The Superintendent's Report, Dr. K. - All right thank you, Chair Thompson. The district recentlymailed the mayor's update to all district residents. The full page postcardis sent to residents at the end of each academic year. Included in this year's issue are highlights on district graduations and the retirement celebration. In addition to notice of freesenior activities, passes, and updates on our district-wideconstruction projects. We are recently notified that the district was awarded National Honors from the National SchoolPublic Relations Association. The district's 2023 Annual Update, Bears Bulletin Flip-Book tothe Community Services Catalog and the 23-24 Activities Calendar were all given awards of Merit. And the Embracing ChangeConvocation Address, Community e-Newsletter, and The Week in 62.4 Seconds video series received Awards of Excellence,which is the highest rating or honor give by this organization. So hat's off Marissa,for all the great work. We've enjoyed seeing students, families, and community members at this fun market fest summertime tradition. New this year was the districtsponsorship of the week and Orange Out takeover of 4th Street, which we expect will continueto be an annual tradition. Please continue to find usThursdays at the district's booth on 3rd Street each Thursday through July and pick up a penciland a Bear paw tattoo. White Bear Lake AreaSchools Nutrition Services is sponsoring free summermeals for kids and teens at several locations in the district. Find more information suchas serving times and sites, as a news item on the district's website. The meals are open to allchildren age 18 and younger, the program has no enrollmentrequirement and no cost. And the healthy meals are based on USDA nutrition guidelines. We continue to hire forthe 24-25 school year. We need substitute teachers,bus drivers, paraeducators, extended day and nutritionservices, staff members, licensed school nurses, and more. I think in fact, they'reall relatively routine and we do these each year so it may seem that we're going throughthem relatively quickly, but that's the reason is they're routine action items in July. So the first one is our membership renewal to the Minnesota State High School League. So each year, White Bear Lake Area Schools is required to approve theresolution to renew with... To renew the White Bear LakeArea High School's membership, and to the MinnesotaState High School League. Each school board member has reviewed the "Why We Play" training video that we're required to view. Plus they build relationships that they're gonna keepfor a lifetime of Bears. And so it really is something that I feel helps ourstudents come to school, helps them learn, helps them have fun, helps them do something, and it really buildsownership in our building. So I can't speak highly enoughof the high school league and how important it is for our students. And it's every student, I'mnot talking about the top line, you know, the greatest, thebig starters that are the best, but also that last personthat comes off the bench, it's important to them too,as they learn these skills so I support this a hundred percent. - Great thank you, Dr. Newmaster? - And I like all the differentactivities it supports. That was the recommendedaction, so we won't repeat that. But again, this is anannual approval item. Intermediate District 916has established a budget of $467,100 for the coming year. And then member districtspay a proportionate share and that's determined by utilizing a blended rate based on net tax capacity and a ratio of studentutilization by the district. So our share is that amount,that was read $43,056. So each July we act on our10 year facilities plan and if you look through it, you can see that the first two or threeyears are fairly well detailed and then a lot of placeholders beyond that but this is a good budget. This is a budgeting document for us as we prepare for that long-termplanning on our facilities. And again like I said,this is a requirement that we project out those 10 years and we bring this to you, sometimes it's more than once a year. Sometimes we modify it whenwe issue bonds for example, but generally we always do it in July. So the recommended actionis to approve the 10 year long-term facilitiesmaintenance plan as presented. - All right, you've heardthe recommended action. So then Minnesota Department of Ed requires that schooldistricts annually designate an identified official with authority, that's the IOwA acronym, to comply with enterprise identity and access management standard. So essentially we'reapproving and certifying, and re-certifying folks who have access to data on the Departmentof Education website. So the recommended action is to approve Wayne Kazmierczak, Superintendent and Rachael Markuson, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent to add... Rachael's role is to addand remove names only so she helps manage that site for us. So as White Bear Lake Area Schools identified officials withauthority as required by the Minnesota Department of Education. The recommended actionwas a little convoluted 'cause I explained Rachael's role. It's basically you'reapproving Rachael and I, in this capacity withthis recommended action. - [Chair Thompson] Okay you'veheard the recommended action.
