made his last two. Here he comes." [66:05] >> And come in, as we said, south of 30% [66:08] from three. But he shot nearly 40% from [66:12] deep from last year. [66:14] >> And Myron on a reachin by Mills who [66:18] picks up his third there. It'll send [66:20] Nolan Myron to the line here for Spring [66:22] Lake Park. And this is still front end [66:24] one thing. So Myron's got to knock down [66:26] some free throws here. Missed the front [66:27] end on his last trip to the line. These [66:30] are the big ones down the stretch [66:32] because we think free throws are going [66:33] to be a factor here, right Matt in these [66:34] last five minutes. [66:37] >> Four made threes by the way for Aite now [66:40] in this game. And Myron hits the front [66:42] end of that allimportant one and one. [66:46] >> I just willing the Bengals to victory [66:48] tonight is what he's trying to do. [66:50] [cheering and applause] [66:52] >> Still the Bengals by two. They'll lead [66:54] regardless of the outcome of this Myron [66:56] free throw. and he hits the front end, [66:58] but ends up going one for two anyway. [67:01] 4745. [67:03] Bengals still in front. [67:06] >> Staying in that zone, though. They're [67:07] willing to live with three-point shots [67:09] for AI. [67:11] He's just knocking him down. And those [67:12] are zone beaters. [67:15] >> Olsen underhand flip to Gima. [67:18] Ga back now to Aiden Lavic playing with [67:21] the three fouls. Here's Mills who's also [67:23] got three personals. Spins in the lane. [67:25] Mills to his right hand, strolls it [67:28] through. What a finish there by Mills. [67:30] We said best field goal percentage of [67:33] the Bengals at nearly 55%. He gets a big [67:37] high five from his head coach Bernie [67:40] Ward first in over there in the timeout. [67:42] 428 left to play and Blaine have [67:45] extended the lead out to four. [67:47] >> And this is why his field goal [67:49] percentage is so high cuz he finishes in [67:51] the paint a lot. He's not a guy that is [67:53] out there trying to look for three-point [67:55] shots. He's a slasher. Droce Mills wants [67:58] to get to the rim. And that time he had [68:00] an opportunity. He found a soft spot in [68:02] the zone when he cut across and was able [68:04] to take it right to the rim. [68:06] >> Yeah. Just to keep the theme going. Uh [68:08] Park Center, I think, had put in a [68:09] petition to change their mascots from [68:11] the Pirates to the Fighting Brading [68:13] Carringtons. [68:13] >> Oh, is that what that was? Yeah. I [68:15] missed that meeting at the state high [68:16] school date. I'll make sure I'm I take [68:17] notes. basically any former Minnesota [68:20] high school player who's playing for the [68:21] Wisconsin Badgers now. They should [68:23] change their mascot name to that former [68:25] player. [68:26] >> I sit in the five uh the fiveA uh uh [68:28] region board as the speech rep. So, I'd [68:30] be happy in the next meeting to offer [68:32] that up for you and we'll talk it over [68:34] there. [68:36] >> All right, four-point game here for [68:38] Blaine, [68:39] who the Bengals did went on a 94 run to [68:42] close the first half. nearly doubled up [68:45] the Panthers 26-14 [68:47] down the stretch of that first half. SLP [68:49] clawed their way back briefly to a [68:52] two-point lead, but it has been tight [68:55] down to the wire and expecting a good [68:57] finish here in this matchup just a [68:59] couple of days before Christmas here on [69:01] North Metro TV. Cat Clash and NMTV in [69:06] the building for this colossal matchup [69:09] here. Spring Lake Park and Blaine who [69:11] will meet again on January 27th in [69:14] Blaine [69:16] here. It's out to the left wing corner [69:18] and that one offline for Nolan Roach. [69:20] >> Yeah, and every time Blaine thinks [69:22] they've maybe pulled ahead enough, uh, [69:24] Spring Lake Park makes a nice run. [69:26] They're going to need another stop. Here [69:28] are the Panthers. [69:30] That would have been a big three by [69:32] Roach had that gone down. [69:34] >> Four minutes left to play. Here's Olsen [69:36] with it. picks up his dribble on the [69:38] baseline and refinds Mills. Touch pass [69:41] along to Iet. Back to Mills. 