like the walking. >> This doesn't make any sense. I'm having a tough time following here. >> So, this is the first this one. Recite the pledge of allegiance if you choose. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. We'll start by I would certainly entertain a motion for the approval of the agenda with the suggested motions and resolutions. Do I have a motion? >> So move. >> Motion by Meiser. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> Second by Anna. All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> All those opposed. Motion passes. Uh next on our agenda, we have our superintendent report from Dr. Lewis. Dr. Lewis. Mike's yours. Thank you so much, chair. All right. I am so excited to firstly honor all of you schoolboard members. Um September is uh school board recognition month. And you've heard me say this before and I'll say it again. I just really appreciate um conversations like we literally just had the past two hours. How you ground your work and your core beliefs in the success and of every single student in our district. you continually ensure that our um students have the resources and we're also responsible to our public to be fiscally healthy and to use those resources in a manner that maximizes the students that we serve every day and we're honored to serve. you also do an amazing job of lobbying for um specific components that benefit all students in Minnesota and that are very specific to our learners here in Fidley Public Schools. So, we're so excited to honor you. Stay tuned to our social media because you will each get a spotlight as we push out um information to our public about you that's exciting and you've um done a really nice job of speaking to your commitments. what excites you about that. So, we're so excited to really feature you and those spotlights are coming in the next um several days here as we move forward. So, I'm so honored to work alongside of you and thank you for your commitment to each and every student that we serve in our district. It is now my absolute honor to call up Kennedy Johnson. You've heard me introduce her before. She is our student recruitment and retention specialist and she is going to share all the work that she has done and her plans for moving forward in our district. It will seem to you during this presentation like she's been here seven years, but I ask you to remember that this is just work she has started on July 1. So, we are so excited to welcome Coach Ken to present to us tonight. Welcome, Coach Ken. Hi, superintendent. This is Roelle. Um, Coach Ken is >> four minutes late. So, would you like me to give the um school-based mental health update right now? >> Knowing that I can't see um who's there. So, thank you for your grace in that. Yes, go ahead, please, Michelle. >> Great school mental health. Great news here that Michelle's gonna share. Yes. So, um, um, schoolbased mental health has been a passion of mine, uh, since early in my career, um, in education. Um, when I got to Fidley, I realized that, um, Fidley was having great difficulty with staffing, um, their school-based mental health. They had a partner in place, um, who was who was challenged with that. Um, when I got here, I worked with the state department as well as some agencies that I had known um, back in my time in my former district. Um, we actually got some of the grants changed, so they were able to come on board. Um, and so our new partner this year is Change, Inc. Um, I am so thrilled to have them here. they have a such a history of not only um student centered therapy but also real innovation. So if you know like you ever have like a um like a like I want to do this, you want to innovate on something, changing would always be the one I'd call and I'd say I've got a crazy idea, let's do this. Um so um I'm happy to report um today that all of our sites either have a full-time or halftime person uh based on their school size. So, we are fully staffed and we even have an intern at one of our other sites um at at Stevenson. So, we actually have more service. Um the schoolbased mental health, if you're not familiar with that, is a program where um students are able to receive therapeutic services within the school. Um this really helps us really take away barriers for students getting that so they don't have to worry about transportation. um were able to utilize different funding sources to get their therapy. Um our therapists um in times and change inc have a contract with us that no child will be turned away. So um I'm just looking forward as this um partnership with them continues to grow um and we'll continue to give you updates as we provide those services to our students. And now, superintendent, I'm going to transition to sit next to Coach Ken, and we will be ready in two seconds. Here we go. >> Good to see you, Coach Ken. Thanks for being here tonight. We're excited for your presentation. I already queued you up, so um you can start when you're ready. >> How are you? >> Well, hello everybody. It's an honor to be here and speak in front of all of you guys. My name is Kennedy Johnson and today I will be presenting the student belonging and data report sheet with you