It's >> all right. It is Tuesday, August 12th, uh 6:30. >> I'd like to call this meeting to order. Can we please rise and say the pledge of allegiance? >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Fantastic. All right. Uh, has everybody had a chance to look over uh the minutes from last meeting? Consent agenda >> for that? Uh, >> okay. >> Oh, anything we'd like to add to this agenda? Yeah, >> actually, I'd like to subtract eight and nine. >> Okay. >> I was hoping to hear more on Christmas tree lighting event, but I didn't get any info back. And Eric is the Eric and Melissa were the ones who did Christmas decorating contest. >> They were. Yep. Okay. >> All right. Uh any other additions to tonight's agenda? Otherwise, I'll look for a motion. >> Motion. >> Second. >> All in favor say I. >> I. >> I. Oppose. Motion carries. All right. Now, let's talk about last month's meet minutes. I didn't see anything that need to be changed or anything. And if somebody does, please bring it forward. Otherwise, I will look for a motion to approve the minutes from last month's meeting. >> Motion. >> Second. >> All in favor say I. >> I. Oppose. Same sign. Uh on to business. Let's uh Memorial Park bench program. Yeah. Where are we at? So last time we were pretty good with the program itself and then I sent out I'd gone by New Germany and they had uh former uh well yeah former mayor Steven Van Lith's bench out there and it just struck maybe that's something we had to look at. So sent that out but then this was also in the design of what we were looking at last time because we had liked Discovery Parks bench and we're looking for products like that. So, got a hold of Twilight over in New Germany and they got that through Treetop Products. I sent out a link for this. So, where we're at now is if we want to look at stylings of this nature, uh, these benches have engravings that would go on them and where our policy states that you will have an engraving that gets placed upon it. So if we want to go something like this where you actually have things custom engraved into the veg from the outset, then we just update the language of the policy to reflect that either or scenario in there. I personally like where it's engraved into the board. Um it stands out a little bit more. Uh the thing that we had before, the smaller plaque, you have to get awful close to know who it is or or who donate. You know what I mean? >> Mhm. >> If you're buying by it, you can see what this was, >> right? >> Versus >> Yeah, I agree. I like the engraving. >> I like the middle top one. >> Me, too. But >> yeah. >> Although, do we talk about there's one without arms >> versus with? Can we talk about that? >> No, we I we never had discussed that. >> We had looked at one like this. >> That one has no arms. Yeah, >> that has no arms. It was in the style Discovery Park that didn't have arms, but it's really whatever you guys want to go with. >> Okay. >> If everybody likes this one. >> How big is that? I mean, are we >> Comes in four and six foot increments. >> Okay. And that's that um >> 64 then >> maintenancefree. >> Yes. Recycled plastic main UV UV and moisture resistant. So we look at personalizing this to get a true cost. You have 4 foot and a six foot version. Obviously watch that one up top. >> Right? >> If you go for four boards of text then it continues to go up. And this can be whatever the donor really wants on it. Adjusting by price. >> That's those are the only two factors that'll affect the price of the >> basically put the range of prices. It could be this price or it could be that price. Depends on what you put on it. And >> Yep. And that's what our policed policy states that whatever the price is, that's what the donor is responsible for covering. >> Yep. >> I like it. >> So if they want a 4 foot, they want a six foot. So then would you send a link to this site so they can type it in or would they have to come in and then >> they do give the specifications down below for the boards. >> Oh, okay. >> Let me blow that up a little more. >> Did I say four different colors up top or was that >> Yeah, I just put my glasses on. So >> yeah, there's multiple colors. I think there were. >> So, do we let them choose that, too, or do we just stick to I mean, because all the benches all around town are aren't uniform, are they? >> No, they're not uniform color. If you want to pick a color and that's what it is, great. If you're okay with them picking the color, that's fine, too. >> I'd like to keep the uniform color. I I would, too. >> I like that desert tan. >> I think it goes with everything. Yeah, >> that looks orange. >> No, >> on on the picture it looks orange anyway. >> The tan is neutral and >> it's the letters