Chanhassen Offers Virtual Tour of New City Hall

Meeting date: Nov 4, 2025
Published Nov 14, 2025

Chanhassen's communications department released a virtual tour of the city's new city hall building for residents who missed the November 1st open house. The tour, led by communications staff member Drew, showcases the modern facility's departments, amenities and accessibility features.

The new building houses an expanded senior center that logged over 11,000 visits in 2024 at its previous location. The facility includes a main room, kitchen, conference room and maker space that serves as home to the Wednesday Wood Carvers and Chan Jammers music group. The senior center recorded more than 8,000 participants in games, creative arts and group activities last year.

City departments are consolidated throughout the building, including a centralized service desk for utility payments and permit applications. The building department, finance office, city clerk, parks and recreation, and law enforcement offices operated by the Carver County Sheriff's Office are located on the main floor. Upper level offices house fire and IT departments, community and economic development, water resources, engineering, and administration.

The council chambers feature improved seating, lighting and integrated broadcast technology with overflow seating areas. The facility includes new amenities not available in the previous building, such as a dedicated staff break room and wellness room for employee use. A handwoven fiber artwork by artist Rebecca Whitaker depicting the city's map is displayed near the reception desk.

The building incorporates sustainability features including solar panels on the roof, which the communications department plans to highlight in an upcoming feature story. The facility also includes a parking garage for city fleet vehicles and sheriff's office squad cars.
