[Music] hello and welcome to the city council update for October I'm Wally Weiss Opel city manager the city council met on the 9th and the 23rd and at their conference meetings they discussed the more Lake Park updates they actually toured the facility along with the park and the improvements at the roundabout at Gardina and Central Avenue and then the city council got back together at City Hall for an update on utility rates so our finance director Joe Stark provided an update to the city council on the needs for the utilities and the rate increases that will be necessary for January on the 9th the city council held a special meeting and this was held at six at 6:00 in order to discuss any potential assessment appeals that might take place as a result of abatements that have taken place at City at properties now abatements are when uh the city actually has to have the work done such as mowing lawns removing garbage and Outdoor Storage after a period of time when the property owner has failed to do so no one attended that meeting and therefore the assessments were upheld at the regular meeting the city Council adopted assessments for the street reconstruction project for 2023 this and also they did uh the assessment for 53rd Avenue roundabout this is over by the Target um store the city council also approved a change order for the West Mo Lake Road uh reconstruction that was done this past summer and then the 61st Avenue parklet was approved now this is at the 61st in University a vacant lot that had gone tax forfeited and the city was able to secure a grant from the NOA County for $700,000 to make improvements to this uh little Park area and it'll also serve as a Transit hub for folks uh who will be walking riding their bikes and taking the bus that was the city council update for October thanks for tuning in and we'll see you in November