are going to pop better. >> Yep. >> Agreed. >> I mean, I hate to fence somebody in if they're buying a bench for us. They're buying a bench, but >> I mean, >> yeah, but it's not I don't think it's it's out of the realm of expectation that, you know, the city still owns the bench, >> right? you're just having your significant person or whatever put onto the bench. >> So then I mean how much does it matter? I mean because we're going to be adding benches ourselves to parks too. So are we going to >> So that's why it' be nice to be uniform. Right. >> Right. >> So are we going to do similar benches because that's an expensive one. But >> that's a question you can board wants to consider. Do you want the memorial park? Do we want a style for the parks that we go with on a uniform basis and the memorial benches are ones that are different so that they stand out a bit more or do you want everything to be this in our parks or this likeness? You might have post for feed or something like that. Armed slatted this with this color. >> Maybe we're getting into the weeds too much. I would say keeping it, you know, uniform and then it's going to stand out because of the black lettering of the memorial part. So, >> good with this. >> And there's nothing saying that if we wouldn't put a bench in that somebody couldn't >> Well, we could just if someone want to put the bench where we have a bench, put it somewhere else and put the new one there. That's what I'm saying. So with that, I still question the concrete portion of it because we I feel that we we are looking to install benches around the city somewhere, right? >> Um do we take on the cost of doing the concrete which for a pad that's >> 200, you know, four by you know, six and a half where I mean, we would be looking to put a bench in somewhere somewhere anywhere, right? Um, does the city take on the cost of the concrete? >> Was the concrete in the wording for a donor? >> Yes, it was. >> Yep. So, it's bench, concrete, installation, and a plaque. >> Okay. >> Now, this we don't have to worry about the plaque because it's part of the cost. It's part of the right >> and I don't know if we need a better quote on concrete. Like I say, I just feel that we're going to be wanting to utilize and put benches around the city regardless. >> Yeah. >> You know, do we just eat the cost of the concrete? Like I mean, it's probably $500 at the most. I'm sure it's something the guys would pour. Um, you know, it's a it's a common >> Yeah. >> rectangular pad >> bags of concrete then probably, >> you know, truck, >> right? >> Yeah. It wouldn't be truck. I mean, they have a cement mixer and whatnot. So, um, you know, I know that they have that down at the shop. So, >> and yeah, if you wanted that to be part of the like this is our program to create, >> correct? Nice. In the budget, in the preliminary budget for council, the park board is slated to get $100,000 next year or the park cip I should say. >> So, do we just pour pads where we want benches and leave some open and then say those, you know, leave them open as long as we can for a donor to put a bench in or do you wait until they buy a bench and then you put a pad in? And our current policy says that if they want to have it in a certain place in a certain area, >> they can work with us. Generally, what that would mean is as long as it's not in a really bad place, right, >> we'll say yes. >> I see. >> To that location. >> Okay. >> Kind of put the park benches where we think they should be right now because we had I don't know. I think from our list we seemed like we had about six or eight that we wanted to put in >> and then after that it's whoever wants to put one in >> additional. Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> I mean, you think there's room for us >> and that'd be an easy one to knock off the list next year. >> I agree. >> Yeah. >> But I would say keep uniform and if there someone wants a memorial, then >> they just got to put the letter on. >> We want this style bench. >> I like it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. And do we need to maybe have a garbage can with some of those too then? >> No. >> No. >> Just for sitting. >> Do we need to vote on this? >> I think we'll have we'll have to make a motion, won't we? >> Yeah. Well, so it'll be a motion. Make a policy recommendation approval up to city council. >> That's what I meant. >> Yeah. >> Let's go with the Madison Memorial for the bench. They can select four or sixfooter. We don't care. Or is it mandatory six foot footer? >> Six. >> I say >> that's going to fit two people comfortably. >> Yeah. >> Two to three. >> Probably six. >> You know, two with a child. >> And again, other benches we put in, they're going to be six feet. >> I think let's just stick to the six foot. >> Okay. >> Width. >> Desert tan. And the amount of wording would that leave up to how much. If they want one line, great. If they want four lines, >> great. They're paying for it. >> Agreed. >> Yeah, that'll be up to them to cover that. >> Great. >> What's two? >> That isn't terrible. And then city pays for concrete >> and we would be ordering the bench, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. So now, not that it really involves us a whole lot, but does that come tax exempt then? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Since it's dubbed the park amenity park, >> I'm just saying for the person that's purchasing it, that's what they would see. Uh yes. So if we go through top products, we'll submit our ST3 form to them so they know that our purchases are tax exempt. >> So anything that we get quoted would be tax exempt. >> Yes. Okay. >> Done. >> All right. With that, I guess I will look for a motion. >> Motion. >> Second. And I I'll these are all going to be um clerical updates to this rather than engraved plaque. I'm just going to change the language in this >> to yeah >> engraved bench engrave to do this. Nothing of this is substantive. >> Okay. >> Just going to put in the language >> that fits right in. But the bulk of this should stay relatively the same. And once approved, I mean, it's something maybe we should advertise and say, "Hey." >> Yeah, I definitely think so. >> Newsletter, social media. >> Perfect. Like it. >> All right. Well, we have a motion, a second. All in favor say I. >> I. I. >> Who first and seconded? >> First, second. >> All right. On to business number six. review disc golf course tournament and open house. I'm excited. >> Lots of people are over there playing. >> Oh, there's people there all the time. I was like all the time. >> So, the other day I came home and there was two photographers and five guys and these guys had tripods out. The one was flying a drone and they were playing on the course. >> Oh. >> So, I don't know what that was about, but I was like, "Sweet." for the tournament. >> No, before I saw a couple baskets go up and nobody's out there and then like a day or two later I saw the I'm like, "Oh, there it is. You can see it." Once you can see the baskets making a lot more noise. >> Yes. >> And people were out playing. I was like, "Holy cow, look at that." >> That was some of the comments we got back after we installed the baskets. Some of the contours you couldn't see where the basket was. So, that was brought up. So, we ordered flags and we got those put up. Um, signage should be up. >> It is. Well, I can see from the road. I haven't >> Most of it's up hole or T11 and 13 we need to locate because there's a fiber line going through there. >> Okay. >> So, I've got the locate in. I put it this morning. And then Jason's going to be spotting where the main entrance sign should go. >> Okay. >> And we'll get that put in. >> Very cool. >> And then uh we on top of hole or yeah, hole 12 that's on the mound. We put a bunch of wood chips up there rather than try because it's all clay and junk dirt. Rather than trying to try and put black dirt and established grass, which will never happen, >> we just put wood chips up there. >> Yeah. Just maintain that. Put some wood chips up there every every year or whatever. >> Pound up twice a year. Takes care of it. >> Does Mayor know or does uh Mayor Luther know we're doing >> an homage to them on the sign? Are they aware? Cool. Mhm. >> And they know they're getting uh one gifted sign as well or gifted sponsorship as well. >> Nice. >> So, yeah, that's coming along well. September 6th. Make sure I get that in here. >> 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Still trying to lock down a food truck. All of our usuals are busy. >> So, I'm expanding outward, greater, and greater. >> Uh, finding that. >> There's that taco truck. >> I was going to say, did you try the Mexican the sneaky Mexican truck that came in at at Black. >> Black Katrina. >> Yeah. I don't know what it is. I just know that all of a sudden last year it showed up here and they were like >> they weren't they weren't sneaky this year. We invited them back, but they were they were sneaky last year. Oh, we heard you mention it. Yeah. They just showed up at the event and we're like, "Well, we can't really turn you away market." >> But it was it was funny. It was just like >> I've heard really good reviews about their food. So, >> I've emailed them twice and they haven't gotten back. Okay. >> I could message I can message them on Facebook. >> Go for it. >> Since I already contact them. Okay. >> I've tried twice. >> What time do you want them there? >> Uh 