[music] So here today at uh Rum River Library, we've got my co-orker Chenise giving a training about how to use Narcan, also known [music] as Nlloxxone. Nlloxxone is a medication that's available to anyone in the state of Minnesota [music] over the counter without a prescription that can be used to reverse an opioid overdose. [music] It's a life-saving tool. Um the use of Nlloxxone, opioid overdose is something that is all too common in our communities. >> [music] >> um once every 9 minutes someone in the United States will die of an opioid overdose and Nlloxxone is one of the tools that we have to [music] reduce those numbers and keep ourselves safe. So I'm a community trainer and so is my co-orker Chenise. [music] Um we're certified by Steve Brumler Hope Network but we're with Neighborhood Health Source Clinic. We're four community [music] clinics. Um, we've got three in Minneapolis and one in Rapids. And we see people of all ages with or [music] without health insurance for primary care. Um, we can help people [music] apply for insurance and we have a sliding fee scale in case people don't qualify. So, we're really [music] just all about bringing healthcare to people um, with as few barriers as possible. We have a number of free programs and our [music] community health workers can help people navigate resources um such as SNAP, such as [music] food uh shelves in the area and all kinds of other community resources. We also have multilingual staff and interpreters. [music] So, especi [music] network. That's who we partner with to give out supplies. There's a nasal route which is the same as [music] giving someone like a cold spray through their nose or there's a interuscular [music] route which is the same as giving someone a flu shot. So with the right training which [music] is just about an hour uh here today folks will hopefully walk out and be ready to [music] save a life. There's no side effects to nlloxxone and the risk of an allergic reaction is 1 [music] in 10,000. So that compared with the protections that Steve's law offers us, there's really no [music] reason not to use Nlloxxone. Yeah. So same thing, Steve Rumler Hope Network. Um, also libraries both in Anoka County and in [music] Henipin County have regularly scheduled Narcan trainings. So you can check on your libraries website to see if they've got any coming up.
