An electrical incident incapacitated both 2016 pumps at the Old Schoolhouse Park lift station. Loaner pumps are currently in use. Staff proposed options: replacing both pumps ($26,337 each for Vortex models) or repairing them ($6,288 each). An insurance claim has been filed, but coverage is unconfirmed. The Council discussed the critical importance of this lift station, which handles all city wastewater, and the desire to make a strategic decision for long-term reliability. A conditional motion was proposed to address the uncertainty of insurance coverage.

The proposed update to the personnel policy aimed to align it with the recently concluded labor agreement with the unions. Key changes included clarifications on how PTO, compensatory time, and paid holidays count towards hours worked for non-exempt employees (Section 8.06), premium pay rates for holidays worked (Article 11), and updates to the PTO accrual table (Section 12.01).

Uh so, out at the Old Schoolhouse Park lift station, right down at the ball fields there, we had an electrical incident that occurred. We're not sure the exact cause, but one of the pumps uh caused an electrical shortage, and then the way the wiring was or lying in the paneling, it caught over to the second pump wiring that then fried the second pump.
I have submitted this to insurance as a claim since it was an electrical incident outside of our control. I have not heard back yet on whether it will be covered or not. So we're looking for guidance tonight on uh how to proceed with this.
You could do a conditional type of motion. Have do those from time to time where if this, then this, but not if not that, then we do this.
And this lift station handles all the wastewater in the city. Everything from Rocky Meadow Lane all the way to Hidden Creek Boulevard, Hidden Trail, all of it funnels through, goes to that lift station back behind the behind the ball field, and that is what feeds the wastewater treatment facility. So, sticking money into it and having it operating at 100% in my opinion is key.
