This year, because of the Kern Bridge construction, we want to highlight that project during the conference. The conference will be held on July 29-30 in the Ellerbe Room of the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center. ## Heritage Preservation Commission 5. 2. ## Meeting Date:06/11/2026 ## Title ## 2026 City of Mankato Project Updates ## Review ## Kern Bridge: Overall, construction is progressing well. All the major bridge concrete construction is complete. The historic Kern bridge has finished refurbishing and has been successfully delivered back to Mankato. Bridge ironworkers are busy assembling the bridge, which could take upwards of 6 weeks. Once assembled, it will be lifted into place, after which the remaining railing and lighting work will be completed. The final operation will be the connecting of the bridge to the paved trails within LOM and Sibley Parks. The project completion date is this fall. Menari Body Works: 121 E. Cherry St. An exterior remodel is underway to add a parapet to the building. The colors will match the building and Cherry Square Apartments. Barkhadle Grocery Store: 725 S. Front St. A request has come across for a storefront upgrade to include new awnings, stucco, and doors. They are required to submit for a Certificate of Design Compliance. ## Heritage Preservation Commission 6. 1. ## Meeting Date:06/11/2026 ## Title ## July 2026 Notice ## Review There will be no meeting in the month of July 2026. Tony and Brittany will be attending FORUM 2026, the national historic preservation conference. We will provide an update at the August 2026 meeting.
