[0:04] Hey everyone, welcome to the Monday [0:06] planning lesson. Why is planning [0:09] important? No matter what you do or [0:12] where you go in life, planning with [0:13] intentionality is key to success of any [0:16] kind. I mean, think about anyone who is [0:19] successful at anything. Go ahead and [0:21] think about it. They have spent [0:23] considerable focus time working on their [0:27] craft and this requires intentionality [0:35] to be successful at anything. The truth [0:39] is you don't have to be special. You [0:42] just have to be what most people aren't. [0:46] Consistent, determined, and willing to [0:49] work for it. integrity, purpose, [0:51] determination, and discipline that it [0:54] takes to be a champion in life. No [0:57] shortcuts. [1:00] Thank you, Tom Brady. While Tom Brady [1:02] was a football star, I especially like [1:04] that message because I think it applies [1:06] to all of life. You don't have to be [1:08] special, but if you have purpose, [1:11] intentionality, and discipline, you can [1:13] accomplish great things. You just have [1:16] to be consistent. [1:18] Have you ever thought about what do you [1:20] want to be good at? What do you want to [1:22] get better at? Well, we're in school, so [1:24] we're focusing on learning, of course, [1:26] but we're going to have an exercise this [1:28] year on Mondays or the first day of the [1:30] week to begin raider time where you can [1:33] develop that skill of consistency. So [1:36] you are going to complete an exercise [1:38] where you look at your grades and you [1:41] consider what needs to be done this [1:43] week. What needs to be made up from last [1:46] week? How do you want to spend your win [1:47] time? What do you need to get done to [1:50] achieve your goals? [1:53] So this practice I think is necessary [1:56] and helpful no matter what you want to [1:59] do. And again it's going to happen in [2:01] raider time at the start of each week. [2:05] So here is the document and you'll take [2:07] a few minutes to fill it out. Your task [2:10] is going to be task is going to be to [2:12] submit this to your raider time teacher [2:13] in Google classroom. Then you will get a [2:17] chance to meet briefly with them to [2:18] share your plan for the week. Talk about [2:21] your goals. What do you want to [2:22] accomplish? Ask them for support if you [2:25] need it. Take a minute to celebrate your [2:28] success if you've had it. and consider [2:31] how you want to stay on that trajectory. [2:34] The great thing about this, it doesn't [2:36] matter if you're in sixth grade or 12th [2:39] grade. If you have an a GPA that's over [2:42] 4.0 or maybe you're not passing every [2:45] class, this practice will be helpful for [2:48] everyone and something that will be [2:50] expected of you every single week. [2:55] Finally, we would ask that you share [2:57] this plan with a family member, a [2:59] parent, guardian, or grandparent so that [3:01] they can support you and nudge you along [3:04] as you work to achieve your goals. So [3:07] again, this is going to take place every [3:09] Monday at the start of Raider time or on [3:11] Tuesday if we don't have school on [3:13] Monday. You get it. And then there's [3:15] going to be a short social emotional [3:17] learning lesson and our expectation is [3:19] that everyone is participating in those. [3:21] So you can expect every week to start [3:23] that way. [3:24] In closing, planning ahead is a critical [3:27] step for success for anyone. Principals, [3:32] teachers, business owners, [3:35] salespeople, [3:36] doctors, trades people, you get the [3:40] picture. I hope this is a habit that you [3:42] will be able to build into your life and [3:44] I'll continue to work into mine. Cheers [3:46] and go Raiders. [3:50] able to keep it so that my jeans aren't [3:52] showing or is that just a [3:53] non-negotiable? [3:55] >> It does.
