Chanhassen Adds Robotic Equipment for Park Maintenance
The city of Chanhassen introduced two new robotic devices to assist with park maintenance operations, according to a community update released Thursday.
The equipment includes a robotic lawn mower nicknamed "Sod Solo" and an athletic field striping robot called "Luke Stripe Walker," said Drew Zarovski, a city employee who demonstrated the devices. The robots are designed to help staff complete routine tasks more efficiently, freeing up time for specialized maintenance and improvements throughout the park system.
Separately, the popular corn vendor known as "Bird" will relocate from his current location due to construction for the future Roars development project. The vendor will move to West 78th Street in the Colonial Shopping Center, just a few blocks from his previous spot.
The city also announced it maintains an online interactive map to help residents track fiber optic cable installation progress in their neighborhoods. The map allows residents to enter their address for current updates and restoration details, and includes a frequently asked questions section about the installation process.
City officials said they plan to continue providing weekly community updates.
