[0:29] Welcome inside [music] Centennial Sports [0:31] Arena in Circle Pines where tonight it's [0:34] a cat clash in boys hockey as Blaine [0:37] tries to keep pace with Centennial at [0:39] the top of the Northwest Suburban [0:41] Conference. Good evening everyone. I'm [0:42] Bill Hop alongside my broadcast partner [0:44] Tim Anderson. And Tim, now that Maple [0:47] Grove is in the Lake Conference, it's [0:49] anybody's game. Elkrove and Centennial [0:51] are tied at top the conference at the [0:53] moment. But Blaine comes in here seeking [0:55] its 10th win of the season as well and [0:57] they feel like they're on a roll and [0:58] they can do just that. [0:59] >> Yeah, they're riding high. They were fa [1:01] fantastic against the NOA the other [1:03] night in their last game where they [1:04] pummeled the tornadoes 8 to2 led by Lou [1:07] and Vouch getting goals. Bouch and Burns [1:09] have been everywhere this season. But [1:10] the players really came from the hattick [1:11] from [music] Weston Johnson. And [1:13] Johnson's the player to keep an eye on [1:14] tonight. He's the leading goal scorer. [1:16] There's a lot of balance and depth here [1:17] with this Blaine team. But with Johnson [1:19] playing as as balanced as he is, nine [1:21] goals, nine assists, 18 total points on [1:23] the year, you know, he's going to be a [1:25] factor for this Bengals team tonight, [1:26] especially if they're going to get a win [1:28] against a rival. [1:29] >> And that rival is Centennial. And [1:31] they're led by one of their senior [1:32] forwards and co- captains, Joey Hemer. [1:35] >> And he is scoring in bunches right now. [1:38] Four multi-goal games this season. 18 [1:40] goals on the season. He leads the team. [1:43] And he is scoring from literally [1:45] everywhere on the ice. watched this one [1:46] from their game recently, firing it. I [1:49] don't even know how that goes in the [1:50] back of the net. But that's been Joey [1:52] Hammer. He has just had a nose for the [1:54] net this year and he's been able to find [1:55] it. And we'll see how successful he is [1:57] against a tough Blaine team that only [1:59] gives up about three goals a game or a [2:01] little less. It's going to be an [2:03] interesting clash cuz Sentennial can [2:04] score. Can they score enough against Bla [2:06] to win? [2:07] >> A win tonight would take the Cougars at [2:09] top the Northwest Suburban Conference as [2:12] they've won six of their last seven [2:14] games. It's the Bengals and the Cougars [2:16] from Circle Pines coming up next on [2:18] North Metro TV. [2:23] >> An apple core or potato peels. That [2:26] leftover pizza you promised you'd eat. [2:28] >> Those dirty napkins and paper towels. [2:31] >> Stop treating us like garbage. [2:33] >> Did you know up to 30% of what you're [2:35] throwing away could be composted? [2:37] [music] [2:38] Composting gives your discards new life, [2:40] which can be used to improve soil. To [2:43] learn more about the new organics [2:44] dropoff programs available throughout [2:46] the county and get your free starter [2:48] kit, go to ana county. us/organics. [2:55] >> Centennial Ice Arena, the site of the [2:58] Bengals and the Cougars as both teams [3:01] just took the ice ahead of a big clash [3:04] here. Bill Hub, Tim Anderson, our entire [3:06] North Metro TV crew here tonight on a [3:10] chilly night as we take a look at the [3:11] Northwest Suburban Conference standings. [3:13] Elk River at up top with Centennial, but [3:15] Blaine right there as well with a 3-1 [3:18] and run record. No Maple Grove anymore. [3:21] So Tim, the conference is wide open. [3:23] Wide open. And there's a handful of [3:25] teams there that all feel like they're [3:26] in it from Armstrong Cooper all the way [3:28] up to the top. They have to feel like [3:30] they have a shot still in this [3:31] conference. And every game down the [3:33] stretch is crucial. Flynn Sandberg, the [3:35] junior goalender, will start in between [3:38] the pipes tonight for Centennial. 5 and3 [3:40] record, 3.19 save percentage, save [3:44] percentage of 875. Meanwhile, on the [3:46] other side, it's another junior, Wes [3:48] Anderly. [3:50] Impressive numbers for him. Just a 500 [3:52] record, but a sub three goals against [3:54] average and a plus 90 save percentages. [3:57] We're underway here in Circle Pine. [4:00] Centennial in the red and white. playing [4:02] in the TR traditional blue and white [4:05] centering pass intercepted Franklin Lou [4:08] who had two goals both goals in fact in [4:11] a two nothing win last year for Blaine [4:14] Bengals have had the better of the [4:16] rivalry recently after Centennial had [4:18] won eight straight previously. There's a [4:21] shot on net tip wide. Tracked to the [4:24] corner centering pass for Joey Hemer and [4:26] it's stolen away and taken back here by [4:27] Wilson Goozy. Guzzi banks it in for Lou [4:30] to give chase but ultimately [4:35] a whistle stops play. Icing the call so [4:37] the draw will come back down in the [4:39] Bengals end. [4:40] >> You're right about Anderly though when [4:41] he's just a 500 record but the stats [4:43] tell you otherwise. He's been a little [4:44] bit of a hard luck guy in net this year [4:46] for him. There's a look at Rich Many [4:47] longtime coach here for Centennial. On [4:50] the other side it's Trevor Freshman in [4:52] his fourth season for the Blaine [4:54] Bengals. We'll show him in a second. [4:56] Manny with a very veteran coach. His son [4:59] used to play on the team a couple of [5:01] years ago as delayed offside. [5:06] Bengals forc it out of the zone. And Ree [5:09] shoves down a Bengal defender in front [5:11] of his own bench. Helped along by number [5:14] 13 Porter Bayer down low. [5:17] [cheering] [5:17] >> Hitting will be heavy tonight you would [5:19] imagine in this rivalry game as Drops [5:22] plays it on ahead for Logan Orlet. He [5:25] tracks it to the corner. Centennial [5:27] possesses. The captain goes back outside [5:29] the right wing. Shot goes wide. Tracked [5:32] down there by Tanner Ferdig. And he'll [5:34] move it ahead for Cooper Bayer. Bayer [5:36] speeding down the right wing. Gains the [5:37] zone for Blaine. Banks it off the end [5:40] wall. Sharp angle shot saved comfortably [5:43] by Sandberg. [5:47] [cheering] [5:47] >> Familiarity brings contempt. Bill, as [5:49] you say, as you said earlier on, both [5:50] teams very physical with each other [5:52] early on. Skating well. Nobody getting a [5:54] good clear chance yet. No shots for [5:56] either team, but uh I expect things to [5:58] be pushy and a little chippy here [5:59] tonight between these two teams. [6:01] >> Yeah, I guess Sandberg did not make that [6:03] save cuz it's not registered on the [6:05] scoreboard. It's uh apparently was off [6:07] the side netting. [6:10] >> So Bengals bench looks on as the draw [6:14] comes out to the right of Sandberg and [6:17] it's one back cleanly by the Bengals. [6:19] [cheering] Fanning on the pass there, [6:21] Dylan Olsson forced out of the zone. Now [6:23] they're able to get it back in. [6:24] Centering pass blocked down by the [6:26] Cougars. Tracked to the right half wall. [6:28] Opportunity here off the post and the [6:31] net comes loose. So they'll stop play. [6:34] >> Beautiful turn and shot. [6:37] >> One thing I'm [6:37] >> quickly there by number nine Brady Lock. [6:39] >> I'm impressed right now with the way [6:41] both teams are playing defense against [6:42] each other. You can tell that these [6:43] teams have played against each other so [6:45] much. These players know each other so [6:46] much that they're on top of it. Not a [6:49] lot of room on the ice so far for either [6:51] team. [6:53] So Lochman, the sophomore forward, moves [6:56] in to take the draw for Blaine and he [6:57] wins it to the right half. Play back to [6:59] the point and then flip down low. [7:02] Centering pass to a cutting [7:05] Weston Johnson and it's again knocked [7:08] off. It's moorings. [7:10] >> Is that the technical term for it? The [7:12] moorings. [7:13] >> Yes. [7:13] >> I didn't, you know, I learned that just [7:15] now. Okay, that's great. I've always [7:16] just said the things the things [7:18] [laughter] that hold the net in place. [7:19] They have a name as you take a look at [7:22] uh [7:22] >> we need some moorings then because those [7:24] things come off already a couple of [7:25] times. [7:26] >> Yeah, goalies can get in trouble. Uh [7:29] sometimes they'll knock the goalie the [7:32] goal loose as the draw once again one [7:35] back by goalie the goal loose as the [7:38] draw once again won back by the Bengals [7:41] who have had the early go of it in the [7:43] in the circle. [7:46] walking the line here. Dylan Olsen shot [7:48] on net. Loose in front. [7:51] Good recovery and then a shot turned and [7:54] fired. Rising all the way. Wayne putting [7:56] a lot of pressure on this Centennial net [7:58] in the early going. [7:59] >> Bengals skating very physically and [8:02] keeping this puck controlled inside this [8:03] Centennial zone. Winning all the loose [8:06] puck battles. [8:06] >> Chopped at Centennial needs a change. [8:09] Long shift and they ice the puck so they [8:11] can get five fresh skaters on the ice. [8:14] Early going here at Centennial Ice [8:16] Arena, Bill Huff, Tim Anderson here on [8:18] North Metro TV as you take a look at [8:21] Cooper Daikawa, one of the senior [8:24] forwards on this team. Nick or Nolan [8:27] Border rather as Nick Carl moves in to [8:30] take the draw for Centennial. And once [8:31] again, Blaine wins it. Franklin Lu run [8:34] into by Cooper Hair. [8:36] It's centered out front, but no one was [8:38] home. Just a Centennial player gloved [8:40] down at the line now. Backhanded ahead. [8:44] Centennial trying to transition quickly, [8:46] but good recovery by Franklin Lu's. LS [8:49] skating ahead. Gets it ahead to number [8:51] 11 Nate Wal. Backhanded shot goes wide. [8:54] Comes up the far side boards [8:57] and they're able to get it out. He [8:59] collects it at center ice then kind of [9:01] fans on the pass and LSE has it. Written [9:04] into the wall by Cooper Hair. Picked up [9:07] here by Wallra. wrist shot. Great, great [9:09] pad save made by Sandberg. [9:13] >> Yeah, great right now Blaine feels like [9:14] they're skating a little harder and a [9:16] little faster and everything's happening [9:17] a little cleaner. Now, let's see if he [9:18] can turn things around for the Cougars. [9:20] >> Hemer skips past the defender bounding [9:22] puck in the right wing corner picked up [9:24] by the Bengals. [9:26] Puck just not spending too much time [9:28] down in the Bengals zone right now as [9:31] brother of Harper Surles [9:38] plays it in. [cheering] [9:40] >> Hammer usually again tries to find the [9:42] back of the net. That time he had a look [9:43] in front off a deflection and he had a [9:45] look right at the goalkeeper Anderly. [9:47] Take a look at this pass. Kind of got [9:49] deflected and all of a sudden it's right [9:50] there on the doorstep for Heammer and he [9:53] almost was able to put it through but a [9:54] good job by Anderly to cover up and [9:56] Carl's also in there jamming away for [9:58] Centennial. [10:01] So the draw will come to the left of [10:04] Anderly. [10:05] One back by the Bengals. Dylan Olsen's [10:08] been heavily involved so far. He skates [10:10] ahead with it. Flips it to center ice [10:12] and then it's dunked back in cross [10:13] corner. Skating around with it. [10:18] Pinned to the end boards here. 13 [10:20] minutes to go. First period. [10:25] Some good checking right there by the [10:26] Bengals just to get that puck out of the [10:28] zone and throw the Centennial Cougars [10:30] off their rhythm. Trying to get anything [10:31] set up in front of the net's going to be [10:33] really hard with the approach the [10:34] Bengals have taken early. [10:35] >> Super Bayer went back to the point. That [10:37] shot went wide. Now Bayer collects it [10:39] again. Centered between the rings and a [10:41] good shot. That shot had some real steam [10:44] on it by number 22 Grady Bouch. Six [10:47] goals and 14 assists. His 20 points [10:50] leads the team this year. very balanced [10:53] scoring group here, this playing group, [10:56] >> but just a good job again transitioning [10:59] from the for check to offense [11:02] immediately. So, Lockman wins the draw [11:05] back, but it's out of the reach of [11:06] number eight Sam Pter. He'll go DD with [11:09] the pass at his own blue line. [11:12] Managed to get it ahead to center ice [11:14] collected there by Cruz Harper. Harper [11:16] gains the zone, but offside the call as [11:20] Lochman was a couple steps ahead. [11:22] >> Yeah, and the problem was right there, [11:23] Harper was trying to get control of the [11:25] puck. He had to kind of go behind his [11:27] back to get it and uh that kind of threw [11:29] the speed off there as Nick Lochman [11:31] couldn't wait any longer. [11:34] >> So, the first line back out on the ice [11:36] as Nick Carl moves in to take the draw. [11:39] Wins it off the near sideboards. [11:42] >> Mason [11:44] Hair, brother of [11:46] Cooper Hair. Now Centennial will try to [11:49] get something to go. Blaine out shooting [11:51] the Cougars so far. Four to one. Shot [11:53] from the point. Blocked down by the [11:55] Bengals. Picked up by Cruz Harper. [11:57] Harper stick handling into the zone. [12:00] Jumped off the puck there. Loose in [12:02] front. Shot and a good save there by [12:04] Samberg. [12:07] Heck of an attempt by Cruz Harper, the [12:08] senior who came off the wall, swooped [12:11] in, tried to finish the rebound, but [12:12] couldn't. And it's interesting because [12:14] Sanberg and go and