two thank you for coming and helping us with this uh groundbreaking today for a new addition to this park that will benefit uh NOA County employees and residents for years to come this beautiful facility here is about 60 years old and has uh lived its life and it's at the end of its life now uh since it was built it's never been occupied or staffed year round we needed to build a facility that would adequately house staff for from both the parks and Sheriff's Department including all their essential equipment and be large enough to store up to six of the highway Department's plow trucks the addition of this new facility will also help alleviate storage issues at the highway facility in Andover the building will be occupied year round providing much needed full-time support to the Northeast portion of Anoka County our county is growing so are our County departments and there and so are their needs needs we are here today to celebrate the changes to our physical operations to meet those needs today marks the be beginning of that transition thank you again for being part of this Milestone I've been following this project closely for quite some time and I can tell you that this facility is a vast Improvement and will strengthen the support services for Regional Parks trails and facilities in the Northeast quadrant of inoka County the planned welding Center wash bay General Main maintenance and repair areas will play a crucial role in supporting safe and efficient park operations the workstations will be clean safe uh temperate and will be an asset and a nice facility for our workers to work in this facility uh specifically will be a key resource for the sheriff's office as it will be used in part to support our Public Safety mission in this part of the county and it will provide much needed substation space we'll have a modern facility here where we can park our marked Patrol units inside the building we'll have office space for our deputies to work and it will supplement some of the other substations we have in the nearby cities wanted to take a quick quick moment to thank the elected and appointed officials that continue to support our mission um for Public Safety here at inoka County and our partners at parks and transportation for helping keep our counties and Parks safe currently right now with the Highway maintenance department which we plow over 1600 Lane miles throughout inoa County we have three stations which is our Bunker Lake facility we have a St Francis facility and we have soon to be our new Lake facility at this Lake like commissioner jeffson said we will house six operators out of this facility and one of the key things that's so important to us is the ability to store Salt and this year is a prime example everybody else is having problems with salt storage where an NOA County here we have plenty of storage to house our commitment with the state on how much salt we order this year uh we're very excited to see this project come together and I want to thank our partners who worked on the planning and design of this new facility the new Transportation Parks Maintenance building will undoubtedly be an asset to our staff at the highway department parks department and Sheriff's Office along with communities in our area thank you
