been working on for the last few months um we're going to do a quick warm up and then after that we'll really get into the music thank you again for my [Music] a [Music] a [Music] good evening and welcome to the sixth grade band Winter concert my name is Taran and I play the French horn [Music] ad our first piece of music we will be playing is band Boogie by Michael Sweeney bandr Boogie uses the first five notes we've all learned on our instruments it also features each section of the band and each group of instruments gets their own time to sh first you hear the flu and play their own then clarinet then trumpets and then SX and horns together and finally low breaths the whole time percussion provides our steady beat and enhances our sound to end the piece we all play together to show our band team we hope you enjoy Band by Michael [Applause] the a [Music] n [Music] la [Music] a [Music] [Applause] hello my name is Arie and I play the TU my our next lection this evening is up the mountain World by Mariah Margaret Jensen who is actually one of our band teachers we know her as Miss Jensen she wrote this piece can be played by any combination of mus musicians and this style of music is called Flex music there are only four separate parts of music and they could be played by any instrument in the band was about the time when TR to SP were a college and they were driving up a m right before a Jensen was really nervous about the height of the mountain but when she saw the view at the top it was all work the music depicts the mountain by using which is how loud loud or soft the music is we start quiet at the bottom of the mountain then we gradually get louder as we get higher up the mountain we hope you enjoy up the mson [Applause] oh [Music] a [Music] [Applause] hi my name is Andrew and I play the CL my name is the our next piece of music is Dragon Dance by Michael story Dragon Dance is written to honor a dance that happens during the traditional holiday of Chinese New Year this holiday originated during the H disy many many centuries ago during the during the celebration a team of performers carry a dragon fig on PS and mic what a dragon might look like Dr piece of music that has three Total Parts Plus percussion the music features a main Melody that gets passed around the band at different times and ends with everyone playing the melody together see how many times you can hear the melody being played in total we hope you enjoy Dragon Dance by Mich [Applause] [Music] la la [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] all right my name is Mr cber one of the directors here and before we hear from our last students I want to thank uh some people that are very important to hear um at Valley and and to contribute to Our Success here in the Band program I want to thank uh the custodians for all their work setting all the we got some extra staging I don't know if you can tell but we got all these extra stage parts that aren't normally here we have all these chairs out so big thank you to our custodians thank you to our Administration uh Miss Thom Miss Thomas is here hello thank you we appreciate your support a ton uh Sean linquist our Tech guy gets uh the lights we got some new lights uh he he helps us out with a camera as well we thank you to Sean and a thank you to the rest of the Valley staff um it's huge to have their support because uh here in B we try and do a lot of different things we try and have students have a lot of different opportunities and sometimes it means being flexible the rest of the staff having to be flexible and we super appreciate it so we can help our students be as successful as we can uh thank you to the Fifth Grade B in directing staff most of our students had either Mariah Myers Jeff cul and Beth caybba but some students uh are from some other uh elementary schools as well and they do an awesome job of getting our students prepared for sixth grade band uh we really we really like them a lot and then thank you to all of you the families out there we know it's a sacrifice a lot of times uh Financial time wise for uh helping your student uh be in band so thank you so much thank you also for the encouragement um that you have at home for that at home practice so important in Middle School uh to keep making that good progress so we thank you so much and thank you to the students uh we love working with them every day let's get a big round of applause for us all right we got one more piece and after this piece will be kind of an opportunity to take pictures like row by row so be ready it's going to be like the fifth row the stand up and the four throw so just letting you know you hopefully will have a chance to get your student all right our last speakers come on hello my name is shita and I play the FL and my name is Julie and I play the trumpet our last piece this evening is first winter slay ride by John oy first winter slay ride uses two famous cars inter woven into this original piece of music as you listen to the music see if you can recognize little bits and pieces of and jolly Carol is a piece of music usually Su in a cheerful manner first one for slay is just right mix and new to create a sparkling new winter selection of music thank you for coming to our concert tonight and we hope you enjoy John O'Reilly's first Winter s drive home safely have a great