Quinn Gold have done [12:16] most of the they've been splitting the [12:17] time in net for Centennial. You wonder [12:20] if somebody's going to break through and [12:21] kind of take that job as the season goes [12:23] on. It might be Sandberg. That's a great [12:25] save there. [12:25] >> Pair of juniors right there as that was [12:28] a great play by Pter. Draw one back, but [12:30] once again he evades the man at the [12:33] point. This time Tanner Ferig Joey Hemer [12:36] down there to provide pressure on the [12:37] forch. tried a nifty Nick Nate Walwrath [12:41] rather tried a nifty little uh between [12:43] the legs zone exit instead he rings it [12:46] around to Franklin Lu takes a big hit [12:48] from Mason Hair [12:51] now it's Centennial's turn to control [12:52] the puck in the neutral zone [12:55] whacked at and deflected up and out of [12:57] play into the blame bench see it goes [13:00] back to kind of what I was saying Bill [13:01] and I think you're seeing it too that [13:03] Centennial's just not getting anything [13:04] in the middle of the rink it seems like [13:06] everything's been pushed out to the [13:07] outside and they're not able get any [13:09] centering looks. Not able to put any [13:11] pressure on the goalender right now. [13:12] It's a credit to Blaine and what they're [13:13] doing defensively. [13:15] >> So, the draw will come out at center [13:17] ice. [13:21] Tied up and won back by Blaine. [13:27] Picked up Lou shot. Samberg makes the [13:30] save. Bounding puck in the slot. Lou [13:32] recovers. He'll turn and fire a shot. [13:34] That's deflected up into the protective [13:36] netting and the whistle blows. [13:38] >> You just get the vibe that Blaine's [13:40] getting more chances in front of the [13:41] net. Some decent looks and credit [13:43] Sandberg. He's been able to make all the [13:44] stops so far, but Blaine looks like [13:46] they're starting to get the things that [13:48] they want on the offensive end. [13:50] >> It's not just a vibe, Tim. 6-1 on the [13:52] scoreboard. Shots in favor of Blaine as [13:54] well. [13:55] >> The vibe has data. [13:57] >> The vibe. [laughter] [13:59] >> Ref stops play. And now we'll get back [14:01] to it as the second lines for both teams [14:03] out there. This time Centennial wins it [14:06] to the end boards and they'll try to [14:08] play it out. Rifled ahead. Bounding puck [14:11] chased after by Sam Burns. He'll get [14:13] there ahead of Cooper Julick. [14:17] Once again, Centennial not really able [14:19] to hold the zone. [14:21] >> Here comes the Bengals. Sam Burns flips [14:24] it in. Delayed offside. So the Bengals [14:27] have to touch up and that allows [14:28] Centennial to lead the rush. Good job [14:31] stealing the puck though here. [14:32] OPPORTUNITY FOR BLAINE. THEY SHOOT AND [14:34] SCORE [14:36] AND IT'S Brady Botch, his seventh of the [14:39] season. Cracks the score sheet and the [14:42] Bengals come on the road and take the [14:44] early one- nothing lead. [14:46] >> It felt like it was just a matter of [14:47] time. And what how does it start? A [14:49] turnover in your own zone. You get your [14:50] your pocket pick by Bouch and it's [14:53] interesting how he just hangs on to this [14:54] one. and he's like, "You know what? I [14:55] could pass, but I got a good look here." [14:57] Puts it in the back of the net and wins [14:59] the battle on the stick side of Sanberg. [15:02] And it's quickly one zero. But that's [15:04] been Blaine's pressure. And that [15:05] constant pressure has been really [15:07] getting to Centennial. This time they [15:09] take advantage. [15:11] >> Believe that's going to be unassisted. [15:12] Goal at 617 the first period. [15:16] >> Brady Boch unassisted. [15:22] That shot's deflected wide. One- nothing [15:25] Bengals. [15:27] >> They strike first here on the road. [15:30] >> Opportunity now here. Centering pass as [15:33] it came right back to number 17 Isaac [15:36] Adams. [15:37] >> Nick Carl had a good look there too. [15:39] >> Yeah, maybe that was Carl. Surl's back [15:42] at the point. [15:44] >> Battle along the near half wall and it's [15:46] back out to center ice where it's fired [15:48] back in by Eddie Drops. [15:52] Eddie Drops. Not a good name for a wide [15:54] receiver, but not a bad name for a [15:55] hockey player. [15:56] >> Kind of like it for hockey. It's tough. [15:57] I I enjoy that. [15:58] >> It is. [16:00] >> An enforcer name perhaps. [16:02] >> And he does. [16:03] >> Not that they can fight in high school. [16:04] >> No, they can't. Although it doesn't [16:05] really seem to stop these two teams most [16:06] of the time. But take a look at this one [16:08] again. This Yeah, this is Carl's on the [16:10] doorstep and a good job of just kind of [16:11] poking at his stick and kind of throwing [16:13] off the timing and then he wasn't able [16:15] to get that clean look on the follow-up [16:17] chance and Anderly was able to kick it [16:19] away. I I don't mind though that he did [16:20] that kind of behind the net shot because [16:22] he was hoping to bang bank it in rather [16:24] off of Vanderly. [16:25] >> Oh, ref. Look at that. [16:26] >> Big collision with the ref in the corner [16:28] there. Play on. Although it's a delayed [16:31] penalty coming up on the Bengals. So [16:34] Sandberg goes to the bench, but the [16:35] Bengals able to touch up and Bengals [16:39] faithful not happy with that call. [16:44] >> And uh yeah, that's going to get a first [16:47] power play of the game. That's Weston [16:48] Johnson. Yeah. So, we haven't really [16:50] called Johnson's name much in the first, [16:52] you know, 7, 8 minutes of this one, but [16:53] now he gets to sit in the box for 2 [16:55] minutes. And this might be what [16:56] Centennial needs to kind of get [16:58] themselves going. I feel like they've [17:00] been skating a step slow. Maybe that [17:02] goal plus now this power play. Sometimes [17:05] you got to get hit in the mouth a little [17:06] bit to kind of get you going. [17:08] >> Yeah. Not sure if it's going to be [17:10] roughing or boarding or what, but So, [17:12] the faceoff comes in the right circle. [17:19] cross-checking the call [17:22] >> at 7:27 in the first period. [17:25] >> And this is a dangerous game to play, [17:28] Tim. 36% on the season is Centennial's [17:31] power play. Blaine, meanwhile, killing [17:33] off 80% of the penalties they take. So, [17:36] not a bad PK. [17:38] >> And the Cougars don't average five and a [17:39] half goals for nothing a game. Like, [17:41] they're able, they know how to score. [17:43] And when you give them opportunities [17:44] like this, [17:46] >> they can score in bunches. They put up [17:48] nine and eight in wins recently. They [17:50] shut out Egan three nothing on Tuesday [17:53] night. Now the power play goes to work. [17:55] TIPPED IN FRONT BY CARL. Save banked in [17:59] by Ferdig. And another stop on the [18:01] doorstep by Anderly. He's faced three [18:03] shots so far on this power play. Now [18:06] Franklin L sweeps it down and the second [18:08] penalty kill unit will hop on the ice [18:10] for Blaine. It's a good start though for [18:12] the Cougars on this penalty. They were [18:14] able to get a couple good shots on net. [18:16] Anderly is now starting to feel some [18:17] pressure in front. [18:21] >> Drops drops it near side for Daikawa. He [18:25] skates middle. Shares it on the right [18:28] circle. There's a shot and it's up and [18:30] deflected out of play. So it'll get [18:34] fresh troops on the ice as a great tip [18:37] in front by Carl's. And then Ferdig [18:39] again, goal line extended, tried to just [18:41] bank it in. [18:43] >> I thought they had it there, too. I [18:44] really thought the Carl shot in front [18:46] was exactly what they needed. Just kind [18:49] of fired it into the center mass of the [18:51] goalender Anderly. [18:53] >> 44 seconds remaining on the Miner off [18:55] the draw right at Anderly and he covers [18:58] up the five hole and takes the whistle. [19:01] >> Seven to five now. Shots in favor of [19:03] Blaine here in this opening period. [19:07] Both teams coming with nine wins on the [19:10] season looking to get into double digits [19:12] as the draws one back to the right [19:13] point. Skating middle with it. Hair [19:16] shares near side. Good stick in the [19:17] passing lane by Pter and he's able to [19:19] get it out to center ice. [19:21] >> Now you're starting to see Centennial [19:23] win more faceoff. Starting to control [19:24] the puck a little bit more. Not just [19:26] because it's a power play, but they're [19:27] starting to skate a little better. [19:31] Starting to shift towards the Centennial [19:32] Cougars direction as far as the momentum [19:34] goes. Kayen Johnson over there with hair [19:37] battling along the right half wall. [19:40] >> Picked up there by Ferdig in the corner [19:42] and he sends it down in between a pair [19:44] of Centennial defenseman. That'll allow [19:48] Blaine to get a line chain [19:50] >> and that'll also be the end of the power [19:52] play. [19:54] >> So penalty kill does its job for Blaine. [19:57] Now hair dumps it in deep and gives [19:59] chase. [20:01] Rung around. Nice job by Gavin [20:03] Cunningham to get there first. He's been [20:05] an offensive producer lately as well. [20:07] Guzzi can't get there. Picked up behind [20:09] the net. Oh, and a bad turnover. And now [20:13] Centennial has it. Sharp angle shot. [20:15] Cuttingham and it's saved by Anderly who [20:18] covers. [20:18] >> Cougars almost returned the favor right [20:20] there. You turn it over in your own [20:21] [snorts] zone. You provide opportunities [20:23] to the other team. That time Cunningham [20:24] got the look, but uh a nice job by [20:26] Anderly to recover and just cut off that [20:28] angle of the net. [20:30] >> We get another look at it right here. [20:32] Yeah, he tried to reverse. He tried to [20:36] uh cycle it to the opposite corner and [20:38] he turned it right over. Draw one [20:41] forward, but Goosey able to get there [20:43] first and it's cleared up ahead for [20:45] Weston Johnson. Even strength now for [20:47] both teams. Good save there by Sandberg. [20:50] Blaine still on it. [20:53] Pass up top for Sam Burns. He winds and [20:56] fires. It's loose in front and swept to [20:58] the far side wall. There's Dylan Olsson. [21:01] He'll throw it on net. It's deflected [21:02] and Sanberg does a good job tracking it [21:05] and eventually decides to melt it down. [21:08] >> Sweet uh sweet pads for Samberg, too. [21:10] That [21:12] >> Yeah, that's solid. [21:13] >> Not a big fan of the amount of black in [21:16] the Centennial color scheme, but I'll [21:19] make an exception in this case. [21:20] >> Yeah, I'm here for it on those. I think [21:22] those look good. [21:26] >> 644 remaining first period. I'm glad it [21:29] passes your test too, Bill, which is [21:31] very important. I'm sure that that'll [21:32] mean a lot to Sandberg. [21:33] >> Yes, I am the Sartorial Sports Talk. [21:38] >> Turned over here. Frank Lou and fires [21:41] and it's a blocker save made by Samberg. [21:44] Now Nick Carl comes out with it. Carl [21:47] speeding down the left wing. Tripped up [21:49] by Sam Burns. Now it's Lou. Burns gloves [21:52] it down. Oddman rush here for the [21:54] Bengals. Burns moving in. Good block. [21:57] It's loose in front and then swept away. [21:59] Great diving stop there as Carl tries to [22:02] transition [22:04] or Joey Heammer rather has it poked off [22:06] his stick to the near wall. [22:09] >> Yeah, you can't understate how good [22:10] Eddie Drops was on that last oddman rush [22:12] for him to drop down and stop that cuz [22:14] that was going to be a money goal. That [22:16] was a candycoated opportunity for the [22:18] Bengals. And a beautiful play by Drops. [22:20] >> He aptly named Drops. Just call him [22:23] lemon drops if you're talking candy. [22:26] That's wonderful. I could go for that or [22:28] a junior mint right now. [22:29] >> Absolutely. [22:32] >> Collision in the middle of the ice. That [22:33] could have been bad. And they're going [22:35] to get a penalty. [22:36] >> Yeah. Is it going to get like an [22:37] interference here perhaps? Or maybe [22:38] >> I don't know. It looked like a knee to [22:40] knee maybe, but that's Joey Hemer. [22:42] >> I almost felt like it was incidental at [22:43] first. So, [22:46] >> as Centennial defending well trying to [22:49] prevent this from being a two-goal game. [22:51] You look at drops. Got just enough on it [22:53] on that pass across. just enough skate [22:56] to just kind of alter that the other [22:57] direction. Now we hammer in the box. [22:59] This is Blaine's first opportunity on [23:01] the power play tonight with 542 to go in [23:03] the first period. [23:04] >> And we'll see what they do. [23:05] >> Just 15% on the power play, Tim, for the [23:08] season. Meanwhile, Centennial killing [23:10] off 79%. [23:12] >> And this might be the thing. [23:13] >> See the collision in the middle of the [23:14] ice. [23:15] >> They have so many guys who can score [23:17] goals, but they don't have that one like [23:19] assassin like Joey Hammer, right? Or who [23:21] can just go get a goal when they need [23:22] to. And that might be the reason why the [23:24] power play isn't scoring at the level [23:26] that maybe you'd like to see. [23:28] >> Hammer goes for tripping at 11:18 and [23:31] it's officially the North Metro TV [23:33] curse. Just out of the reach of higher [23:35] goal line extended fires and Porter [23:38] Bayer in the way. [23:39] >> Both of our players we featured in the [23:41] open and [23:43] >> committed the penalties in the first [23:45] period. [23:45] >> Although our girls game the other