10 to shoot [69:44] here for Blaine. Oh, big shoulder check [69:47] there by Lowry. They let him play. That [69:50] was something. That one underneath and [69:54] Aayet with a finish and the foul. 34 [69:58] points for Shiloh Aayet and a chance to [70:01] get to 35 as he heads to the line. What [70:05] a reverse finish there to get it over [70:07] the 610 Jeepson. [70:08] >> And Jeepson was just too slow. He gave [70:10] up the baseline to Aayite. You can't do [70:13] that. You got to stand on that baseline [70:14] and not let him through. Force him back [70:17] out. But you also have to respect his [70:18] ability to shoot the three, which is [70:19] what Lowry did. And that's why Aayit was [70:21] able to pump fake and drive around him. [70:24] >> Jeepson just picked up his fourth foul [70:26] for Spring Lake Park. I at the line will [70:30] cast it through. And that is 35 points [70:34] for Shiloh Aayete, which I believe is a [70:37] careerhigh. [70:39] >> Just a fantastic night. When points are [70:41] at a premium, you get a guy getting 35. [70:44] That's fantastic. Shiloh is just a a [70:47] beast. [70:49] >> And that's going to be it for Lavoc. [70:52] >> Lavoc fouls out the freshman without [70:55] scoring tonight for Blaine. And [70:57] replacing him will be Henry Seammons, [71:00] who's had the tough night shooting for a [71:02] guy who can really fill it up, [71:05] especially from beyond the three-point [71:06] arc. So, Seammens coming on after Lavic [71:09] fouls out [71:09] >> and he's got four fouls as well. So, [71:11] that's something to keep an eye on here. [71:14] >> Oh, yeah. The free throws starting to [71:16] Wayne here for Spring Lake Park. That [71:18] was what I thought was a problem for [71:20] them last week and early in the first [71:21] half they did quite well, but here they [71:23] are in the second half missing some key [71:24] free throws at key times. Both teams are [71:27] barely over 60% from the free throw [71:30] line. [71:32] >> Now Spencer looking to go one for two [71:34] and he'll knock the second through. Six [71:37] for the junior point guard today. [71:41] Mills trying to break the pressure [71:43] thrown at him by Spencer. Nearly got [71:45] trapped in the coffin corner. So a good [71:47] timeout coming from head coach Bernie [71:50] Ward in his second season in charge of [71:52] the Bengals. He's a math teacher at [71:55] Blaine High School. We mentioned a lum [71:57] of Anoka High School and comes to Blaine [72:01] after he was an assistant on the Andover [72:03] coaching staff and was teaching over [72:06] Andover High for the previous three [72:07] years before he came into Blaine uh last [72:10] season. And look, the way that Blaine [72:13] with a lot of the same players [72:15] immediately bought into playing really [72:18] good defense last year just impressed me [72:20] a ton. And the defense has gotten even [72:23] better for Blaine. That last Bengal team [72:26] before coach Ward came in gave up 88 a [72:28] game. Last year less than 76 a game on [72:33] average. They're coming in to play [72:35] tonight on average giving up 57 a game [72:40] and they have held four of their [72:42] previous six opponents to less than 60 [72:45] on the year including 49 by Anoka and [72:49] their highscoring offense last Thursday [72:51] in a road win. [72:54] It's been a it's it's been a group [72:56] effort and as I Shyu Aayete said it when [72:58] we interviewed him last week or a couple [73:00] weeks ago it's really been the energy [73:02] that he's infused that's off the [73:04] stansion but it's the energy that Bernie [73:05] Ward has infused but also like he's [73:07] brought his dad in Phil Ward on the [73:09] bench and they the the kids have just [73:11] really enjoyed his presence as well that [73:14] says a lot right when they buy in and [73:15] they like playing for the coaches it's [73:17] amazing how things start to work. [73:20] Blaine were a team that lost in OT to [73:23] Centennial in the semifinals of the [73:25] section playoffs last year and right now [73:28] look like the favorite to go to state at [73:30] a 74A early looking for a win against [73:34] Spring Lake Park that would bring him to [73:36] 7-0 to start the season and a turnover [73:39] here for the Panthers. Boy, they get an [73:40] offensive foul away from the ball on [73:42] Aiden Lowry [73:44] and uh that's a tough one to take in [73:46] that spot. They come back with Pelky and [73:48] Wilkinson to try to get a little more [73:50] defensive punch. [73:54] >> Critical possession right here for [73:56] Blaine. I mean, there's still time here, [73:58] but you're under three. You're up by [73:59] six. If you can start to extend this [74:02] lead out to eight