the only candidate nominated for the office ofTreasurer she is declared elected by acclamation nice work[Music] team okay now we come to the notes portion ofthe things so now we are moving on to appointmentof parliamentarian adoption of Robert'sRules of Order so uh I will just say that in our background it does say thatum Robert's Rules of Order newly revised um if you look on the table the booksthat we have are not technically the newly revised Edition these are addition11 newly revised as 12 so they are on order and we will have themso I would like toum make a motion to because I have to motion this one don't I it's anappointment no it's just an appointment okay uh so are there anydiscussions for um Robert Rules of Order based on any that or anyother Clarian is an appoint by the chairRob rules thankyou um okay so let's jump back to um to um use uh Robert's Rules of Order newlyrevised um the 12th edition as soon as it arrives the 11th I guess until we getthat um forward as our official rules thank you so much I second all rightsecond by Julie uh all right we'll do a Voice vote on that all those in favorsay I I oppose osed abstained motion carries all right so now that we've gotthat part figured out uh let's talk about the parliamentarian role speakingof roles that we love people to be in um historically that has been membermaderas uh does anybody else want that role nobody's being down that doorJessica do you want that role I I would accept an appointment wonderful we wouldlove to appoint you to that thank you all right so uh Jessica madas has beenappointed to as our parliamentarian for this round of for this yearokay so moving on to meeting dates and times and wehave who is oh I'm presenting on this it'sme all right so um background regular Schoolboard meetings have been held onthe 2 and fourth Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. with the exception of July inwhich the meeting would be on the third Tuesday and December would only have onemeeting it is recommended that the board set a meeting day and time that isconvenient for the members of the board it's also recommended that no newbusiness shall be taken up by the board after 10:45 except by unanimous consentof the board members and yes that does come into like in playsometimes uh let's see there will be an option of adding a work session worksessions have been scheduled the third Tuesday of the month at 5:30 Schoolboardmeetings are held here in the district community room so with all of that I amlooking for a motion to keep our meeting days on the second and fourth Tuesdayexcept for in J July and December as noted and the work session um on the 3DTuesday of the month so I'll take a motion so moved Julie second secondsecond by la all those in favor please say I Idiscussion oh I'm sorry is there any discussion all right I'll do a Voicevote thank you uh all those in favor say I I I opposed abstained motion carries okayso now we are looking at um approve theappointment of board representatives to standing committees so there's been an updated um note ofappointments that's in the next one isn't it yeah all right so we're lookingfor um the different uh representatives tothe the Myriad of groups that we are in soum do I list them all out first we'll startwith Ms okay so we're going to talk all right so appointment of boardrepresentative um so Minnesota Schoolboard association's legislativeliaison is there anybody who would like to have like this is open for discussionI would be interested in that appointment okay um is there anybodyelse interested in that appointment I'm not interested but Iwould like to know more about how that's been for Nimmad how that's currently in that position ohokay I don't know why it was on here for the last one but what like so I readwhat it was but I didn't really it didn't say too much about what thatmeans about what all the different yeah like what's what the role and Compasssure um so yes you're looking at the um yeah I was looking at thatolder um Okay so superintendent stenvik I'm going to lean on you here for a bituh can you talk a little bit about the msba legislative weas on position Ithink it mostly entails with the participating in the delegate assemblyum and then you know any of the msba opportunities that that board membersare able to participate in um I don't think that there's aregular um my understanding is that there's not like a regular monthlymeeting or anything like that oh gotcha yeah and I believe as I as I recall wecan have up to three board members on the delegate assembly is that correctthat's correct but I think the delegate assembly Representatives like you haveto apply to msba once for a two-yearappointment okay okay thanks so it sounds like we are as ofright now so we will we'll go through all of these and then we will vote on itum I think at the end as a slate yeah um all right so bright Worksformally Metro thank you Metro XU um this entails one meeting y one annualmeeting one annual meeting yes thank you superintendent syic uh so that wassomething that our previous chair uh was doing looking for somebody who would beinterested in joining that space I think for I'm sorry for Karina'sbenefit as being a new board board member maybe we could kind of explainwhat bright works is and I think it's really important before weassign yes superintendent senic yes thank you uh breit works is aCooperative that we work with for a variety of a a variety of differentthings from um assistive technology Cooperative purchasing professionaldevelopment um and it's like a member it's amembership it's part of the The Cooperative umum sist technology different assessments that staff need to take they providethat different student opportunities like knowledgeBowl um um and then the the state ofMinnesota used to have the regional centers of excellence that would supportschools and that has all been folded into bright Works um which is you knowfocuses a lot on um accountability and literacy right now so it's a Cooperativeum and they're just uh they are housed in bethl is where meeting in beUniversity at two Pine Tree Drive I'd beinterested I actually so at work I work at