night, [23:47] we nailed it. It was perfect. They [23:48] played great. [23:49] >> That's true. [23:51] picked up here in his own zone by Brady [23:53] Lachman [23:55] as Gavin Cunningham gives token pressure [23:58] inside of five minutes to go here. First [24:00] period, [24:01] >> it's like a library in here right now. [24:03] It's a full house. It's a nice crowd [24:04] here at the sports arena, but man, [24:07] >> they're waiting with baited breath to [24:09] see what happens on this power play. [24:11] >> They're all on their Instagram reels [24:12] right now. They're not paying attention. [24:14] >> Run around. Cooper Bayer tries to cycle [24:16] it down low to Grady Botch, the goal [24:19] scorer. Now it's Bear. Now back up to [24:22] the point. Fired across to the right [24:24] circle. Nifty dangles and then shot goes [24:27] wide. Comes up the near sideboards. Held [24:29] in by the Bengals. [24:31] >> It's a good cycle by the Bengals here. [24:33] Moving the puck around, creating some [24:34] space. [24:35] >> Good pad save made on the sharp shot by [24:38] Porter Bayer. [24:40] Bayer [24:42] plays it cross quarter. Cross corner for [24:45] his brother Cooper. [24:47] Bengals still control just off the [24:49] bench. Cruz Harper. Now it's a shot from [24:52] the middle of the ice by Tanner Ferdig [24:54] that Handle League gloves and holds on [24:56] to. Three shots now on the power play [25:00] for Bla. [25:01] >> We're starting to get some baby shves at [25:03] the end of every play too now. So maybe [25:05] we're starting to get under each other's [25:07] skin just a touch. These two teams are [25:09] not immune from chippiness. [25:11] >> No, this is uh very familiar with one [25:13] another. [25:15] Nextdoor neighbors as they are. 23 [25:17] seconds left on the man advantage [25:20] for Blaine. [25:23] >> I don't like my neighbors very much. [25:26] Right half wall. The board battle [25:28] happening. [25:32] >> Sharing the puck here. Bayer hits the [25:35] iron. The iron unkind for the Bengals. [25:39] Centennial catches a bit of luck. Nick [25:40] Carl dumping chase to the end boards. [25:43] Beg you pardon. That's Cooper Daikawa. [25:45] and they get to full strength. So, [25:47] they've killed off that penalty. [25:49] >> That was an absolute laser, I believe, [25:52] from Cruz Harper. We'll show a replay [25:56] the next time out. Fantastic audio work [25:59] by our team as Dietrich. Tanner [26:02] Dietrich. First time we've called his [26:04] name. He gets to the end boards and he's [26:05] ridden off the puck by Ferdick. [26:08] Oh, out into the slot. That's slid right [26:10] through the blue paint, but it's [26:12] backhanded down by Centennial and they [26:14] will blame him rather and they'll gladly [26:17] take the whistle as uh indeed that is [26:20] that was Cruz Harper winding up and he [26:22] hit the left post and nobody was able to [26:24] to screen or shield the goalender on a [26:27] couple of those opportunities. So a [26:28] really nice job and maybe a little luck [26:31] too that Flynn Sandberg was able to get [26:33] a clean look at those and keep the angle [26:35] away from scoring those goals. playing [26:37] out shooting Centennial two to one 12-6 [26:41] overall [26:42] by a two to1 margin I should clarify [26:44] three minutes to go first period [26:46] opportunity here in between the rings he [26:48] follows up good block by Blaine jamming [26:51] at it in front Bengals try to get it out [26:54] bodies on the ice and we've got another [26:57] penalty coming up [26:59] and it might be he again [27:01] >> oh man that's tough to it's hard to [27:03] score goals when you're in the bin [27:06] That is a fact. And who said you weren't [27:09] a great hockey mind, Tim? [laughter] [27:11] >> Joey Hemer takes his second penalty in [27:13] the last five minutes. [27:16] >> And this one when his team was in the [27:18] offensive zone. [27:19] >> Yeah. And they had some moments in the [27:20] offensive zone. This is what you want, [27:22] your rebound opportunities, get those [27:24] greasy goals. And they had a couple of [27:26] nice looks there. And then all of a [27:27] sudden, the penalty kills all that [27:28] momentum. [27:29] >> So Blaine gets it back. [27:32] goes back on the power play. [27:37] >> And you're playing with fire, scarecrow. [27:39] Yeah, you're playing with fire here. [27:40] That's another one right off the post. [27:42] >> Oh, I Well, maybe [27:44] >> I think so cuz I thought I heard the [27:45] sound. I could be wrong. [27:47] >> Well, I was talking so there's every [27:48] chance I missed it. Isaac Adams or [27:51] excuse me, Tanner Ferdick firing that [27:54] one. Franklin Lou, they they're getting [27:56] some good chances on this power play. [27:58] And [27:59] >> I think he batted it in with his hand. [28:00] Yeah, that's what I think they got [28:02] there. [28:04] >> So, 131 left on the tripping minor. And [28:07] again, [28:09] second tripping minor. And [28:13] >> and this is a dangerous thing for [28:14] Centennial. You do not want to be just [28:16] handing power plays to the Bengals, [28:18] especially when you're chasing one goal. [28:20] In games like this, you just don't want [28:21] to get down two, three goals. It's hard [28:23] to find your way back. [28:25] >> No question about it. As Franklin Lou [28:28] >> leads the rush. [28:30] job defensively there by Isaac Adams, [28:32] the junior forward who physically shoved [28:35] him off. He's a big guy at the top of [28:37] that penalty kill [28:39] >> out of the reach of Cruz Harper. [28:41] Meanwhile, a mistake for the Bengals [28:43] with two three left before our first [28:46] intermission. Faceoff will come back [28:48] down in the Blaine end. It's a little [28:50] riskreward, but I like when you're [28:52] aggressive on the penalty kill trying to [28:54] get in passing lanes instead of letting [28:56] Blaine come across into your zone and [28:58] just cycle around. [29:00] makes things uncomfortable. [29:03] >> Wayne wins another face off [29:05] >> skating back with the Cooper Bayer. [29:08] >> Bear little chip and chase gets past [29:11] Mason Hair [29:17] and it's finally swept up out and about [29:20] and they couldn't keep it in. Oh boy. [29:22] Hter tried tried to glove it down but [29:25] ultimately could not. [29:28] And so whistle face off come down in the [29:32] blane end. [29:33] >> Oh, the offside shouldn't go all the way [29:35] down here unless they called something [29:37] else, right? [29:37] >> Well, I don't know. I don't know if he [29:39] called a hand pass. [29:40] >> Maybe he did call the hand pass, but [29:41] that's uh it felt like they just called [29:44] the offside. So, they must have called [29:46] the hand pass. [29:47] >> 53 seconds remaining in the power play. [29:49] A minute 44 in the period. [29:52] Bengals trying to make something happen. [29:54] Good stick in the passing lane there by [29:56] Jacob Hickeyi. [29:57] >> Yeah, great penalty kill so far from [29:59] Centennial. This has been great stuff. [30:02] >> Very aggressive on the for check. Hasn't [30:04] resulted in any shorthand opportunities [30:06] as Bayer skates through the neutral [30:09] zone. [30:10] >> Gets it ahead here for his brother [30:11] Porter on the backand. [30:14] Porter being ushered to the right wing [30:16] corner [30:20] out of the end boards. Cooper to Porter [30:23] Bear. Banked back to Pter. He flips it [30:27] on net. Now Cooper Bear guy in front and [30:31] they shove him down. Penalty. No arm [30:34] goes up instead. Playing with a chance [30:37] here. There's a shot that whistles wide. [30:39] Another potential chance. AND ANOTHER [30:42] SAVE. FOLLOW-UP SAVE AGAIN. Sanberg [30:44] making all kinds of stops. Stops again. [30:47] And this time, Heammer comes back [30:50] [cheering] and steals it away. Now a [30:52] chance for Centennio ON THE BACK HAND. [30:54] FANTASTIC STOP BY ANDERLY with the right [30:57] pad. [30:58] >> And now the Bengals. [31:01] >> Oh, they're going to get [31:02] >> fans. Appclectic at the cross check. Is [31:04] it going to be on the [31:06] >> I think it's on the Bengals. Yeah, I [31:08] think they're going to give that right [31:09] to uh looks like number nine Lockman. [31:11] Let's take a look. [31:12] >> Unbelievable chances here. [31:15] >> Pter was in there. [31:18] Cooper Bayer and then a chance here on [31:20] the backhand for Gavin Cunningham and [31:22] Anderly made a terrific save. [31:24] >> That happens a lot after a penalty is [31:26] up. Right when you get to full strength, [31:27] that guy coming out of the box has a [31:29] chance to maybe get a break at it. [31:31] Especially when everybody for Blaine is [31:33] down by the net at the end of that power [31:34] play. All of a sudden, somebody comes [31:36] out, you get an outlet, and you're [31:37] running. [31:39] >> Facts that may only amuse me or interest [31:41] me. Shot [31:44] gloved down. Blaine has had two [31:46] penalties, both for cross-checking. [31:47] Great outlet pass. Here comes Sam Burns [31:49] BEARING DOWN AND THE SHOT goes wide. [31:52] Missed it on the breakaway. 17 seconds [31:54] remaining. And Centennial's two [31:56] penalties have been both of the tripping [31:59] variety. 10 seconds remaining. [32:01] Centennial trying to get one last [32:03] chance. Drops, battling for it at the [32:05] left point along with Wilson Guzzi. Nick [32:09] Carlos fires it across and it'll go up [32:11] the wall and out of play. But Centennial [32:14] will have a minute and 26 of power play [32:18] as we begin the second period. Shots 148 [32:21] in favor of Blaine in that first period [32:24] and they lead one- nothing as we head to [32:26] our first intermission here in Circle [32:27] Pines on North Metro TV. [32:39] [music] [32:48] 2004 state champs, Centennial Cougars. [32:52] They trail Blaine in this one after one [32:55] period of play as we get set to start [32:57] the second period. But first, we'll look [32:58] at first period highlights. And it was [33:00] all Bengals early on. They outshot [33:03] Centennial 6-1. Great saves by uh the [33:06] goalender Flynn Sandberg. You made a [33:09] couple nice ones before they finally [33:11] cracked the score sheet. Grady Bouch, [33:14] his seventh of the season [33:17] off the turnover. Centennial had its [33:19] opportunities as well. They were outshot [33:21] in the period 14 to8, but they had a [33:23] couple good chances here. Great saves by [33:26] Anderly. Sandberg, meanwhile, stared [33:29] down that uh breakaway. and uh Tim [33:32] Anderson bring you in to this [33:34] conversation as we take a look at Trevor [33:35] Freshman, the fourth year head coach of [33:38] the Blaine Bengals. [33:40] His team enjoys a one- nothing lead. I [33:42] thought Blaine had the better of play in [33:44] that first half. [33:44] >> I did too. I thought that they when they [33:46] were at full strength, I just thought [33:47] they played better. They had more [33:49] opportunities. I thought Centennial only [33:50] really got shots when they were on the [33:52] power play, which good for them. They're [33:54] on the power play to start the period. [33:55] >> Exactly. We have a minute 26 left on [33:57] this cross-checking minor as Brody [34:01] Lochman sits in the box and they'll [34:03] sweep it ahead off the stick of Dylan [34:06] Olsen. Short sharp angle shot on the [34:08] short hand and it's turned aside. Say [34:11] that six times fast. Cunningham wheels [34:14] back in the neutral zone and goes across [34:15] the blue line to his defensive partner [34:18] Eddie drops. Into the zone goes [34:20] Centennial and then flipped out back [34:22] down into the Centennial end. [34:25] Early going here, a 15-8 shot advantage [34:28] in favor of the Bengals as they try to [34:31] kill off the last 52 seconds of this [34:35] cross-checking minor. And there's a slip [34:37] by Landon Ree. Opportunity here for the [34:39] Bengals. And the shot whistling high and [34:41] wide off the stick of Porter Bayer. That [34:44] was an [34:48] incident by Gavin Cunningham. Other end [34:50] chance here for Cooper Hire. And a good [34:53] save as it goes back down to the other [34:56] end and Sanberg plays it. Very good [34:58] penalty kill so far by the Bengals. [35:00] >> No doubt about that with speed through [35:03] the neutral zone. Kaden Johnson fires it [35:05] in and gives chase on the backhand now. [35:08] Isaac Adams. He cycles it down low but a [35:11] good job tying things up. Finds its way [35:14] back to drops [35:16] >> just outside the right circle. He plays [35:18] catch. Now it's in the middle. [35:20] opportunity here rising in and that one [35:23] goes high off the crossbar. [35:26] What a chance there as Nolan Border rang [35:29] the iron. [35:30] >> I actually thought that was going to be [35:31] the best look for the Cougars because [35:33] they were able to successfully shield [35:35] Anderly in goal there. Watch them get in [35:37] front and he was actually the Blaine [35:39] defenseman who looks like he gets in [35:40] front of Anderly and somehow just missed [35:43] it. [35:43] >> Yeah, Sterner blocked things. M Carl's [35:47] in there as well providing that screen. [35:49] Just a second left on the power play. So [35:51] Blaine's penalty kill be two for two now [35:54] that they're back to full strength. Punk [35:57] slides to the slot and then it's carried [35:59] on out by Blaine. Here come the Bengals. [36:02] Three on three as they enter the zone. [36:04] That shot ties up Sandberg, but he [36:06] manages to hang on long enough to get [36:08] the whistle. [36:08] >> They've had a lot of clean looks at [36:10] Flynn Sandberg. Give him a lot of [36:11] credit. and he's been they've been on [36:14] the doorstep and they have been in