Every year [0:16] we respond to hundreds of vehicle [0:17] accidents and sometimes we provide more [0:19] than just medical care. When a crash [0:22] leaves a vehicle too damaged to open [0:24] normally, our firefighters perform [0:27] what's called auto exertation. Using [0:29] powerful hydraulic tools, often called [0:32] the jaws of life. We carefully cut [0:34] through metal and remove parts of the [0:36] vehicle to reach those trapped inside. [0:39] Using the jaws of life, we can safely [0:41] remove doors, sections of the frame, [0:45] and even the roof to reach those inside. [0:48] Every move we make [screaming] is [0:51] focused on safety, both for our crews [0:53] and for the people in the vehicle. [0:55] Training is a big part of what we do. [0:58] Our crews regularly practice real life [1:00] rescue situations to build speed, [1:03] precision, and confidence with our tools [1:05] and techniques. That preparation means [1:07] when every [music] second counts, we're [1:09] ready to respond safely and get help to [1:11] those who need it most.
