statement here um what I do like to do would like to do is that because we have some new faces in the room let's go around and make some introductions so what I would like to do is uh so if the board doesn't know these are our new administrative in here so I would like for the board to go run quickly introduce yourselves and then I'm going to have all the new faces in the room introduce themselves to this year and we appreciate you guys coming on board and there's a lot going on and and um so we do appreciate coming to the board meeting and uh this is going to be a very long procedural meeting I'll just tell you right now and we are going to start off unfortunately as we approve the agenda in the meeting minutes we're going to kick everybody out for a little while as we have a close session and then we're going to come back in to open session for the most part of our meeting so with that thank you um and welcome you're no longer visitors your family so we welcome you here so with that of all let me bring up my not I okay so before we go into close session I just want to make sure that everybody is familiar with Iowa coach chapter 21 regarding open and closed meetings do we have any questions on chapter 21 okay we do have from our attorney and he will be online here in a minute um I do have in my hands a uh letter from our attorney dug philps that the subject of tonight's clst session is lawful and that is his formal opinion so we do have his formal opinion on that tonight in in writing does anybody have any questions about the purpose of the closed meeting tonight the reasons they go into for by session i' like to remind the board that while we in Clos session that all discussions must comply with the requirements of chapter 21 that we may only discuss the matters business there's two items the first one is approval of participation and the gester break fix insurance program okay um So Lisa and I had a conversation um with um one of our W with Amy actually and there is currently from MC um so EMC is the has the major umbrella that Jester Works under or Jester Jester EMC and north side are all like related they're like cousins um there's a case right now with the Cedar Rapids School District um versus the department of Ed about a really similar product um so we are advising the because the the way that Cedar Rapids has done it is actually maybe slightly more advantageous to a local board um Our advice at this point would be to maybe hold off and see what that case turns out to be because we may actually get a little bit better deal for us out of that a little bit better product that we can work with um not that this is a bad product I think this is a good one but uh just we think we can get a little bit better deal out of it potentially so I think we we would approve that you not approve this at this point approve we would recommend that you not approve it sorry um and then we can bring it back once we know the details of that case and and where that is I I had also asked for yes a summary of repairs yes have we got that I apologize we had our we had a couple staff out because of loss of some family during the couple weeks that we've been out um we weren't able to get that together for you maybe by the next time um well and and again I would advis that we not approve this at this take um I I would even suggest turning it down I would suggest not passing it at all at this point um so you're saying we say no then we just take it off and then we'll bring it back when we have that information that's more uh so that we know what we can do um so yeah sorry for that we didn't just talk about that and the and we just had a situation where we couldn't have our people problem problem I move that we not accept the participation the Yer break Insurance perfect way to handle it thank you we have motion a second to not approve this is a little different we have motion a second to not approve the participation in the program does everybody understand that motion because it's different than what we normally do okay having said that all in favor of not approving we got have a second yeah it's okay I got it um I'm just driving making sure I got the double negative going so all those of favor of basically turning down this product at this time signify with say I thank you Tom all oppos okay so that basically comes off our plate that is a weird way to do that one we I don't think I've ever done no no that I just don't my mind was wrapped around the uh a motion to disapprove something so that new information was useful that we thought that's okay no that's good that's good that's that's all good so um Item B approval of the C just close launch so we discussed this one before and as we went around I'm not sure if all seven of us were here or not we had two that night yeah I thought so but we had let thank you it was two I thought it was one but it was two and we had for the five people room we had five different solutions so so I think what is important for this board to do tonight is to make a decision we've had time to think about it um and I would say that staff has asked for board action we owe it to the staff especially since we are halfway through the summer there's handbooks that need to be done and we need to incorporate this in there so I think we'll staff a decision tonight so with that I'll open it up for discussion I didn't discuss last time so 100% close that's the only responsible option there is um anytime those doors come open we set ourselves up for something the only responsible way to do this is 100% Clos launch um I did watch the meeting afterwards and I guess my question would be what is good standing make a good standing change every single day and if that's the case then we're setting our Administration up for failure we're not setting them up for Success right off the bat I think that's our job protect students and set people up for success and the only way to do that is have close so to stay on this topic does anybody have any questions or want to discuss Mike's views on it or have any questions for M why he feels that way so you're basing that solely on a safety 100% 100% if we want to give students in good standing some other thing that's fine but not at the expense of BSA to me a b if to me it makes no sense to change anything if we're going to give it the option to leave and do open and closing people coming now it makes absolutely no sense to me okay we have the room now we have the product there's no reason not to the product food program oh the food program yeah yeah and a big lunch y yeah okay Derek what's your thoughts I'm coming around the room by the way had a couple weeks obviously to think about it and you know I didn't school year I grew up in a closed lunch system didn't know anything different obviously looked at you several other districts around us um you know I think it's it's it's going to hurt it's going to irritate a lot um but that's what we're here for and at this point I would also be in favor of fully closed lunch for Sen High SCH Tom you got any thoughts I like the idea of the closed lunch because of the just to keep more kids in school so we don't have the loss of hours of Education okay all right so and if anybody wants to have a counter proposal like you can do that so Mr Thomas I would like to know what Mr Taylor thinks and what are new administrative staff things okay because they will bear the brunt of this good um I believe that we'll make whatever the board decides for um we um you know this is a charged issue with people and I think U that's going to Pro that's going to give a challenge to a new administrator and building um that immediately relationships are based on decisions like this and if before we've had a day of school uh we harm that relationship I'm concerned about that personally as a father of a high school student I would prefer to see Clos lunch um as a father as an administrator I've worked in different settings where we can we we do what we're what we get from board policy and we can make make just about anything work I really do truly believe 100% the pink pass issue has to be dealt with though no matter what we choose to do whether it's open for some close for others we have to have the ability to enforce during lunch period you're not just pink passing and saying well my kid gets to go regardless of what the rules say I think that's the thing that we really need coming out of this the backing on because that's been kind of a challenge so last meeting we brought up pest do you feel like you have what yeah yeah yeah I felt pretty good about getting that that back from the board at that meeting I just want to make sure that still stands yeah I just want to make like that's the big thing that we really need to be able to enforce anything if a rule doesn't have to be a rule for everybody then people look for those ways to snake through so um this gives us a hard and fast rule that we can we can stay safe within our parameters beyond that I think uh we can make anything work and I completely I believe again as a father and and as an administrator I think the safest best move is a closed lunch um but uh I I also understand that there's a lot of needs and a lot of different viewpoints on the board and um