his [36:15] kitchen a lot here in this first period [36:17] and change and he's been up to the task. [36:19] 15 saves on 16 shots. [36:22] >> Wilson Guzzi wins the draw forward but [36:24] Centennial collects. This is Kaden Lar [36:28] getting some ice time behind his own [36:29] net. [36:31] Makes the easy pass and it's tipped out [36:33] of the zone and all the way down. Icing [36:36] called. So we'll do it again back down [36:39] in the Centennial end. This will be the [36:41] key here for Centennial in this stretch, [36:42] Bill, is how well they can play kind of [36:45] five on five, even strength hockey with [36:47] Blaine. I really do feel like Blaine's [36:49] had the the better of it when they've [36:50] been five on five. Like to see if that [36:52] stays that way or if Centennial can make [36:54] some inroads. [36:55] >> Well, Senzi moves in against Nick Carl [36:58] and Carl takes it. Trips back behind his [37:00] own net. One of several hockey playing [37:03] Carl, many of whom play in college, [37:05] including at Augsburg. Stolen by [37:08] Franklin Lou. He chips it ahead and goes [37:09] off for a change. [37:13] Walap gives chase and now it's picked up [37:17] by Nolan Border. Polar Border and [37:20] Heammer try to play catch. Carl's with [37:22] it now in the neutral zone. Nearly has [37:24] his pocket pick by Walap. [37:27] Centennial keeps possession but is [37:29] forced back and now they'll charge [37:30] ahead. [37:31] >> Working to the outside. There's a sharp [37:33] angle shot that's saved as Sam Coleman [37:36] or rather Eddie drops effort. [37:38] can't get past Anderly. [37:41] >> Banked off the far side boards. A man [37:43] goes down that the arms stay down and so [37:46] we play on. [37:48] >> Comes to the near side corner where it's [37:50] on the back hand and then cycle down [37:52] low. [37:54] Just about 3 minutes gone by here in [37:56] this second period. Still one- nothing [37:58] Bengals. [37:59] >> Skating with it, weaving between the [38:01] rings. And that shot didn't have much on [38:03] it from Porter Bayer. Carl [38:08] >> navigates his way forward backhanded as [38:11] Carl rushes towards the net and it's [38:13] flipped up but not out. [38:16] >> Forced back out to the neutral zone [38:18] where hair dumps it in deep and then [38:21] patrols the center line. [38:23] >> Good shift by Seagler and uh back on [38:26] that defensive side. Surls also had a [38:27] really good defensive sequence in that [38:29] last few minutes. order. Bear tipped [38:31] into the zone, but icing called. So, [38:34] we'll bring it back down to the bling [38:36] end for a faceoff to the right of Wesley [38:39] Anderly, [38:41] junior goalender, who splits time with [38:43] Jackson Julen. Anderly is, I would say, [38:46] played 75% of the season so far. [38:51] Draw one by Centennial. Back to the [38:53] point. Good block out there by uh Cruz [38:57] Harper. [38:59] Centennial fights it back in, but we've [39:01] got a whistle and a stoppage. [39:05] >> I think the play is going to be ruled [39:06] offside. [39:07] >> Yeah, it looks like Well, let's see [39:09] where they line up for the faceoff here. [39:10] Yep. Looks like they're going to come [39:11] right here to the dot. [39:15] >> Second lines both out there for uh each [39:18] team. [39:22] >> Blaine wins the draw this time. Burns up [39:26] ahead for Lockman. And then it has it [39:28] taken away by Cunningham driving the [39:30] net. Shot glove save and held on to [39:35] by Samberg. Seems like that's how [39:38] Centennial's been able to get their [39:39] shots is through these turnovers in the [39:41] zone by Blaine. That's what's giving [39:43] them their best looks. They haven't been [39:45] able to generate it through their own [39:46] offensive sets. [39:48] >> Yeah, it's in transition, not [39:50] necessarily setting up in the zone. [39:53] Plane has certainly had longer zone time [39:56] as that's tipped out by Weston Johnson [39:58] right into the path of Lachman. Lachman [40:00] on the backhand tries to center it. Hair [40:03] gets in the way. [40:06] >> Happens all the time. [40:09] >> Air cross ice pass. Tic-tac-toe as [40:11] Cunningham gains the zone. Flip back to [40:14] the sidewall for Kaden Johnson. [40:17] Johnson loses it. Banked off the near [40:20] side. Boards and out to center ice. [40:21] Cunningham will try to bank it back in [40:23] for Adams. Played up ahead. Left dot [40:26] shot and ultimately coming in and kind [40:30] of sandwiched between a pair of [40:32] defenders. And well played defensively [40:34] there by the Bengals. [40:36] >> Thought that was just really good [40:36] awareness by Adams to be able to turn [40:39] back and see that somebody had broken [40:41] into the zone and was able to make a [40:42] nice pass to get that shot on goal. [40:46] >> Lachman had it on lock down. [40:51] Centennial wins another draw, but Blaine [40:53] quickly steals it away. Chipped ahead [40:56] into the Centennial zone and out of play [40:59] ultimately into the Blaine bench. [41:03] >> Centennial coming in having won six of [41:06] seven games. Their only loss in that [41:07] time to former conference rival Maple [41:09] Grove. Who's Maple Grove? [41:11] >> That happens a lot. Don't worry about [41:12] it. [41:13] >> Not Elkrove. Point of fact, Maple Grove. [41:15] >> Well, you're I was my fault. We were [41:17] talking speech and you were from [41:19] Illinois. [41:19] >> But yeah, Her Herman Town, they lost 8-6 [41:22] to Hermantown in the good one. So, this [41:24] is a really kind of an unusual [41:25] Centennial game. Even their losses are [41:28] pretty high scoring. 6-2 to [41:31] Maple Grove. Like we said, working to [41:33] the outside now. Cougar centering pass. [41:35] It slides to the right wing corner. [41:40] Haki's pass is batted out of there. Now [41:43] Blaine trying to transition quickly. [41:45] Blue forced to the outside centering [41:47] pass trying to hit a cutting wall and he [41:49] missed the net. Walra battling down [41:52] there with Hami [41:55] and Julick banked Dak back in deep and [41:58] Blaine will [42:00] change on the fly. Oh, nice move in the [42:03] open ice as Cooper Dyke Mawa gains the [42:06] zone. Knocked down by Cooper Sterner. We [42:10] play on. [42:12] Here come the Bengals as they regain the [42:14] zone. Beautiful job on the back hand and [42:17] a good save. Great save as Brady Bouch [42:20] was looking for his second of the night. [42:21] Puck slides to the neutral zone and [42:23] recovered there by Porter Bayer. Bouch [42:27] regains the zone for the Bengals, but [42:30] Cooper Bear was offside. [42:31] >> Yeah, just a kind of a just bad timing [42:34] really was more of that cuz that [42:35] turnover happened right in the neutral [42:37] zone. And yeah, you're right. Centennial [42:39] is not used to playing in a lot of one- [42:41] nothing games this stage of the game. [42:42] They they like I said coming in they're [42:44] averaging five and a half goals but [42:45] they're also giving up almost four. So [42:48] they're used to these kind of [42:49] highscoring games. [music] [42:51] It's been a razor thin margin here so [42:54] far for the Cougars. [42:56] >> Border uh [42:59] Fouch and Nolan Border engage in a [43:01] pretty intense battle on the faceoff [43:04] below us. Pucks down in the Centennial [43:06] end. Centering or Blane in rather [43:08] centering pass there by Carl and it's [43:10] stolen and taken back by the Bengals and [43:12] once again [43:15] Harper and Bayer Boyer rather not on the [43:18] same page. [43:19] >> That was much closer. I actually thought [43:21] that one was okay but not referee on top [43:23] of that one. [43:25] >> So we'll do it again from the neutral [43:27] zone. [43:30] 11:02 to go second period. One- nothing [43:32] still our score. for the difference. A [43:34] Grady Bouch goal at uh 617 of the [43:38] opening period. [43:42] Good leave behind there by Cunningham as [43:44] Adams banks it in for Cunningham to [43:46] chase. Centering pass only finds a plain [43:49] stick. [43:51] Bengals exit tied up in the neutral zone [43:54] here by Licard. Chase to the far wall as [43:57] Johnson crunches Licar into the wall. [44:03] Bounding puck settled here. Adams into [44:06] the zone. Centers and a good block. Shot [44:09] doesn't even reach. Sandberg [44:14] stick to handling outside the right [44:15] circle. Back up to the point here with [44:18] Matthew Seagler. We'll ring it around to [44:20] the near sideboards just outside the [44:22] right circle. And now taken back by the [44:25] Bengals. Threeon two if they hurry. Nice [44:28] move there. Dropped across as Lachman [44:30] tried to find it. Lachman tried to find [44:33] Johnson in front. Ultimately, it's [44:34] intercepted and flung back down the ice. [44:37] Jenner Dietrich [44:40] leaves it here. There's a shot that's [44:41] always going wide here from Seagler. [44:45] Seagler on it again on the right half [44:47] wall. It's crunched into the boards [44:48] there. [44:51] Good physicality as Dietrich takes it [44:53] back in the neutral zone. goes cross ice [44:55] with it and it's banked in. [44:56] >> Centennials turned up the voltage. No [44:58] question. They're starting to hit and be [45:00] a little more physical. Starting to [45:01] skate a little harder in this zone. [45:04] >> One timer from the point. Blocked down [45:06] there. That looked like a sore one from [45:09] uh Cruz Harper. [45:11] Cruz with a Z. So, you know he's tough. [45:13] >> That's tough stuff. [45:15] >> Dietri shot deflected wide by Burns. [45:18] Comes up the far sideboards. Bounding [45:20] puck settled by Blaine. Cleared but not [45:23] out. [45:24] You're right. They have a little jump in [45:26] their step right now. [45:28] >> That shot was deflected. He couldn't [45:32] find the net. This has been the best [45:33] even strength sustained offense by [45:35] Centennial. [45:36] >> Now an opportunity here. Nate Walaf ALL [45:38] ALONE IN GOAL. SHOOTS AND A PASS SAVE [45:41] MADE by Anderly. [45:43] >> Sandberg. [45:44] >> Excuse me, Sandberg. [45:46] >> Got to give him credit when you get a [45:47] one-on-one goal. [45:48] >> It was almost the perfect call. Except [45:51] it wasn't. Great job by Sandberg to deny [45:56] Wallraf. I think that's the second time [45:58] he's [46:01] not allowed a goal and a breakaway as [46:03] Hamaki shoots from above the right [46:04] circle. As we take a look at this replay [46:06] with Walap, [46:08] he had nothing but daylight in front of [46:10] him and a right pad save. Good job by [46:12] Flynn Sandberg [46:14] >> to keep this a onegoal game. [46:15] >> And sometimes you just have to guess [46:17] right there when you're the goalie. And [46:18] I think that's exactly what Sanberg did. [46:20] He just kind of looked at how Walwrath [46:22] was coming in and didn't think he was [46:23] going to go to the right hand side, so [46:26] he just Gaston went left and was able to [46:28] block it. [46:29] >> Carl wins the draw forward, but the [46:31] Bengals sweep it around and out. [46:35] Haven't had a penalty in a little while. [46:37] Icing the call right here. 1712 shots in [46:40] favor of the Bengals for the game, [46:45] but four apiece here in this second [46:47] period. It's been a very even second [46:49] period, Tim. [46:50] >> Yeah, it's been a lot better for [46:51] Centennial, especially even strength. [46:53] And we were just talking about it and [46:54] then they almost gave up a breakaway [46:56] goal, but overall much better from [46:58] Centennial here in period number two. [47:01] >> Haviki at center ice goes DDD with the [47:03] pass and then it's flung cross cornered [47:08] off the end board. Centering pass [47:10] intercepted by Cruz Harper. [47:13] Over to Bouch. Bouch trying to split [47:15] defenders. Grady Pouch on the backand [47:17] drives the net and it's poked away. Well [47:20] defended there by Hamachi. Centering [47:22] pass cut out. Here comes Border down the [47:24] right wing. BORDER PLAYS IT ACROSS. [47:27] GREAT SKATE IN THE PASSING lane there by [47:29] Tanner Ferdig. [47:31] Back to the high slot. Spinning with it. [47:34] Off the far wall picked up by Cooper [47:36] Barrett. No support for Bayer. So he [47:39] pulls into the zone, brings it around [47:41] and goes off for a change. like the [47:43] unselfishness by Centennial, but I think [47:45] Border should have shot it. [47:47] >> Now on the back hand, a chance here FOR [47:49] CENTENNIAL. THEY TIE IT. KAYEN [47:52] [cheering] JOHNSON, his ninth OF THE [47:54] SEASON. ONE OUR SCORE. A terrific pass [47:59] ahead and a great individual effort. [48:02] [cheering] [48:03] >> Sometimes you just got to stuff it in [48:05] there and that's what Johnson did. He [48:07] had an opportunity. It wasn't the [48:08] hardest shot in the world, but he was [48:10] able to go five hole on the goender. [48:12] Just got to run it underneath and get [48:14] the greasy goal to tie the game at one. [48:19] >> Good job. Good strength to hold off the [48:21] defender Sam Burns who is all over him. [48:24] What a great pass and Kaden Johnson [48:30] with his ninth of the season. [48:34] >> We just thought they couldn't hold him [48:35] down that long, could they? I mean, [48:37] eventually this Cougar team that can [48:38] score was going to do it. [48:41] See who they give the assist to as [48:43] that's chopped out of there by Isaac [48:45] Adams. [48:47] >> The skates of Lachman. Flipped ahead. [48:52] Now Lockman intercepts it at center ice. [48:58] Run around to the far side. Goal line [49:01] extended now out to the high slot. Shot [49:04] fired. And a good save there by Samber. [49:09] goal of the season. Number 16, KALE [49:12] JOHNSON. [49:13] >> Lane holds and possesses out to