guys. Um so the four main buckets of success that um I will be focusing on this year will be academics, youth and recruitment and retention. Um this school year again my focus will center around the four key areas to strengthen the student experience here in FPS. While these areas will focus on all students, there will be a main emphasis on student activities and athletics as well. Um so the summer focus for the last three months and continued uh focus um I have developed a welcome letter and recruitment letter um for student athletes that are interested in coming into FBS. um analyzing student statistics, developing studentfamily questionnaire. Um I've attended a lot of great events and creating uh open communication with families and students. Um, so the student athlete data tracking that I've been doing over the past few months, I've collected targeted data and identified and addressed key challenges in impacting um, sorry, key challenge uh, challenges impacting our student athletes. Um, this includes the main four focuses that we started with uh, four key areas. >> Yeah, I was just going to say, do you mind if we jump in here together? But I think these act these um four areas are some that we're really focused in on that is really going to help our students u pinpoint how they can be more successful. But I really want you to take a moment to talk about demographics. >> Yeah. So um basically what I've been doing is understanding the background of our students um to better tailor support. Um, so the data allows us to pinpoint struggles early, implement focused interventions, and measure the impact of programs like the ROAR program that I'll speak to you guys about here in a second. Um, a I mean academics, athletics, and personal growth. Um, so we're going to, you know, make sure that they're on time for class, their academics meets the certain standard um that we've been implementing here at FPS. And just making sure that they understand academics and sports go hand in hand. Um, so a lot of the great events that I've been attending, I've been able to attend um 10 events, been able to utilize the business cards, um, utilizing those for quick conversations with incoming parents and incoming student athletes that are interested in coming here. Um, as well as we have been able to I've communicated with 10 student athletes and their families. As of uh last Wednesday, we have now four transfers that come from all different cities, walks of life that are now within our FPS school district that are loving it and are having a great time. And I continue, you know, I'm excited to continue the growth um and getting more student athletes in here. So, if you've ever been to any of our events and you see Coach Ken, constant networking, moving around, really talking to our athletes. Sweating. Yeah. >> Sweating, too. Yeah. Um and um I think >> Well, let's will be fun to talk about our um seven on seven middle school football game we had last week for homecoming. >> Exactly. Um so, youth and community are a big thing. Um families built on generations. I mean, Fidley has been built on generations of family here. Um, so been a part of our district for years and we must keep them here. Okay. So, while honoring our alum and their roots, we are also shaping the future of SPS by bringing past and present um together through strong yearround relationships in and outside of school. Um, so you know, just making sure that our alums still feel connected to the current and that our current also understand the alum and the roots that they have set here at FPS and the growth that we're going to go towards. >> Could you talk a little bit about why you think that student parent um, questionnaires are so important? >> Yeah. So, there is a student and parent questionnaire that I've put together and that is in the works. And I think it's just going to allow us the opportunity to hear a side of parents that we might have not heard before and also gives our students the opportunity to like we'll get to know them outside of sports while also in sports. So, we'll I'll be able to get to know their birth dates, what's their favorite hobbies, we'll do them and their parents like to do on and off um in school and just being able to bridge that gap that we might be currently having and then years to come that you know parents feel like there's open communication consistently and also the the students understand the direction and the drive that we're trying to go into. I think both of us being new to Fidley have understood how important alumni is to Fidley and that generational piece. So we want to keep that going and then create those new bonds for our new families too. >> Yeah. So the goal is just keeping Fidley families invested, connected, proud to stay in our district for generations to come. Okay. So the ROAR 180 program is something that I'm excited to talk to you guys about. Um, basically the ROAR 180 program at Fidley High School is designed to help students, athletes make a complete turnaround in academics, attendance, and personal accountability built on the belief that grades, attendance, and athletics go hand in hand. This program will use a system to