The City of Chanhassen released an educational video detailing the construction phase of its Pavement Management Plan, providing residents with a comprehensive overview of how road rehabilitation projects are executed from start to finish.

The construction process begins with pre-construction meetings between stakeholders, contractors, city engineers and utility companies to discuss project schedules, materials and potential conflicts. Contractors then mobilize by setting up construction sites, establishing temporary traffic control measures and bringing in necessary equipment and personnel.

Depending on the rehabilitation method selected, crews prepare work sites by removing debris and vegetation, implementing erosion control measures and marking existing utilities. Major underground utility work is completed first when required, followed by road core work designed to keep neighborhoods as accessible as possible throughout the process.

The city emphasized that quality control and assurance checks occur throughout construction to ensure work meets project specifications and industry standards. Once new pavement is placed, sites are cleaned up and final inspections are conducted before the city officially accepts completed projects and warranty agreements take effect.

Residents can expect lane closures, detours, noise and dust during construction, though contractors work to minimize disruptions. The city noted that any damage to utilities, irrigation lines or invisible dog fences receives high priority repairs at no cost to property owners.
