## Present: Vice Chairperson Carlson, Commissioners Sandison, Haanan, Mee,
## McClosky, Youth Representative Haga, and City Staff Elise Durbin
## Absent: Commissioners Hubbard and Duffy

## 3. Open Forum/Guest Presentation
## 3.A. Matthew Schrad, Executive Director of Slam The Stigma
Matthew Schrad provided information on his organization. He described what
mental health is and how these issues can affect people. He stated some
statistics of the effects of mental health issues on different life stages. He shared
his story and how mental health has impacted him. He discussed how he started
his organization and the reasons behind it. He listed the programs they currently
offer. He explained the ways that they can help his organization and aid in
helping with mental health issues in general. Commissioner Haanan asked if this
program is just for men and athletes. Mr. Shrad stated that this program is for
any students, not just athletes. Commissioner Mee noted that he has a similar
story to his. He asked if they are looking to add more activities daily. Mr. Shrad
stated that as they grow, they will hope to open more days during the week and
provide fun daily activities. Commissioner McClosky asked what the current
demographic of students is. Mr. Shrad stated that it is mainly high school
students, boys and girls.

Durbin reported May expenses as follows: They have begun to purchase items
for Pride, and the $3000 budget for the Pride Celebration is reflected in the
budget.

Commissioner Haanan provided an update on where the subcommittee is in the
planning process. She noted that they have started to secure reservations and
are narrowing down the decisions for activities and other aspects of the event.
She stated that they still have photo booth supplies from last year. They are
planning a rain…
