Chanhassen Installs New Pedestrian Safety Crossing
Chanhassen has installed a new pedestrian crossing safety improvement on Kerber Boulevard across from City Center Park, city officials announced during Thursday's weekly community update.
The crossing represents a low-impact, cost-effective strategy designed to slow traffic at high-volume pedestrian crossings, according to the city. Similar safety improvements will be installed at additional locations around town in the coming weeks.
The announcement came during the city's weekly check-in, which was broadcast from the public works facility in recognition of Public Works Appreciation Week. City officials used the opportunity to highlight the department's role in making Chanhassen "cleaner, safer and stronger."
Several community events are scheduled for the coming week. Chanhassen Public Works will host a free paper shredding day on May 17, allowing residents to bring up to four boxes of paper for disposal. The Chanhassen Fire Department will conduct a hands-on CPR class on May 21.
The city also announced that residents can learn about a proposed roundabout outside Minnitanka Middle School West during an information session Thursday evening at the Chanhassen Recreation Center from 5 to 6:30 p.m. A flash vote survey on the topic will be available soon through flashvote.com.
