good evening and welcome to Valley Middle School and welcome to the second sixth grade concert uh that we've had here tonight seated before you our students from our gold day bands they meet first and second hour um every other day uh and so we're really excited uh to present our our program and and present our concert for you they've been working really really hard and we've made some great strides so far this year and we're really excited about where we're headed and what what we're going to get to next um we're going to do just a brief warm up to kind of get started before we go through our program tonight but once again thank you for coming tonight and uh in a second here then we'll warm up and then we'll have some student speakers for you [Applause] you [Music] oh [Music] a [Music] la [Music] oh [Music] good evening and welcome to the sixth grade band concert my name is McKenna and I and my name's Jacob and I play [Music] percussion our first piece of music we will be playing is Ban boie by Michael SW ban Boogie uses the first five notes we all learned on our instruments it also features each section of the band and each group of instruments gets their own first y here flu and obos play on their own then clarinets then trets then saxophone and orangs together and finally blow Bass the whole time percussion our steady beat and enhances our sound to to end the piece we all play together to show our teamwork we hope you enjoyed Band Room Boogie by Michael [Applause] SW for a [Music] a [Music] w [Music] [Applause] the [Music] [Applause] hello my name is hello my name is Joshua and I play the trumpet and my name is z and I play the F our next elction this evening is up the Mountain Road by Mariah Margaret Jensen who is actually one of ourand Fe we know her as Miss Jens she wrote this piece by combin of and this style of music is called fle music there are only four separate parts of mus and instrument in the band this song is about a time Jensen traveled to Spain with her College Band and they were driving up the mountain before a concert Miss Jensen was really nervous about the height of the mountain but when she saw the vi at the top it was all worth it this music depicts a mountain by using Dynamics which is how loud or soft the music is we start quiet at the bottom of the mountain the gradually we get louder as we get higher up the Mountain Road we hope you enjoy up the Mountain Road by Mariah Margaret Jenson [Applause] [Music] la [Music] la [Music] than [Applause] hello my name is Maddie and [Music] I'm and my name is B and I put the clarette our next piece of music was Dragon Dance by Michael story Dragon Dance was written to honor a dance that happens during a traditional holiday of Chinese New Year this holiday originated during the H Dynasty many centuries ago during the celebration a team of performers carry a dragon figure on PO and mimic what a dragon might look like as it moves Dragon band is also a flex piece of music that has three total parts of plus percussion the music features a main Melody that gets passed around the band at different times and ends with everyone play your Melody together we see how many times you hear the melody be play in total we hope you enjoy by Michael story [Applause] oh [Music] to [Music] la [Music] [Applause] all right before our last piece uh there's some people that I'd like like to thank that are super instrumental to what we do here in band at Valley so first of all big thank you to our custodians as you can maybe tell the stage normally goes not this far at all right we got a lot of stage extensions we got all these those chairs out there and the STS are super helpful so big thank you to them thank you yeah let's CL thank you to our Administration we have uh one of our admin Miss Seth Thomas here tonight thank you for being here and they are so supportive all the time thank you thank you to uh our Tech Guy Sean linquist he helps out with um the lights as you can see we got some updates on those and then also our cameras so thank you to Sean if you if you know what clap for he's a wrestling coach too all right and then um a big piece of of us being able to be successful and giving our band students as many opportunities as possible is having a super flexible and supportive staff so a big thank you to the rest of the Valley staff um sometimes we're pulling kids in different areas and we're pulling them out for lessons and it's so important to have a staff that understands what we do and so we're super thankful for them big thanks as well yeah let's clap let's clack might as well keep it up all right and and a big thingk to our District's fifth grade uh band directors most of the students up here have either Mariah Myers Jeff cul or Beth claybo but uh we have students coming from all kinds of different elementary schools and they do such a great job preparing students for sixth grade so let's give it up for them too all right and the next thank you is to all of you the families uh we understand that it's a sacrifice to support your students in band A lot of times financially TimeWise uh just being here and thank you also for the encouragement that you give them to practice at home it's so important in the those Middle School years in order to make that great progress so thank you to you let's clap for them students clap your family and then one last thank you to the students we love working with them every single day let's give it up for them right now all right after the concert if you're able to we're going to uh just fold chairs and then just up against that wall both walls okay so just fold them and then they can be in you know just like leaning up against in about stacks of five six some yeah just just stack them up against the wall and that' be super helpful for our custodians all right we can have our last couple speakers Mariam and Molly come on up hello my name is Mariam and I play the bass Claret and my name is Molly and I play the Alo saxophone our last piece this evening this evening is first wi SL ride by J Riley first wi SL ride uses two famous CS interwoven into the original piece of music as you listen to the music see if you can recognize little bits and pieces of De the halls and jolly old s Nicholas a Carol is a piece of music usually s in a cheerful manner first wi slay ride is just right mix of old and new to create a sparkling new winter selection of music thank you for coming to our concert tonight and we hope you enjoy J Riley's first winter Slow Ride R Hope safely have a great winter break and remember to take us out for a treat after the concert to celebrate right [Applause] [Music] la la [Music] to [Music] la [Music] la [Music] all right I forgot to tell you this but we're going to do a little picture time we kind of row by row so first chance percussion if you have a percussion student percussion is Stand Tall move your stands down and you can take a picture of your percussion students if you uh if you want to stand up and then we'll go row by row all right go go go you out of percussionist all right row five stand up row