meet athletes where they are and also guide them towards um lasting success. So again, we'll be tracking um their academics, their attendance, and just making sure they understand like, hey, we're setting you up for success now. So when you get into the real world, you'll be able to apply these certain tactics. Um communicating with their teacher. Some students don't think their teachers like them. So let's open up that communication and so the teacher understands from where the point of view you're coming from and vice versa. just, you know, giving the kids and the teachers an understanding that we're all trying to work towards a positive goal here. >> Okay. So, I've got to call you out just a little bit on this one cuz she makes it sounds like she just bought this somewhere and developed it, but really this is something that's come from your understanding about what our athletes need, how we can deal with that. This is going to happen during >> advisory and lunch period. So again, I'll be able to check with I have a list of 10 to 15 students that I'll check in with um twice a week. Um making sure again their attendance is up to date. Just opening that line of conversation. What's your favorite snack? What's your favorite movie? So that they understand I'm not just coming from them at a academic point of view. I honestly just care about them in a whole. So that that gives them the drive to want to go to class every day. it doesn't want they don't want to escape the fact that hey today might be a hard test but I know coach Ken will be there and we might be able to talk about it we might be able to go to our teacher later and figure out you did actually you did better than what you thought you did but giving them that aspect of success is in your view and um Rochelle has been helping me for the last three months of creating this so they'll go through three different tiers again we'll meet them where they are and then we'll help them succeed from there >> our hope is that these students can cycle out and the level of support can start to um fade and you know and the students can take more accountability so then we can service more students. So this is going to be a big um collaboration with our high school admin team so that we're making sure that the supports students are getting we're reaching the right students. So this will be we'll be kind of adding to that multi-tered systems of support we talked about at work session um through this program too. Um, so what we're looking forward to, again, the ROAR class just started on this Monday. Um, we cycled 10 students in and we'll be able to cycle every six weeks just checking in. If the students need to stay within the course, we'll make sure they stay in the course and understand it's not a punishment. This is just a t I mean a tool to help you, you know, through your steps. Um, possible shadow day for incoming students. um continued growth with incoming student athlete transfer, um connecting with middle school and elementary principles on partnerships for youth engagement and relationship building. Um because the youth is our future and we want to make sure that they feel just as important as our high school students do. Um and also there's so many more things that we are looking forward to. We did have a seven on seven homecoming event for the middle school students. We had a turnout of 35 kids. they loved it and they're excited to um hopefully get it again with um within the next few months. >> I think um when I think about this position and the work you've done, we know that when we look at the transition times from fifth from uh fifth grade onto sixth grade and from um our middle school to our high school, those are times that we're vulnerable for losing our students. And sometimes it's really hard when you think about staff who I either work at the middle school or I work at the high school. this unique position really allows you >> to look at that and and to be that kind of bridge for students of of what's coming on. So, it's just been such a pleasure to work with you and it's fun. I'm really excited to come back and share more about what we're what we're working on. >> Me as well. Thank you. >> Yeah. >> Awesome. >> Uh does anyone have any questions? >> I do. >> Good to see you, coach. >> Good to see you, too. Um, I love this idea of the ROAR 180. Thank you. >> Right. And it looks like it's being rolled out in high school. You're taking 10 kids. Relle, as you mentioned, I'm assuming once we lift those kids up, there might, you know, be a back fill there. Um, so a couple questions with that. Um, one, is there a minimum standard that we're looking at in order to participate in activities, athletics at the high school? Is it like a grade point average? Is it attendance? Is there any requirement? Honestly, I think that's still being built. I think Reese is still structuring that to understand again where we can meet our students. We have a lot of students that potentially may struggle, but then athletics is their sweet spot. So again, we're just trying to make sure that they understand, hey, yes, we understand this is your sweet spot, but also let's make academics your sweet