I I don't want to you know put anybody in a spot where they feel like they have to go against my feeling on this one because I I I can make work whatever we need and we'll work with our team to make work whatever we need so I just want to make sure I I think I heard something I want to make sure are you saying that you would prefer not to put our new principal on the spot yes with that and so that she can walk in that first day with not having influence that decision is what I heard you say is that fair enough that way you are kind of that was why I brought it to the board prior to her starting right CU she hasn't actually witnessed our lunch lunch setting so she doesn't have that experience to know what we've got going on okay that's what I thought I heard you say so so what do you think I think I think what Mr Taylor say is he would prer that we make that decision and then she enforces with what that okay but even if it's our decision and even if it's our policy we are going to ask them to enforce it I want to know if they think they can I know he says didn't talk we didn't talk about that I'm sorry I I didn't mean to cut anybody off we have talked about that we've actually talked about all the options that were discussed and we think whatever policy we get we can enforce pretty well um and I'm not trying to speak for you if if if I say anything out of place just smack me or something I'm happy to do that um you know obviously it's a little bit easier to enforce if it's a if it's a done deal and the doors are shut and that's just the way it is um we believe that we can get to know our students well enough and have the staff that we have doing lunch duties moving forward to know our students well enough to know who can and can't go if we make it by grade I think that's easier uh the question about good good standing and that was a term that I had used because that was something that my school had done when I was a kid that's a little tougher the good standing part might be a little bit tougher to to enforce because you can kind of get a pretty good idea of who's in what grade but if it's a matter of does that kid have the absentee rate that we've set does that kid have the grades because I don't know what they got in algebra last semester that one gets a little tougher for us would you agree kind of in our conversation yeah I I think that it does pose its own there's going to be enforcement issues either way right I mean I really think what it comes down to is being really clear with the expectations with staff students and and family and community members and and then holding um people accountable for those expectations so I'm not afraid of raising the bar and holding people accountable to that um it is it's it's a little bit of a tough position yeah I would so I didn't mean tocate and I would I would guess that the entire Community is not watching this right so well they can I mean they there's a pretty wide reach I watch this so yeah they're going to know fast we do pretty well well they're going to know but that that's they're going to know that the decision was made sure yeah that's okay I guess I guess one way all this time that we talked about it I haven't had one person who reach talk to me said there against us no I haven't I mean so I I think if we look at it you guys may have or say no if if we haven't had anyone reach out and say they're against this and our main job is to protect students and to set our people up for success to me the only possible answer on this is closing L 2% with no exceptions that so help me to understand how does the pink pass play into this or does it at all so question what people have done is they call in and they say I'm pink passing my kid for every day for this period or for long lunch for for the lunch period so they don't have to remain um there have been times where they've been told you can't pink P every day and the response is well I am um and that's what we're going to do and we really don't have we didn't have any policy or anything that really backed us up on that um and and we believe that we're well within rights as the um what do you call that uh the temporary Guardian whatever that legal term is um that if it's unsafe uh for a student to leave on their own during that time we we do believe that that's perfectly Fair uh to expect that a parent pick up during that time if they want to pick the child up that's not to say that you can't have a doctor's appointment um you know those kind of things do happen and you'll get a doctor's note but it's not just every day I want to go home and eat lunch every day I want to run out to the store and pick up a lunch um and I think that's what that's what bringing us to the board was attempting the battle um not about make not about being the fun police I'm not a very fun guy but I'm not the fun police I promise I think sorry yeah I've had a month to think of that I want to get Carol and too go yeah sorry I don't want to no you're fine I think my way of looking at this also is I've been in the school subing during those time periods your participation in the hour before lunch during lunch and after lunch is non-existent I mean you will have kids a lot of kids leave the hour before be gone for their lunch and be gone the hour after that's huge problem and now oh sorry what are they doing that's a good question I can tell you I can tell you what some of them are well maybe I don't know and that's a problem because then they come back into school yeah they're not learning right and we already approved to have someone in charge of absenteeism so what would be the point of having someone in charge of absenteeism if we're going to allow them to be gone that that is just doesn't make sense as a district so um is there going to be some push back I think there will be push back for about a month and a half from a small amount of kids that's but ultimately we got to have the kids in school and be safe and that's it is what it is to me I mean it's needed to be closed for years but it never came before the board so Carol what are your thoughts then we'll get to town I don't want um if I and I I just beat myself up after the last meeting for not making a decision okay but if I truly truly believe that safety is the most important thing we can do for our kids then I have to agree that a closed lunch would be the way to go now that's not saying that I don't have concerns about you know like the quick shop and you know those businesses that kind of really need you know those numbers um for the kids you know gosh they've looked forward to this right of passage I have the feelings for those people but if I if I say I believe in safety then that's the only way to have keep them there okay I've had uh a couple kids reach out to me and say that they were pretty upset about it but I haven't had an ults but uh there are the concerns like she brought up but I'm glad you brought up because I want was say but in the day that in the age that we're in with the things that have happened just over there it makes sense to me and I was surprised I said that last time that it was open anyways so I think and and I will say since I put everybody else on record I'll go on record myself because it's not fair to ask all of you to make comments and not me say anything so um I I too grew up in a place that was close campus I didn't know anything different and until we moved here and I found out that you could go to lunch I was shocked that that could happen I can tell you that part of the reason that my kids wanted open lunch was because the quality of the lunchroom yeah which was atrocious most of my kids went and ate in the band room because it was so gross and I know that we had to kind of clamp down on the band room and all that kind of stuff but it was it was not a in those that was not a security thing it was just a lousy facilities we have put a ton of money into facilities and that new I sometimes so called commoners are called the Grand foyer we're trying to provide the best possible lunch environment we spend in a lot of money on furniture we're spending a lot of money on op to make the best quality experience we have for that and so that that's part of it but I do have to agree from a a top level issue that to me it is ultimately come down with safety it would be a lot harder for me to say close campus and in a crappy lunchroom this is a lot easier because we have a nice nice facility but it's hard enough to do security the way it is and I think it's really hard just to let people come and go at will and I and I think I go to the cloes lunch you know on the side of safety so that's where I am in in this world of of school safety I think that's the right thing that we have to do so that's where I can down on the issue and you know there's any kids listening or watching tonight I I'm so sorry that you have to grow up in a world where we have to you know go to extremes to protect you but you know if if something happened we just can't have that okay so is there any other discussion we need to do otherwise we're going to need a motion second go ahead I I don't have any problem with this okay as long as we're all we will be United on this but I think we need to visit this pink pass issue we we need