bethl University and I've heard likebright Works before and I'm like that sounds so familiar and I'm like why doesthat sound so familiar and I thought I was just getting my wires crossed withlike this school and that school um but I'd be interested in that I think it'sum it's great and and it's convenient for me I'm not going to I was going tosay must be a heck of a commute though right um I I definitely uh would beinterested in it and learning about more and I see the website on the other sheetso um I'll I'll look into it but yeah I'm in if no one else is and how manydelegate how many people can we have appointed to that just one okay is thereanybody else that would be interested in that role all right so the Minnesota StateHigh School league uh Julie you were most recently on do you want to do wouldyou feel okay speaking to that sure um Minesota State High School league is theorganization that basically handles the insurance for our students who are inathletics and activities um and they meet quitefrequently during the year it's probably five or six meetings a year um for as aboard um I follow currently I just follow their kind of their boardmeetings and their minutes and agendas see if there's anything that comes up umthis last year I did participate in one of their conferences that they had andwent with our um activities director um Mr Henderson and he and I went to thatand it was really it was really beneficial they had some changes and itwas interesting to understand kind of our regulations require requirements tobe a part of that or organization so um I enjoyed being apart of it and I'd be happy to do it again wonderful but obviously anybodyelse want to do it is there is there anybody else who would be interested inthat position all right so Julian looks likewe will be thank you very much for your work yeahuh Metro uh 916 board okay I I'll give you a rundown on howthis is okay um the Met uh 916 is our special education District um what it isis it's a collaboration of um of quite a number of school districts in the areaand we all work together on um being able to um serve the needs of our of ourstudents that have special needs um there's also um a um higher educationcomponent with um Century College as well and um and uh they have monthlyboard meetings um uh that is out in um White Bear Lakewonderful um so it is the fir the usually the first Wednesday of themonth all right now um and it's an actual sittingboard right I mean you've hired superintendent like most we hire asuperintendent there's there's a and um there are there's quite a number of youknow like I said there's a um a number of schools and different programs andstuff that um that U that you learn about um in addition to uh um a lot ofuh like I said there's a lot of collaboration um like currently rightnow um we're starting u a training program where we'll actually be able tocertify um special education teachers actually be able to get theircertifications for um for and we're actually going to be able to accreditthem while they're working which is amazing so it's basically it's a mentorprogram which is really super exciting so um we're just into our first year ofthat and I look forward to seeing what's going to happen does anybody have anyquestions because there there's a lot um a lot of specif yeah what so is is ourrepresentative a board member then yeah the repres all all of the board membersof 916 are elected board members to their District okay yes unlike um um uhthe what is it 917 right across um they're they'reactually appointed they're not actually board members which is interesting rightacross the river from us they're they're not actuallyelected uh Michelle I I just I think it's important for us to um to say what916 is like how we like what so um so it's our special education um District alot of school districts um come together and are a part of this in same similarway to Bright works like it's it is a um a group effort so uh right a lot ofschool district yeah um like for example um uh there are um there's there's anumber of special schools like ker blue um is one of them probably no mostnotable um if you're interested in learning anything about carner Blue umthere is an excellent website that will actually show you that this school isactually designed for students with autism um so it it was a it was a um alot of um input from from um teachers and from student being able to create anenvironment where um that is Freer from distractions so that they're able tolearn a little bit better but it's a school that's specifically designedinstead of having a program inside of a school we developed a school and thenall of our we can send our students there um um and um and then otherdistricts can too so we can collaborate and um be able toeconomize our programs you know um for example U we also have access to likespecial services um where we can um hire a portion of a teacher who uh would comeout for example um um blind deaf heart of hearing um uh we don't neednecessarily a full-time teacher to be able to do those Supportive Services butwe can hire one when we need it for the hours that we need for those students umso this is a it's a great way of being able to use the best of our resourcesand be able to make the best of our resources and there are alsoopportunities where if we wanted to try something new um uh there has been oftenum an effort um by the superintendent staff over there to be able to work withmaybe another District on a specific project if we wanted to try somethingnew um they're they're great at being able to create the structure and andhelp us to be able to work together um a good example is number of years back wedid a um a collaboration on uh return on investment um where uh we would be ableto look at not only are we working this program are we actually getting out ofthe program what we're putting into it um so uh there were three districts thatwere part of that and we were able to share they uh 916 actually hired a dataanal U um analyst for us to be able to do the numbers and be able to do that sowe didn't have to find one and then do it independently we were able to each dosomething