Okay, moving along for announcements. Let's go on with the board of school directors is seeking applications to fill a vacancy in region 3 in Warster due to the passing of Mrs. Lynch. Interested interested interested candidates must be at least 18 years of age and must reside in region 3 for a minimum of one full year. Region 3 is located in Warster Township from the south side of York Road to the north side of Valley Road, including the speedway between County Line Road and Bristol Road. Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and resume to Centennial School District. The term will be effective through December 2027. Okay. Then moving right along to presentations, student presentations. William Tennant High School, Alexis Qualie. [snorts] Hello everyone. I hope you're all having a happy new year. Um, I would like to start by offering my condolences on behalf of the William Tennant student body to the family and friends of Mrs. Lynch. We recognize her significant contributions and the impact that she has had on the school district during her many years of service. Um, to start on December 11th, William Tenant held the will the winter concert and this concert had a very good turnout and it showcased the singers and all of their hard work. and we are now in rehearsals for our spring concert Weber Tour. In addition, on December 15th, we held the Future Business Leaders of America Leadership Competition, and many of our students competed with some even making it to the state competition, which will be held in Hershey, PA. On December 16th, senior Avery Koker earned her 1,000th career point in a basketball home game against Springfield High School. This event was a huge milestone, not only for Avery, but for the school as well, as she was the first female in 34 years to earn this accomplishment. And to start off a relaxing winter break, we held the annual Polar Slip and Slide on December 23rd in support of the Special Olympics. And students dressed up in festive costumes and prizes were awarded for best costume in various categories. This event brought together students and teachers in one of our school's fun winter traditions. And tryyouts for black and white night are underway with the black team generals being Sophia Jakamoski and Peter Kleman's and the white team generals being Haley Stob and Trey Null. Practices for dance musical performance and synchronized swim are being held in the upcoming weeks. In addition, teams have begun collecting paint supplies in preparation for poster making as well as supplies for cardboard boat making. We are very excited to start another year of black and white which we hope will bring together students from both teams in this fun competition. [clears throat] Furthermore, course selection night is to be held on January 15th. Students and parents can attend to learn more about the various pathways that our school has to offer as well as the required courses for graduation. In addition, midterms are being held January 16th through the 22nd. And students, our students have put in much work to prepare for these exams. And the end of these exams will mark the beginning of the third marking period. The Miss Panther event is approaching on January 22nd, and our candidates have been working very hard to prepare their walkouts, talents, and videos. The candidates are Alexandria Depalo, Kayn George, Sophia Jakamoski, Avery Koker, Ardan Kowalsski, Madison Picoszi, Jillian Twig, and Kina Vieiraa. Furthermore, the winter ball is to be held on January 24th and so far we have sold roughly 500 tickets and the theme is a night in lanterns. We hope to have yet another successful dance for our students to enjoy. Uh my name is Elizabeth Peterson and I am a junior at William High School. I'm also a proud level 200 student in the networking and operating system security program at Middle Institute of Technology. First up tonight, January is school board appreciation month and we are deeply thankful for your dedication and leadership. Your unwavering support plays a vital role in the success of our students and programs. Thank you for your commitment to education and for shaping a brighter future for the EMIT community. Next month marks the start of career and technical education month, a time to raise public awareness and celebrate the impact and achievements of CTE programs nationwide. NBIT is excited to launch the support the trades initiative again by inviting the community to show their support by purchasing and wearing specially designed t-shirts. The community is encouraged to show to share their support on social media, tagging MBIT to spread the word. Proceeds from this fundraiser will help support our students attending uh Skills USA Nationals. Stay tuned for more updates and activities as we celebrate CTE month. T-shirts go on sale through our MBIT school store starting February 2nd. Next, MBIT students will proudly represent their programs at the Skills USA District 11 competition hosted at hosted at Bucks County Technical High School on January 28th. Students will compete in a variety of skills-based events that showcase their technical expertise, professionalism, and problem solving abilities while being evaluated against industry standards. Participation in this competition provides students with an experience and demonstrates career readiness alongside peers from across the region. We wish all participating students the best of luck as they compete and represent MBIT. Students who earn gold medals in the in the district level will advance to the skills USA state competition. Next, applications for the 2026 to 27th school year are officially open and will close on January 31st. Students who are interested in career and technical education and ready to explore career focused learning are encouraged to apply before the deadline. If you know a student who would benefit from one of our programs, now is the time to share that opportunity and remind them to submit their application before it