[0:00] Hi, I'm Selene Omari and I serve as the [0:02] Egan police chief. So excited to be here [0:05] with you guys. [0:10] Connecting with community and making [0:12] sure that this city stays safe, stays [0:15] vibrant, and remains a place where [0:17] people who live here, work here, and [0:19] visit here uh feel safe and a part of [0:22] this community. The Egan Police [0:23] Department has some of the best police [0:25] officers in the state of Minnesota and [0:26] truly around the country. And I'm so [0:28] excited about working with them, [0:30] learning from them so that we can work [0:32] collectively to make sure we serve [0:33] really, really well. Focusing on staff [0:37] development, making sure that uh our [0:39] people remain the best trained, the best [0:41] equipped, be able to meet the increasing [0:44] demands of our community members, making [0:47] sure our officers spend time with [0:49] community and trying to prevent crimes [0:51] before they occur. So, I really want to [0:53] be able to leverage data and technology [0:56] and trainings. I think at a pretty young [0:59] age, um, I knew that I I couldn't sit at [1:01] a desk all day long and do the same [1:04] thing over and over again. Really, what [1:06] inspired me were a couple of school [1:08] resource officers, one in middle school [1:11] and one in high school, who uh made [1:13] early investments in me and showed me [1:15] what law enforcement and community [1:17] service and community safety really was. [1:20] Helping people is, I think, one of the [1:22] most important things that we can do. [1:24] There's so much humanity and dignity [1:26] with it. That's where my inspiration [1:28] comes from. Um, and it really gives me a [1:30] lot of purpose. [1:31] I love the Minnesota Vikings. Uh, love [1:34] that we have their training facility [1:36] right here in Egan. Really, I'm a family [1:38] first person. I have a wonderful wife of [1:41] a little over 10 years and two little [1:43] daughters who I just love spending time [1:46] with. I just want to say I'm so proud to [1:49] be your police chief. It's a [1:51] responsibility that I don't take lightly [1:53] and I'm going to work so hard to make [1:55] sure that the officers are equipped and [1:59] prepared to serve you at a really high [2:01] level. I'm going to be committed to [2:03] working and making sure that the uh [2:05] foundation that has been u built here in [2:07] Egan that we continue to build on and [2:09] that we continue to make sure that uh [2:11] there's constant growth here in the [2:13] police department and entire city of [2:15] Egan.