the [49:16] right point. [49:20] >> Ham gets the assist. [49:24] >> So, it's Johnson from Hamaki at 9:30 of [49:28] the second period. And we've got a good [49:31] one here in this cat clash. [49:35] Wayne had a little bounce after that [49:36] goal trying to regain the lead. But now [49:39] Centennial possesses, [49:41] banked up ahead for Adams who gains the [49:43] zone. Adams wheels middle, shoots, and [49:45] it's blocked down by Dylan Olsen. Now [49:48] it's the Bengals. They've got a [49:49] collision at center ice. Bengals all [49:51] alone, shoots, and a save made. [49:55] >> Boy, that was a great chance for Lou. [49:57] >> Yeah, Frankie Lou had a great [49:58] opportunity there because the Centennial [50:00] players ran into each other in the [50:03] neutral zone and that opened up a free [50:05] pass to the net and he just flipped it [50:07] up and over. It was a Cougar collision [50:09] and then he missed the net. [50:13] 614 remaining [50:15] second period. [50:17] Cougars have outshot the Bengals 5-4 in [50:20] this period as [50:22] they battle for it in neutral ice. [50:24] Played on down towards Anderly who turns [50:26] it aside [50:29] on the backhand. Dietrich tries to play [50:32] it back to the point but it's stolen [50:34] away. [50:35] You're right. They are being the more [50:37] physical team through the neutral zone [50:38] is Centennial. [50:40] >> It's really the exact opposite of period [50:43] one, Bill. Really, I mean, Blaine did [50:44] all of this in period one and now [50:46] Centennial looks like they're taking it [50:47] to him. [50:48] >> Oh, bad turnover though here in the [50:49] right circle. Shot. Oh, and that had to [50:52] be a great reaction save by Anderly is I [50:56] don't know how Frankie Luke got that off [50:58] with such little room. [51:00] >> And I don't even know how Sanberg saw it [51:01] cuz it looked like he was being screened [51:03] nicely in front of the net. He was just [51:05] able to pop his hand up and get the nice [51:07] glove save. [51:09] >> Poetry in motion from Sandberg as he had [51:13] bodies in front in the form of Nate [51:16] Wallra. [51:16] >> He's been impressive tonight. I think [51:18] he's had to make some really tough [51:19] saves, but he has answered the call. [51:21] >> No doubt. Tipped ahead. Twoon one now [51:24] for Centennial. Wrist shot goes wide. It [51:27] comes up the near sideboards and all the [51:29] way out. Hair flips it cross corner [51:32] where Steer collects. [51:39] Pass intercepted at the blue line. [51:43] >> Now it's Centennial's turn to gain the [51:45] zone with speed. Sharp angle shot. Easy [51:47] pad save made. [51:50] Back and forth these two teams go. [51:54] Breathless action here in the second [51:57] period. [51:59] Bouch put on the brakes and then was [52:02] stapled to the wall. bounding puck. [52:05] Hamaki gets there first. [52:09] The Bear Boys battling down there. [52:13] And now what are we happening here? Oh, [52:14] they whistle. What are they do? Okay, [52:17] now we get to stop here because I think [52:18] teams were confused as to what was [52:20] happening. [52:22] >> Consider this broadcaster confused as to [52:24] what was happening. [52:25] >> I was Yeah, I was like, is this is we're [52:27] supposed to touch the puck here, right, [52:29] guys? Well, I was I wasn't sure if one [52:31] was trying to avoid an icing or a or or [52:33] or a delayed penalty or something. [52:36] >> Yeah, it was so bizarre there. [52:38] >> We have not had a penalty in the second [52:40] period. Famous last words. Still 4 [52:43] minutes and 37 seconds to go before our [52:45] second intermission. [52:47] >> Face off in the left circle of the [52:49] Blaine in one back by the Bengals. [52:53] Around the boards and out, tipped out by [52:55] Weston Johnson. [52:59] Johnson controls. [53:01] >> Good job by Adams to come back on the [53:03] for check. Back check IT OFF OF HIM. [53:06] >> Banked into the zone. Delayed offside [53:08] coming up. [53:10] Centennial has to check up and allows [53:13] Blaine to regroup. [53:15] Shared near side for Sam Burns. [53:19] Samberg out of his net kind of fumbles [53:21] it a little bit. Defensively able to [53:23] recover and it bounds over the stick of [53:25] a Blaine defender. Cunningham with all [53:28] kinds of pressure. This is Johnson at [53:30] center ice. Flips it up ahead. [53:34] Cunningham skates onto it. Cunningham [53:37] with some speed to the front of the net. [53:40] Good save by Anderly. [53:41] >> You could watch him shift right out of [53:43] the next gear there. [53:43] >> That was so impressive. [53:46] >> Like a 68 Shelby Cobra. [53:51] >> Good pad save made on the other end by [53:53] Samber. [53:55] You can't afford that car. How do you [53:57] know? [53:58] >> I just named the oldest and coolest car [54:00] I COULD THINK OF. [54:02] >> HEY, there was once one of the early [54:04] Ford models was the Hutmobile. [54:06] >> That would be the Model T 25 mph. [54:10] >> But yeah, that wasn't it wasn't a sports [54:11] car. [54:13] It was slow but dependable. [54:17] Drops tied up along the near side. [54:19] Boards at center ice with Wrath, but [54:21] Blaine able to force it in deep. [54:24] Wrath gives chase and collides with [54:27] Dietrich [54:31] >> you could easily beat the AMC pacer. I'm [54:33] sure [54:34] >> back to the left point now you've lost [54:37] deflected up and out of play by Julick [54:39] with just under 3 minutes to go here in [54:41] the second. [54:42] >> Yeah, Blaine just trying to find a [54:44] little a little something here in this [54:46] last 2 and 1/2 minutes. You can tell [54:48] that they've kind of been skating more [54:49] defensively. They've been on their heels [54:50] a little bit more. Centennial senses it. [54:53] That goal was really what they needed to [54:55] feel like, all right, we're in this [54:56] thing now. Let's turn up the heat on [54:58] this Bla team. Blaine won six to2 in [55:00] their first matchup back in December. [55:02] It's going to be a different one [55:03] tonight. [55:05] >> And has won the last couple, including [55:07] two nothing last year where Frankie Lou [55:10] scored both goals as a junior. Helped [55:13] along for Border tries to get it ahead [55:16] to a speeding Joey Heammer, but uh icing [55:19] is the call. Like I said, both of these [55:21] teams in the top four of the Northwest [55:23] Suburban Conference. The only thing [55:26] separating uh Centennial and Elk River [55:28] is that Elk River is 5-0 and [55:30] Centennial's 5-1. [55:32] One player we want to take a look on [55:34] here would be would be Heammer because [55:35] we haven't really seen much of him [55:37] outside of the two penalties tonight. He [55:39] hasn't had a lot of the great looks. [55:41] They've done a nice job of bottling him [55:43] up. Have the Bengals. [55:46] Yeah, he's been only thing he's really [55:48] done is commit a a pair of tripping [55:49] penalties in the first period. [55:52] >> Off the draw, Centennial carries it out. [55:55] >> They hold to the line [55:57] and Hair wires it in [56:04] into the right wing corner centering [56:06] pass. He hammer tried to go between the [56:08] legs looking for Carl's instead. It's up [56:10] ahead. [56:12] Good job defensively to come across and [56:14] I believe the play has been ruled [56:16] offside. I think we've seen that with [56:17] Blaine three or four times tonight. [56:19] >> I think Blaine is spending I think a [56:21] little too much time just trying to [56:23] break away and that time it's one-on- [56:25] two. You don't even have the numbers. [56:26] So, let's try to reset and find [56:28] something that works instead of just [56:30] jamming it in. I'd rather just dump and [56:32] chase at that point instead of running [56:33] into two straight Cougar defenders. [56:38] Cunningham [56:40] looking for Adams. It's off his stick [56:42] and at the blue line. Blaine banks it in [56:46] and offside or excuse me, icy is the [56:49] call. It's been a kind of a stop start [56:52] third second period here. [56:55] But you're right, no penalties though in [56:57] this second period. And when you have [56:58] two teams like this that like to play [57:00] physical, that like to get after each [57:01] other, to have no penalties in the first [57:03] in this period is kind of surprising [57:05] considering we had four in the first. [57:08] Yeah, teams have uh been on their best [57:10] behavior. Take a look at uh Wes Anderley [57:20] off the draw. Hami right wing or excuse [57:22] me right point [57:24] gets the puck back able to hold the zone [57:26] and flip it in deep but deflected off of [57:29] Bouch's stick [57:30] >> and out of play. [57:31] >> You feel like Centennial's been more [57:33] willing to do that this period to just [57:34] kind of dump it in from the point. Keep [57:36] it in. Let's check on let's check get [57:38] behind the net. Let's be physical and [57:40] keep the puck occupied in the zone. [57:42] Feels like that's been a good strategy [57:43] for the Cougars in this period. [57:48] >> They've outshot playing here. Shots [57:50] overall for the game. 20 to 16. [57:55] >> Burns around the board for Bayer. [57:58] Cuttingham at center ice [58:01] red lines it in and then takes a big [58:03] hit. And just when we said, "Hey, [58:05] tempers under control." It's Cunningham [58:08] and Bouch who mix it up as Bouch is [58:11] going to go for uh leaving a little too [58:14] much on Cunningham after he redlined [58:16] that in. [58:20] >> And that's one thing that if you're [58:21] Grady Bouch, those are penalties you [58:23] really just can't take. Not late in the [58:25] period like this when you're such an [58:27] essential scorer for the team. You can't [58:29] take penalties at the final two minutes [58:31] of a period. just ever, but not right [58:33] now. [58:34] >> Bouch with the ouch. [58:36] >> He absolutely labeled Cunningham. So, [58:40] Centennial goes back on the power play. [58:42] They're 0 for two tonight even though [58:44] they came in with a healthy 36% [58:48] um power play. [58:50] >> You are a wordssmith. You just you if [58:52] nobody's told you that before, Arnold, I [58:54] would [58:56] >> pair skates middle shares with Hamaki [58:59] down low. Two minutes for roughing. [59:02] at 1323. [59:07] >> Hami moves in, drops it back. [59:12] >> Hair just out of the reach of Hamaki. [59:18] Bengals trying to clear but can't. [59:22] Carl dancing with it down low. [59:25] Good job coming in by Dylan Olsen. [59:29] >> Cleared but not out. Hamaki [59:32] >> walks IT DOWN LOW. CENTERING PASS to a [59:34] cutting Isaac Adams, but he missed it. [59:37] Still possessed by Centennial. Carl [59:40] walks forward and he missed the net on [59:42] that shot. Carl in front again. And this [59:45] time the net has been knocked off. It's [59:48] >> It's It's Morren. [59:48] >> It's Morren. There you go. [59:50] >> There we go. What do we have for him, [59:51] Johnny? I get a toaster and a Quezite. [59:54] setting up the broadcast partner as Carl [59:57] with a couple chances and he really [59:59] tried to use the screen and kind of no [60:01] look the goalie right there. [60:02] >> Yeah, I thought he did a couple of [60:03] really nice stick handling moves. He [60:04] went behind a defender on one of them [60:06] and he had a couple clean opportunities. [60:08] Blaine's got to get get moving on this [60:10] penalty kill and get this thing out of [60:12] there. [60:13] >> 109 left. So once again, Centennial will [60:16] start a period on the power play as Hair [60:19] >> fires and a comfortable pad save made by [60:22] Anderly. [60:24] Still in the possession of the Cougars [60:26] thrown off the back of the end boards [60:28] and then the back of the net and then [60:30] it's underneath Cunningham sticking all [60:31] the way down. [60:32] >> That's a tough one for Cunningham, but [60:33] they can reset here for maybe one more [60:35] look with 25 to go in the period. [60:38] >> A 22 second difference between penalty [60:42] clock and game clock. Into the zone. [60:45] Hammer fires always rising. Lively end [60:49] boards made that interesting. 10 seconds [60:52] to go. bodies on the ice. Blame fans [60:55] want a penalty. None coming. Cunningham [60:57] comes toward it [61:00] >> and a late [61:01] >> now. Maybe there will be a penalty. [61:03] >> 3 seconds to go in the period [61:05] >> as uh looks like Daikawa. [61:10] >> Oh, right there. Those two guys. [61:12] >> So, that might be coincidental miners. [61:14] >> Sterner. Yeah, that is going to be [61:16] coincidental miners. And they're [61:17] continuing to jaw in the penalty box. [61:21] Have a cold one, boys. Not a not [61:23] literally a cold one. A Gatorade. [61:25] >> Just Yeah, I don't think they're [61:27] exchanging phone numbers for later or [61:28] anything like that. [61:29] >> Rich Many, meanwhile, is talking to his [61:31] team, taking this opportunity to [61:34] >> give a little instruction. [61:37] >> 3 seconds left in the period. 