The NOA County Government Center hosted a recount for the Lo Lake City Council race. Just 24 votes separated Julia Nelson and Dale Stac's vote totals on election day. With support from city and county staff, more than a dozen election judges handcounted every ballot that was cast. There are a whole bunch of people who come out who at the spur of the moment say, "Okay, I can come and be an election judge. We all care about fair and accurate elections. >> The results stayed the same with Julia Nelson earning a seat on the city council. >> Congratulations. >> Thank you, B. >> But each Nelson and Stace earned one more vote due to ballot markings. >> We did see some odd ballots. We saw some ballots where interestingly it was a vote for Dale and me, but the ovals were um shaded in on different parts of the ballot and then there was one totally blank. >> A lot of city effort goes into both election day itself and any recounts that follow. And I'm very particularly grateful to Robera Colotti, our city clerk, who is a woman with a wealth of experience, and she is very careful and very particular. >> Nelson is looking forward to taking her oath of office in January and getting to work. >> Actually, I'm quite excited. We're doing onboarding um Randy Renker and I in December and I'm quite excited to uh delve into all of the projects and find out um all of the ways that I can help our citizens. For North Metro TV News, Danica Peterson reporting.