10:00 a.m. or 10 11:00 a.m. >> 11. >> Well, how long does it take them to get set up? >> What about tell them to come set up at 10 and they can start serving? >> Tell them the events from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. We want them to serve food. >> If you can't find them, do the Lions want to do it? Or do you not want to? >> I haven't even thought about asking. >> I was say they have music in the park shortly after. So, >> okay. Yeah. Just a thought. Maybe they do want to, but >> are we doing any like opening speech or any >> I thought you were >> I It doesn't matter. I >> I typically do, but I I I don't know. Didn't know if that was part of the plan or not. >> No, we weren't planning a grand speech or riping or anything like that. >> If it was just you showing up at the tournaments at this time and then, you know, grand opening. >> I'm not against like saying welcome and >> whatever. I I'm open to whatever. I'm just I want to go try this thing. >> We currently have >> I want to know how terrible I am at it. I want to know. >> We currently have 47 people signed up for the tour. Get out of town. >> Wow. >> Nice. >> Wow. >> What's an average tournament? >> Well, that's a good question, isn't it? >> I have no idea. >> I feel like 47's pretty good. >> Yeah, I'm not going to complain. >> I'll go play if someone will go fetch my discs in the weeds. >> That is one thing I have seen people walking back the fairways going into the Thank you. >> while we clean the trails, you and I. >> Right. Right. I feel the same way about the trash disc. Of course. >> Shoot. >> So, yeah, we're pretty well set up. Uh, >> I think those are called um what do they call them in golf? >> Your your person that carries your bag. >> Oh, it's like a caddy. >> Sure. I need one of those. >> You need a caddy. >> Caddy. >> My kids. Yeah. Yeah. >> Go get that thing down there. Go get that. >> Our giveaway disc is in production. Awesome. Very nice. >> Off and away. >> That's >> I love the farm in there and everything. That's great. >> Yeah. >> Homage to the agricultural background and the prairie nature. >> Perfect. >> Yeah, the feeasants on there. No, I think it's great. >> Uh so yeah, we'll be giving this these discs away. And Nova is going to have some more grab bag type of stuff they're going to include as well to supplement it. Hopefully we have enough for we got 200 discs coming. Uh they're high quality discs. We have some of them are going to be for the uh pro players themselves or the tournament players. They're designed for veter it's not a so all of them are the same plastic quality. >> It's just the design >> the design of them. >> Some are more professional friendly others are more beginner friendly >> is the difference. So we've got some set aside for the tournament players and then we have a chunk set aside for adults. That would be throwing disc and then we have some for kids. >> Cool. Nice. >> Okay. >> Nice. >> Now, what I don't know what you've gotten as far as feedback of the course. From what I've heard, it's >> challenging, but it's not overly it from from what I I guess I've heard is it's it's very fit for everybody because some of the holes are very complicated and some of them aren't, but it gives a nice variety. And I' I've heard a lot from what I've read and what I've heard is is the people that are playing it are really liking it. >> Good. >> That's what I'm getting too. >> That's great. a lot of positive feedback on it. >> Yep. So, yeah, it's funny driving around now, you see the baskets all over the place. >> I went through, >> right? You didn't know this before. >> So, I went through Prairie by the Henipin Tech and they had baskets. I'm like where are your you know starting pads and where are >> right >> what doesn't look like it's anything set up pieces but >> sometimes they just pound baskets into the ground. >> Yeah. >> They don't even do concrete pads. >> Yeah. >> It's just your chain. >> This is your mode spot that you throw from. >> Yeah. That's what chain master does. They don't have any um Yeah. No. Uh I think it was good. How about sponsorship? Where did we end up on that? >> Still working on it. >> Still working on Yeah. Well, yeah, I'm waiting on Do you have a plaque? >> Yeah, I've got everything. We just got to get on it. >> Okay. Okay. >> Okay. Cool. Awesome. >> Exciting. Perfect. >> So, we're good on that. >> All right. And number seven, moving on to uh Music in the Park. This we're set for as well. Uh Michael Handler is good to go. The lions will be doing food. Bounce houses we're slated for. Um archery they're good for and pony rides are locked in. So >> very cool. >> Did we What about ice cream truck? >> Yeah. Did you get in touch with