[Music] being that the acronym is building assets reducing risks it's a instructional framework that is meant to increase student achievement while also deepening relationships that they have with us as staff members but ultimately with each other that's the biggest goal we meet as a team with English social studies and science once a week and we get a chance to talk about kind of patterns that we're seeing common themes across our class CL and also individual students who may need some attention or some extra support one thing I love about bar is that nobody slips through the cracks because we even you know a kid who shows up and does what they're supposed to do and we talk about them we always start with the positive and that just kind of helps frame the conversation and make sure that we're talking about students from a way that is strengths based and seeing them as a full human having like the same teacher kind of me build that relationship and the teachers like they want what is best for you which made me realize when I'm asking questions or just I need help on something that they're not going to judge me so it g me that confidence to like go talk to new teachers and say hey I know we like just met but can you please help me with this and that they're not going to judge you and they're actually there to support you my relationships with teachers I feel like has helped my grade improve because I get to talk to them more about like assignments or like if I I don't understand stuff I see like a big difference like with the change in the what grades and also my attendance relationships are what helped kids learn bar has helped build stronger classroom culture and classroom Community kids learn to trust each other more they feel more comfortable taking risks and that pays off both in the classroom and just in their everyday lives I really lik the ey time lessons that were included in bar I think that was the biggest takeaway from this because I really learned how to talk to different people build connections be like socially emotional with different people and interact with them being positive is oh it's a big one because they taught me to be respectful kind how to include people too um because including is a very important part I think of bar because you have such a diverse group and different type of people and as you guys come together there's different perspectives and different ideas I do feel like I have opportunity to share my opinions because in the beginning of the year we all talked about how we would make the school a safe place and a lot of people chose about respecting each other and like whatever is set in the room stays in the room and I feel like that creates a safe opportunity like in the classroom and the teachers also come with a warm welcome I really look forward to my English courses the connections I have with these kids like where I can assist them and encourage them for elements that they're accomplishing in but also offer that support support if they need they know that they have adults that champion them and bar really helps us to emphasize the positives within our roles as educators