spot as well. So I don't feel like >> I don't want to speak for Reese. There may be a criteria that I don't personally know as of right now, but I think that we're so open to figuring out how to make that criteria and then grow from there. >> For sure. Great idea. And >> I think it's also, if I can just add, I think it's also a struggle to set a criteria but not have the support there. So building out programs like this really help us to move students and hold students accountable but with high with high support for them also. So, I think we'll see the two kind of go hand in >> build that foundation first. >> And then any any I mean obviously we have we have you know athletes and people that are involved in activities at the middle school as well. >> Any plans to maybe have a point of contact whether it's you or running the same 180 program at the middle school? >> I would absolutely love to. Um, I think it would be trial and error right now and making sure we have the groundwork for high school and then potentially in the springtime connecting with principal Hson and then bringing that there. >> There'll be a lot of value once more. >> No, this is awesome. Like really, really exciting stuff. So, thank you for the presentation. >> Not a problem. Thank you for having me. I appreciate you guys. >> Yep. Thank you. >> See you later. >> See you. >> You mean you're not going to stick around? >> I would love to. >> No, I won. I won. Okay. Now, I'm excited to have Matt Hammer from our um financial adviser Ellers come forward to talk about our preliminary levy certification board. As you know, we preliminarily you all preliminarily set the levy in September and then final set at the December board meeting. So, Matt, welcome and we're so excited to have you. >> Thanks, Dr. Lewis. Um, Matthew Hammer, district's financial advisor, here to talk about where we're at in the preliminary levy process. And um, this process really starts um, from the for taxes payable 26 when property owners would have received their valuation notices um, from the county. Um, the department is in the process still right um, at this point of finalizing the levy certification reports for um, school districts across the state of Minnesota. And we did have some legislative changes that happened um as part of the last session that are impacting the levy calculation. So um as are our normal practice um school districts at this point in time are preliminarily certifying what we call the maximum um as part of their levy. And really what we're there's a most of the district's levy is going to be driven by enrollment assumptions and then statutory defined formulas. Um there is um part of that levy that obviously the voters have supported um for the district that are included in that and all of those levies we have vetted out at this point in time. Um but there is still numerous calculations as part of that process um that school districts still don't have finalized as the department is working through that process at this point in time. So with that, um, we will be asking for that preliminary certification of the levy at the maximum. That will allow all of those calculations to work their way through. Um, and um, all jurisdictions have to certify a levy by September 30th. Um, just to remind folks, this is uh, our estimates that will be um, used to generate revenue for the school district in fiscal 27. So, our fiscal year is a little different than cities and counties where they're looking at the next calendar year. We're actually estimating out um to the fiscal year um a year and a half out. Um so all all these estimates are being put together and then um we'll bring a final certification um to the board uh in December as part of the TNT presentation and then the board will take final action on certifying the levy that the county will spread to property owners in their final tax statements um in March. I will say that um just anecdotally, right, as we look at the levy, our overall levy is in um coming in where we're assuming it's going to be coming in, we still have to make some tweaks with the district um on some speci specific things and we might tweak our enrollment a little bit um as we look at where these our preliminary enrollments are coming in to start the year here as well. So, there's some things that um will still be updating and then that final um maximum levy will be uh taken by the county in Noa County and then those tax statements preliminarily will go out in November for property owners and then there'll be that truth and taxation hearing that all jurisdictions do that property owners can come and hear about the changes in the levy, but we're not going to expect any significant changes in the district's levy at this point in time. So, with that, I can answer any questions folks have. Um, again, um, this is normal, right, that we're going to certify a maximum. Um, we do this every year and school districts across the state are doing the same thing as you guys are going to be doing tonight. Awesome. Any questions for Matt? >> Well, seeing none as usual, Matt, appreciate your thoroughess and >> yes, laying it all out for us. Appreciate it. >> Yep. Yep. We'll