Staff have already moved into the new City Hall building and begun operations. A brief ribbon cutting ceremony will take place outside the new council chambers on September 22nd, followed by a more extensive public open house on November 1st where residents can tour the facility.

The new Senior Center, located inside City Hall, will not open all at once. Instead, the city is planning a phased opening with programming beginning in early October after final preparations are completed. This gradual approach allows staff to ensure all services are ready before welcoming seniors.

The city is also relocating its utility payment dropbox. The old dropbox at the previous City Hall building is no longer in use. A new drive-up dropbox will be installed at the new City Hall, and residents can find information about interim payment methods on the city's website.

Beyond the new building, the city is moving forward with Phase Two of the Civic Campus project, which will transform City Center Park north of City Hall into a vibrant downtown gathering space. The project includes a playground, splash fountain, and performance stage, with completion expected in 2026.

The council also highlighted upcoming community events, including the Barnyard Boogie on September 19th at the Chanhassen Rec Center, Wellness Week, an Allstar Day Off day camp for kids, and a Halloween costume swap scheduled for one month out. These events offer residents opportunities to engage with their community as the city settles into its new civic home.
