[Music] hello everyone this is tim sanders mayor of the city of blaine and we are out here today at tpc twin cities and we are thrilled to open up with the 3m open and excited for this event for the remainder of the week i hope you enjoy these mayor's minutes we are so grateful for the 3m open and honored to host it here in blaine at the tpc twin cities and you know really this is an opportunity for us to display blaine at its absolute best and we do we use this space to bring in restaurant tours and businesses and developers and brokers and banks and and other commercial lenders to really show blaine at its best and say blaine's worth investing in specifically we just made significant progress on our redevelopment area of 105th where that really is going to be a an amenity an attraction based space first of all built for our residents but then really built two to capture all the activity of the seven and a half million visitors that come to our city every year for sports and recreation we need a place for them to to spend their down time a place for them to you know have hotel space restaurants attractions amenities and that's really what the heart of that is but we really want it to feel like it's built for the residents first and that they really have pride in what that is and it's a place in the space that they really enjoy going to and so we're thrilled about the plans now we're actually working through the process now of going out and looking for a master developer for the whole project so tremendous progress and in north town as well we just selected and received the plans from our architects and engineers of what that could look like and so we'll be starting that process just behind the 105th as well because that that project will take so long 105th you know we really believe we'll we'll see significant growth and development in the next year or two whereas nortown will probably take you know five to ten years for the early early first phase and probably 30 years to really compete because it's such a large space and there are so many different entities that have different properties and ownership stakes in that and so you know we need to get that started now so that we are making progress on that and transforming that area bringing some vitality so we've made tremendous progress on all of the areas that we're really focused on developing and building out for the city so it can reach its full potential you know opportunities that we're looking at throughout the city uh there are different parcels of land that are available we're talking to folks as well about you know looking at investing in the village as well kind of off lexington and 35. you know what types of opportunities could there be at lexington in 242 and really kind of throughout the city where where's the opportunities as well to maybe uh rejuvenate an area too where where a new new business new life into an area would really inject some vitality we have the best police department in the state we we believe firmly in all of our officers in our entire department and really in in the leadership of that in chief padani july is a brutal month for them when you think again about fireworks on the fourth of july uh then the target usa cup which brings in you know 1200 teams from all around the world and all the visitors that brings to now the 3m open it's a brutal month for them but man they are just extremely professional and they do a tremendous job keeping us safe and the running point on security and safety this week at the 3m open so despite all the or with all of the multi-agencies that are out there with them you know our our team is running point and so we we feel safe and that we're in good hands because they do such a tremendous job we still try so hard to hold on to the community aspect of this city we're a big city you know we're the 10th largest in the state we have over 70 000 people but we still want to feel like a community we don't want to be this just this big city where people live and work and don't i mean we have a great community where people know their neighbors they invest their time here they believe in the city they're proud of the city and so we do we want to keep those community events going the the summer series in the park you know the different concert series uh the blaine festival those types of things to really kind of keep the community together but then we want to showcase who we are to everyone else as well and so events like the usa cup and the 3m open really allow people from outside of blaine to come in and see blaine at its best and you know we believe we're a destination worth visiting and then staying i see blaine actualizing its full potential in the next 10 years highway 65 will be done it will be a beautiful safe efficient roadway really the 105th redevelopment will be done town redevelopment will be significantly underway and a lot of the housing and really a lot of the commercial space will have been built by then and so really it's an opportunity in this next stretch for us to work so diligently and so strategically that blaine realizes its full potential and we believe that it can and that it will [Music] you
