The school board voted 6-0 to accept gifts from Cup Foods and QuikTrip totaling school supplies, apples, gift cards, and $100 in cash for the Early Childhood Education program and Fall Festival. The board also unanimously approved an application to the Minnesota State High School League Foundation for a grant designed to help offset student activity fees and increase participation in school activities.

In a third unanimous vote, the board approved consolidating polling places at the Fridley Community Center for school district elections that don't coincide with statewide, county, or municipal elections. The board also approved a consent agenda containing routine administrative items including September meeting minutes, financial reports, new contracts, staff leaves of absence, resignations, and terminations.

The meeting focused heavily on the November 5 referendum, which would ask voters to approve an operating levy increase of $424 per pupil—generating $1.65 million annually—and a $30 million facility bond. According to district leadership, the operating levy is needed to maintain current programs and class sizes as inflation outpaces state funding. The facility bond would address deferred maintenance, safety upgrades, and renovations across all district buildings without increasing property taxes, since existing debt is being paid off.

The board also heard updates on ongoing construction projects, including middle school office remodels, a district-wide bathroom renovation starting at the high school to add gender-neutral and single-use facilities, and window replacements at the Community Center. The district highlighted recent athletic achievements, including the soccer team's advancement to state quarterfinals and Coach Morales being named section coach of the year. Students also performed a preview of the high school musical "Ur in Town."