see you probably uh well, we'll see. We'll we'll see you for sure in December. So, that's the plan. So, >> sounds good. >> Thanks, Matt. >> Matt, we really appreciate your dedication to Fidley Public Schools. So, thanks for your amazing work as always. I now am excited to share about Melissa Kidd, who is our new assistant principal starting October 1st at Fidley Middle School. As you recall, she was going to be an assistant principal hire at Vista and then our Get Ready Grant, which was awarded and funded, then not funded, now came back. Um, and as you heard, the work surrounding our Levvenia audit. Um, I'm just so excited to have Melissa's gifts and talents be at Fidley Middle School, um, where she'll be working obviously very directly on supporting our staff with that Levvenia audit work directly on supporting all of the get ready work. So board, we will have a get ready presentation both from our middle school and high school as we continue on this year. Just the work that's happening. Um, one example that I'll have of the that I have at the get ready is what our seniors did on their first day of school here. And they had um college day or post-secary day where there were institutions from all over that talked about different programs that are as uh quick as a six week certification to four-year degree program, tech programs, certifications, all of that. So that's just one example of work that you'll see um continuing at our high school at out of get ready and then really substantially expanding in our middle school at get ready. And then as I shared in our work session, very excited to have her stand up and really implement with support the multi-tered systems of um systems of supports that we will have at our middle school. in that work we will also be able to do um districtwide at our schools too. So just so excited and honored to have Melissa joining us. Melissa comes from um Intermediate School District 916. So she brings a lot of experience and wealth to us that we are just so excited to have. Next, I'm really excited to welcome Mark Mickelson who will be our safety and security director. His official retirement date is on Friday um from Fidley Police Department. He's had a very long career there. Uh he has also been an SRO in Fidley Public Schools. He is currently an SRO with 916, but he helps us out and supports us a lot. You've often seen him at our board sessions. You've seen him at various district events, football games, basketball games, etc. So Mark just brings such a deep love of Fidley, a lot of background about Fidle's public schools. And the way that I explain also to individuals is as an educator, I'm very much trained in safety and security, but my profession is education, right? My start in education was as a first grade teacher. Mark thinks in safety as his first thought and just he hasn't even started with us and some of the um or the insights he is bringing has been just phenomenal and um I'm just really looking forward to having this component of safety and security tightened up in our school system and I think probably all school systems across the state especially given the recent events at annunciation I think we all feel the same. So I feel like a much um better superintendent with Mark on board and it gives me a different level to a feeling as a mom of three in our district. So Mark is taking a very long amount of time off. Like I said, Friday is his last day at the PD and then he's starting with us Wednesday. So he's taking just two days off and we're so excited to have him join us. I'm thrilled to now share with you about homecoming. Um, and I know you've seen um, some of this likely on our social media in the superintendent update, etc. So much that happened. I'll capture just a little bit of it. Um, but there was so much school spirit all the way from our youngest learners to our high school students and beyond and our staff as well. Um, we had dress up days, special events, also the Fidley pep band, which I think many of you saw that um, and commented on that to me over at Hayes and Stevenson. So much school spirit that they had. And who doesn't want to get off their bus or walk to school or out of the car um, to being welcomed in that way by our pep band. And it also kind of speaks a little bit to what coach Kin and Michelle are talking about tonight about how our youngest learners are able to see students that are active in activities and inspiring them. So that was just so exciting to see that and that was on backtoback days. Um we also had the usual fun at the high school pepfest. Um can students competed in their spirit stick contest. Our robotics team rolled out the royalty announcement with their robot. Congratulations um to our seniors, Madison and um Piti, who were crowned this year's homecoming queens. So, we're so excited for those. I think I can't see the screen, but Lori has a super adorable picture of them. So, hopefully that's up. And um we also were so excited to honor our Fidley Police Department. They have also always been so supportive. Um they've as I've messaged out been uber diligent with um the happenings that are happening both on a national level and then with