or nine, you might be [74:04] able to put the Panthers away. [74:06] >> Semens with a skip pass here to Aayite. [74:09] Goes around Pelky. Follows his own miss. [74:12] Nearly tied up by Wilkinson, but kept it [74:14] alive. Gimpa tries to pitch it out [74:17] looking for Seammens. Good deflection [74:19] there by Cal Spencer and it goes out of [74:21] bounds. [74:22] >> Boy, and that's an that's a rebound you [74:23] got to have. You cannot let AI one on [74:25] four pick up an offensive board. Got to [74:28] try to secure that rebound if you're the [74:30] Panthers and get things going the other [74:31] way. [74:32] >> 10 to shoot now for the Bengals after [74:33] the inbound. Mills in the corner. Gima [74:36] skip pass inside. Aet trying to split [74:39] that zone defense. 3 seconds. Wild shot [74:43] by Mills. offline and that'll be a shot [74:46] clock violation. [cheering] [74:49] >> You bring Jeepson back on the floor and [74:51] I think that's what they're going to do [74:52] here to try to protect Jeepson whenever [74:54] they can. They're going to move. They're [74:55] going to bring Pelky in to play defense [74:57] and switch it out. [75:00] >> Fullourt pressure. [75:02] My Wilkinson [75:04] Spencer Jeepson and Roach five on the [75:07] floor here for the Panthers. 210 to [75:09] play. Myron spinning into the lane, lit [75:12] on the rim as it doesn't have the [75:14] shooter's stroke. [75:15] >> That's a reach by Myron. [75:18] >> And that's a frustration foul from Nolan [75:20] Myron. And he's usually really poised [75:21] and calm on the floor, but you can tell [75:23] that one bugged him. As you can see, he [75:24] goes right for it. And that's that's [75:26] going to be called every single time. [75:28] >> It does not yet push the Bengals into [75:30] the double bonus. So shooting one and [75:33] one here is going to be Doce Mills. Myin [75:37] only his second personal foul. [75:40] We're going to have some tired players [75:41] tomorrow morning because this has been a [75:43] very physical, very hotly contested [75:45] basketball game. [75:46] >> And Mills, who' been south of 50% from [75:48] the line, misses the front end of the [75:50] one and one. Iay nearly made him pay, [75:53] but Jepson pulls in the rebound. I [75:55] looking for the dagger on the outside, [75:57] but now a chance for the Panthers. [75:59] >> Still a six-point lead here for Blaine. [76:01] Panther basketball of the minute 50. [76:04] Myin passes up the long three. Back to [76:06] Spencer. Second leading scoreer for the [76:08] Panthers. Only has six tonight. Point [76:10] guard tries to drive inside and a little [76:13] grab of the jersey there by Seammens. [76:15] The tough night for him is going to be [76:18] done as he picks up his fifth and final [76:20] personal foul. [76:21] >> Yeah, he's not happy about it, but he is [76:23] fouled out of the game. Just a rough [76:25] night for the young sophomore [76:27] and no doubt a game that he's going to [76:30] want to just go ahead and throw in the [76:32] receptacle at the end. So, the freshman [76:34] and the sophomore have both fouled out [76:37] for the Bengals. Cal Spencer, a junior [76:40] point guard at the line, knocks through [76:42] the first. He has seven now tonight. And [76:46] the Panthers, if he can make another [76:47] one, would be within four here with just [76:50] over 90 seconds left to play. [76:53] >> There you go. And I don't think this is [76:55] the kind of game that Seammens or Lavic [76:57] want to play, right? for smaller guards [76:59] and in this physical kind of halfcourt [77:01] style game, I don't think they're able [77:03] to do the things that they want to do, [77:05] at least not yet. And it was a tough [77:07] night for him. Good fullcourt pressure [77:09] by the Panthers. [77:11] >> All upper classman in the lineup here [77:13] for Spring Lake Park. So, it's a upper [77:15] classman big boy game the rest of the [77:16] night. Here is this one a try off the [77:18] left wing. That one does not go for [77:20] Blaine's Gavin Weir. And Spring Lake [77:23] Park still with life here down four with [77:25] a minute. 