[Music] hello and welcome to the city council update for April I'm Wally Weiss Opel city manager the city council met on the 8th and the 22nd at the conference meeting which precedes the regular city council meeting the city council received some updates from from monoka County and our city engineering department with regard to the Mississippi Street and Central Avenue roundabout that project will be uh being planned for next year we had a critical incident mitigation deescalation rescue vehicle proposal from our Public Safety department this was considered by the city council and uh the city council also received an update from our rental inspection program and our community development director Scott hiof Joe Starks our finance director provided an update on our city finances for the quarter and also presented council with a outlooks and objectives for our 2025 budget now the city council just uh completed last year's budget and now we start working on next year's budget and the city council also discussed options with regard to Anoka County for islands of Peace regional park at the regular meetings the city council approved several Grant agreements for environmental improvements and this has uh with three Watershed districts the Mississippi watershed management organization The Rice Creek Watershed district and another one with the Mississippi watershed management District well over a million and a half dollars were provided in Grants to provide improvements to the city's storm water projects throughout the city the city council also approved a liquor license for the continental restaurant located on Osborne Avenue near Highway 65 and then the city council approved a a change to our Charter that was recommended by our Charter commission they held a first and second reading and those changes will have to do with some technical Corrections and language improvements only no real content changes for the name and boundary powers in the construction of the city government the city council uh established a public Arts commission now about a year ago the city hel held several meetings with regard to the potential of doing public art within the city and it was recommended that the city council approve a park a public Arts commission and to advise the city council with regard to possible public art programs the city council then approved several members to that commission and that takes effect immediately the city council approved a park bench uh donation and sponsorship guidelines so now residents and businesses are able to take advantage of purchasing a park bench and have it placed within the various parks and trails within the city the city council authorized a grant of um easements for Anoka County in order to con perpetuate The Rice Creek West Regional Trail through lock Park so the city took back ownership of lock Park and these uh Grant of easements will allow the Regional Trail to continue through lock Park the city council then approved the Reconstruction project for our streets for 2025 or 202 4 and also the uh improvements for our Parks we're going to be rehabilitating three Parks as a continuation of our Park Improvement program that was the update for April thanks for tuning in look forward to seeing you in may take care