the school shooting and annunciation. Um so we had a just a wealth of patrol there. Our SRO team. So you I'm assuming you're seeing their cute pictures and then what their cute picture what we had is what they're holding is a personalized football with their name on it and then a personalized thank you card from me. So it was really good. And then when patrol came they received um a cookie and a card as well. We were a little surprised because um the footballs came over perfect and then our fridly F was green. So, we are not changing to green, but Lori was so sad to show that to me and I'm like, it's okay. So, we had a little green in our Fidly F on um Friday, but we were excited. We also had our announcement for the Lions. So exciting. Lori sent me that video honoring them and of course they were there with their meal deal and just that pride that we have there too. Um we had an amazing football game um with an amazing sunset for those of you that were there. I was able to see that and um we had a a great blowout. So 36 to zero. I was terrified about that rain because you know our scoreboard doesn't like rain. So, I was very worried about that, but it held out and we didn't have a scoreboard failure. So, I call that a victory. So, very excited. Um, so with that, I will move on to our next portion of the superintendent update. And, um, Lori, I'll just front this a little bit and then we'll play the video. Um, as you know, we have talked a lot in our district about educational benefits. So, what I mean by that is we have the educational benefits application where students um we ask for families to fill that out and then students qualify through their families on um free and reduced lunch. And you think to yourself like I thought that we had universal meals um free for students, which we do, but there's so many other things that come from that that students have um reductions. While activities fees are free now in our district, they are um other organizations actually ask for verification that families have qualified for free and reduce lunch. So then community partners can reduce or offer um for free to our students various um activities and so forth. As we're also keenly aware, compensatory education dollars are funded one-year delay on our educational benefits at current time. As we know, uh without legislative action, um this is going to go away with the form or has gone away with the form qualification and it's just direct certification. I would be remiss if I said I don't want us to keep doing the forms because of that. But in fact, I do because that still um showcases that need that we have in our district. And the final thing that I'll say here before I queue up the video is we are seeing very strong percentage numbers around direct certification. And I have been nervous about that. I've been watching it. but just the amount of um percentage of our students that we have last week. Relle gave me that percent and we're I think at the same level that we reached last year in total for direct certification. So I am feeling a bit better about that. As you know, I will not feel my best until the compensatory ed workg groupoup comes up with a long-term solution versus just continuing to make these short-term fixes so that districts like ours can really um be able to be planful about those compensatory dollars. And just as one final reminder, that's $6.8 million annually for our district that is at stake. So it's um certainly not something that we shy away from. A different way to put that is 10% of our budget. So it's not something that is not substantial. We have done something um very uh different this school year where we have really worked to um get school pride in getting our forms completed. Obviously, um students that are direct certified can um families already count in this. So, we're just working on families that don't come through the direct certification. So, you're about to see the fun. And you um probably saw this video rolled out on our social media, but you'll see the fun spin that we're taking. And so, David, I'm ready for the video. >> Hi, I'm Principal Iverson. >> Hi, I'm assistant principal Greg. >> And both of us are from Hayes Elementary School. We are excited to share an important announcement with you >> that if we meet our goal, we're going to have a >> giraffe out. >> I'm Veronica Matthysse, the principal at Stevenson. And I'm Abby Jensen, the assistant principal at Stevenson. If we reach our goal, we're going to go on the roof and greet scholars in the morning. And we will have music of blaring. We can do this, Stevenson. Let's go. >> Hey, Fley Middle School. Principal Herson here. I want to let you know once we reach our goal, I will wear a mullet wig for a full day. Go Tigers. >> Hello, Fidley High School students and staff. I pledge to wear a wig. If as a school and as a community we can come together and get 70% of our educational benefits paperwork turned in at Frivy High School. Again, I promise we get 70% of our educational benefits completed, they'll be wearing a wig, and it's pretty amazing. So get those in. Let's go Tigers. >> Hi everyone. My name is Mr. E over at Vista Education Center and