closes. Lastly, MBIT students have the opportunity to participate in dual enrollment by taking a college level course while enrolling at MBIT and earning three college credits through Bucks County Community College. Eligible juniors and seniors may enroll in introduction to social media marketing or medical terminology. Both courses are delivered online and will run from February 9th to to May 15th. Um, before I begin, I just want to give a shout out to a number of people. Um, our boardroom looks like it always does, but about 2 and 1/2 weeks ago, it looked vastly different. Um, unrecognizable actually. We had some repair that had to be done with pipes and plumbing underneath deep underneath the floor. And so there was a lot of jackhammering and tearing up and dust and lots and lots and lots of dust. And I'd just like to thank um our own Mr. Wartman for facilitating the project over there. And also uh several people, Billy Borger, Dan Mariner, James Dmitri, William McGrath, and also Mr. Glenn Miller who has spent literally days on end scrubbing, polishing, cleaning everything from and and we put a lot of it away, but the dust broke through the the temporary wall and Mr. Miller spent an inordinate amount of time. So, if you see him out there in the hallway, he he always loves when we give him a big shout out. [laughter] So, I'm I'm going to hear about it tomorrow, but I especially want you to shower him with praise. So, um it was it was a job well done. So, thank you. And um it was on time. Usually it's 2 weeks. When are we going to be done in 2 weeks? They were done in 2 weeks. So, excellent work. So, um as as mentioned um by Elizabeth, it is school board appreciation month, school board director's month, and we want to take a moment to personally thank all of our our board members, and we'll be celebrating them throughout the month, not just tonight. um including at our next meeting on the 27th. But I want to take a moment to personally thank all of you on behalf of the Centennial School District for the service that you give to our community. And I don't think people realize that it's not an easy job. These men and women are volunteers. And um especially for our newest members, sometimes you don't not quite sure what you volunteer to start to get into. Um [laughter] you know, try try as we might. Correct. um that their willingness to dedicate so much time and energy and leadership and service to our students and our staff and our families does not go unnoticed. And it's a very complex job. They have to look at major decisions to make for our district surrounding issues of personnel, surrounding issues of policy, surrounding financial management and major major financial decisions. And it takes preparation, it takes deliberation, it takes uh commitment to the long-term success of the district, not just in the moment in front of us, but in the long range and to bring that student- centered focus. And so on behalf of our administrative team and our community, thank you for your continued advocacy, your guidance, and support in advancing the mission and the vision of the Centennial School District. We look forward to continually recognizing and celebrating you throughout the month. And PSBA has asked that school districts issue and read a proclamation. So bear with me as I read the PSBA proclam proclamation which states, "Whereas the role of locally elected school officials has served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and local communities in meeting the needs of public education since the passage of the Free School Act in 1834. And whereas these local boards have discharged their responsibilities to public education in a manner which has placed public education in the forefront of our educational systems. And whereas locally elected officials have distinguished themselves and their communities in this non-paid volunteer public service commitment. And whereas the contributions of these men and women should be recognized and appreciated by those who benefit from the workings of our public school system. Now therefore, be it resolved that the board of directors of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association hereby proclaims the month of January as school director recognition month in this commonwealth. And further resolve that this proclamation be communicated to all school districts, school officials, and local communities to bring visibility and awareness of the role of locally elected school officials to the citizenry of this commonwealth. So, thank you all so much. And um it's a hard job. It doesn't get easier and we thank you for it. And I want to call attention. Um there is a wonderful art teacher and all of our art teachers are outstanding. But at Willowdale Elementary, if you ever walk through Willowdale, it is a school that's just bursting with color and spirit. And um I want to thank our teacher Autumn Dao and her wonderful students um who literally all had a hand in there around the edge. But um we called over and said because I've been eyeing up a couple of their banners. If they ever want to get rid of them, I'd like to pull them over into this building. Um and we said, "You think you could pull one together?" She said, "Oh, within a day it was it was finished." Um so, um thank you to Mrs. D willale. Just a little something to brighten up our board meeting and our boardroom from from her and her students. So, thank you. All right, just a few other things uh very quickly. Uh just want to give you a quick reminder. Today we released our comprehensive plan. It is officially posted on our website on social media and we're very excited about the plan. It's been a long time in the works. It started in the winter of 2025 and really carried on the work that was established with the previous administration and the team here and to bring that bring that continuity and consistency that began. And so we encourage you to go on to our website and to open up the plan to give your review and feedback. There's an opportunity for you to engage in a thought share which is an online platform that allows you to review, leave comments and also comment on others insights into the plan. And we really value that. we released it to the entire community and to all of our students as well to get that feedback. So, thank you for your consideration with that. And then the last thing, just a a quick look ahead, but next, our next board meeting is on January 27. 