a little bit different and then see how it all worked out umprobably our most notable was our now I can't remember what the nameof it is okay that's all good oh yeah umuh we've got it in all of our schools now I have idea Avid Avid Avid yes Avidokay Avid is a great example um because when we first put didn't AV it it wasvery expensive initially you know to be able to um to be able to get the abilityto be able to do this type of a program and um we can you know and and be ableto utilize the tools but we wanted to make sure that what we were doing wasactually benefiting the children y you know because you don't want to put youyou want to make sure that you're getting your money's worth out of itbecause we want to make sure that all the time that we are spent not only thefunds but the time that we're spending with these students is beneficial forthe students you know and be able to prove that in kind of numbers way waswas uh was something we needed assistance with but there's been quite anumber of other opportunities like that so anyway well I I'm a big believer in916 I don't know if you can tell only a little only a little and and all theboard members Whenever there is an opportunity to visit some of theseprograms I highly recommend it yeah okay because this is where the Innovationhappen because if it's working with these students y it'll work for anystudents yeah thank you for all of that alert it's really important um Jessicathat's actually what I was going to ask is I know in the past the superintendentum and the board of 916 have offered uh tours of the schools in 9116 to memberdistrict board members um and just was going to ask if that's something youimagine they'll be doing again this year um actually if if uh if uh if you wouldlike um I could see whether or not we could tour maybe one of the schools as aboard you know as long as it is posted um I I imagine we could do that it wouldhave to be arranged through the superintendent though so I'm going to goout on a limb here and say that uh the liaison to that board has historicallybeen member you Vice chair Palmer um does anybody else want to do that wouldyou like to do that again first of all I would love to do that again I don'twould any body else be interested in that one day not now okay I think youbring back great um notes and ideas from 9116 and like I know so much so muchInnovation there and and and like I said I mean if you're if you're figuring outways of being able to actually like I said you be able to actually makeprogress and improve the lives of these students it's it it's best practices arejust best practices yeah yeah thank you yes okayso um thank you for that Laura uh moving on the liaison to the city of ColumbiaHeights so this is attending um a uh city council meeting uh you knowpreferably once a month if you can but every couple months uh you know showingup and just providing some background um and being available is there anybody whowould like that yes I have a question first before we start doing that becauseI know we had discussion last year about the Fridley connection I guess where wehave like the city of Fridley and North Park and how they're pretty muchintertwined with the same like policies and things like that from being in adifferent city are we still planning on putting whoever is in North Park with umthe city of Fridley or like how are we doing that this year I know we discussedit but we didn't really land for the board to decide yeah I mean yes so Idon't think it's necessary that they have to gotogether I mean that that is so what are what are everybody else's opinions on itbecause well I know we were running into so like you had the city of fry and Ihad um you know the school and I noticed we were kind of like ships passing inthe night yeah well we were no we oh no no we crashing at time but like we justkind of had some of the you know same things going and I definitely wasn'ttrying to like be in your lane you know cuz you know I don't know I just know wehad discussion about it being like if you're kind of there then you would bethere too for certain things because some of their stuff goes into the schoolyou know I don't know I'm just bringing it up honestly like if it works we'refine I just want to make sure that we weren't forgetting about that part wherewe were kind of bumping into one another I appreciate that so going to do leaz onto the schools in the next round so it's something to cons I think it's a goodand worthy conversation to have um yes and perhaps a recommendation that if wedo end up with a different North Park liaison than liais on to the city ofFridley that those two board members have a conversation upfront about howthey want to manage communication and collaboration yeah that's yes thatsounds good um okay so back to leaz on city ofColumbia Heights um Vice Palmer that was you uh this last round is there anybodywho would like to take that role this for this uh calendaryear I would be interested in doing that Jessica all right I apologize the timejust doesn't work for me no they they switched their time too I know and andnow it's like I'm still at work yep same um okay so liais on to the city ofFridley so same thing is with Columbia Heights so I would like to be the cityof fredley um I know the mayor and I feel like I have built a relationshipwith them over the last couple years which has been a real positive thing andso I think it would be really helpful to have somebody that's already been at thecouncil meetings and knows a few of the council members um but somebody elsemight want to jump in there well they do have a new mayor thisyear which is I do know him yep yep and that's important too so uh is thereanybody else who would be interested in that all right uh and then moving on tothe city of Hilltop Michelle this was yours do you have any interest in doesanybody have an interest in this in this role I would do it again I mean I woulddo it I just didn't want to like like yeah you know um but yeah you know itwas it was fine there they don't have too many huge meetings it's very smallum you know and very intimate like you you really get to know them very quicklygreat