good evening everybody Welcome to the Valley Middle School seventh grade band concert we are so excited that you're here my name is Mariah Jensen I'm one of the band directors here and I conduct the seventh grade wiin Ensemble you'll get to hear from them our jazz band our percussion Ensemble and finally all of the seventh grade band kids and you'll get to witness what they've been working really hard on for the last few months uh we're so excited that you're here thank you for your endless support and continued encouragement of your student being in music so without further Ado here is our woodwind [Music] [Applause] on my name is and I'm is a glorious things arranged by this is an arrangement of religious H originally written by but's version is more well known because music so well with originaly for this piece on playing and time together and producing a song with articulations and we hope you enjoy glorious things or ins J [Applause] w [Music] [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] w [Applause] hi I'm Ellen and I play the flute our next woodwi Ensemble selection this evening is titled Calypso morning by Bruce Pearson this piece of music uses an upy Tempo and specific articulations to evoke the Calypso style of folk music found in Trinidad and Tobago a common instrument used in calypso music is the Shaker we have one of our own shakers that Miss Jensen will be playing with us she even let us name it this Shaker looks just like a bell pepper and we decided on the name Sizzler rizzler please enjoy CPO morning by Bruce Pearson featuring The Sizzler rler [Applause] [Music] la around the school next week to Carol for our next advis for this Arrangement some of us will be playing Jingle Bell with no hand we had to get creative to figure out how to play two instruments at something would be sweet to get a lot more in there the OK Milo uh OKO side show is by Bruce pearon uh it's going to feature some solos and these solos are improvisation solos students are making up what they're playing and we're going to hear from Jackson Christensen on tuba Vinnie gipson and Lucas U on alto saxs Matthew aladine on Bas playet and Eli olon and Lucas Benson on on trumpet [Music] is adelyn and I play the flute [Music] and my name is Matthew and I play the Bas clet our next piece is engines of resistance by Larry Clark throughout the music you'll hear two opposing themes resisting each other one that is aggressive and angular and another that is lyrical and flowing underneath both themes is the engine constantly working to keep the music moving the core of the engine is the percussion section well listen when some brass and Woodwinds join their arhythmic motor get ready to start the engines of resistance [Applause] [Music] la [Music] [Music] [Music] la [Music] [Music] la [Music] [Music] la [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] la [Music] [Music] la [Music] [Applause] anxiety and Brine and take place in the next week which is titled real R the composer Brian D mes wanted to create music just like the experience of writing a roller coaster the piece follows the entire experience of writing a roller coaster from the nerves avoiding in line the lip the person the prop and all the TRS in follow as we perform listen to these stages the slow opening section captures the nervous feeling as we get closer to the front of the line the pruss section that demonstrates the first list and the officials start to arrive with thunderous accent within the chaos there are moments of Joy Follow by putting on the breaks to complete our journey come join us for the throw ride [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Music] la oh [Music] la [Music] [Music] [Applause] hello my name is kayen and I play percussion my name is our next piece is maesa by Gary GLE this piece starts as the fastest tempo of the concert and an exciting Melody heard in the grass opens the piece the piece then relax into a slow midle section which offers beautiful counter L from the saxophones and the wars the orinal theme then returns in the low instrument before others join back listen for intense rhy punches that push the pieces almost to a breaking pool instead of breaking down Unity returns as the music comes together in trumpet conclusion [Applause] [Music] la la la la [Music] [Music] w [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] [Music] la [Music] [Applause] thank you all for coming out tonight being such a great audience um I'd like to thanks to our Administration for all of their support uh throughout the year and they do a great job of setting this up and and helping us to keep this thing running all year long um I'd like to thank all of the Valley Middle School staff uh that that uh for their flexibility throughout the year we pull kids from lessons we have kids coming from here and there during advisory so I'd really like to thank the BMS staff for all their support and all their flexibility throughout the year um I'd like to thank custodians they're the ones that set up all these extra pieces of staging and all the chairs that you're seating in tonight uh so I'd really like to thank them as well and uh I'd like to thank you the parents for all of your extra time your commitment your your financial commitment that it takes to put this help put this on your your um attention to making sure they practice and and all those things too and so it it really pays off and you're starting to really see it if you really think back to fifth grade or even last year how much of difference it is right now um is really truly incredible so thank you for your time so kids give your parents a round of applause you don't hear very much and then I'd also like to of course thank our students uh seated behind me they've done a fantastic job this year they've grown so much um and we're really really starting to move forward musically and uh Tech L and everything and so it's it's really a joy to have them we're really excited for the rest of the year um going forward Mr cber is right all those ensembles of su night are open on to adding in more kids after this break so uh if if your child's not a part of those it's just another opportunity for them to play and it makes a huge difference uh cuz they're just playing 25 minutes I know it's not very much but 25 minutes twice more a week than they normally would and it really does make a difference so um anyways thank you for all thank you all for coming today and we'll go on to our next [Applause] speakers hello my name is Addie J and I play the flute and my name is Morgan it's been over 20 years since the first part the Caribbean movie was released but the music from the series has stood the test of time and isly recognizable our version is arranged by Michael Sweeney and it's one of the arrangers of this movie being written after a slow and short introduction the snare drums take it off with the first classical them which moves around the band from the high woodwi down to the one more increasing Tempo serves as a suit to the second Stato theme after you come sail the high seas with us in this final piece we hope you stay home safely thank you for joining us tonight