2 days later on January 29, um I've requested a special budget workshop meeting to be held here in the boardroom at 6:30 p.m. open to the public. And we really want to initiate the process of identifying substantive solutions to the district district's budget deficit. And this is I would say one of the most consequential budget cycles that we've had in recent memory here in Centennial. And it has immediate and long-term implications for our financial stability. And I'm confident that through thoughtful deliberation here on the board, we can develop solutions that address our current challenges while supporting the district's long-term fiscal health. But it's going to require sacrifice. It's going to require careful stewardship. It's going to require resolve. Um, but we want to reaffirm our current situation and more importantly identify options to reduce this deficit and to bring a budget forward that respects both the outcomes that we want for students but also for our community taxpayers and our our community members and stakeholders and we have an obligation to honor them in all of this. Because we voted before about um increasing um class sizes. we and things like that and we didn't want to increase the size but did um kindergarten I know is the co babies and um have we increased teachers or class grades like how many instead of four classes of grade one are there five classes now >> so um I I would have to off the top of my head I don't have enough information to answer that definitively I can tell you that in the summer We monitor enrollment weekly and I can give you an example. I know at one of our elementarymentaries um we had an uptick in enrollments coming in um in in a a particular grade and so I did authorize the addition of of a class because of that to balance that out and to keep those class sizes within the board established guidelines of of of range. And to meet that goal, there are two types of initiatives, demand initiatives and efficiency initiatives. Why am I raising it? Because as I started to review the things that are up for approval, um we are asking for approval really after the fact. The spend has already been made. Um so the process going forward really has to change and in that vein, it's really about having a review for critical need to ensure that things have been budgeted to leverage the power of our spend with a consolidated list of vendors. um requesting of a financial approval um with varying levels of financial approvals and then the ability ultimately to pay the bill when all of those steps have gone through. You'd be surprised by the opportunities for savings that will arise that way. Um I've already had the discussion with Dr. Lucaba and we hope to sit down with his team to put in place the processes, the workflow and the financial approval levels. With this in place, we will approve demand at the right level. We'll ensure that the spend has been budgeted. will leverage our spend with a select group of vendors. We'll have authorization levels and we'll have a straight through process. With that said, be it resolved that the Centennial School District Board of School Directors approves a schedule of bills, investments, cafeteria fund budget reports, and general fund cash receipt summary December 2025 as per the attached. She uh was something who someone who that last image that we saw there with that big smile on her face. When I think of Jane, I think of her laugh. I think of that smile and the kindness that she showed her generosity in service and to new folks on the board. Um she was not stingy with the wisdom that she gained over the years as part of this and other governing bodies. So I truly appreciated that as a new board director coming in and feeling welcomed by her. Um, and yeah, I certainly learned a lot and enjoyed working with her over the years. So, she'll be missed, but that's obviously on on all of our minds, I'm sure. >> Not only I'm not sure if everyone knows this, not only did she serve 18 years on this board, she was the first woman township supervisor for Warrster Township, which is quite impressive. Um, going back that many years, she really was um dedicated to this community. All right, let's move on to uh Mr. Saddowski district policy report. >> Uh I have no report yet as I have not attended a policy meeting as of this point, but next time I certainly will. >> Okay. Um [laughter] Bucks County School Intermediate Unit, Mr. Godson. >> Um we did [clears throat] not have any meetings in December. Um, but we do have a legislative breakfast meeting that is scheduled at the IU Friday morning and I do believe that all the board members in this room were invited u but they had to RSVP in order to attend. Um, there is a mobile fab lab ribbon uh cutting program scheduled for the Ivand site uh on January 20th. It's happening between 9 and 10:30. And um today we received a letter, you know, from Dr. Hoffman in regards to services for students between age zero and 2 years of age. Um it is a service that is supposed to be conducted by the county. Um but the IU has been providing this service up until now and due to not uh getting the cost u that is involved with serving these students this uh will be ending uh at the end of the month. Um but it is a job that is the responsibility of the county and not of the educational providers. is, if I may, is that tied in with Bucks County Head Start as well, like the early education center. >> That is indeed strictly age zero or birth age two. >> Okay. >> Uh, and primarily they we're