city um yeah I don't I don't have any problem okay continuing that allright so uh that's great now we're going to move on to the policy subcommittee soum that has been uh so was former chair Mueller uh uh Julie and then Jessica aswell so right now as it stands I will be on it aschair and then who who else like what where are wegoing with the um policy subcommittee I have a question yes whatis your question what is the policy subcommittee oo what is the policysubcommittee so once a month we meet and um the subcommittee meets with thesuperintendent and various directors uh in the school and we this is where wemake the for all int the the rules of the school so this is where things likethe dress code comes in or um what constitutes a flex day some of thosepolicies um visitor policy visitor policy you know um creating policylistening to those people so uh that's what the subcommittee does so they meetthey make um recommendations based on feedback from that subcommittee then itgets brought here to the board table um it gets presented to the public and thenwe vote on it so it's a multi-step transparent process greatquestion I actually I had a question from the way I understood it the studentSchool Board uh representatives were going to be um encouraged to attend bothsubcommittees right where are we so after now that they're sworn in our nextstep is we're scheduling a meeting and then I'll be going over all of that withthem okay okay but that's the way I understood is that you wouldn't have tonecessarily lock yourself in on one or the other I thought you were going togive up Vice chair so you can I I'm G to say I I seriouslyconsidered it I seriously considered it because I really want to be back on thisthe policy committee but I know I know I know and it's the way the policy iswritten there you go that's the there's the policy okay so I'm going to putforth I want to change that policy I'm going to put that in writing here soundsgood my feedback is let's change that right chair grin so we need three so weneed two other people yes I to to lur I'm just wondering if you could providesome clarifying information about um how the chair and vice chair are assigned tosubcommittees when you say you'll be serving on policy committee as chairyeah so I am both chair of the policy committee and also the way the policy iswritten when we created the subcommittees it is written that thechair School Board chair chairs the subcommittee on um policy and the vicechair chairs the community engagement subcommittee and those are the only twosubcommittees those are the only two subcommittees unless standing standingthank you yeah quit throwing me curve balls y'alllike dang I would like to be on policy you would like to remain okay um you want to be on policy yes so allright so the the so the only change to that thenis um adding me uh so then the community engagementsubcommittee until we get that policy recommendation yep it's the rest of youso wonderful okay so done doneum so moving on to the association of metropolitan school districts this isthe 7:30 Friday morning meeting um that happens on Zoom or in person go aheadsuperintendent stanic so amsd is essentiallyum an organization that all of the Metro areadistricts are a part of they serve as our lobbyist as well at the statecapital they do a lot of legislative work um they provide us with a lot ofinformation as the as the new legal requirements change for schools um Iit's just an incredible organization so I I as a superintendent rely heavily onthat Consortium and that collaboration um the once a month there are there areum it's the first Friday of every month um meetings can be attended in person atquora which is in Little Canada Roseville um or they're also availableon Zoom so it is they are you know fairly easy to to attend um yeah so thisboard member would be attending with me cor is actually 916 building yes it is yyep and it's really nice it is it is well yeah that was an example of a lotof collaboration yep well if no one else is interested I'd be interested I kindof did it um you know this past year but not fully on and I'd like to take thaton if if you didn't want to continue or if anyone else didn't or wasn'tinterested you're interested I see that I can also attend as a guest so thatwould totally be fine oh you sure I don't I don't mind so the other piece isum even if you are not a member they uh they record all of it and that isavailable to us and we get a lot of really great information from that soeven if you don't attend in person um or you aren't the member you can still haveaccess to that immediate information so that's helpful like I'm I'm socomfortable still just getting the recordings and you know um lettingmember Smith have this like I'm I actually I'm going to encourage it um itis it is a it is a great way to like get in and actually talk to other people tooa lot of other districts I highly recommend that actually in your firstyear but it's up to you I'm you know whatever you choose yep so uh Karina is that something you'reinterested in and it's once a month first Fridayalthough it wasn't this last in person or Zoom it'll be it'll be the 10th thisyear yep the 10th this year yeah yeah is coming for yep it's this is the onlytime when it's like not the first I think I'd like to do it as a guestokay so then we will keep Michelle in that role and have you as guest allright wonderful all right uh moving on to theColumbia Heights Business Council most recently yep go ahead you I didn't knowif someone was about to like give a description but this is what I'minterested in okay um did you say you wanted adescription of it I'm sorry that was a Cadence so I was just waiting in casesomeone was going to share it was um Jessica you've been doing this one doyou want do you feel comfortable talking a little bit about what you what yourrole was there um sure so I mean it's a lot of um meeting uh uh business uhfolks in the community they meet once a month it's a lot of networking there isa presentation on a different topic every month um and uh it's reallysometimes we've presented as the district's presented um the city or thecounty has