1-1 our [61:40] score. [61:40] >> The difference in the penalty kills. [61:41] Centennial more aggressive on their [61:43] penalty kills, taking pucks away. Blaine [61:45] has been content to play backwards. [61:47] They've got a very calm goalie in [61:49] between the pipes. [61:52] >> Draw one by Blaine. They'll just pin it [61:54] up against the wall and take the buzzer. [61:57] An entertaining second period. Back and [62:00] forth. Very evenly played shots for the [62:03] game now 20- [62:07] 18 after Centennial outshot [62:10] Blaine 10-7 [62:14] in that second period. Centennial ties [62:16] it up. We'll head to the third period. [62:19] Tied at one here in this cat clash on [62:21] North Metro TV. [62:28] [music] [62:34] >> Started the third period here in Circle [62:36] Pines. All tied up 1-1 in this boys [62:39] hockey cat clash. Let's take a look at [62:41] second period highlights. A very fun [62:45] period in which Centennial outshot [62:48] Blaine 10 to7 including ringing the post [62:51] right there. Blaine defensively clamped [62:54] down a little bit. Bengals had a real [62:56] opportunity with Nate Wal, but a great [62:59] pad save made by Flynn Sandberg [63:02] to keep it a one-goal game. [63:05] And then Centennial able to tie it up. [63:09] Great individual effort by Kaden Johnson [63:11] on the backhand to go five hole and [63:14] Natis at one. Centennial just like the [63:17] second period starts on the power play [63:19] here in the third period. Rich Many and [63:22] his team try to defend home ice and win [63:25] their 10th game of the season and stay [63:28] actually move into first place depending [63:31] on how Elk River did tonight. [63:35] Now potential twoon-one here for the [63:37] Bengals as they gain the zone. Shot in [63:39] the glove of Sandberg [63:42] and held on to with just two seconds [63:44] left on the power play. A short-handed [63:47] opportunity there for Wilson Guzzi. And [63:49] that'll pretty much kill this power play [63:51] as only two seconds left on it. That'll [63:53] get the Bengals back to full strength. [63:54] And you want to see if they can kind of [63:56] find the magic that they had in period [63:58] number one where they were really able [63:59] to control play when it was five on [64:01] five. [64:02] >> 0 for three. [64:05] Yeah, [64:06] >> each team three for three on the kill [64:08] tonight. Both goals coming even strength [64:10] as that's wired in cross corner. Goosey [64:13] on the backhand. [64:16] Good strength there by Porter to get it [64:19] in deep off the end of the net. [64:25] Whistle pass by Hair. [64:28] It's a loose stick on the ice. Unable to [64:31] get it out. Frankie Lou tries to go [64:33] right down Broadway. Shot and a good [64:35] save. Good job coming out and meeting [64:37] that by Samber. [64:40] Three on two. Oh, excellently played [64:43] there by Pter. Now Lou with a chance and [64:46] that's deflected up in the air. Walker [64:49] saving a big hit leveled by Nate WAL AND [64:52] THEY SCORE. THE WALL RAFF HIT LED TO A [64:56] turnover and the Bengals take a lead a [64:59] minute 13 into this third period. And [65:02] >> you were worried about that with that [65:03] one getting such a high deflection off [65:06] of Sandberg. It was just up and waiting [65:08] and somebody was going to get hit, but [65:10] it led to was a loose puck inside the [65:12] Centennial zone and it came right to [65:15] look at Yeah, right there. [65:17] >> Pter fired it inside the right post. [65:22] A great goal. 113 into the period. 2-1 [65:27] our score now. [65:31] >> Wayne wins the draw [65:34] as that's deflected to the corner. [65:37] Now the bounding puck control [65:41] back check up to Johnson as he drives [65:43] the net. Pad save made [65:48] >> for goal pooter number [65:51] two on the season. [65:54] Walap and Lou gets the get the assist. [65:58] Helper number seven for Walaf and number [66:00] 10 for Lou at time of the goal. 113. [66:04] And Blaine is the one with the early [66:07] jump coming out of the uh intermission. [66:10] >> Yeah, it gives you a nice boost when you [66:12] can come out and get a quick opportunity [66:13] like that. And that's all by putting [66:15] shots on net and challenging the keeper. [66:16] That's what they did right there. And it [66:18] worked. Gave them a follow-up chance. [66:20] >> Diagonal dump in by Blaine. right wing [66:22] corner [66:24] CENTERED IN FRONT. GREAT PAD save made [66:26] by Samberg. Didn't know where it was. [66:28] The bounding puck now BEHIND THE GOAL. [66:30] CENTERED out in front. Good shot block [66:35] off the attempt by Burns. And finally, [66:38] Centennial just tries to get it out. [66:40] Anywhere will do as the whistle blows [66:43] and each team will put fresh skaters on [66:47] the ice. But what a chance all alone in [66:49] front. [66:51] believe that was Cruz Harper on the [66:53] doorstep. [66:55] >> Some great a chances so far in this [66:58] period. Tim, [66:58] >> you really have to give credit to Blaine [67:00] for doing what they're doing. I thought [67:02] that one in front was going to go in for [67:03] sure. Great job by Sanberg to recover to [67:06] make that save cuz that could have been [67:07] Curtains if they got down two goals [67:08] here. That was a really big play by the [67:11] goalender Sanberg. But Blaine has [67:13] definitely turned up the heat yet again. [67:15] >> Six shots in the first two and 1/2 [67:17] minutes of the period for the Bengals. [67:18] So pucks on net says Trevor Freshman. [67:22] Collision in the neutral zone. Bench [67:24] wanted a trip. None coming. Dietrich [67:28] >> tied up with Sam Burns as they go to the [67:30] end boards. And Burns with a big hit. [67:33] >> Yeah, the the hitting has picked up a [67:34] little here too. And you're going to see [67:36] Centennial's urgency. [67:37] >> They know how much is at stake, [67:39] especially trailing now. Working to the [67:42] outside Harper. He wheels into the zone [67:44] and pulls up. Snaps a shot from the left [67:47] dot. And it's saved to the end boards. [67:51] >> Run around and out. [67:53] >> And now Weaving with it. Border into the [67:55] zone. He'll fire a shot from above the [67:57] right circle and chase it. Another good [68:00] save. [68:02] Olsen [68:04] moves it ahead. Carrying now Border into [68:06] the zone. or rather that's Harper [68:10] at center ice [68:13] tipped in where [68:16] it'll be chased around the wall to [68:18] Hammer. He loses it. Bad place. Hammer [68:22] dives AFTER IT. OPEN NET ON THE SIDE AND [68:25] THEY MISSED IT. OH, NATE Walaf with a [68:28] glorious chance to make it 3-1. [68:31] >> Turnovers in your own zone will get you [68:33] every time. Bengals taking advantage of [68:35] those things. Icing waved off. [68:39] Centennial able to get it out as Heammer [68:41] gets it to Carl. He avoids a check. Wall [68:44] raff behind his own net. [68:50] >> Up the wall. Surles keeps it in. [68:54] Carl has his pocket picked by Ferdig. [69:02] >> Centennial just needs to sustain the [69:04] puck for a little while. try to get it [69:05] in the blame zone. Had get some momentum [69:08] on their side. [69:09] >> Central zone trap set up by [69:13] Centennial. [69:15] Tipped out [cheering] back into the [69:18] Centennial end. Good job of poise there [69:21] for a moment anyway by Eddie. Drops [69:29] pinned to the wall. Fights it off and [69:31] manages to get it over to Carl. [69:35] He goes side to side with it. Centering [69:37] pass for Sles. [69:41] >> Cycled down low. Picked up there by [69:44] Dylan Olsen [69:46] >> on a backhand. And that one just went [69:48] past the left post. [69:51] >> Really chance by Centennial. [69:53] >> 2721 now in favor of the Bengals. [69:56] Dipping the shoulder and getting to the [69:57] front of the net. Boy Bayer centering [70:00] pass. We've got a delayed penalty coming [70:02] up. [70:05] And it'll be Blaine back on the power [70:07] play with a chance to increase its lead. [70:10] >> Yeah, they're going to get number 16 [70:12] Kaden Johnson right there on that uh hit [70:15] from behind. So going to the box there [70:17] is Johnson and that's going to get you [70:19] two more minutes for the Bengals. And [70:20] again, this is a critical opportunity [70:22] here for Blaine and Centennial cuz it's [70:24] a 2-1 Bengals lead. A goal here in a [70:27] game like this. Normally, you wouldn't [70:28] say Centennial's out of it because they [70:30] can score a bunch of goals, but getting [70:31] down two at this stage of the game could [70:33] be trouble for them. [70:35] >> Time of the penalty 522. Interference [70:38] the call. [70:41] >> In fact, [70:43] >> they're going to give [70:43] >> two players are going to be in. So, it's [70:45] a five on [70:48] >> that penalty, too, cuz I I thought [70:50] Surles was pretty in there as well. I'm [70:53] really surprised that they did both [70:55] right there in that spot. [70:58] will await the official announcement, [71:00] but [71:02] >> fifth penalty of the night taken by [71:04] Centennial and a five on three for the [71:07] next two minutes with Surl's [71:10] assessed number [71:14] >> down low goal line extended play catch [71:17] with its [71:25] >> two minutes for hookie. [71:27] the hooking and interference as Wayne [71:30] some target practice now five on three [71:33] really packed in tight. THERE'S A SHOT [71:35] TO SCORE. [71:37] The Bengals take 28 seconds to punish [71:42] Centennial [71:44] and they take advantage of the five on [71:46] three. It's Tanner Ferdig goal number [71:49] four of the season. [71:51] Yeah, you can't give good teams chances [71:54] on five on three because they will make [71:56] you pay for it. You could see just like [71:58] you said, Bla is just kind of playing [71:59] with their food there on the power play. [72:01] Just moving it back and forth, waiting [72:03] for the right chance and then it just [72:05] opened up and sure enough they were able [72:07] to put it away. That was a nice shot by [72:09] Ferdig and they still get a power play [72:12] at five on four. So this is still [72:13] trouble for Centennial. [72:15] >> Yeah, one penalty releases but not both. [72:18] So Sles remains in the box. [72:21] As uh [72:24] the two teams wait to sort things out, [72:26] Rich Mini is talking to both officials, [72:28] both referees. [72:30] >> Clearly displeased [72:32] with something. Doesn't have a lot of [72:35] nice things to say. Maybe about that [72:36] five on three. [72:38] >> Maybe asking how their Christmas was. I [72:40] don't think it was quite that pleasant. [72:44] >> We'll see if who gets the assist. [72:48] Johnson [72:51] >> Johnson and Harper the assists on that [72:54] uh Ferdig goal [72:57] >> on the power play. Still a minute 12 [72:59] left on the SLS minor [73:02] for hooking. [73:05] So Blaine with a chance to really crack [73:09] this open. 1042 remaining in the hockey [73:11] game. 3-1. [73:13] >> And you say Tim that this is the most [73:15] dangerous lead in hockey. The two goal [73:17] lead. two goal lead is a little bit [73:18] dangerous, right? I mean, you don't want [73:20] to set back if you're Blaine. This is [73:22] why being on the power play is still [73:23] good cuz you can turn up the heat and [73:25] still try to score on a power play. [73:28] >> One to the end boards by the Bengals [73:32] who have now widened their shots lead to [73:34] seven for what it's worth. Cross ice [73:37] pass as they regain the zone and slam on [73:39] the rakes. [73:41] >> Back to the point, [73:43] >> center point tic-tac-toe passing for the [73:45] Bengals. [73:47] Bayer goes back to Pteret one-time and a [73:50] good save. [73:53] >> Could be even worse if not for the [73:56] excellent play of Sandber. No question. [73:58] >> Goal line extended trying to feed Porter [74:00] Bay on the far side and the goal has [74:04] been knocked off its things. [74:05] >> The I prefer things. I don't know. I [74:07] just think it's easier to remember. [74:10] [laughter] [74:10] >> But excellent opportunities. Some talk [74:12] about some great a chances. Blaine has [74:14] certainly had those in this period. [74:16] >> And this is why I think if you're [74:17] Blaine, you stay aggressive because I [74:19] don't think you want to think two goals [74:21] is safe cuz 10 minutes is still a lot of [74:22] time and there's a lot that can change. [74:24] Yes, there's a lot that can change. [74:26] >> Good scoring team. Carl moves in to take [74:29] a draw off of Lou against Lou and he [74:31] wins it. Cleared but not out. Gloved [74:34] down nicely by Harper. [74:38] Now sent and a whiff on the pass by [74:40] Ferdig. is able to maintain possession, [74:43] but they got a touch up. [74:46] >> Deflected into the zone by Harper. [74:49] Now Carl walks the line. Good hit ahead [74:51] pass here. Chance for Border and he [74:53] shoots it wide. Delayed penalty coming [74:56] up though as Border was racing ahead and [75:00] a slash the call on Ferie. [75:03] >> Yeah, that's going to put Blaine on the [75:04] power on the penalty kill right away. [75:06] This is big for Centennial [75:09] and they started with a great pass. That [75:11] was a beautiful feed from Carl's. They [75:13] got a great chance to get that look on [75:15] net. [75:18] >> Yeah, I mean that just to spring him. [75:20] Carl's walking the blue line for a [75:22] second. Just looked up and hit his [75:26] teammate in stride. [75:29] 939 to go in the third. [75:33] It'll be four on four for literally a [75:35] second and then [75:38] >> and then Centennial will uh have the [75:41] power play as Rich Mini wants to talk to [75:45] the ref. [75:45] >> And he's got five guys on the ice right [75:47] now. So, he's going to have to jettison [75:49] one of them [75:50] >> and figure out. [75:52] >> Well, English major, you know, it works [75:54] for me. [75:56] >> It's like you're a speech coach or [75:57] something. [75:58] >> Speech coach, English teacher, you know, [75:59] we do it all. hockey announcer hanging [76:02] out with you. It's a good time. [76:04] >> That's right. That's right. So, one of [76:07] those players has been jettisoned. He [76:09] awaits on the boards to hop on the ice. [76:14] Carl moves in to take the face against [76:16] Guzzi. [76:21] Wins it forward. Goes down. Cougars back [76:24] to full strength. And we've got another [76:26] delayed penalty coming up as the [76:27] tripping call will be made. drops, [76:30] throws it in front. Backhanded effort [76:33] and the whistle blows as the