serving 49 students at this point, but it we just want to make clear that it is not because the IU does not want to provide this service, but it is a responsibility that belongs at the county. Um the other important piece of information is the annual Bruce Beaten golf outing um is going to be renamed. The family can no longer support the event. So it will be um renamed and [clears throat] the annual golf event is June 18th. Um and then CF's next meeting is on January 20th and that's it. When does Pawsome Pets start? It starts on February 6th, >> 2026. Okay. All right. Legislative council, Mr. Hartline. >> I say it's the week Friday before we have our schoolboard meeting. [laughter] All right. So, um, both the House and the Senate are back in session at this point. Um, limited schedule really. They only have four session days um in January, three in February and March for the House and the Senate. Uh looks like the Senate may actually have a few more. So, there is some limited stuff. Legislation is getting passed. Most notably, the governor did sign in um to law a um new requirement for school districts reporting of weapons in school and incidences. So that is something that you know we have done anyway but they have changed the guidelines for that. So you're going to probably see some alarming numbers come out of some areas that uh you know may shock you a little bit. Um [snorts] but it's kind of the the world we live in unfortunately. Um there is a Keystone Fresh Act that is sitting in the house right now that's supposed to go out to committee um regarding the uh school lunch programs. I think it's something that we are actually probably already ahead of the ball game on, but we'll be interesting to see where that goes. Um there is also a creating a safer online experience for children. This was a memo that came out. This has some bipartisan support to it. It was originally introduced back in December. So, we will see where that goes. Also, there may be some changes coming to the right to know documents that if documents are destroyed, it can now be a criminal offense. So, we'll see how that goes through. And lastly, I already mentioned that one. That was the weapons in school. So, that is currently what's going on in Harrisburg. Um, Lord [snorts] knows when they're going to start their budgeting process. Should be interesting to see. And uh that's it for this month. >> Thank you. Um NBIT, Mr. Godson. >> Surely we had our reorganization meeting last Tuesday and I was proudly and gladly reappointed as president of MBIT. The current vice president is going to be or is Karen Smith from Central Bucks and the secretary is Linda Swido from New Hope Soulbury School District. Um, as I mentioned, you know, Elizabeth Peterson made a beautiful presentation together with a student from Center Bucks and from Council Rock. Um, Elizabeth spoke about her program, the network operation program. Um, MBIT has gotten two uh great grants, one for 260,000 and one for 70,000. So, that is, you know, helping offset some of our costs. Um, we also proudly can say that we had four presentations at the ACT National Conference in Nashville. Um, and one of them was attended by more than 700 people. Um so MBIT is not just a a locally recognized uh tech school or you know statewide we are now recognized nationwide as well. Um which has also brought another common uh component into into place. Um, MBIT had a visit from a congressman from California and he is now proposing and looking forward to having a conference training people in I IA communication. Uh, the congressman was Ro Kana. Uh, and again he represents the Silicon Valley area of uh, California. um this has also the potential to lead to more certification programs at MBIT. Now, it's going to be difficult to create that, you know, due to space, you know, at MBIT. Um, we have a local advisory council meeting on January 23rd. Um, and we are going to have a new president there, Liam Pesky. Normally that would have been elected back in October, but due to not having a quorum in October, uh it is going to be uh done hopefully on the 23rd. Liam Pesky was a former director of the Bucks County Technical High School uh in Levertown. And the vice president is going to be Mike McComem, who was a 30-year teacher at MBIT before he retired uh a few years back. So, you know, great people that is going to help uh create uh ideas and thoughts, you know, for uh MBIT. Uh MBIT also had a foreign trip, you know, over the summer. uh a group of 31 students went to London and Paris [clears throat] and this created so much interest that more than 200 students are looking to get engaged with the next trip and that is also already prepared and this is going to be to Italy for 36 students at maximum 36 students um in the culinary arts program. Um, just wanted to also mention on the local advisory council there are 17 members. Five of those members are from the Centennial School District area and the next board meeting is uh January the 26th for MBIT. Though I do also want to mention that the application process is heavily in engaged right now and there is a deadline by the end of the month um for MBIT. So if you want to apply get it done now because there is potential for waiting lists. Conclusion of my report for MBIT. >> Thank you. All right. Any communications? All right. Monday, January 19th, all schools and offices are closed due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Tuesday, January 20th at 7 p.m. is the Bucks County Intermediate Unit meeting. Friday, January 23rd, the secondary schools are closed. Grades 6 to 12 inservice transition day. Grades K through 5 is a full day of school. Monday, January 26th at 5:30 is the MBIT committee of the whole. Tuesday, January 27th at 7 is the Centennial School Board Committee of the Whole meeting. Tuesday, February 3rd at 5:30 is the NBIT Exe Executive Council meeting. And Tuesday, February 10th at 7:00 is the Centennial School Board meeting with the work regular meeting.
