all right I'd like to call to order our Tuesday October 1st special called meeting and we'll start with the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liy and justice for all Michelle we do the roll call please yes Palmer here madas here P here um grin sorry pway here Mueller here superintendent stck here thank you Michelle yep our mission statement is creating worlds of opportunity for each and every learner all belong all succeed our core values are Community Excellence collaboration Integrity respect courage and Innovation um we have our agenda approval adjustments announcements we'll have the approval of the agenda can I get a motion to appr approve the agenda so moved Julie in a second second second by Mary any discussion hearing none we'll proceed to vote all those in favor signify by saying I I opposed abstain motion carries next we have our action item which is our youth Outreach officer agreement can I get a motion to approve the youth Outreach officer agreement so moved Laura in a second second second by Julie any discussion Jessica um I just want to thank everybody for all of the time and attention that went into multiple discussions about um our agreement uh with the city and the youth um Outreach officer um thanks to uh the the board for our robust discussion thanks to uh city council and staff um the police department The District administration I think as a result of those conversations and revisions We've Ended up with an agreement that is much clearer and much more durable and really meets the needs of our district and the city so I'm very comfortable with the revisions that were made and I am just really appreciative of all of that additional time and effort I know that um ideally we would have had a more permanent agreement going into the school year I don't think the timing allowed us to do that in a way that uh the board was able to to do their due diligence in having these discussions so um this is the place that we're at I'm glad that we made it here and I'm very um appreciative again of the time and um grateful for um the collaborative relationship that we um continue to enjoy with the city and the police department so thank you absolutely very um thank you for that I uh there's not much I could add to it uh I think that as somebody who has come up prior to being on the board and talked about this issue it is something that's very near and dear to my heart um and I think we have gone in a really great Direction starting with getting more feedback from the people that are in our Halls our staff our students our families and thinking about what their needs are while also still holding on to our fiscal responsibilities our responsibility for safety for everybody that walks through our doors um and also that collaboration with the City and I I um a person once a very very smart person shared that in negotiations everybody should maybe leave a little bit like a little bit disappointed um but I don't feel that way with this this I think honestly um is a really wonderful opportunity for us to Showcase um how well our community our school community and our um our larger communities uh come together to to keep everybody safe so I am beyond thrilled and again you know backing on piggybacking on what M Madera said I'm really grateful for all of the time because this was a lot of time people may only you know see a couple of these conversations on camera and think oh well they didn't do a lot with it no we had a lot of meetings and not all of us were at meetings some of us were at lots more meetings and lots more meetings and lots lots more meetings um Chief Markham uh so I just want to say thank you and I look forward to you know continue to have conversations about this and learning and growing as we need to and this contract really allows us that so thank you thank you Mary any any other discussion hearing none we'll proceed to vote all those in favor signify by saying I I opposed abstain motion carries all right and with that we will adjourn our meeting at 7: right