20 to go and a timeout coming [77:29] from Coach Major and Spring Lake Park. [77:31] >> Yeah, this is a critical possession. So, [77:33] Coach Major says, "We've got some [77:34] timeouts. Let's take one and let's get a [77:37] good play here and let's run something [77:39] in the half court set. [77:41] Let's see if we can get Myerin a clean [77:43] look, maybe get him a one-on-one [77:45] opportunity or something at the rim [77:46] where he can get a quick basket, maybe [77:48] get an and one. You got a minute and 17 [77:51] or so left in the basketball game. So, [77:53] it's it's it's right there for you, but [77:55] I think you don't want to come up empty [77:57] here. [77:57] >> Tight one down the stretch. These two [77:59] teams split a pair of meetings last [78:01] year, but both games were won by the [78:04] road team and blowouts by the road team. [78:07] The road team won by 16 or more in both [78:10] of the matchups last season. than the [78:12] Panthers won at Blaine in mid December [78:15] before the Bengals got revenge here in [78:18] Spring Lake Park on the last match up on [78:20] January the 15th. Before that win for [78:23] the Bengals in January, [78:26] the Panthers had won seven in a row [78:28] against Blaine going back to 2018 2019. [78:31] So, to put it another term, Spring Lake [78:33] Park have won eight of the last nine [78:36] against the Bengals, who we talked about [78:38] in the last timeout are resurgent under [78:40] a new head coach injecting some energy [78:42] into the program. [78:43] >> And how fun was that to see father and [78:45] son there both kneeling the same way in [78:47] the huddle to try to come up with a plan [78:48] as they're working together. [78:52] >> Love that. Bernie and Phil Ward. Fun to [78:56] see. [78:58] Inbounded here to Cal Spencer. A little [79:00] hand off to Myron. And there's Tyler [79:03] Wilkinson. They'll work it around the [79:05] perimeter here with just over 60 seconds [79:07] left to play. 15 to shoot for the [79:09] Panthers down by four. Myron across to [79:12] Spencer. Tries for three. It hits. Cal [79:16] Spencer with a big time three to pull [79:19] the Panthers within one. [79:20] >> That's probably the cleanest look [79:21] they've had in A WHILE. GOOD PRESSURE. [79:23] THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD A TRAVEL AND THEY [79:24] DIDN'T. [79:26] >> Aite breaks it over the timeline. 24 to [79:29] shoot. No need to foul. Road strips it [79:32] free off of Gimpa's fingertips and a [79:36] turnover and a Panther possession here. [79:38] I think Aayit is going to have to handle [79:40] the ball the rest of the way. This is [79:41] going to be a critical thing with Lavic [79:43] and Seammens off the off the floor. You [79:45] don't have a true point guard out there. [79:48] [cheering and applause] [79:48] And here to Cal Spencer, the point guard [79:50] for the Panthers. Oh, that's a bad [79:52] turnover. Oh, they give it up [79:56] and Blaine with a two point a one-point [79:59] lead. and 37 seconds left to play. [80:01] You've only got 2.2 seconds the [80:04] differential between the shot clock and [80:06] the game clock. [80:07] >> But you still don't have to foul here. [80:08] You can play some defense for a little [80:10] bit and see if you can force a steal. [80:16] >> Now Bernie Ward will take the timeout. [80:21] >> All right, so you got 25 to shoot, 27 to [80:26] play. This is going to be an interesting [80:28] decision for both coaches here. What do [80:30] you want to do? I think if you're coach [80:32] Major, you got to decide how many [80:33] seconds do we want to give them before [80:35] we decide to foul. And if you're Bernie [80:38] Ward, what do you want to try to do to [80:39] keep the ball away from the Panthers? [80:41] There's our student section hanging out [80:42] watching the game. [80:43] >> This is almost going to be a a coaching [80:45] game of chicken here. [80:47] >> Kind of sort of, right? Yeah. It's going [80:48] to be about who comes up with the right [80:50] move because [80:51] >> I don't believe in fouling right away [80:52] here. I want to try to get a steal if I [80:54] can. I want to force a backcourt [80:56] violation something before I try to to [80:58] put him on the line here because it's a [81:00] double bonus the rest of the way. [81:02] Guaranteed two free throws. Now the [81:04] reverse thought of that is well if you [81:05] give him two free throws you're still [81:06] only down one possession. You got a [81:08] chance at a three. Do you want to give [81:09] yourself time? [81:10] >> And I don't think you're changing [81:11] anything if you're Spring Lake Park. [81:12] You're throwing the zone defense at him. [81:14] Give them the three-point shot. You [81:16] would be happy with a guy you want [81:19] taking a three here potentially if if [81:21] that's