a policy for that also yeah so I would like to see a follow up with that so what you're saying is not just giv the verbal support from last meeting to Mark you you're saying we need like a written board policy I think so okay that that would help to okay thank put somee to that's that's a good ad I appreciate that okay I think we have a decision but we need to formalize it so can that be done before school starts I how we do it with handbooks CU we're going to do handbooks on August meeting be nice that with that we were trying to figure out the right way to to word some of those things already to maybe bring them to the board what codify Poli if we put it right in there then that would be that would be really nice actually different topic that stuff yeah so the next meeting yesz yes okay so this is going to have a little presentation there's a little something on your uh board back heing going to give Lisa a chance to talk to us all and it's a resolu solution to consider continuous continued participation in the distortional support program I apologize I was going to put it on the screen and my is not available um I'll just go through the slides here the instructional Support Program which is uh we usually call it the ISL instructional support lby is a program established by a school district to provide additional funding and spending Authority in the general fund revenues can be used for almost nearly any purpose allowed in the district's general fund right now in Iowa approximately 99% of all public schools have an ISL in in place um how is the instructional support Levy established and funded this program can be established by board resolution up to 5 years or by the voters up to 10 years the program can be funded by all property tax or a combination of property tax and income C tax and it may not exceed 10% of the district's regular District CS currently um well C's last um instruction support Levy was established by the board in July 2019 for 5 years it will expire in 2026 and the FY 24 Levy rate was approximately 38 with approximately $430,000 in funding if you establish this it will just be a continuation of the current Levy not an increase the next page shows you uh a slide from our budget presentation back in April or March whenever it was just to show you that um line number two the instructional support that's the 38 so it's already included in your tax rate so um if you if you don't prove this then it goes away you approve it it stays um and a structural support ly timeline so tonight I'm hoping that the board passes this resolution for continued participation and that resolution sets the cover heing and then August 12th we'll have the public hearing and board the second resolution um from August 13th till September 9th the the district has to wait the required 28 day waiting period and then um after that on September 10th we'll send the final documents to certify Department management and that is all that you have to do does anybody have any questions so there's no vote not well the board will right right it's not a public vote okay yeah if we were going to do it for 10 years we would all right so in our FY 25 budget we're looking at dropping it by 5 cents well it right yeah so even if we vote on this the the Lev going down for FY 25 right yes right y so fi25 is the last year we can do this based on current Passage so for us to do this to continue on past next year we have toax this now and that number fluxuates a little bit with budgeting right every year so it's not always 138 but next year it's a little bit less what causes of the FL way um all things with the budget so enrollment income C tax rate changed that last year a variety of things okay is that something we can arbitrarily no okay it gets back into the how do you when you make your your general correct me if I'm wrong it's when you set your budget and we have spending Authority yes from the state we have that's our spending Authority we have our general fund we have our $5.40 uniform Levy that state law says we get get our SSA from the state and then based on expending Authority this is how we bridge that Gap how's that yeah you're pretty good that's 5 years ago in ISB conventions motion to approve resolution second we have a motion in a second to approve the resolution to continue the participation in the was from Hill sanary and it was we only had one bed so the one we get year so our approve we have motion to second to approve the garbage pickup for 2024 2024 to 2025 roll call please I'm just kidding large boilers at the high school um this is just this cost actually went down by $500 um just condensing it down to what they will actually do so we lost a lot of equipment that will need the chemical so they will provide glycol for the new addition which very minimal but then the tech boilers we still have those so that they will provide chemical for so it's cut our cost in third motion to approve second we have a motion second to approve the update G Callahan uh service agreement all in favor signify by saying I I all opposed that passes okay the next one are the induction coach contract we're just going to keep on the contract bill here so let me pull that one up we approve every year um CH no changes I think approve second have I don't see that one in there I have motion a second to approve the induction coach uh contract agreement for 20242 all in favor by say I all opposed that passes okay next one is the activity funds transfer now this is always fun County um so every every year we do an activity f transfer at the end of the year for negative accounts there are some activity athletic accounts that don't generate enough Revenue to pay their bills so um we cover it with the money that we receive from either concessions or just activity tickets um sometimes we'll go like from vocal music to speech if they're like related so it's just to cover any negative accounts do you know how much this com from general fund versus oh it just comes from one activity fund to another activ okay so this is all this activity fund transfer okay so no General funds are being motion to approve activity fund transfers second we have motion a second to approve the activity funds transfer all in favor signify by say I I all opposed great and our new ad says great I have a zero based budget I can start fresh right okay uh approve the 2024 2025 General cafeteria and activity fees um we have made no change recommended changes to previous year cafeteria uh when we do lunch pricing and breakfast pricing uh adult prices have to come from the state and those didn't change they actually went down but we kept it yeah kept it at what it was um and there was no recomend after um looking at our financials to raise the student rates so we left those the same for this year um and activity fees I did um a quick little survey of surrounding areas and it's pretty much on car so I didn't want to do that this year but that's not to say that we're not going to look at that as we move through the year so the activ is PR stay same also recomending changes just to approve motion to approve second we have motion a second to approve the activity fund or the uh 2024 25 school year General cafeteria and activities fund all in favor signify say I I all opposed thank you technology purchase camon wants to spend some money all it is is the starting last year we've been doing a whole Bolt purchase of new devices for the sixth grade class with the expectation they'll be using those until other seniors so this is just getting that influx of new devices for the six grade okay and then the other one price on it that is our core switch for the entire District which is house at high school um so this is where you're getting into that some other language for you maybe yeah the the 20 $8,000 yeah and if you look at the top of that what we actually pay is only $ 8,465 70 that's eate discounted so that 28,000 is kind of shocking but it's not that much we really paying that 8,000 okay but that's the core switch we've had the same one since I started seven years ago it's about time for it to go what's USAC uh that's the eBay program usack um we get government money we just apply based on our pre- roduced lunch program stuff okay so we get a 70% discount for basically Hardware that we don't really interact with it's all networking stuff it's very limited on what we can put in there but this is something we really need to upgrade I mean okay it'll go out eventually better to and I think ours is five and four and so I don't know sorry about that I just no Brian scrolled down just as I was you were voting on it okay yeah I think I would what I would say is talk to Mark okay and uh we're going to direct you to handle it that way so we'll bring it back bring it back in a yeah yeah so that's okay that's uh I'd rather have you say something we'll get you on the right track this right now is Derek and Mark and I met with Jason Frasier all play he laid out here are some options for us and basically what we have right now is here are some options that we could do some things down there and really we know nothing else other than they think they could make the space work but we don't know about funding we don't know about cost we don't know about estimates