presented on different projects um so it's really a split uhrole of um getting information through thesepresentations but then also um networking and collaborating with um abusiness owners in the community and talking to them about things that arehappening in our districts and how we impact one another sowonderful so I hear Karina you wer interested in thatum is anybody else no that is also a 7:30 a.m. meeting7:30 to 9:30 7:30 9:30 is that only in person as well it's only that one isthat one is only in person yeah okay they do sometimes Supply snacks thoughif that if that persu conversely amsd always has snacksand if you zoom it you have snacks at home so just to serve full breakfastyeah they still do oh they do yeah all right okay wonderful so now I'm going touh I'm going to summarize all these and then we will votee as slate if there'sall right so um I will need a motion to uh for the appointment of thefollowing Representatives msba uh maderas briw Works pwayMinnesota State High School league Hol uh Northeast Metro intermediateDistrict 916 board Palmer leaz on to the city of Columbia Heights maderisleaz on to the city of Fridley Hol leaz on to the city of Hilltoppway policy subcommittee granin Holmaderas Community engagement subcommittee Palmer pway andSmith Association of metropolitan school districts amsd pway with Smith asguest and then the Columbia Heights Business Council Smith Smith can I get amotion so moved can I get a second second second Jessica um any discussion all right oh I just this isfor the the actual year calar calendar year I just wanted to make sure that wasunderstood because our school Liaisons are for the school year that's why wesplit it exactly yes thank you for that again yep so this is for the school yearso given all of that if there's no oh go ahead and effective immediately right itis effective immediately yes if there's no other discussion wewill do a vote all those in favor say I I Iopposed abstained motion carries nice work okayso um just as a quick side note um Karina typically what we do in this roleis um when there is a I didn't even say what we're doing now did I did I sayboard leadies on okay cool uh so we're going to talk about the appointment ofbaz on to our schools uhso historically when somebody uh comes in uh on the election year we have thatperson take up the remainder of the school year here for the person thatleft that position so that LE is on spot so in this instance we would have you umcomplete the school year for Highland um so we are going to betalking about the next school year leaon August August until um well it says uhaffective July 1st superintendent St on the paper that you printed out for methank you yes so July July 1st through the 6th of January 2026 so this isForward Thinking um the information that we all have in board book lists where wewhere people currently are until the end of this schoolyear um and just to recap it for those watching at home I'm at the high schooluh member madaras is at Columbia Academy as I said earlier umSmith you Karina you're going to be at Highland uh North Park is MichelleValley View is Laura and the family center is Julie so we are thereuntil July or June uh June 30th starting July 1st we need to sort of we shiftaround those rules so um that is not effective immediately all of that to beget there all right so who would like to be the liazon to the high school is there anybodywho has a burning desire to be at the high school I will continue in that rolethat's that works for me um and then we will so like we didpreviously I'll go through we'll we'll talk about all of them then we will voteas a slate because wait no these are appointments we don't have to vote on itis that correct yeah believe these are okay thank you um all right so ColumbiaAcademy who would like to be the leaz on at Columbia Academy I'd like to do thatis there anybody else like I'm wants to arm RussellMichelle for it noMichelle um pway for Columbia Academy uh Highland I'd like to stay at Highlandyou would like to stay at Highland okay uh who would like to do the leaz ontoNorth Park I can do North Park did you want todo North Park I have Columbia Academy okay I yeah and then that so like we fit out last year I'm gonna give it up well um and like we talked aboutpreviously you're going to be the L on to the city of Fridley so this makessense that works out so okay unless director who would like tohave a conversation with herself about howby a little collaboration you know I yes I love the transparency um all right soJulie we'll have you stay at North Park uh Valley View that is currently youLaura would you where would you like to be okay sounds good and then CharlieBrown I know I was no I was holding out I was actually really hoping for thefamily center appointment so I'm happy I'm happy to have that yes thank youwell that was easy so Valley View to Laura and the family center to Jessicaso remember this is not immediately this takes place over thesummer all right so the appointments are I'll just read them again for Stephanieover there and those folks watching at home those three people that watch thisjust kidding um seven seven seven people uh the Columbia Heights High School isme I'm the liaison Columbia Academy the liaison is Michelle pway the Highlandliaison will continue to be uh Pina Smith North Park will be Julie hulValley View will be Laura Palmer and the family center will be Jessicamaderas all right and I do not need chair gr I was gonna say though we arenot voting on these individual appointments we do have a recommendedmotion for the appointments as a whole okay then I will I would I would movethat motion so I will make a motion that is now moved by Jessica do I have asecond yes second by Michelle all those in favor say I I opposed abstainedmotion carries okayso this is the so we're moving on to appoint uh mentor to the new boardmember this is something we have not um formally done in this way before um sowe're going to talk about you know the appointment ofa mentor and talk about that process a little bit so um we have need of uh OneMentor for member Smith and I would like toopen the floor to discussion