the only shot you're going to [81:23] give uh Blaine. Don't give it to Aayit [81:25] maybe, but somebody else. You'll let [81:27] them take that three and roll the dice. [81:29] >> And this is a a bit of a sweaty moment [81:30] here for Bernie Ward because he doesn't [81:32] have some of those regulars that he [81:34] likes to use down the stretch of a game. [81:35] So, he's asking guys who haven't played [81:38] this position before to try to close the [81:41] game. [81:42] >> I had a wonderful night with 35, but I [81:45] think Roach and and company are going to [81:47] do everything in their power to deny him [81:48] the basketball. [81:49] >> Royce Mills inbounding. He looks right [81:52] for Aayite and Roach will foul [81:55] immediately. A little bit of a surprise [81:57] there, but that's how coach Major wants [82:00] to play it. They'll give themselves more [82:02] time here [82:05] to potentially hit a game tying bucket. [82:08] Well, there was a great pick that freed [82:09] up Iet right there and he got into the [82:12] back court. I don't think that's what [82:13] Coach Major wanted to be really honest, [82:15] but I think that once he got the ball, I [82:17] think Coach Major realized that ball's [82:19] not leaving Shiloh Ait's hands. we might [82:21] as well just foul him now. And instead [82:22] of letting him make some kind of [82:24] three-point shot on us, we put him on [82:26] the line, he shoots free throws, we [82:28] still have a chance to tie the game with [82:29] a three. [82:30] >> And neither teams have been great at [82:32] shooting foul shots this year and [82:35] tonight. [82:35] >> Yeah. [82:35] >> So, you figure you got a good chance [82:37] here of maybe AI hitting just one of [82:39] these and then you just need a two. You [82:42] got 25 seconds to work with to try to [82:45] hit a game tying shot. Best case [82:47] scenario if you're Spring Lake Park. [82:50] misses both of these. Both teams are in [82:51] the double bonus right now. Remember, [82:55] >> the Grinch [laughter] [82:58] >> enjoying the game though. Absolutely. [83:02] >> I got to tell you, I think I have that [83:03] same shirt or something like that at [83:06] home. [83:07] >> Is the Grinch box also checked in your [83:09] shirt? [83:09] >> So, you know, people have called me the [83:11] Grinch at at this time of year as well. [83:13] That has happened. [83:16] I don't want to say I'm proud of that, [83:17] but I but I am I get called a Grinch [83:19] when I tell people to turn off Christmas [83:21] music like on November 1st [83:23] >> immediately. And I [83:24] >> if that makes me a Grinch, then [83:26] >> so be it. [83:26] >> So be it. Exactly. [laughter] [83:30] [applause] [83:30] >> All right, Aayit, that's a big one. He [83:32] knocks through the first of two and a [83:36] chance here to make it a threepoint [83:38] Bengal lead. [83:40] >> And again, big, you know, if you make [83:42] it, you can't panic here for Spring Lake [83:44] Park. If this goes in, you still got 25 [83:46] seconds. [83:47] >> He's a 70% foul shooter on the year, but [83:51] in the clutch moment, he hits them both. [83:53] Yeah, that was ice water right there [83:54] from Aite who's got 37. Here's Myron [83:57] driving to the tin. My lays it off glass [84:00] for two. [84:02] >> All right, you've extended the game. [84:03] There's 18 seconds to play. You got a [84:06] quick two there. Now you're going to try [84:08] to set fullcourt pressure. That's why [84:09] you see the immediate timeout by Coach [84:11] Major. Good drive by Myron here off the [84:14] window. Now they're going to put [84:16] everything into getting a steal off [84:18] fullcourt pressure and then they'll foul [84:19] with maybe 15 or 14 seconds to go and [84:22] we'll keep playing this game if we have [84:24] to. Myron has got 20 tonight. His season [84:28] low in scoring was when he got injured [84:30] and missed the last four minutes of that [84:32] game last Wednesday against Centennial [84:34] and scored a measly 22. [84:37] >> Yeah. [84:38] >> Sheesh. [84:38] >> So he needs two more to tie that. But [84:40] he's not thinking about that right now. [84:43] Spring Lake Park down just a point. [84:45] It'll be Blaine basketball. When play [84:48] resumes, Shiloh Aayete as good as [84:51] advertised 37 tonight. A new careerhigh [84:56] >> and he has got 20 or more now in four [85:00] straight [85:03] >> trying to hang on the road. You brought [85:04] it up, I think earlier, right about [85:06] halftime, that Shiloh was seven of 18 at [85:08] the half and uh Myron was six of eight. [85:11] And it's interesting how Myron's willing [85:14] to defer. But then we get here, here we [85:16] are, second half late in the game. [85:18] What's happening? He's become the alpha [85:20] dog. He's like, I need to touch the ball [85:21] on every possession and I'll make some [85:23] decisions based on that. And from that [85:24] point on, you've seen Spring Lake Park [85:26] be able to execute. I from the jump has [85:28] basically just said, I had I have to be [85:30] the alpha tonight. I've got to shoot 30 [85:32] times to make this happen. [85:36] >> I mean, he's taken north of 25 field [85:39] goal attempts here tonight. [85:43] >> I definitely think he's probably near 30 [85:45] if I mean, if you just do the math a [85:47] little here, although they put him on [85:48] the line a little more in this second [85:49] half. Now, can they deny entry to Shiloh [85:53] Aite? [85:56] >> They do. Mills will get it into Gavin [85:58] Weir and able to shuttle it along here [86:01] to Iet. He'll be fouled and head to the [86:04] line again. I think right now that's the [86:05] last guy you wanted. [86:06] >> They needed to foul Weir immediately. [86:08] The fact that they allowed Weir to get [86:09] that ball to Aayite was [86:13] I think not what Coach Major wanted, but [86:16] all right, you deal. You still got a [86:18] chance. It's the same situation. [86:20] >> Fourth on Nolan Roach. Him and Jeepson [86:23] right now. each working with four [86:24] personal fouls in the Lake Owens. [86:28] You're not worried about the four fouls. [86:29] You're keeping the personnel you want on [86:31] the floor here with 16 seconds left to [86:33] go. Aayite gets the shooters roll to get [86:36] him to 38. Still continuing to work on [86:39] that career night. [86:40] >> Let's remind everybody that they've only [86:41] scored 55. So 38 of the 55 have come by [86:46] way of number one. [86:49] >> 13 made field goals. will tally up the [86:52] misses for you at the end. It has been a [86:54] fantastic shooting night for Aayite. [86:57] [cheering] [86:58] He'll make all four here down the [87:00] stretch. 39 points for Shiloh Aayite. [87:04] And another timeout taken here by the [87:06] Wards on the Bengal line. [87:08] >> Yeah, and good timeout here by coach [87:10] Bernie Ward. He wants to talk this over [87:12] and set up his defense. Now, I think [87:15] he'll go fullcourt pressure as well. [87:16] Now, the question here is Matt, does he [87:19] foul before a three-point shot goes off [87:22] so that he puts somebody on the line [87:24] where they can't tie the game with a [87:25] three? [87:26] >> I think he got it. [87:27] >> The risk though is that if you foul him [87:29] in the act of shooting, you're giving [87:30] them three free throws. So, that's [87:32] always the risk here. But if you're [87:33] going to foul, do you do it way here in [87:35] the back court? [87:37] >> I think so. I think they're going to [87:38] foul. I think these teams are struggling [87:42] to shoot it from both three-point range [87:44] and from the foul line. I I think if so [87:47] if worst case scenario you send somebody [87:50] to the line to shoot three foul shots, [87:52] >> you take your chances, right? [87:53] >> I think you take your chances. [87:54] >> Yeah. And I'm sure that's something [87:57] that's going through the mind. You get a [87:58] look at all the Christmas. Look at all [87:59] the holiday sweaters around here [88:00] tonight. It's been fantastic. [88:03] >> And a lively student section. We got uh [88:07] a lot of fans fil I I think we've got [88:09] some alumni that are back in town from [88:10] the building. You know, eavesdropping [88:12] and some conversations around us. It [88:14] sounds like some recently graduated high [88:16] schoolers that are back stop over at the [88:18] McDonald's on Well, that's just it. The [88:20] college semester is over with. So, all [88:22] those folks are back in town for the [88:23] holiday. And [88:24] >> there's Brody Gimmble from the Panther [88:26] football team. [88:28] >> Can't miss him. [88:28] >> Can't miss. Sticks out like a sore [88:30] thumb, right? I mean, yeah, he's [88:33] Don't meet him outside in an alley. [88:36] >> 56. He's quite friendly. [88:37] >> I'm sure he is [88:40] >> little spooky at first. Here's Myron [88:42] getting it off to Roach. 