we don't know about timeline we don't know about anything all we know is that the city has said if you want to come out by AP All Play here's a place for you and that's really all we know so um the biggest question was just a feel from the board on what direction to try to go yeah and that may be I think I won't Mark for that conversation so but I guess if we want to have a little discussion on that is do we want to pursue something with IND Hills or do we want to have Mark continue to put some energy towards our own ball field I think we have to think long term meaning meaning you know okay then what scenario will come up next yeah just keep putting money into something that really isn't ours I think we need to think about the future of C baseball and so longterm Maybe in our own facilities that one okay yes the the other thing is is many times people get wound up and let's get this built it's going to cost this much but it's another field we have to maintain so we have to not only consider what it's going to cost to do that but then we also have we have to be aware of our pal going every year cost yeah and part of that with Jason is that we could probably work some out with the city yes be a cost but it'd be kind of a um I don't want to leave anybody the impression that Jason made any promises other than there would be some joint maintenance opportunities how's that is that fair oh totally I guess I don't want to put words in Jason's mouth so no but we did we did kind of talk about it's like yeah we can work that out it was kind of like yeah but even even short term here yeah even if we decided tonight that we wanted a baseball field and we knew what we going put it it's probably not going to be ready for next year no it's be a couple years so we're probably and I think you're right we know that so I'll catch up here a second I'm trying to I I'd like to look the option to have field okay um but knowing that's going to take a while um in that looking into it I think it makes sense to look at tur as opposed to all natur that'll be a lot more expensive so that may be a longer time frame for funding we do I me I I think kind like we invested in the future of the football field and soccer and stuff like that if we're going to do it we do it right and I did talk to Melle today about that sorry about that um I have to step out for there um and we can do if we would if we do our own fall field we can do where we do grass initially but she has all the she can structure for us the uh all the stuff we need to be able to make a transition to Turf pretty easily down the road so I kind of talked to her today about if we do a field of our own how how could we phase that so that we can get through on cash flow wise so that's like 5,000 more than gr so it may not be something we could afford right away but down the road it' be an add-on that we could do yeah and we just kind of got into high levels on this about we met with no it's okay we I just told we met with J you Derrick and I we met with Jason and it's just like there's an offer of laying out there if we want to think about it yeah and that's about as deep as we got with Jason and in terms of the flip side because I wanted to make sure my emails I've been sharing that I would share all sides of it we um so Matt and I have had some pretty productive conversations with Indian Hills too um I think the total project cost has come down quite a bit uh they worked with a different company um than the initial bid he gotten some advice from another Community College president um but there's another uh company that kind of a little more cost effective for college and schools um so they're looking uh where our our our percent would cost us uh 25,000 per year instead of the I think it was 32 initially if I remember right so it comes down a little bit from there we did talk about what signage would look like um so there's a sign that says home of the of the Indian Hills baseball team it would also say home of the Big Reds there and there's some uh video signage um that they would put up just kind of sharing all the different pieces there and um think we were going to do something ourselves we're looking at probably 3 years realistically to pull this off yeah that's very reasonable and it won't be like the the football field if we get this the substructure in will'll be good yeah yeah but that's the part that she talked about was football field was a huge expense just for the substructure it was $100,000 add-on surprise mhm yeah just because the soil I mean just not just the hundreds of, they knew about there was a $100,000 addon put yeah for compaction yeah yeah in terms of with the city if if we would end up the all play location you know we talked about maybe having some shared facilities there there was talk that maybe in their long range Parks plan they have a plan for a a concession stand closer to all the fields up there that we could be a part of that for our use for our games um maybe instead of doing sessions under our Press Box we could do restrooms there and have that be a shared facility to be um worked on by both groups so I think both options that we've seen are kind of interested in supporting us there is a a third option that uh I need to go to a meeting to find out if it's an option or not but that's with the County Conservation um the field uh what would that be would that be South South that' be just south of of Paul Johnson Field uh it had been laser leveled for soccer at one point Point um and um so we just have to see if that kind of fits into their plan because theyve just taken ownership of that and they've got some plan for some new cabins there and everything so trying to see if if that would be a possibility too um but that one seems a little less likely I'd say than you know all the allplay spot is something that the city has said yeah I mean we'd have to pass it officially they feel pretty good about and I think what is very important to say is from from Jason is just this is the opening let's talk do we want to talk more about that's all it was so there's no guarantees no guarantees they don't have any plans they're still working on their V vision for that facility it's still being in the process of being transferred to them they have to deal with girl Youth Softball and there's a lot of things that is just going to take time lot mov pieces I did have a question I knew that IND Hills thought it was going to you know price might come down yeah yeah but it was just for 10 years pay for the improvements so what happens after that yeah and that's a question that we're still kind of working out I IID asked that if we end up going their direction or thinking we were going to go their direction that we have like sign not a handshake not a wink n but like what would it look like for years 10 through 20 maybe for a cost 10 years of 25,000 it's 250,000 a whole lot less than put our own you have more improvements than be done by that you probably would be but even at that it's still less money that we would spend in our own field and in 10 years we would want to improve our own field so right it's kind of a wash there yeah uh sharing with the college is not out of a question right I don't think even even if it sounds like we're throwing money away there but we didn't do this I have heard from concerned parents that kids coming up B program and where you know they just kind of want to know yeah that they have a future well and I think that that's true for kind of whole parties in this our conversations Matt and I have had really good conversations about this that have been pretty productive and um you know just trying to to speak to how we can make it a good experience for everybody if we're going to have a capital investment you know we want to have a home with it and and some guarantees that our home won't be pulled out at any point because really when you talk about sor when you talk about you know highend CEO level leadership and these type of organizations by the time we get through that 10 years the law of averages says you could have two different people discussing what to do on That B end so just having something on paper where we can now I'm sure it's had hope not um you know I hope that we're still talking about it and we've got a little bit more gray and and we're good to go uh but uh you know you just never know so we just figure something on paper is better than the only way and this is me personally but the only way I at this point I would consider anything longterm with with hills would be any student playing in that big red uniform is playing on paty field it's an absolute embarrassment for our middle school students and our FR n ball playing on that thing you call a practice field they can't even slide it home no you can't slide at home the outfields got divots I mean it's it's embarrassing to listen to other fans come in and talk about it go up and say it's not maintained it's just a lot that's not last Chef freshman were high school so in my mind they should have had that opportunity to play on the field and I get $250,000 is a lot less than $3 million but the bottom line is that's general fund money at this point I don't know about you but I like pictures and AIDS so I I'd rather push