on mentorship does anybody have a burningdesire to be like what let's back it up for a second let's talk about um whatwhat we're looking for in a mentor rule so I think we codified this a little bitmore um recently but do you can you speak a little bit to thatsuperintendent thank you so we utilize we've modified the um the there's a longmentorship checklist from msba and we've modified it so that it you know meets uhkind of aligns to what Columbia Heights does um so there's that the mentor wouldneed to go through that and it shows what the executive assistant does whatthe superintendent does and what the mentor should be doing on that list umand then typically meeting with the Mente um or connecting whether it'sphone call or meeting um prior to a board meeting and even after a boardmeeting um just to make sure that the mentee our new board member is preparedand understands what the vote is going to be or what the informational itemsthat are that are going to be and then after a meeting debriefing with thementee on you know did you understand all of that or did you have anyquestions um so it's really being you know that person that the that the newboard member can call call on and ask questions um but then also there is aformal checklist through msba that we go through thank you um I know I have beena mentor and I've been Mente like I've been um mentored so it's I reallyappreciate that and I'm hopeful that that was well Reed not to put my mentormentee on the spot so um I think that you know we there's wehave a wonderful resource in member Palmer who's been here for for a numberof years I would I would love to if if you would if you would have I wouldaccept that yeah okay so then we will uh it's anoint appointment yep so thenwe'll have uh Laura be the mentor for Karina so wonderful sounds good all right somoving on salaries and per DM for board members so um our salaries are listed inboard book uh as well as the pum this has notchanged um and I believe uh in the packet as well as in board book there'sa salary survey um we meet significantly more than other districts at least 10yeah we significantly more um and so I think it's really one thing that Iover the years have looked at with this is looking at um the amount that we payfor this which is not a lot anyway um for a school board member but looking atit in context of how much time that we're investing in it as well soum I will let's see does this have to be a motion yes itdoes um so I will make a motion do I have to should Ido I have to read out what the salary is I mean it's transparent I just amcurious more for oh yes I do never mind it's right there at the bottomrecommended motion thank you all right so um I will accept a motion to set the20 25 salaries for all board members at $500 per month and establishadditional compensation for board officers as follows chairis um an additional $100 a month and furthermore all membersof the board may receive per DM payments over the salariesestablished by the board of education for meetings ofnsba msba mediation sessions and such other meetings as may be approved by theboard and which take the member away from his or her or their regularobligations of the regular workday or which are held on Saturday or Sundaysaid compensation for the per DM payment will be up to $50 per day for up to fourhours and I'm sorry wait yes and up to $100 uhper day in excess of 4 hours uhso any discussion where did where does our paycome from like what fund do we get paage out of sorry do we need to have a motionon the floor oh I would like yes I thought Maryyou make the motion yeah I thought she I thought I did yeah Oh I thought you werereading the recommended motion ask so can I have a motion to approve thesalary and prdm payments so thank you from from Laura second second fromJessica thank you discussion I'll get it next timeno appreciate it no thanks uh so question from Michelle is where does dothese funds come from so general fund I mean I thought but I just like want toknow yeah thank you yes Julie I would just like to point out that we're verycompetitive across districts in the in the area so I wouldn't say that this ismore than any other District really is is paying out and we do work really hardon this board and have more meetings than most districts do so um I thinkwe're being very frugal with this budget yeah just to let youknow thank you as the treasur as a TreasurerI and I would like to point out that we meet 32 times a year we have scheduledmeetings whereas the surrounding districts um 24 yeah I'd like to know what they did overin South Washington boy they just bumped up their salaries and I would like to know like we we usedto be right around the same well and I you know I would like to just say thatum thanks to the community we have a lot of our general like theum the why am I blanking on Levy thank you operating Levy uh was tied toinflation this is not this has not tied to inflation um and yet we're stilldoing the work for about the same that it's always been so um all right isthere any further discussion I would like to point out oneother thing too it hasn't changed since I've been on the board and I think ithad been about 10 years before that that it had been changed yeah so back in theday they were rolling it in like yeah it was it was high yeahright okay so no further discussion than uh a question actually um is this setannually that we approve it or is it for the term this is annually so we do thisevery year all right so then will take a voteall those in favor say I I opposed abstained motion carriesokay director Henkin is joining us um to talk about the designation ofdepositories resolution thank you chair graninmembers of the board and superintendent stck um so the first item that I had umas said is the designation of depositories uh this is an annual umthing that we bring at the organization meeting um and it hasn't changed um inmany years and it will not we don't uh aren't changing anything again sothere's an attached resolution um for this one um so our um main bank um thatwe move money through is Northeast Bank um US Bank and and Med slav um we usefor direct deposit