8 seconds left [88:44] to go. They'll work it around here to [88:46] Lowry off glass. Too strong. [cheering] [88:51] And Shiloh Ait. A little shake it up. [88:54] Looked like he knocked his elbow, I [88:56] think, down onto the floor. [88:58] >> Yeah, he'll feel that. That's going to [88:59] hit the funny bone. He's going to have [89:02] to try to shake that off. I don't know [89:04] what what the Panthers were trying to do [89:07] here. here as we take another look. [89:08] Lowry, first of all, clearly doesn't [89:10] have a comfortable left hand, so he went [89:12] with the right on that. That's not a [89:13] high percentage look, but again, you're [89:15] chasing three and it's under 5 seconds. [89:18] I feel like you got to shoot a three [89:20] right there. [89:22] >> Yeah, my I think wanted to get the three [89:24] off. Blaine threw two guys at him, but [89:26] that didn't look like the plan as things [89:28] started to break down. Shiloh Aayete, [89:32] he's hit four free throws down the [89:34] stretch already. back up of the line and [89:37] gets that one to roll. What a [89:38] performance from Shiloh Aite. His first [89:42] 40point game of his high school career [89:46] and he's doing it with some absolutely [89:48] ice cold free throws down the stretch [89:51] here. [89:51] >> Yeah, just a 40 burger on a night when [89:53] they absolutely had to have it. [89:55] >> And the instructions clear from Bernie [89:57] Ward. Don't do anything. The Bengals [90:00] oblige and they will hang on for the [90:03] 5753 [90:05] win. A rock fight here two days before [90:08] Christmas in Spring Lake Park and an [90:11] unconventional way for the Bengals to go [90:14] to 7 and0 to start the season. [90:17] >> It's an incredible game. I mean, there's [90:19] just nothing more you can say. And we'll [90:21] uh we'll try to go find somebody. [90:23] Interviews coming up. Tim Anderson will [90:25] be back to break it down with the [90:26] Bengals who are 7 and0 to start the [90:29] season as they knock off Spring Lake [90:31] Park. Back with the recap next on North [90:34] Metro TV. [90:38] A good one here from Spring Lake Park [90:40] tonight. If you like defense and the [90:42] Bengals do, they hang on for a 5753 win. [90:46] Their seventh in a row to start the [90:48] season as we send it down to Tim [90:50] Anderson with a couple of the Bengals. [90:52] All right, thank you very much, Matt, [90:54] and thanks for all the guys in the [90:56] truck. Great job tonight. And of course, [90:57] in a game like this, we have to talk to [90:59] a guy who scores 40 points. We have to [91:00] do that. So, we're here with Shiloh [91:02] Aite. Shiloh, this was a hard-fought [91:05] game. This isn't the traditional Blaine [91:06] game where you're getting up and down [91:07] the floor scoring 70 points. Had to [91:09] really fight for this one tonight. Talk [91:11] a little bit about this game. [91:13] >> Uh, it was a it was a great game. Uh, we [91:15] started pretty slow at the start and [91:17] then we started to pick it up. Um, and [91:19] then uh some of my points led us to win [91:21] us win us the game. So, uh, we played [91:23] pretty good. Uh, a lot of bad things [91:25] happened, but we got it with a win. So, [91:27] my thought to you is this. I'm wondering [91:28] if this is sort of like a senior sort of [91:30] alpha scorer kind of thing where you [91:32] notice that guys are struggling. They're [91:33] off to slow starts. Do you think to [91:35] yourself, I got to I got to do this. I [91:37] got to will it. I got to get more shots. [91:38] I got to get more looks. Do you think [91:40] about that or is it just the flow of the [91:41] offense? [91:42] >> No, I kind of just flow through offense. [91:44] Um, I'm more experienced than a lot of [91:46] the other players, four years here, so I [91:48] know what's going to happen most of the [91:49] time and I kind of just play and flow [91:51] through within the offense. [91:52] >> Did you ever think you'd get 40 in a [91:54] game? Was that always a goal of yours? A [91:55] dream of yours maybe? What' you think? [91:57] >> Uh, definitely. It was It's a goal of [91:59] mine. So, I got it tonight and I got 40. [92:01] >> That's super fun. Shiloh, thanks so much [92:03] for your time tonight. I appreciate it. [92:05] We'll switch spots here with Coach Ward. [92:07] Coach Ward, you are a fun guy to watch [92:09] on the sidelines. They're a high energy [92:10] guy, but you said it to me just before [92:12] we got back that these kind of games are [92:14] hard on a