forward with um pardon the I want to take my ball and go home and I did I did talk to relle when you talk about kind of the the cost so what I suggested to her is that we did go the route of building our own and and again that's assuming that we would accept the bid that frk would put on being an architect for that project I mean we that board would decide that but for her Proposal with that I suggested rather than like we did with value engineering where it was here's the project what do we want to take off but rather here's the base what do we want to add on I think that that kind of gives us some goals we need to look at budgets we need to look at get with Matt gie and look at our our longterm financial plan what can we afford how much do we have CU we don't not we don't have any bonding capacity so this would have to come out of things like save and P and things like that so what is the cash flow projections that we could do some things do we need to save for a few years there's a lot of things in I think what really Mark and I talked about for the purpose of this meeting is do we want as a board want Mark to continue to look at things because we also probably need to have some Savings in there for Big Ticket unexpected expenses too and I think good Hill yeah it's and I have to ask myself how many baseball fields do we need set you know it's one thing you say well we got high school they got one to college but how many do you need well you need little Le fields and you need yeah Middle School fields and you need High School fields and you need College Fields maity field is a college field the diens are much bigger than your standard High School field but those middle school kids playing on their practice field that is not safe well they're they're the home the all the home area is all AstroTurf and they know they're not supposed to slide but you can't tell me some kid is going to the UN official rule is they you come off a third you hit the you hit the turf and you're safe and you your opposing fans that have never been there before like wait what it's not I'm just tell you right now moment and your I mean I just see an injury happen guess I I'd like to see sorry Mark work on both options yes keep going on both I'll be the first one to admit I don't know they so you can discount most of the things I say nine players nine innings yeah part after that I don't know help with any of that I think what we're kind of to the point of now what I I talked to Kevin last time we're at the point where like we may have to spend a little money on a couple at least on the option of whether we would build um because the next step from talking to Michelle is probably surveying that land out there to make sure that everything can fit that needs to be that needs to fit in there I don't know what a what it cost to survey I can't imagine it's a super astronomical cost maybe um so I I think it's probably within my threshold I would imagine but um that's probably a step that we would take so I I was I just wanted to make sure there wasn't an a side that was maybe Dead with the board and then spend money on that um I think all of okay we got to figure out what what's going to take to get the utilities in there yeah the good news is they just upgraded Electric out to transform this last year yeah I'm taking water and Su that's the well that's Jason was saying that would probably be part of the city's contribution so yeah so so I think the step is look let's look at some budgets that's look at how much we can afford that's kind very important it's probably the next steps and I think we are planning this week to try to reach out the mat and check cash flow and see just what that looks like it's really a cash flow issue maybe not long long term having the money but just getting it in the right times and the phases to to need where we'll need it okay all right so while you're we skipped over a few things because we thought you might want to participate sorry about that no you're fine you're fine we get it and so we're going to go back to item C approve the 2025 is legislative priorities I thought you might want to have a voice of that definitely have feelings um yeah so we're supposed to recommend three right three okay or three three out of the seven so what ISB has they have a a legislative advocacy department or group or at least a person and so they they do put all of these but it's it's really what they want from schools is to say what do you really want to focus on so I'll I don't know how many of the 33 some districts actually provide something back but and I don't know how they go through the process but they still want participation so um this is just kind of Mark you got some recommendations I have some thoughts on them too um but what would our priorities be for the ISP to advocate for well I mean they picked some good ones here to to is between um I think my concern would be where do you think that your advocacy is probably going to be well spent um I think while they I I agree with some of their feelings on school choice I don't think that you're going to get a lot of traction right now on on advocating for anything to change in that realm um so I would probably avoid that one um as as a good one to uh to miss on here um we've done a lot of work with infrastructure so um that's been important to us um and and I haven't heard of the details of something that's coming our direction to cause an issue on that anytime soon um however if that ends up being false will really want to Advocate on that um I I can get behind any of the rest these early early childhood would be a really big one safety would be really big I'll tell you one of my thoughts this is a weird observation that I have I had a daughter graduated from un and I this past spring and I went to the graduation and that ceremony was the School of Business what she was in and School of Education you and I being Formerly Known in the 50s as Iowa State's Teachers College and teacher you there were more there are probably as many graduates from the School of Business as there was teachers the number of teachers graduating from the largest teacher College in the state of Iowa was shockingly low and that's a concern for the pipeline of teachers I would expected that to be two or three times the number I don't know why I just thought there should be more yeah that is a big deal we've been pretty lucky we no been pretty blessed uh to fill our positions well here so that's not a quality as as more of a quantity availability I think that's really I think that would make all of their jobs easier down the road if there were more teachers to recruit from so I know it says teacher quality but quality has to start with at least some graduates I'm going to be honest on this one I don't really have an opinion on any of because the way I've seen it over the last five years being on the board none of it matters because what happens at the capital happens at the capital and everything that we've talked about and voted on before doesn't matter to them anyway so no that's what I said 3 years ago Mar made me come up with some I I mean honestly the stuff we T every every year I've been on this board and everything we come up with counc does they do whatever they want anyway so we're paying someone to Advocate and it doesn't work hey thank yeah so whatever three people come up with years looking for an item that maybe attraction that early childhood had subraction last session it's a Workforce issue um good early childhood and access to that so I think that kind of aligns with some of the philosophies that have kind of guided things so that could be a good one to advocate for to try to get some ground we obviously know educationally the importance of early childhood um in in helping our kids to be more prepared um but there is also that factor of having a place for kids to be that's good for them and develops them uh rather than you know right now I think a big thing is iPads and TVs uh so getting them away from that getting them with people who aren't going to help them continue to grow as a young person so I would think if you're really looking for something to gain traction with early childhood a good one um you got a little hope there one I could use it when it comes to this cuz it's never it's never yeah he's just down on fair enough I think safety would probably be one that we should and that will get trash there there's two there's two yeah yeah I go with the literacy high quality teacher Workforce number seven and of course safety yeah the high quality teacher Workforce I just I was reading that I did like the opportunity of alternative licensure programs I think there's a lot of great people currently in the world that don't necessarily have a bachelor's degree that would be fully capable to teach certain subjects so will that get traic probably not get positive for education in the state of anybody want to channel Reagan say we have for the elimination of the Department of Education Texas already most of it teachers wow Arizona does that too right and the students are suffering reading way down way down not so you want to do teacher quality in teacher quality croud of one thing that got done last year though and that's the