and Wells Fargo is our OPB Trust Bank of America is whereour PE cards go through and then P PMA Financial network is where our cash onhand sits um and our investments sit um so that's um all of the um financialinstitutions within this resolution okay thank thankyou so I have a motion do I read the resolution first oh boyokay so the resolution designating depositories be it resolved that thefollowing be designated as depositories for certain monies of this schooldistrict and as such are authorized and directed to honor and or pay checks ororders when signed by the treasurer and the clerk for the withdrawal or transferof funds on deposit in Bank in whatever form Northeast Bank US Bank Minnesotaschool district liquid asset fund plus MSD LF plus Wells Fargo Bank of Americabe it further resolved that the following investment Brokers are herebyauthorized and directed to honor orders when signed by the treasurer and theclerk for the withdrawal or transfer of funds on deposit in said instructions inwhatever form PMA Financial Network be it further resolved that in case suchdeposits in the designated Banks shall at any time exceed$250,000 said depository shall immediately furnish Bond or Securitiesin lie of bond according to law and the Federal Reserve Bank of the Minneapolisof Minneapolis Minnesota or any of the aforementioned depositaries are herebydesignated as the place for the safekeeping of all Securities furnishedin lie of such Bond can I have discussion oh is therewell have to make a motion first oh it's a resolution all right discussion all right so since it is aresolution we will do a roll call vote Michelle um Palmer I pway I madis ISmith i h i and Gran I all right resolution carries thank youall right so director henkins you're up again for the electronic transferdesignes uh thank you chair granin members of the board and superintendentstck um so this evening um asking for the board to approve uh myself uh Brianhins Director of Finance and operations and Kate wesper deputy director offinance and operations um as desn for processing electronic transfers um sowe're moving money from Banks to bank to make payroll um and and uh payments umdirect deposits with US Bank or you know AP checks coming out of uh P PMAFinancial Network um this gives us authorization to make thosetransactions um uh the deputy director of Finance um makes those transactionsum I oversee those um and also the superintendent receives notificationwhen those transfers happen Okay so can I get a motion toappoint Brian Henkin and Kate Wester as it designes in processing electronictransfers so moved Julia second second by karinaa all those in favor say I I II opposed abstained motion caras hey look at that directorhenkins uh thank you designation of legal council and contracts chair GrantLon members of the board and superintendent stck umthis is also a yearly um item for the board and uh there hasn't been anychanges in in quite a few years in this area um uh we listed in this um seekingapproval we have ratwik um rosac and Maloney um are the primary Law Firm thatwe work with uh Margaret Skelton Joseph langle Laura tubs Booth um are the mainthree at that organization and and then Andrea hehekey um for dorsy Whitney um and designated them as our uh legal councilsum so seeking approval there okay so uh can I get a motion toappoint Margaret Skelton Joseph langle Laura tubs booth and others of rat Wickrosic and Maloney PA and Andrea hkey dorsy and Whitney LLP as its legalcounil designes contract shall be school board chair and superintendent and ordesign a motion um I'll move that and but I do have a question uh second Momotion by Laura second by Michelle discussion go ahead lur um I I just havea question if uh one of these um attorneys here were not able to fulfilltheir duties for whatever reason um do we have to bring another motion forwardto add them uh even though they're with the same firm or are we just umappointing the firm with these as being our primary comp correct okay okay thankyou I I was pretty sure but I thought I'd ask anyway that wasn't 100% And thathas oftentimes been the case um where we've asked for a certain like review ofa document and the the law firm themselves or our contact would say itwill be half the price if I have my assistant or you know someone an internor I don't know who some other employee in the in the same firm review thedocument so we've we've been able to tap into other employees but those are ourmain contacts okay okay thank you great question I was going to ask somethingsimilar so we yes I had a similar question justbecause we do note others when we're talking about counil Eric Rose Zack andMaloney and we don't do the same in the motion for dorsy andWhitney so uh yeah I mean for dorsy Whitney andAndrew HEI has always been our legal council specifically for um when we'redoing uh Bond questions or operating Levy question s um um out to thecommunity um so it's a very specific thing and then we go directly to her forthat um and so that's why we've always just specifically named her um becauseit's such a unique um thing I guess that um she's very specialized inso so if for some reason she wasn't able it would we be able to um the way thisis written would we be able to access other people in the similar way that wewe do with the other um we absolutely could always um uh leverage um uh RatWick rosak Maloney um to support us in that area as well um it's just like Isaid Andrea is so specialized in it we use her specifically so um in her firmwith that so I feel satisfied there's always a hold there's always a fall backbecause we include the and others languagey related to our general legal matter matters that I I think were covered sosounds good all right so um the motion was put forth by Laura with second fromMichelle so um all those in favor say I I I opposed abstained motion carries oh my goodness director henkinsit's you again thank you uh granin members of the board andsuperintendent stck uh this should be my final item of the evening um uh seekingauthorization for the superintendent and Director of Finance and operations tolease purchase and contract goods and services