[0:00] Our students are motivated and very [0:02] driven students and one of the things [0:04] our staff want to be able to do is to [0:06] offer them authentic feedback. When the [0:08] class sizes go up and theu teachers [0:10] aren't able to build some of those [0:11] connections, what ends up getting [0:12] limited is that authentic feedback that [0:14] each of our students deserves. [0:16] >> When the district made $4.6 million in [0:18] budget adjustments in 2023, elementary [0:21] class sizes were not impacted. However, [0:24] if another round of budget reductions [0:26] are required, increased class sizes [0:28] would be inevitable. [0:29] >> If we're adding five, maybe 10 kids more [0:33] a class and I'm teaching five classes a [0:35] day, that's 50 more kids, that's that's [0:37] a class and a half more that I I'm now [0:39] stretched. It's it's losing that ability [0:41] to make those connections because I I [0:44] got to put time in to just simply uh [0:46] make my class work. On Tuesday, November [0:49] 4th, district residents will be asked to [0:51] vote on an operating levy for learning [0:53] that would raise approximately $3 [0:55] million annually for 10 years. This [0:57] increase in funding would move Wakonia [0:59] public schools out of the bottom 25% of [1:01] Minnesota school districts when it comes [1:03] to per pupil funding. This would allow [1:06] Bakonia public schools to continue [1:07] protecting class sizes by maintaining [1:10] targeted home room class sizes at the [1:12] elementary level, maintaining targeted [1:14] secondary class sizes in core subjects [1:16] like math, science, language arts, and [1:19] social studies, and continuing to offer [1:21] a wide array of elective courses at the [1:24] secondary level. Please learn all you [1:27] can about the upcoming referendum and [1:28] make a plan to vote on or before [1:30] November 4th. [1:32] [Music]