if we meet our goal, I will bleach my hair. >> Good morning. I'm Afalabi Rushway here at the Frley Community Center joined by >> I'm Karen Beexter. I'm the preschool coordinator. >> Yeah. And we're here to talk about our educational benefits competition. Um once we hit our goal here at the early childhood center, um we're gonna have Gerard de Goose. >> This is Gerard. He will come visit your classroom for 48 hours. >> Yes, he's looking to get out the office. He's excited. So, like I said, once we hit our goal, we will have Gerard visit your classroom. We're excited. Um we know we're going to hit our goal. So, he's going to be out for quite a while, probably a couple weeks visiting classrooms. Have a great day. We're excited. So, we're excited about this extra layer of motivation and um excitement for our students. So, I'm excited to see that hopefully all of our principles are able to deliver on um what they want to deliver on. So, so excited about that. Next, I'm really honored to share that Fidley Public Schools has been selected to host an AVID superintendent collaborative. So, this is really an avid event, but it's showcased in our district. So, this is on November 19th, and it's superintendent um really from across the metro and probably even a little bit beyond that have AVID in their district. And it's a time for us to all connect and AVID um staff will be there too just to have honest conversations about how is it working in our districts, what are our strong points, what are our areas of struggle, funding, just a really organic discussion about where we are as superintendents. Then really talking about how is that Minnesota specific? What are we seeing? what are we facing as Minnesota superintendents? Also learning from each other through that lens of shared expertise, time to network. Um, so as superintendents, we get together in different forums, but this will be the first time that I have gotten together with Minnesota AVID superintendent in isolation, if that makes sense. So, so excited about that. And um, just a nice environment. It's not a conference. It's not national conference where there's, you know, 60,000 people or um summer institute where there's tens of thousands of people there. This is just an intimate setting where we're able to have that casual atmosphere and really connect. So, it's just quite an honor that AVID has selected us to be a host. And I'm really excited about all of the attendance. And again, this is marketed out through AVID. So, I really expect that we'll see a lot of superintendents uh visiting Fidley that day. The next piece board that I wanted to talk with you about, Lori, can you click on that delegate assembly link that's hyperl there too? So, board, I'd ask us to really think about having representation at that delegate assembly through MSBA. We talked about this last year. we were um a little bit late to the game is what I'm going to say on that. Um so there's a video there um that talks about the delegate assembly. Lori, it's the third video down if you just want to showcase that one. Yes. Um I thought that was good. It's like a five minute watch. I would like us to consider watching that as board members. This is really a board action. Um MSBA just put out uh more information about this today. Um something for you to consider. I do want to just speak personal, local, and immediate. Our delegate assembly is comprised of districts that um are regionally around us. I also want to say that the delegate assembly is who comes together and puts together the MSBA legislative um agenda. So this is a huge um influential group. back to the districts that are in our geographic area assigned um to our delegate assembly area. They don't all have the same core values, mission, and purpose as Fidley public schools. Um so I think it's very important that our board considers um looking into potentially this delegate delegate assembly and um those pieces. Chair, I'm not gonna really go into it that much more. Uh, unless there's anything you think you want me to elevate here, >> I think you covered it. Maybe we can um I I would just encourage uh individuals on the board to become a delegate. I did it gosh, I think it was maybe 3, four years ago. It was a pretty good experience, but it really highlighted the disparities, if you will, of a lot of the opinions of the delegates versus how they align with our core values. So, it certainly be nice to have a a voice at the table. So, if anyone's interested, highly encourage. >> Thanks, chair. >> Updates. Um, and we have updates as available here from our northeast um, Metro 916, Northwest Suburban and AMSD. And I know that not all board members have updates, but this is just that opportunity to get them if you have them. And Avana, I think your meeting's not until tomorrow night, but if anyone wants to share, please um, move forward with that. >> Sarah, do you have something from 9:16? >> Awesome. Thank you. Um so we had our meeting uh two weeks ago and we had kind of a couple big action items that happened. We had a presentation um from our um lead social worker from 9:16 and the presentation she gave was it was with in combination with other um staff