brain freeze? >> I never got back to me. >> Okay. >> Me neither. Um, there's a Rup Your Float Truck that I know has reached out to me. I don't know what it's called, though. >> Rupier float truck. >> I feel like they've been up at before. I think they're from Water Town. >> Okay. >> I could probably find them. >> They'd be good. That I think that'd be good. It's easy. It's I think I had one shared a float with somebody from there actually up at Mary with him. It was a float. I don't know if they do other I could ask. I know they've asked about coming to the festival before. >> Did we have any idea on adult beverages? That's a question I get asked a lot. >> Oh, do you? >> Yeah. We're skipping. >> Okay. Because that's that's the question that I've been asked because the the baseball team has done it in the past. >> Yeah. >> Right. So, everybody's like, who's doing it now? I don't know. >> Straight and narrow city of marrier. Who can do it? I mean, the fire department or But they'd have to >> They have to get a special license. Joe made it sound like the Lions could do it. I thought knuckleheads could. Don't they have a license to >> uh We would need to issue them a temporary intoxicating liquor license. >> And then do you have to put like no alcohol beyond this point? >> Yeah. You >> fire department's done >> because it's a park. It's not that you can't have it in a park. >> Splash beds. can't be shut down area would be popping it again. >> We have to make sure it stays on premise somehow. >> So then would you have to have do they have to have >> you have to skip it this year? We'll deal with it. >> And that's fine. I that's fine. >> I think it'd be smart for knuckleheads to do something like that to be honest. >> I agree. I think it's a little too last minute right now. >> Okay. >> And that's fine. Like I said, that's just the question I've been asked and I'm like, well, I will find out. >> I want to know who >> can do events, too, though, >> if they choose to. Yeah, I think either one would be smart to do get involved. >> They just do the farm >> and just simple beer and filters, but we're skipping it this year. So, that's a discussion. >> We'll do her next year. >> All right. Bring your camps. >> Clearly Mike has a problem. All my friends are asking. >> I haven't drank my boyfriend. >> So that's a whole different That's awesome. >> Oh, good. >> Um, >> yeah. So, if you are going to check on uh >> Do you want me to message the ropier flow people? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Click wouldn't hurt. And I think they have not just rope your floats. Don't they have a couple different things? >> I would have to check. >> I'm pretty sure they had find them on Facebook. I think it's literally the float mobile >> or like a mini do donut person >> and and our Freshwater Outdoor Church. >> Joe's Mini Donuts. I have contact for them. >> That's a good fall thing. People love mini donuts in the fall. I think that's the >> people love mini donuts, >> but in the fall even more so like especially there's those apple cider mini donuts that are always advertised out at fall harvest and stuff. So, >> brings me out there. >> All right. Um, >> any more that you wanted to discuss on that? >> No, I think we're good. >> Um, anybody have anything they'd like to report? The only other comment that I have had is people really like the fencing around the around the splash. >> Well, and that's what I said that I mentioned. They want it to be permanent. >> Yes. People are asking if there's something like a decorative railing or something that we can >> so they can keep their kids wrinkled in there. >> Yeah. >> I think it's a really good idea for the future, >> right? I don't believe that's something for this year, but I think Yeah, >> I agree. like a >> but not like super tall but >> like four foot >> tall enough. Yes, >> like a four foot. >> It can look nice. >> Yeah, absolutely. >> It should look nice. >> What does that look for? >> Because it's been a topic of disc I think that was the first question I asked when I we >> will there be a fence? >> Even black chain link is nice. Honestly, >> that's what I have in my yard. So, >> I didn't want chain link, but then my neighbors got it and it's not bad. So it's better than regular chain. >> Yes. >> So with that, we can discuss that later at a later date, but just bring it up. And yes, you did bring it up on the first. >> That was probably my first question. >> I love this idea. Will there be a >> Yes. Um if nobody has anything else, I will be looking for a motion to adjurnn. >> Motion second. >> All in favor say I. >> I. Oppos. Same sign. No fighting over that. Um, >> I thought you'd be quiet because you like to hang out. it. I mean,