um I'm just going to read thisuh so Minnesota statute uh section 123b do52 addresses the superintendent andbusiness manager authority to lease purchase and contract goods and servicesin our Administration the title of business manager is Director of Financeand operations specifically sub subdivision 2 States the board Mayauthorize the superintendent or business manager to lease purchase and contractfor goods and services within the budget as approved by the board the board'sdelegation of Authority Under This provision applies so long as theestimated amount of the transaction does not exceed the$175,000 and those instances the board must explicitly authorize thetransaction the board renews this authority to enter into contracts at itsannual organizational meeting as we're doing this evening so so seeking uhmotion to approve that okay so the motion to designate superintendent andDirector of Finance and operations authorization to lease purchase andcontract for goods and services within the budget as approved by the schoolboard and the amounts up to $175,000 pursuant to Minnesota statutesection 123b do52 subdivision 2 can I get a motion somoved Julie second second any discussion um I would just like to sayuh I think your first organizational meeting Julie you had questions aboutthat amount and wondered if that was actuallyum very low like a very low burden so and so realizing now that this is instatute so it's not something we can really change or move upward which is Ithink the state needs to do that considering it's been there a long timeso inflation right they'll get there eventually it's on their list I'm sureawesome all right um thank you for that I it was notable for me and I appreciatethat um okay so uh we have a motion all those in favor say I I I opposedabstained motion carries thank you thank you director henkins uh now we are atdesignation of election clerk it's me and that is you yeah I was like lookingover there for no what is he here granin members of the board this evening I'mseeking the board appointment for Stephanie Alvarez as our electionclerk okay so Stephanie Alvarez as our election clerk can I get a motion somoved Karina second second Michelle any discussion hearing none oh so sorryLaura and you would like to do this Stephanie would she liketo okay I know some it's a lot of work Iwas going to say I really appreciate doing that Ro you Stephanie so this is avolun told appointment uh no all right uh seeing no other discussion uh allthose in favor say I I I opposed abstained motion carried thank youStephanie you're welcome okay so we're almost there guysit's the last one uh director stunkle thank you for coming up talking aboutthe designation of official newspaper yes um thank you uh and umchair granin members of the boardsuperintendent stenvik uh this this evening I'm here here to suggest that topropose that you accept the life as the official newspaper for our schooldistrict um the selection of the official legal publication for theschool district is based on Minnesota statute 33182 I did reach out to both the norEaster and the life the life was the only publication that submitted um a biduh the life is also the only publication that covers the entirety of our schoolSchool District so I come this evening to suggest that you consider the life asthe official newspaper for Columbia Heights Public Schools thank you thankyou so much so can I get a motion to designate the life as the officialnewspaper for the calendar year 2025 for the Columbia Heights Public School District Laura second second Michellediscussion a question um a number of years back um I I know that there hadthere was a um a gentleman that was talking about um doing something onlineversus doing a paper um can you explain why we can't do that we have to have aprinted copy are you wondering about the thequestion that was brought I think to the state about if something needed to bethat is um kind of beyond what I would would be able to speak to um what Icould speak to is that we did uh have conversations with the noreaster aboutexpanding their range um to include Southern Fridley so that was somethingthat I was in communication with the north Easter about um they are notmoving forward with that at this point um and the other piece of informationthat I'll share is that the life is weekly whereas the north Easter is everyother week uh which makes it a little bit challenging for us to getsome of the notifications in on time for that to be able to be posted um in apublication that doesn't have the frequency thank you thank you so much Iwas going to say that um because I know that this comes up um every year for usand um we you know we want to support a a small local business that is the norEaster is here um owned in Northeast Minneapolis um and yeah thebetween the distribution area and the lack of publication especially when itcomes to for those people at home um when it comes to when we have to postbids for things and provide notices that really is a barrier so yes and I amhappy to share that Ian rensler yay the the reporter that is here this eveningright before this meeting shared that he now has the education beat so uh he gaveto me cards that I'll give to Stephanie Alvarez to distribute to you um but hedoes have uh we've worked very closely on a number of Articles uh and he's verysupportive of uh covering our school district for which we're grateful um butnice to know also that he does specifically have education as a beat soI think that that's a benefit with the life as well wonderful thank you so muchand I will say that um over the years we've had a lot of um wonderful stafffrom the life that have been able to participate and be here so thank you somuch okayso um we had a motion was seconded so um if there's no more discussion we'll goto a vote all those in favor of designating the um the life thank you uhas our newspaper say I I opposed abstained motion carries okay guys we did itum be I'm gonna before we adjourn oh I can't I can't anything I can't I can'tdo the any other others all right well next time everybody um all right wellwith that the organizational meeting is concluded at 7:22
