The Golf Zone in Chanhassen offers golfers a unique year-round practice facility with heated stalls in winter and fan-cooled areas in summer, according to owner Brian Culvin during a recent episode of 'The Local' economic development program.

Culvin, who previously worked in commercial construction for over 20 years, purchased the business after being a regular customer. He said he discovered the facility was closed one day and contacted the previous owner about purchasing it to continue operations with improvements.

The driving range features Top Tracer technology, which uses cameras to track golf balls and provide statistics including distance, spin rate and carry distance. The facility also offers virtual golf with access to 26 courses worldwide and hosts men's and women's leagues during winter months.

Culvin said the business supports the local community through donations and distributing free mini-golf cards to local businesses, typically providing five to 10 free rounds per business. He noted the facility maintains stall temperatures between 75 and 85 degrees during winter months.

The business owner said September through early November represents slower periods due to football season and golfers playing final outdoor rounds. He encouraged residents to use the facility during fall months to continue practicing while enjoying outdoor conditions.