emphasis on the letters training for early for elementary teachers and the the state providing that letters training I think that's going to pay huge dividends uh for the reading ability of young students in our state you know and so I think we have Early Childhood safety and teacher quality and Licensing issues and and I will tell you you know I and I and what you said I agree on because one of the biggest disappointments on the last legislature session and I I'm I'm a lifelong conservative and I'm really disappointed at what happened or last year the year before two years ago when the legislator voted to give $931 million over 4 years in vouchers to private schools with zero Financial accountability we have so much Financial accountability for the funds that we have we have so many rules and so many laws per job is one of the most technically difficult jobs in The District in order to maintain Us in the financial standards of the State uh Department of Education Department of Revenue Department of management they have that level of bureaucratic oversight and then to turn around because of a political agenda give $931 million to a a subset of schools with zero Financial accountability of that money to the taxpayers goes against everything that we should expect as taxpayers for the use of our money you know if they want to do vouchers have accountability but there's no accountability so I agree with Mike that the legisl is going to do what they want right now and and it is disappointing but I think that they're going to give that kind of money out in vouchers there should be some accountability to spend level the plane field the same Ro we got before the accountability for what the students are progressing will be the studies that come out to show that it's the Hales and the have those that are already attending private school now get their private schools substantially pay for it's not the underprivileged or the regular student that's going to get to go if you look at Iowa every private school rais their as yeah absolutely it's a it's a it's a they're playing by a different set of rules and that's disappointed when when the have kns figure out that all it did was benefit the Hales that they'll turn around three or four four four you said Early Childhood safety quality Li Li okay so motion to approve those priorities which are child it's a pretty short Series so this one is um nice and easy to get there I got to scroll to the right page here but this is pertaining to um the administrative team so we were a little bit out of date again um as as I kind of do as we go through these you can ignore the table contents so um that'll be updated after we see if we like and approve everything uh just compared it to the Exemplar kind of pulled the words out that that needed to be changed and everything there were a handful of things that needed some change in here a little bit of um around like superintendent contracts the way that it used to be versus the way it is now in state law um adding all those legal references that that were were getting put in um it kind of rewarded a few of them bringing in uh separating the admin team out differently I'm trying to think if there's any little highlights was there any substantive changes there's nothing terribly there was a lot of shells to Wills I like that that yeah this one's pretty not exciting no and well it's you know wait a minute come on well okay here's something substantive got your administrates are exciting our team is excited which do in my reports okay um 3 3.1 does have some changes that apply specifically to our district um so it kind of gives a list of potential administrative positions so I've updated to include you know we've had beans of students at times so putting that on the list of potential position Brad's position um changing the director of curriculum and staff development to director of curriculum kind of getting the right uh verbiage that we've been using on different positions here I did leave in one that we haven't used but that some districts have been kind of using throughout the state not that I'm looking to use it right now or anything but that's the school administrative manager that's just something some schools have done um as a tool to kind of help support admin teams um so it's it's basically Bally you you generally pay like a secretarial level for this person to kind of manage um making sure Associates are assigned the right people that day and checking the attendance of of staff on Frontline and everything so um not something that I left in there because like oh I want to add that right now or anything just because it makes sense to leave it in there in case it's a tool that benefits us someday kind of gives us flexibility that's probably the most substantive item in here I had a question about 306 okay where talks about like in your absence if you have a Heche and who would your successor be do we have that yeah let me see how weed that here so generally what I've done is I've left well this year told Julie um you're you're in charge um and we've got a pretty good deal worked out where she knows kind of average day-to-day things go ahead and take care of it but if it's something that's going to raise to a little bit higher level call myself cell and and we'll work through it cuz I I just don't miss a whole ton of when I do I'm usually like just at ad doctor's appointment or something so you know happen right know say for hospitalized time and you weren't able to my advice would be to at that point to have Julie be the person designated and I think I'm trying to remember how I worded this in here um believe so it's temporary uh the superintendent um uh puts that person in place as the way I think we have and then if it's a long-term absence so like if I would say that you know I would be in a hospital for for a month or two um the board would want to take action to put in a permanent uh or at least a longterm um because of a license action superintendent yeah and the is uh by the um soon uh Julie's licenser will officially say to can officially do those things something would happen with that she's just waiting on the official side yeah she's she's I shouldn't tell her story but I'm excited for her I think you know she deserves to have that on her license for well that's that sounds wrong that sounds bad no it's a thing that you should positively have on your license we took a positive so okay you know Julie's a local girl and I remember Julie was that yeah she has proven herself over she's been awesome to work with in this Ro honestly awesome yeah um worth your weight and gold uh for sure and I think um our admin team she's really taken on a good leadership role in there and um she's taken on a lot of the like working with our district coaches and and all those folks and uh couldn't ask for a better uh right-hand person in doing this work she's been really awesome to have motion to approve first reading 300 series second we have a motion of second to proove the first reading all in favor say by saying I I all opposed thank okay yeah didn't come that fast did you no that was fast yeah but it's a short Series so that's good and I will say I am glad to see the administrators evaluations are going to go for three year to one year and that was like that's actually state law oh it is yeah so that's why we do why I do that like it um but yeah okay and uh superintendent uh next item is approval of superintendent contract so I'm going to leave Mr Taylor off the hook of discussing this one thanks and I will leave that discussion you all have a contract in front of you and I will say that this contract has been run through Danielle Danielle heill at aluni and so it has been uh updated we do have a a legal opinion on it and basically the contract is to uh uh extend Mr Taylor's contract through June 30th of 2027 so a threeyear contract and the all the terms are this is pretty much the boiler plate that's been in there so motion to approve second we have Motion in a second to approve Mr contract Mr Taylor's contract for 3 years all in favor signify by say n i all opposed you are stuck with us thank you I really do appreciate it Happy to serve here thank you and I will just I know we're going to do your evaluation later but I I will just say this um in in the first two years I think um public I will say I think you have exceeded expectations thank you and you have done a marvelous amount of work here and you have accomplished you you faced more challenges than I think a firsttime superintendent would and you have um handled them all with um with extraordinary skill thank you okay than okay approve personal business procedures as in the packet sor second approve personal business procedures the P all in favor signify by saying I I all opposed and I'll say Mr new ad you did a great job in getting some coaches online early so that's off to a good start so we appreciate all of that Financial reports yeah I actually had I don't get a lot of community comments but I had somebody says wow that was a lot of coaching positions and uh uh I heard a lot of them already being filled so that's a positive impact out there so I like it when I hear positive things okay uh Financial reports anything special we no