extra [76:35] attacker had hopped on the ice. So off [76:38] of the face off, Carl moved forward and [76:41] I believe that's going to be Goozy. [76:43] >> Boy, now you get five on three the other [76:45] way. So boy, what a turn of events. [76:48] Blaine was on the power play looking for [76:50] a knockout punch and now they've got to [76:53] try to kill five on three. Cougars can [76:55] score on the power play here. All of a [76:57] sudden, it's 3-2 with plenty of time [76:59] left. So, this thing is really swung [77:02] 180° here. And if Centennial can cash [77:04] in, this could be a wild final 8 minutes [77:07] or so. [77:07] >> Yeah, like you said, five on three now. [77:11] Whistle has blown. [77:13] >> Timeout. [77:15] >> Timeout by Centennial. A wise use of the [77:18] timeout here with less than 10 minutes [77:20] to play just before the draw was taken. [77:23] And this isn't Rich Manny's first day at [77:25] the rodeo. Like he understands like what [77:27] how important this is. And so getting a [77:29] good set and a good plan here on this [77:32] five on three is important. Wants to [77:34] make sure that everybody's knowing what [77:35] the assignment is in this moment cuz [77:38] this is really the game. You got to get [77:40] a goal in this five on three. Have to. [77:41] You cannot come away empty. [77:43] >> Yeah. Not the way not the way Blaine's [77:45] been defending. They've been selling [77:46] out. They've been blocking shots. They [77:49] know what it means to go on the road and [77:51] and get a victory. be their third [77:54] straight over Centennial after [77:56] Centennial had had a great run when they [77:58] were making section five semiis and [78:00] finals. They they had pretty well [78:03] dominated Blaine for a couple years [78:04] there. [78:06] But [78:08] the worm has turned as they say and now [78:10] Trevor Freshman and the boys [78:14] trying to [78:15] >> want to make sure that everybody [78:16] >> minimize the damage [78:18] >> you know and I know that they work on [78:19] these specialty things at time in [78:21] practice. you know, how do we handle [78:22] five on threes when we're on the kill? [78:24] What's our strategy? Who goes where? How [78:26] far do we cheat out? [78:28] And they must be happy to have that [78:30] two-goal lead. Even if they did concede [78:33] one on this power play, they'd still [78:36] be in the lead as Cunningham shares it [78:39] near side for Hair. [78:42] Hair above the left circle for [78:43] Cunningham. They play catch [78:47] down low. Carl's back UP TOP. CUNNINGHAM [78:49] ONE-TIME. THEY SCORE. AN ABSOLUTE LASER [78:53] BY KADEN JOHNSON. HIS [cheering] SECOND [78:56] OF THE GAME. CUTS THE LEAD to one. [78:59] >> That's what you do in the five on three. [79:01] And I know that Sam Burns wasn't happy [79:03] about something. Maybe he thought he got [79:04] held or something in front of the net, [79:07] but a great job cycling the puck by [79:09] Centennial. [79:11] And now we've got a one-goal game and [79:13] still almost a full power play with a [79:15] minute 44 left to go. This is almost a a [79:18] exact clip of what happened with Blaine [79:20] earlier. [79:21] >> Beautifully worked from Carl's to [79:25] Cunningham [79:27] and they just shifted it aside. That's [79:29] the Ovuchkin shooting spot [79:32] and he made no mistake on the power play [79:36] at 749 in the third period. [79:40] His second goal of the evening is 10th [79:42] of the season number 16 [79:45] Johnson. [79:46] >> [cheering] [79:46] >> Aiden Johnson lighting the lamp here. [79:50] >> It's Cunningham. [79:53] >> Cooper Hair get the assist. [79:56] >> 32 now our score. And they're still on [79:59] the power play themselves. Five on four. [80:03] 749. So a pair of power play goals here [80:06] backto back for both teams [80:09] have made things exciting for this last [80:11] eight and a half minutes. [80:12] >> Yeah, what a swing. It was 1-1 after the [80:14] second period. And you thought Blaine [80:16] coming out getting two goals quickly in [80:18] this period. That was going to be it. [80:19] But now Blaine just by making their own [80:21] mistakes. [80:26] >> And now we'll see how patient Centennial [80:28] wants to be to set up this next power [80:30] play opportunity. They got 45 seconds. [80:32] Plenty of time. [80:33] >> Carl weaving into the zone. Switch [80:35] defenders. Excellent [cheering] defense [80:37] there by Sterner to knock it off his [80:39] stick. Hair [80:42] walks, holds Sterner drops it for Hair. [80:49] >> This is the cycle they needed to do. [80:51] >> Wants it back. Hair fires it. Comes up [80:54] around the other side of the boards. [80:57] >> Little bit of confusion there as Border [81:00] feeds Carl's down low just out of his [81:02] reach. Fering able to get there first. [81:04] Bounty puck finally squirts free out of [81:07] the zone with 9 seconds left. might [81:09] catch him on a change. [81:12] >> Work to the outside by Burns. Carl in [81:16] front and a lost it. And a good job by [81:18] Sterner to clear it. [81:19] >> Yeah, that was a big one cuz Carl was [81:21] right there looking to get a shot. [81:22] Sterner just got the stick in the right [81:24] place and they were able to get a clear [81:26] and end that power play. [81:29] >> Now Blaine's got to settle down with a [81:30] 3-2 lead in seven minutes to play here [81:32] in the third period. [81:35] >> Backhanded in deep. [81:39] board battle in the right wing corner. [81:41] One by Centennial [81:44] >> Dietrich [81:45] battling with fellow number three [81:47] Franklin Lou [81:51] able to force it in. Guzzi tries to tow [81:53] drag his way through and it's knocked [81:55] off the stick. near wall. Dietrich [81:59] gets it into the zone. [82:02] >> Got another [82:06] >> and I believe we're going to get another [82:07] penalty. [82:08] >> So now second period was pretty clean [82:11] how each team can't stay in the box. [82:13] >> Well, you're starting to see the the [82:14] kind of the because it's it's that time, [82:17] right? It's it's the it's the crunch [82:19] time of a game and this is what happens [82:20] when you get to those moments is that [82:22] you know players start to take a few [82:24] more advantages. They try to find an [82:26] edge wherever they can. And this is a [82:27] penalty that comes up big on Blaine [82:30] >> Goozy. The second straight time he's sat [82:32] in the box here. And now it's Trevor [82:34] Freshman who wants an explanation from [82:36] our two referees. [82:39] 642 to go here in the third. Bill Huff, [82:42] Tim Anderson here on North Metro TV. [82:46] >> Competitive cat clash. Coach Firstman [82:50] maybe not as animated as coach Menny was [82:52] a little bit earlier, but still plenty [82:54] uh doesn't seem as thrilled with this [82:56] call either. [82:58] >> No. And I not sure what the call was, [83:01] but we await the official announcement. [83:05] Now Blaine, some defensive work to do. [83:08] That's their seventh penalty of the [83:11] night. [83:11] >> Yeah. I mean, [83:12] >> and only one of those was a coincidental [83:14] minor. So [83:16] >> they uh [83:17] >> see if we can see what happened to get [83:19] Uzi in the box. [83:21] I [83:21] >> mean all right maybe right there. [83:23] >> Yeah, maybe a slash on Sills. That was a [83:27] delayed call then if [83:28] >> not a ton on that. I don't even know if [83:30] he made contact either, but [laughter] [83:31] that's that's the call. [83:37] >> That was it. [83:39] 10:18 the time of the penalty [83:42] >> as Guzzi goes for slashing after going [83:45] for tripping just a few minutes ago. [83:48] Cunningham [83:50] circling the zone for Hammer. [83:54] PASS BIG REBOUND. JUICY WIDE OPEN NET [83:58] and somehow it stays out. Centennial [84:00] able to hold the zone nicely with hair. [84:03] Fires it across. It comes up the near [84:05] side boards for Heammer. He's crunched [84:07] into the glass by Lachman. And now [84:09] Blaine with an opportunity. Burns gains [84:13] the zone. Good stick to knock down that [84:15] cross ice pass. Back comes Cooper Dawa. [84:20] Sharp angle shot. He gloves it down and [84:22] follows his own rebound. Back to the [84:25] point here. Deflected up high off the [84:28] glass. Where's the pucket? Goes to the [84:30] far sideboards. Centennial. All kinds of [84:33] pressure on this power play. drops with [84:36] a screen in front. Gets it to the front [84:39] of the net. [84:41] Sharp angle shot off the left post and [84:44] it's wired back to center ice drops. [84:47] Good job keeping it from going down to [84:49] the other end. [84:51] Emmer at the point. Deflected up by [84:54] Bayer and out of play. [84:56] >> And look out everybody on the Blaine [84:57] bench as we get a look at this previous [84:59] chance that they had on the power play. [85:01] This is them cycling it around [85:02] beautifully. Got the nice screen in [85:04] front. got a look and had that chance as [85:06] you mentioned that juicy look as you [85:08] said [85:09] >> Emmer had a gaping net after the [85:11] goalender [85:14] >> Anderly was sprawling 37 seconds left on [85:17] the goozi slash [85:21] 32 our score with 518 to play [85:24] >> and I like this line on the ice right [85:25] here with Carl's the way he's been able [85:27] to play with Border's had a lot of good [85:29] looks [85:30] >> drops walks the line feeds down low one [85:33] timer that goes wide side. May have [85:35] gotten a piece on it. Adams just outside [85:38] the left circle. Border back to drops at [85:41] the line. Border skates middle. Cook. [85:44] Big collision. [85:47] Down low for Carl's behind the net. He [85:49] gets taken down. No call. [85:53] [cheering] Puck loose for drops. Good [85:55] shot block there by Boy Bayer. [85:58] Now Porter Bayer able to skate it out. [86:01] Bayer just trying to kill some time as [86:03] he's forced to the outside. Oh, good [86:05] strip there by Hamaki. [86:09] >> Back to full strength. Both teams inside [86:12] of five minutes left [86:16] of a a good exposure. Throws it on net [86:21] speculatively. Adams now back at the [86:23] point. Cross ice Hami. Another pad save [86:27] made by Anderly. [86:29] Those are pretty easy when he sees it [86:31] like that. You don't have a screen in [86:32] front. [86:33] >> Yeah, that's what they're kind of That's [86:34] Blaine's okay with those. They'll [86:35] they'll let that happen. And Andrew [86:37] Leley's been up to the task tonight as [86:38] well, having another nice night. That's [86:39] 24 saves. [86:41] >> OH, LOOK OUT. [86:41] >> OH, big rebound in front. Oh, little bit [86:44] of a miscommunication there between [86:46] defenseman and goalender, [86:48] >> but playing able to clear it anyway. [86:52] Don't forget to stay tuned with us [86:53] postgame when Tim will have a couple [86:55] players from the winning team. [86:58] >> Postgame interviews here. [87:00] >> We'll see if that's three and a half [87:01] away or if it's longer. [87:03] >> Yeah. [87:06] >> Dietrich trying to track it down in the [87:08] far wing corner. He's gets there. [87:10] Centering pass, but only Blaine was [87:12] there. [87:13] Three and a half minutes left. [87:17] Wire it in and then give chase. These [87:20] teams are starting to really hit. [87:22] >> Yeah, Centennial especially looks like [87:24] they're trying to they're looking for [87:26] that every time. Kellen Surles turns it [87:28] over. [87:30] >> Johnson [87:31] somehow manages to get it over to [87:33] Lachman. Lachman tied up there by [87:36] Daikawa. [87:38] >> Now he and Daikawa getting [cheering] [87:40] to it right in front of the referee. And [87:42] now we've got a delayed penalty coming [87:43] up. [87:46] >> Lane bench doesn't seem pleased. [87:52] Come on. [87:53] >> Yeah, they're not loving it because they [87:54] feel like it's two guys battling for the [87:57] puck right there and having a word [87:58] afterward and it just feels like one [87:59] guy's getting punished over the other. [88:01] And I think that's where coach Frisman's [88:03] trying to say like, "Hey, I I get it. [88:06] Maybe we were John or maybe we got into [88:07] it." But listen, he's doing stuff with [88:09] us, too. Like he was hitting at me just [88:12] the same. And like to think that [88:14] coincidental. [88:15] >> Yeah, if anything coincidental. Lachman. [88:17] Second time in the box for him tonight [88:19] for the sophomore. [88:21] But boy, 3 minutes to go in the game. [88:24] Two-minute penalty. [88:27] Once again, the Blaine penalty kill [88:28] called into action. [88:31] Fires on and Anderly clears it or [88:34] Anderly saves it. [88:36] >> Cooper Bayer fell down trying to clear [88:38] it, but Blaine manages to get it all the [88:40] way down. [88:42] >> Roughing at 14 minutes. Yeah, if [88:44] anything that's [88:47] >> I can understand the Blaine coaching [88:49] staff's argument. [88:52] >> I don't love that call in that spot. [88:54] >> No, he he agreed. Bounding puck in the [88:57] right circle, picked up and then flipped [88:59] out. Flipped ahead for Cooper Bear to [89:01] chase. He'll get there first and then [89:05] try to just pin up against those end [89:06] boards. [89:09] Nearing two minutes to go in the hockey [89:10] game. 32 our score. Blaine trying to [89:15] hang on [89:16] for what would be their second straight [89:19] win and their probably their biggest of [89:21] the season [89:24] and this would put them up into second [89:27] place in the conference. [cheering] [89:31] Clung all the way down on the hustle. [89:33] Now he back checks against Carl. Speedy [89:36] Carl races away from him. Works to the [89:39] outside. Carl feeds in front. Nobody [89:41] home. Drops. Gives it near side for [89:44] Adams. Back to drop center circle. Now [89:46] it's