The city has approved an agreement to become a member of the first responders training center that is under construction in Lakeville. The new facility will provide law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical personnel with modern hands-on training spaces for scenario-based exercises and classroom instruction. The center is designed to improve readiness, safety, and collaboration among first responders across the South Metro. By joining the facility, Apple Valley will gain access to advanced training resources while sharing costs with other participating communities. The Apple Valley Police Department is once again partnering with the Rosemount PD to offer a teen academy that gives local youth a hands-on look at law enforcement while building leadership skills and community connections. Participants learn about police operations through interactive activities, demonstrations, and discussions led by Apple Valley and Rosemount police officers. The program focuses on teamwork, communication, and personal safety while providing a realistic understanding of police work. The teen academy also helps strengthen trust and positive relationships between youth and the police.