just the the way the month fell we only had three days a lot of bills come in after the qu so we got a lot on the table you have someone new in that position and she worked really hard at getting everything in so yeah some of the bill doubled up from the two months to two contract years so yeah that's what it looked like there are some things in there Mo to approve second motion second to approve the financial reports and pay the bills favor saying I hi thank you superintendent report okay so I'll do the business and then I'll do the mushy gushy because I'm kind of a mushy gushy dude so I want to happy things like thate gooey whichever word fit best so business-wise let me start with um our insurance renewal um that happened for this year um the there were some changes with the MC's renewals uh where wind and hail events were separated out from your deductible uh from and Lisa if I say the wrong way on this please feel fre to correct me but um they were separated out and it had a separate deductible from all other type of events um that deductible for wind and hail events was 10% of the value of the building um is what it became so um we worked with Amy who set us up with um there's a buy down U that can be done a deductible buy down uh to do the deductible buy down to $10,000 for our deductible um and on July 2nd we had a major wind event that caused some significant damage to the roof of the band room at Lake View um we have an adjuster coming Thursday Thursday to check that out um I will tell you it is disgusting looking you can see the outside from the inside and you can see the inside from the outside on the roof line so there's bricks that have been dislodged that roof has been dislodged structur it almost looks like it was lifted up I mean I can't speak to that I I don't I'm not an engineer I just play one on TV but uh it doesn't look good um Tuesday yeah just Tuesday so um feeling really good about that decision um to to be that buy down because a 20 what would have been 230 or $240,000 deductible would have been a real challenge tell we just made that buy down back yeah yeah so that that worked out really well for us um and thanks to I mean honestly Amy's worked really hard to make sure that we've got good coverage and I'm really appreciative with that um other piece of business um that's kind of uh useful for you to know we did run into some additional spe of high school working through um kind of getting that taken care of so it doesn't cause major disruptions to our demo as much as possible uh I would say I would think we're safe to say there will be some disruption uh we just don't know how much U definitely a solvable thing but just you know a little pickup along the way um and we got awarded a $40,000 grant for our summer programming so we're going to I'm going to actually work with uh Brian and Terry to see if we can get a little bit in this summer and and then um a pretty robust Elementary summer school program next summer um it was a competitive Grant through the Iowa Department of Education and and uh we filled that out um well we finished the day it was due um and and ended up getting awarded the full amount that we requested so um that that felt pretty good and kind of an exciting thing for us um to be able to VI what we find in what research will tell us is that students living in poverty typically have higher learning loss over the summer summer um and we have a lot of kids who need um that summer programming so this will give us the chance to provide that in a way that we can continue to see that growth of our our scores you know when we've looked at scores you probably seen a little dip when they come back in the fall in in students reading proficiency so this will allow us to at least hopefully smooth that curve out a little bit bring it bring it up some I mean I don't know if you can completely eliminate somewh learning loss unless you have full school but maybe reduce it now the Mushi Gushi stuff uh first I want to really thank Aaron um he has a full plate this summer with projects and he is just knocked it out of the park um when you walk into Howard junior or Howard Middle School that's old habit sorry when you walk in Howard middle school in the fall it's going to look like a different building at the front um because of the work that he and his team are doing um to replace that tile the lockers uh to put all those really nice cabinets that we uh not they um saved from the high school to put in there um I think at one point we were looking at the cost and it was well over a couple $100,000 of cost Savings in replacing those cabinets with stuff that we already had so uh he's just done an awesome job with the the transition to the high school uh is going really well um he's just kind of any hit that's come he's taken it and he moves on and and just does a big job making sure we'll be ready for the fall so really appreciative to him uh and then the other Mushi good buy thing um is we've had a really cool unique opportunity because of all the construction and maybe our high school staff not being able to get into their office as always in that a lot of our administrative staff has spent some time officing out of flake view this summer at some point so there's been a lot of camaraderie built where typically you would come in July 1st and everybody would work in their own building and you just meet up at those admin meetings but they've been together I called Brian today um to ask him about something that we need to do and and he and Jared were working through something and you're not going to often get to see an opportunity in a district even of our size where the ad and the elementary principal are working on a project but I think that kind of relationship building that we're getting with this team is going to really pay off for us moving forward it's a really fun Bunch that we've got together um so we're going to have a really really good time so that's my mushy gushy stuff there okay um takeways I think I can't remember if I went first last time it was my turn or not I don't want to double it but I don't remember so I'm just going to say mik I'm not sure if I just don't want to double dip on the first time here you know I start going around with the new every time if you haven't picked up on the pattern every week every month I just pick the next person line to start so um looking forward to all the new buildings and how they're going to be this year um it's exciting the community is excited um so welcome you're new employees and administrators and looking forward to a great year I I guess maybe thank you what I should say so for the new administrators we do board takeaways and what that's a chance every board member to kind of speak at the end of something that they learn tonight something they need to learn more about or something some observation from the meeting or something think that the Board needs to consider so it's just kind of our chance to go around and kind of wrap up comment based on the meeting tonight so that's why we do it if you haven't seen this before so and really what it is it came from about four years ago nobody's paying attention to me and this is how I got him to pay attention so Derek uh again we I'm breaking Kevin's rule we're not supposed to duplicate but again as a as a number one as a parent of three young boys in the district um be in two buildings now well it's still two buildings but um as a parent I'm excited for the direction this District's going um and I can Echo that you know heard nothing but great comments in the community seeing some changes and uh you know new building you know it's fantastic um one takeway um I had was well a couple of them you know again been some good discussion from the board tonight and we don't always agree but we always support the decision made and I think that's very important um to keep this positive momentum going and I just I respect the the multiple viewpoints that we have on on various topics and I know the seven of us are all going to work together to continue pushing forward Thomas I would like to know how the summer re programs going really well great participation I can try to get an actual number for that's fine it's really well highly like the parents that have been using it have had a lot of positives to share um it it seems like the line lasts pretty long and I know belenda shared numbers with me they were significantly higher than we thought the first year would go like I have a feeling we'll probably have to go in the state lets us edit our numbers after we get started I'm gathering we're probably going to have to edit our numbers up aways from where we thought we would be when we when we predicted this start um so it's it's a huge win we actually had it back down a couple weeks just cuz there were kind of getting tired of some of the same stuff week after week but something it's a yeah my other observation is that when we met at the high school we decided that the letter CHS which should go on the north side of the building and they're on the east side now I personally think they should be on the east side just like they are and I suggested at that time of impact maybe nobody really noticed but I think we need to turn that traffic flow around