[0:05] The city of Apple Valley is partnering [0:07] with Burnsville, the University of [0:09] Minnesota, and the Minnesota Department [0:11] of Natural Resources to study how native [0:13] aquatic plants adapt when transplanted [0:16] into a new lake. As a part of their [0:18] research, Apple Valley's own Ali [0:20] Magagnet Lake has undergone two of these [0:22] plant treatments. The goal is to learn [0:25] how introducing native species into [0:27] lakes can help reduce invasive plants [0:29] like curly leaf pondweed and Eurasian [0:32] watermill foil. The U of M will be [0:34] monitoring how these plants respond to [0:36] their new lake home and assess if any [0:38] other lakes in the city could be used [0:40] for this project in the future.