Adams. Drops in the high slot. [89:51] Extra attacker on. Shot loose. PUCK [89:53] LOOSE IN FRONT. THEY'RE JAMMING AT IT. [89:54] AND THEY SCORE. AND THEY'VE TIED THIS [89:57] HOCKEY GAME AT THREE. IT'S ISAAC ADAMS [90:00] [cheering] [90:01] ON THE DOORSTEP WITH GOAL NUMBER SEVEN. [90:05] >> OH, WAIT A MINUTE. [90:06] >> THINKS THEY GOT A GOAL ON THE OTHER [90:07] SIDE. [90:07] >> HOLD EVERYTHING. [90:09] HOLD EVERYTHING. Centennial celebrating. [90:13] Blaine meanwhile. [90:15] >> Cooper Sterner raced down to the other [90:17] end and shot [90:18] >> alertly too because I think they didn't [90:20] think they saw something and and there [90:22] was a big distraction here. This is [90:24] going to be weird no matter what call [90:26] they make. [90:27] >> Oh boy. One fan base, one side of us to [90:29] the left or right is going to be very [90:31] unhappy [90:34] >> cuz this is a massive call. obviously [90:36] was the call of the game [90:38] >> in the third. [90:40] >> So, did you call a goal or not on the [90:42] Centennial side here? That is the [90:44] question. And it looks like it did. They [90:45] did. I thought so. [90:46] >> We reacted based on Centennial [90:49] celebrations, not necessarily on the ref [90:52] pointing at the goal. [90:55] So, now they're confabbing in front of [90:58] the scorers table as each team awaits [91:02] the verdict. [91:03] >> I don't think I've ever seen this. This [91:05] is so interesting. [91:07] >> No, [91:10] >> Rich Manny is reacting disappointedly. [91:13] >> But you boy, to give the goal to Blaine [91:15] here, it'd be unbelievable. [91:18] >> And you'd have to, right? If you didn't, [91:20] if you hadn't blown the play dead and [91:21] you didn't award a goal to Centennial, [91:24] >> if that's a live puck, then Blaine have [91:26] to get the goal. Yeah. [91:27] >> Yeah. [91:32] >> Mitch Manny. So they're playing Chelsea [91:33] Dagger and and the the the the play [91:36] continued. [91:39] >> Rich Manny obviously very disappointed. [91:42] Trevor Freshman, [91:44] >> but he's trying to also say like, "Hey, [91:46] but my players are completely distracted [91:48] by music, by sound, and nobody's blowing [91:50] the play dead." Like, what's happening [91:51] here? [91:52] >> I mean, credit to his players. They [91:53] played into the whistle. [91:56] >> Now the question is, yeah, did did a [91:58] whistle ever blow? Doesn't sound like [92:00] they did because the Blaine players [92:02] reacted accordingly. Again, credit [92:04] Sterner. Let's take another look at [92:05] this. [92:13] >> I He didn't actually signal. [92:15] >> Yeah, he didn't signal. [92:18] >> On the far side, [92:20] >> he's not reacting. Yeah, everybody's [92:22] celebrating except the captain. [92:24] >> And meanwhile, there's an empty net on [92:26] the other end cuz they had the extra [92:27] attack around. Now the question is, did [92:29] that even go into the net? Our guys in [92:31] the truck, it looked like it almost was [92:32] a it should it could have been a goal. [92:34] >> I mean, I saw Sterner tap it in on the [92:36] other. [92:36] >> I saw that one for sure, but did that [92:38] Centennial actually go in? And did the [92:40] ref not see it? That's the question. [92:42] >> Yeah, that deserves a [92:46] >> closer replay. There's still 28 seconds [92:48] left [92:49] >> on the roughing. [92:50] >> Never seen this before. This boy, [92:53] anytime you come to a game, something [92:54] crazy, right? So, [92:56] >> well, certainly you'll have to ask the [92:58] boys about that in the post. [92:59] >> Oh my goodness. It's the first thing [93:01] that we'll talk about whenever we get to [93:02] that place. [93:04] >> What is this call officially? [93:08] >> Of course, these kids know each other [93:10] pretty well. So, they're [93:12] >> they're having a combo about it, too. [93:14] >> Yeah. Yeah. Rich Manny is beside himself [93:18] and and understand that is an [93:20] incredulous look for the coach. I mean, [93:22] for the conference title, this is an [93:24] important game as we talked about in the [93:26] open. [93:27] >> That is an incredulous look from a coach [93:29] who's clearly not happy about what is [93:32] potentially coming down here. And we [93:34] haven't seen coach Frisman react to much [93:35] here. He's just been kind of sitting and [93:38] waiting. [93:39] >> Yeah. Well, and at a certain point, he's [93:40] going to be like, "Hey, can we finish [93:42] this game?" You know, guys, it's 9:20. [93:45] >> Um [93:48] >> Yeah. And you know, you you talked about [93:51] it. The first period pretty cleanly [93:53] played second period, but the third [93:55] period has definitely been more penalty [93:57] filled. [93:59] >> Centennial has certainly had [94:00] opportunities. 32 it remains. [94:03] >> Are they So, are they not giving this [94:05] goal [94:06] >> to either team? It seems [94:08] >> I feel like we need a clarification from [94:09] the PA guy, too. [94:10] >> Yeah. Where where's the right breath? [94:13] All right. So, a minute 28 left. 28 [94:17] seconds left on the power play. [94:18] Centennial with another crack at it. [94:21] Trailing by a goal. Hair into the zone. [94:26] Wheels with it. Feeds it across. Good [94:29] stick in the passing lane there by [94:30] Guzzi. [94:32] Sharp angle shot. Shot blocked. Guzzi [94:35] goes down. He blocks a shot loose in the [94:37] slot. Gets punched to the corner. He [94:40] cycles it down low. [94:43] >> One minute to go in the game. [94:45] Hair passes it across. [94:48] >> Bengals are back to full strength. [94:52] Hair center circle throws it in front [94:54] and Anderly covers. [94:59] 47.6 [95:00] seconds left. The net is empty. So the [95:04] extra attacker is on for Centennial. [95:12] >> Three to our score. [95:15] Under a minute to play. Carl will move [95:18] in to take the draw against Guzzi. [95:21] >> Carl swings it back to Hair. [95:26] Centering pass only finds Franklin. NEW [95:28] BIG COLLISION AT THE BLUE LINE. [95:33] >> And we'll see if they stop it and call a [95:35] penalty. Certainly Blaine wanted a [95:38] penalty [95:39] as I don't think Goozy appreciated that [95:41] or or Lou didn't appreciate that I [95:43] should say. The icing stops the clock [95:46] with 36 seconds left as you see coming [95:49] off the bench. That's a dangerous play. [95:57] Tensions running high here at Centennial [95:59] Ice Arena. shots 28-26 in favor of the [96:02] Bengals [96:04] as Centennial scrapping trying to find [96:07] that game tying goal to extend this [96:09] hockey game. [96:12] Hammer plays it across. Time running [96:15] short. 28 seconds left. Hammer with 26 [96:18] seconds down the left wing. Passes it [96:20] ahead to Cunningham. Cunningham weaving [96:23] into the zone and we've got an offside [96:27] delayed offside as he and Border [96:30] couldn't get on the same page. Border [96:33] was kind of trying to walk the line [96:34] giving him a bit of a screen. So the [96:37] faceoff will take place in the neutral [96:40] zone in front of the Blaine bench. [96:45] Shots in this period 8 to eight. [96:50] banked off the boards and all the way [96:52] down another icing. [96:57] Yeah, 88. My calculations are correct. [97:01] So, been about as entertaining and wild [97:04] a third period as you could have asked [97:05] for between two teams each seeking their [97:09] 10th win of the season. [97:14] 15 seconds left. Carl wins it forward, [97:17] but Blaine sweeps it down. We'll [97:21] do it again. [97:22] >> Third straight icing for Blaine. [97:28] >> Stay tuned once again for Tim Anderson's [97:30] postgame interviews [97:32] with two members of the winning team as [97:34] Trevor Freshman looks on. [97:38] 11 seconds left. Extra attacker on the [97:40] ice. [97:44] This time it's Border who can't win the [97:47] draw. rung around. Carl digs it out of [97:50] the corner. [97:52] It's trapped UP AGAINST THE WALL AND THE [97:54] BENGALS ARE GOING TO HANG ON. [97:59] PREDICTABLY, a coming two of players [98:05] as time expires. Frustrations running [98:08] high for Centennial, who thought they'd [98:10] tied it with a minute 13 left. [98:14] ultimately was ruled a no goal because [98:17] the whistle never blew. [98:20] >> So now Coolerheads prevailing [98:23] here as Centennial frustrated to drop [98:27] this cat clash [98:29] >> with so many familiar faces. [98:33] >> Blaine improves to 10 five and one on [98:36] the season. 31-1 in conference play. Be [98:40] back with postgame interviews in a [98:42] moment. 32 our final in an exciting cat [98:45] clash here at Centennial Icer. [98:52] >> Blaine scores twice in the third period [98:54] to hang on for an exciting 32 victory [98:58] over Centennial on the road. And our Tim [99:01] Anderson is down ringside with Nate Wal [99:03] [music] and Grady Bouch. [99:06] >> All right. Thanks very much, Bill. [99:08] Appreciate that. Yes, nice win for the [99:09] Blaine Bengals. standing with a couple [99:11] guys who helped make that happen here [99:13] this evening. Nate Walth, Grady Bouch, [99:15] we're going to hear from Grady in just a [99:16] second, but Nate, let's start with you. [99:18] Felt like they had a tough time kind of [99:19] matching up with your size and speed [99:21] tonight. You had a couple breakaway [99:22] opportunities and were able to cash in [99:23] in the third. Talk a little bit about [99:25] your performance tonight. [99:26] >> Yeah, I mean, great game from all of us. [99:28] You know, we buzzed out there. Couldn't [99:30] do it without all the boys and like [99:32] yeah, we just worked out there. [99:33] >> It was a it was a really physical game. [99:35] I really got more physical in the third [99:36] period, but I thought you guys came out [99:38] in the first period with a lot of [99:39] energy. really took it to them when it [99:41] was even strength. It looked like you [99:42] guys had the advantage. Talk about kind [99:44] of your mindset as the game started and [99:46] how you were able to kind of impose your [99:48] defensive will on them a little bit. [99:49] >> Well, yeah, we knew Centennial had [99:51] nothing on us and we were a lot bigger [99:53] team and we knew we could dominate them [99:54] 200 feet. [99:56] >> It's a full rivalry with you guys. [99:58] Obviously, as you can see, you guys have [99:59] gotten the better of them now. The last [100:00] handful of times you've met them, this [100:02] has really looked like your thing. Uh, [100:04] how does the rest of the season shape up [100:05] for you now that you've kind of gotten [100:06] past this big rivalry game? Um, yeah, [100:09] every game's the same. You know, we work [100:10] 100% no matter what. And, uh, we treat [100:12] every game as it's championship game. [100:14] >> Love it. Thanks so much, Nate. Let's go [100:16] over here. Grady, you got the start in [100:18] this thing tonight. You got the goal [100:19] scoring going in the first period. Talk [100:21] about that goal and kind of how you got [100:22] the got the thing going for the Blaine [100:24] Bengals tonight. [100:25] >> Yeah, it wouldn't have happened without [100:26] my linemates pushing the pushing the D [100:28] to the middle with there. I was able to [100:30] take the puck. Lineate went back door, [100:32] so he was always an option, but uh, [100:34] their D overplayed it, so I just took [100:35] the shot. I got to ask about this thing [100:37] here at the end of the game. This goal, [100:39] this goal, no goal. Maybe it was a goal [100:42] down here. Can you tell me what happened [100:43] here? [100:44] >> Yeah, I honestly I wasn't out there. I [100:45] wasn't really sure. Uh [100:47] >> I don't I don't even know. I saw I I [100:49] didn't see the puck go in, but then it [100:51] went all the way down and I thought we [100:53] scored, but I don't know. It was ref's [100:55] decision there. [100:56] >> I've never seen anything like that. [100:57] They're playing the music. We thought we [100:59] had a tie game. We go from a tie game to [101:01] I thought you guys were going to be up [101:02] two goals. That was crazy to watch at [101:04] the end. Was that maybe part of how why [101:06] it got so physical in the last couple [101:08] minutes? [101:09] >> Yeah, for sure. I mean, the tensions uh [101:11] rose there, like we both wanted to win, [101:14] but uh it's good that we were able to [101:15] come out on top. [101:16] >> I'm assuming you guys have played [101:17] against these players for your whole [101:19] lives, right? Because you guys come from [101:20] the same neighborhoods, things like [101:21] that. Do these games tend to kind of get [101:24] a little more Is there something on the [101:25] line a little more with you guys? Yeah, [101:26] I mean we're buddies with a good amount [101:28] of guys over there, so when you get to [101:30] play against them, it it's always a [101:31] little bit more important and there's uh [101:33] a little bit more to play for. [101:34] >> Well, that was a lot of fun to watch [101:36] tonight, Grady. Congratulations to you. [101:37] Congratulations to you, Nate. It was a [101:39] fantastic game for the Blaine Bengals. [101:41] We got fans down here tonight, which is [101:43] really good. They're all yelling for [101:46] you, too, Bill. I want to tell you that [101:47] right now. I'm sure that they just they [101:49] love your performance on the playbyplay [101:51] tonight. That'll wrap it up for us [101:52] tonight on North Metro TV. We hope you [101:54] enjoyed it. Want to thank Ted in the [101:55] truck and all of our hard workers and [101:57] thanks to Bill Huff who did a great job [101:59] calling the game for us this evening. On [102:00] behalf of everybody else at North Metro [102:02] TV, I'm Tim Anderson saying keep your [102:05] head up and we'll see you next time.
