[Music] hello and welcome to the city council update for December I'm Wally Weiss opel's city manager and here's what the council is up to in December they met on the 12th and the 18th this of this month and at the conference meetings they discussed the following items well first of all they interviewed candidates for commissions specifically the Planning Commission and they made a recommendation for a person to apply for the charter commission the city council doesn't appoint to the Charter commission that's done by the district judge and the city council also heard a presentation and report from the consultant who prepared the public art program for the city and they also heard an update from Anoka County on the Reconstruction of the 44th Avenue Bridge this is the one over the BNSF Rail Yard this is owned by enoka county and the construction is intended to start next December and will take one year the city council also had a presentation from Mike Mayer our park and recck director with regard to the use and rates for more Lake park building which will open up next year in the spring the city Council also heard a presentation from Mike with regard to rates for rentals of Park shelters for next year and then finally they heard a presentation from Mike and uh Skyler one of our Park and Recreation coordinators with regard to the lock Park improvements that are intended if you recall this is the park uh that the city has taken back from Anoka County and now the city is planning some programming and uh construction updates for that Park the city council at its regular meeting uh approved the 2024 general fund budget the tax levy and also the capital Improvement plan the city council also approved an interim use permit this is for Copart Auto Parts this is at 3737 East River Road this allows them to have an electric fence uh to uh keep uh perpetrators out of their yard and this city council agreed to participate in a class action lawsuit with regard to posos this is the contamination uh that has made its way into several Municipal Water uh treatment plants and the city will be participating in that uh to receive some remediation monies the city council also had a public hearing for the 2024 Street reconstruction project and afterwards the city council ordered the uh plans to be developed and they to go out to bids and then finally over at Springbrook the city council heard a and participated in a roundabout construction that Anoka County will be taking uh taking part in and this is to improve that intersection for safety purposes and it'll be a joint Powers agreement between Anoka County and the City of Fridley and then also Anoka County and the City of Fridley and the city of Rapids since it's a a border Pro uh border project that construction will begin next summer and that's the update for December thanks for tuning in I'm Wally weop city manager take care
