Don't ignore the chirp! When a smoke alarm beeps, it's trying to tell you something important. Make sure that you test you alarms regularly, replace dead or dying batteries, replace smoke alarms every 10 years and combination smoke and CO alarms every 5-7 years.

[0:15] mean it has a low battery three chirps
[0:18] can indicate a malfunction five chirps

[0:23] the end of its lifespan make sure to
[0:26] test your alarms monthly and replace the
[0:28] alarms every 10 years if it's a
[0:31] combination smoke and carbon monoxide
[0:34] detector they typically only last 5 to
[0:37] seven years
