Welcome to another edition of Locally Yours. I'm Mayor Taylor Hubard >> and we're here in the Chesa Commons today at Heartbreakers Bar and Grill. I'm Michaela, Chesa City Council member and let's go ahead and head on inside and check it all out and try not to get our hearts broken. [Music] >> I'm Dominic Bowers. I'm the kitchen manager here at Heartbreakers Barry and Grill in Chaza. Heartbreak Geese is a local barn grill that I mean our food here is I'm going to brag about it because it's mine, but the wings here are probably the best in the town. The burgers are good and the pizzas are what people come in for. >> So Dom, you've been here for quite a while. Sounds like maybe 18 years. >> Soon to be 19. Yeah. >> Soon to be 19 years. >> June 6th. >> Yeah. That's that's amazing. And you've seen a lot of transition and change within the restaurant. Can you tell us a little bit more about kind of how the restaurant's changed over the years? >> In the time I've been here, we've had two owners, five GMs. As you know, any business, probably 100 bartenders, 100 cooks, but to be here still, it's pretty cool. >> Well, it sounds great that you've got some staples in your menu, but then you're always constantly changing things and keeping things fresh. Yeah, we try to change it twice a year. It's usually around May and then around October we'll redo the whole menu. Well, not the whole menu. We we we stick with their staples, you know what I mean? Our burgers sell. The wings are delicious. Probably the best in town. >> And then the pizzas are homemade, everything but the crust. >> How do you pick those items? Like when you're bringing something new on, what goes into deciding that? >> We try it over and over until we find the best at like burgers. When we when we changed the burger to the new burger, >> we tried 37 burgers. We were just sick of burgers, but we still >> wanted to make sure we got good quality food. So, we'll try it over and over. >> And we do our chicken our boneless chicken wings in house now, too. >> Where we used to do just the chicken chunks. >> Sure. >> And that was another one. We had probably 15 different ways to try a wing until we figured out the one we like the best. >> Sure. I mean, we'll just keep trying and failing till people are happy, you know. >> Yeah. >> Thinking about the people that come in and love Heartbreakers, it's really everyone, right? There's something, you know, if you want to just come in and grab a burger or bring the family in. >> Yeah. We we get a lot of sports teams with the kids and stuff, which is great for us because a lot of them is people that aren't, you know, I've seen from like Delano to Cloquet, Minnesota. >> Okay. where they got their names on their jerseys that they're coming. They're picking here. You know what I mean? >> It's cool to get a lot of sports teams and we get the coaches in here. Yep. >> They come and eat food and we see them a couple times a year. It's just nice knowing that people find comfort in Heartbreakers to where they can come here by themselves or with a group. >> One thing I love when I come in is there's you can watch any sport on the TV. So, there's a bunch of TVs in here and any game is going to be on >> Yeah. And if it's not, just ask. You know what I mean? We'll put it on >> like uh one of our bartenders really likes the Oo. >> Oh, yeah. >> So on August 8th or whatever sports. Yeah. >> We turn like half the TVs on the Oo just so people can watch dumb sports like underwater chess. >> It's just stuff you'd never watch on a regular dayto-day, but we'll watch it if you want it. >> I noticed you guys have pull tabs and some other activities going on. And how do you guys give back to the community? >> Uh the Lions Club >> is our pull tab provider. >> That's awesome. >> For bingo, it's Ducks Unlimited. >> Okay. >> And they are both of them give I mean the Lions gives left and right to >> Chasta. >> They're both companies are really good people to work with. They're the ones who help us out as much as we help them. >> Well, Crystal, thanks for chatting with us. So, tell us what's your role here at Heartbreakers? I'm the GM, so I kind of take over scheduling for the front of the house. Um, I help plan a lot of the events. Okay. >> And just kind of communicate with everybody, make sure everyone's on the same page. >> So, what's your favorite thing on the menu? >> Ooh, the chim tree flatbread right now is my all-time favorite. It's new. >> Um, otherwise, our boneless or no, our traditional wings. >> Okay. >> Traditional wings. Hands down best in the county. I'm telling you. >> I'm telling you. I'll brag about it. Well, you heard it here. Come test it out. Test to see if they're the best. I believe it though. Uh the food out here is always good. >> What can people do when they come to Heartbreakers cuz you really you can, you know, come eat and drink, but there's a lot more to it here. >> Yeah. So, pretty much every day of the week we have something going on. >> So, you have a lot of pool tables and, you know, arcade game darts. Yeah. So, tell us a little bit about that. People can come and do that, too. So, anyone can do that um at any time, 18 and older, but um we also do have like pool league and we have dart leagues and that's multiple days a week. And then on Sundays after 3:00, we have free pool >> all night. So, that's awesome. >> Yeah. So, if you're not good and you want to practice, >> that's the time to come. >> Come on Sundays. >> Absolutely. >> Yeah. >> As we make these videos and we talk to different businesses, one of the questions we really like to ask our businesses is, you know, what can the community do to help you? >> Yeah. I think just help support, you know, like um Greg and Rachel, they're humble, so whatever. But like the amount of work that they've put into this place to turn it into such an awesome spot is outrageous. >> And you know, we still keep getting new people in here. And that's I think that's the biggest thing >> and it's really cool. So Heartbreakers has really expanded over the years and there's a lot of reinvestment. And I think that's what I noticed so much when I come here is that there is great food, great people, but it's clear that you guys care about, you know, what you're doing and, you know, making people have a great experience. So, that kind of expansion and the patio and everything has been really cool. Have you seen a lot of benefit from that? >> Absolutely. I mean, just the space alone, obviously, we're a small bar, so it's hard to, you know, get a lot of events that make sense. So when we do find things like we'll take down the gates if we have to and kind of use our parking lot to do bigger stuff. But >> yeah, I think that the work that they've put into this place is just like like I said on a weekly basis I get people that are like, "I've never been here before. I didn't know that this was here." >> Um so it's really cool to see. We're getting more regulars as we go and it's it's cool to see that broaden. This was amazing. And this pizza is absolutely delicious. >> Yeah. No broken hearts with this pizza. >> Absolutely not. >> Thanks for joining us on another episode of Locally Yours.