coach. [92:14] >> Oh, they're very hard and you know, [92:16] Spring Lake Park did a great job. They [92:18] they play different defenses and so it [92:19] really keeps you on your toes. You know, [92:21] we worked on a few of those things in [92:22] practice, but in live action for for our [92:25] players to come up and try to kind of [92:26] diagnose what they're going against, [92:28] whether it's defense, offense, uh it [92:30] it's tricky. And so, you know, it's [92:32] stressful on the sideline. It's fun to [92:33] be part of these games. It's really fun [92:35] when they end and you know, your team [92:36] has has more points than the other team. [92:38] Um, but you know, I'm just really proud [92:40] of our guys and we worked on a whole lot [92:42] of these things. Um, and and there's [92:44] some room for improvement still, but you [92:46] know, we talk about, you know, being [92:48] tough, staying in the moment, moving on [92:49] when things aren't going our way. And I [92:51] thought we did that a a really good job [92:53] of that tonight. I'm proud of that. [92:54] >> Yeah, I thought like I I was saying [92:56] during the game that teams like this [92:58] when you're going on these runs kind of [92:59] need to play one of these grinded out, [93:01] greasy games that they're kind of a [93:02] character building game. Did you feel [93:04] the same way tonight? [93:05] >> Yeah, I mean, once it ends, yeah, [93:07] definitely. uh you know in the moment [93:09] it's it's a little bit more challenging [93:11] but uh yeah because you know we have we [93:14] have goals to you know win some games in [93:17] the regular season. We want to be [93:18] competitive in the section. We want to [93:19] see where maybe that might take us and [93:21] we know that wherever it brings us we're [93:23] going to play good teams. And so we it [93:25] is good to get this experience. Um and [93:27] it's good to it's good to you know have [93:30] these moments now so that hopefully we [93:31] can continue to to fight through them [93:33] and when we play some some teams down [93:35] the line too. uh we can rely on this [93:37] experience and hopefully, you know, be [93:38] the victors in those games as well. [93:40] >> Last question for you. Shiloh talked [93:42] about it that the practices have been [93:43] super fun in the last game a few weeks [93:45] ago that it's fun with you and your dad [93:47] on the sidelines coaching. I we noticed [93:49] a few times you both kneeling in the [93:50] huddle working these plays together. How [93:52] much of that is a fun for you, but also [93:54] like how does that communication line [93:56] work? [93:57] >> Yeah. Well, honestly, it's one of the [93:58] most fun things I've done. Um you know, [94:00] I told you sometimes a little stressful [94:02] on the sideline, but every day I get to [94:04] see my dad. every day I get to uh you [94:06] know I learn a lot of things from him as [94:08] well. He was Weisetta's head coach for a [94:10] long time and he's had a lot of other [94:11] experience prior to that. And so [94:13] truthfully uh there's no like you know [94:16] structure. If he's got something to say, [94:18] I want him to say it. If I've got [94:19] something to say, I want to say it. And [94:21] uh just kind of being able to bounce [94:22] ideas off of each other, talk after the [94:24] game, talk during the game, and and [94:26] hopefully just do our best to help our [94:27] team be in a good position to succeed. I [94:29] it's fun. And and and to be honest, that [94:31] there's a lot of trust there as well. [94:33] And so, you know, that's why I just kind [94:35] of whoever's got something to say, I [94:37] want them to say it because because our [94:38] goal is just to help our our players and [94:40] to win basketball games. [94:41] >> Coach, I love it. That's fantastic. And [94:43] of course, happy holidays, dude. Great [94:44] win tonight. Thanks to Shiloh. Thanks to [94:46] coach Bernie Ward. Just a fantastic [94:49] basketball game and a great win for the [94:50] Bengals. They're 7-0 on the season and [94:53] they're looking to keep it going over [94:54] this holiday break. And that'll do it [94:55] for our coverage here tonight on North [94:57] Metro TV. We hope you enjoyed it. Want [94:59] to thank everybody working in the truck. [95:01] Great job by you guys. Great job to Matt [95:03] Dean and on behalf of everybody else [95:04] here at North Metro TV, I'm Tim Anderson [95:06] saying. Keep your head up.