members but it was every student every day safeguarding student well-being and safety and it was um very well timed or very not well timed um in terms of the events that have happened in the state um but it was discussing the plan for their behavioral threat assess assessment um and management and their suicide risk risk assessment of their students. They've been moving forward with a lot of research based work to really make sure that they have the best plans in place um to care very well for their students and staff and to keep their um the people in their programs uh safe. Um so that was the first part. We had um our presentation on enrollment and staffing for the year. And um some solutions have been actioned to maybe realign some programming and um put some staff in different places within 916 to help to open up weightless spots um as they maximize the capacity of their spaces to be able to fit in students um and serve as many students as they can. Then we had our comprehensive assessment and civic readiness plan um where they defined the goals for the year. We um had a couple of policies that went through u most of them were on legislative changes. So they were um moved through in just one reading and then we approved the superintendent evaluation and the strategic actions and benchmarks for this school year. And that was our meeting at 9:16. >> Awesome. Thanks, Sarah. >> Yep. >> Uh, and I do not have a report. I was unable to, uh, attend the AMSD meeting. And then you haven't met yet. >> Tomorrow. >> Tomorrow. Perfect timing. >> So, I think that's it for the board updates. Dr. Lewis, >> so much. And, um, just to dovtail off of you, um, also chair, the AMSD updates, we also put in the superintendent update on those Fridays. AMSD is the first Friday of the month. I also push out for any board members to attend virtually or in person. Um Amd I continue to be so impressed with the work that they're doing especially around lobbying and advocacy. Um and then as you know when there's um pieces that I really want or would love for board members to be at, I'll push that out separately to say hey can you um plan to attend this? So thanks for that update. Next, I am excited to talk about our tackle cancer night. So, please join us as we work to tackle cancer. I think the shorts this year are so cute. Um, September 26, home game, 600 p.m. versus Totino Grace. We know that game will not be without excitement, so that'll be super exciting. Shirts are $10. Um, so very affordable, very cute. Pink's my favorite color, as you can tell. So, just excited about that. Also, quick reminder, we also take Apple Pay. Um, so that's very easy for our students, our families to just tap and then um they can purchase that as well. So, so excited for September 26th. Um, Lori, I am feeling like I was supposed to ask the board something about who could attend something and now I can't remember what that was. >> Um, we visit Yes. Okay. School board. Um Lori, can you remind me about the date of that IB visit? >> I don't I don't remember off the top of my head. >> We'll get it to them. >> Yes. So, board, we um IB would love to see board chair Carnob at that IB visit as well as um a few other board members. So, I just wanted to pump up when Lori sends that invitation out. I would appreciate it if you would strongly consider it. It's not um too rigorous. I think it'll be interesting, but it's for our ongoing accreditation authorization through Fidley Community Center. Lori, thanks for that prompt. And chair, I'm done with the superintendent update. Thanks for the time tonight. >> Thanks, Dr. Lewis. And I'll go as long as we can hear Oh, I say hear Lori talk more as that feedback was pretty phenomenal. >> Um, awesome. Thanks, Dr. Lewis. So, next up on the agenda, we have our business action items. Of course, we heard from uh Matt Hammer. Uh so, I would entertain a motion to uh accept the levy certification at least in the preliminary stages. >> I move that we accept the preliminary levy certification. >> Motion made by Meisner. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> Second by Anna. All those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. >> All those opposed. Motion carries. Um, next up I have I would entertain a motion for the second reading and adoption of policy 516.5 specific to overdose medication. And do I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Motion by Jones. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> Second by Stark. Uh, all those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> All those opposed. >> Motion passes. Uh, next up we have the consent agenda. I would entertain a motion to approve the consent agenda which today includes our meeting minutes, new contracts, amendments, leave of absence, resignations, retirements, and terminations. Do I have a motion? >> So move >> motion by Shriner. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> Second by Jones. All those in favor, please, please signify by saying I. I. >> All those in favor? >> Motion passes. Uh lastly, we have um some important dates. A lot of important dates. Thank you, Lori. I should ask you should really read these from there.