so that you can exit for enter from the East side and then that oneway street in front of the old high school that used to go south only and now go north or make it a two-way street I would say reverse that's a city city street so that's yeah we use that I mean but that that takes care of all it doesn't make any yeah I thought that well we're on board takeway so it's your time ion have opinion well we're in takeable yeah sure that's fine I'll get his opinion thank you I'm trying to be consistent so Carol sure um I'd just like to say that with what the V family and our community has been through in the last couple weeks that I'm very proud of Mr Taylor and all the support he probably had in supporting the family from making the field available to offering support to the students to all the little things that nobody was about thank you good family to support yeah um I thought it was pretty cool to see the other day on they were on the pitch there where the fire departments came in from all over and got in the building and got to do some more training or some education before it was g i I guess I missed that that was going to happen I seen it I was like that's a really good idea you know that's a really good observation because one of the things I heard not to bring my own discussion was but there were people in from like Minnesota Wisconsin to train at that place because that's a big deal to have a building like that available so that's a good observation so um I'm going to do a couple things one is we didn't get it on on here but iasb convention is November 20th or 22nd please uh make note of that in plans to attend if you can um I will tell you that um for for you two if you want to with me you guys have are still need some point to qualify if you want the better board so I'm going to leave it up to you to say yes I want this teach me how you probably know how if you need some help I'm just ask you to reach out if you want that um for our new administrators in here but I'll tell you something I'm very proud of this board the work the board has done put an issue a challenge out a couple years ago as I was uh told before the ISB convention I was asked who I was going to be there I said yeah I said do you know you're getting the better board award and I said what is that and I didn't know what it is but it's basically if you do enough continued education throughout the years as a board member you get recognized to stand up and be recognized with a paper certificate I didn't know anything about it I got all the board members I I will tell you that um I did more than arm twisting um and they all I encourage I did a lot of arm twist to get all the board members to go and uh so we had this discussion on it and everybody says I want I want to do that too this board has made a commitment to be to lead through um our own personal development and professionalism to strive to get the better board award individually and last year this board collectively won as a board there were 20 districts out of 330 that got the better board as a board and we were one of those and we have already qualified for this next year because we have five out of seven members who have qualified so um I I do make the challenge every year to qualify for that and for the um the board to go that but I just want to say to the new people as a board um we want to lead by example and so feel free to hold us accountable for leaving my example because we think teacher we one of their legislative priorities going be teacher quality and uh in professionalism and training and that we should lead by doing our own what development we can do as a board member so I'm very proud of what the board has done and will continue to do and uh our job is here to support you and I I would just say welcome to each and every one of you on that team having said that I'm really thinking working with Mr Taylor in the schedule the board retreat's not going to happen this summer if you haven't figured it out so it's just I think that's got overwhelmed by events we'll work on a plan to do another one because I still think that's that's pretty important um and then I have something else that I'll talk to you I don't surprise you with it oh yeah and the other thing I'll say is we we did um we didn't we only went to a couple buildings last year one of the things we like I like to do as a board is we to hold a board meeting every year in each of the buildings and so as you Mr Taylor is um we want to hold a board meeting in each building and that gives you as the building administrator what we've done in the past is to get however you want to show your building off and your team so we've had things like Terry had a video Once of all the things that she was doing and how through all the different grades you were used in the same curriculum and how it went from kindergarten all the way through five and she did that through video we went into a building and um we went into the middle school and one of the teachers was there and actually had students who came in at night and math class and showed us how they did technology interacting of like I can give this question up they can do it on their on their Chromebooks and I can see it up here and we got to see that in real action um we went into the high school and Brad I think that the math came came and just talked to us about how they work as a department to build upon one each other they talk about a couple conferences they went yeah they talked about some conferences they went through and so so food and oh it was that they no pressure no pressure that I only building that had food for it but but so as you go through that your work Mr Taylor is we we want to make sure we get it on what we didn't do was get it on the schedule early enough and we didn't get to every building this last year and I want to get back into every building because I think it's important for the board to be in the building to see what's going on part of what we walked through is Aaron walked through the five-year maintenance plan for the building so we as a board know that we are doing what we need to be doing to keep your buildings maintained you know what's going on because we don't want things to fall in the state of dis repair and we got to spend $30 million in 5 years like we're doing right now and so we want to to be proactive in maintaining the buildings we want you to Showcase your buildings and that because one of our priority we got two priorities the board this year and and one of them is District culture and the other one is student achievement those are the two board's priorities and so the way we get feedback on students an achievement is to have you talk to us in your building what you do you can have students there you can have staff there whatever you want to do it is a blank cus for your creativity but we do want to visit every building every year and I found that to be some of the funnest meetings that we have and we have a lot of means are not always fun so having said that um welcome to the team um we want to lead by example and we're looking forward to great things with you guys being here so that is really my very lengthy board president report dissertation we cut off your microphone yeah we're going to have to liic got a lot to say brother so 25th amendments coming I might just vote for that [Applause] myself okay if I can bring us back into all of this the next item we do have another closed session and this is for Mr Taylor's evaluation so uh we're going to need a motion on the table and a roll call for a Clos session pursuant to Iowa Code section 21511 I to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose hiring performance evaluation appoint or hiring performance appointment discharge is being considered to prevent needless and irreparable harm to that individual's reputation of that individual request a close session so I need that as a motion to the second do we have the request I have requested a close session I signed a uh document and give it to Lisa and I'm requesting that close session because uh I believe in continuous growth and I'm hoping that the board will tell me items that uh will help me to grow as an individual and I think that is important for a leader to have a strong persona but I'm hoping to get to be vulnerable in this in this setting to uh to learn more and to grow more as a superintendent so I think it could have needless reparable harm on my reputation in order for me to grow session we have finished Mr Taylor's review and that will remain a Clos session so what I would like to do is um as as a as a board I will say that we appreciate Mr Taylor and everything that he has done for the district and we'll continue to do and look forward the good things we're very supportive of Mr Taylor and at the same time I will say that the board does not get to evaluate Lisa sports but I think on the behalf of the board I will say Lisa the board appreciates all that you do you uh do a lot for the board you do for a lot the district and your work is very much appreciate it and so thank you on behalf of the board for all that you do for us as well and we'll be expecting a Pancake Day flub and and we will end because I'm sure your hand is getting cramped from no and we
