[0:05] HCTV Sports is supported by the [0:08] Spoolhouse. From prom to weddings, let [0:10] us suit your formal wear needs. Culbras [0:13] of Hastings. From savory butter burgers [0:16] to sweet scoops of frozen custard, we've [0:18] got something handcrafted for everyone. [0:27] Making the play. [0:30] He gets a pen. [0:32] >> Raiders are clawing their way back in [0:34] this game. [0:35] >> Just snipes one. [0:37] >> It's over. Safe. Oh my god. Did you see [0:41] that? Great diving play. [0:44] >> He's a touchdown. Hastings Raiders who [0:47] win the ball game. [0:55] >> From Mcamera Stadium at Todd Field. This [0:58] is Minnesota's state high school league [1:00] football for week number three and we [1:02] welcome you to McNamera Stadium at Todd [1:05] Field for Hastings and Chaza. The [1:07] Raiders and the Hawks meeting right here [1:09] on HCTV alongside Owen Elie. I am Nick [1:12] Tuckner and we are back after our week [1:15] one broadcast. The folks up at BEC did a [1:18] wonderful job with the week 2 game. We [1:20] were able to follow along and watch the [1:23] Raiders, oh my goodness, put the screws [1:26] to Bloomington Jefferson putting up over [1:29] 40 points. And not only that, Zack Shady [1:32] Shadic sets a school record in the [1:34] process on the ground. He is over 600 [1:38] yardds in two games when it comes to [1:40] rushing tallies, and he has been some [1:43] sort of a weapon. As we welcome the [1:45] mailman, Owen Elely, into the mix. You [1:48] and I both haven't been able to sit [1:50] still since we left week one. All week [1:52] two did was make us even more hungry for [1:55] tonight. And then you bring a team like [1:57] this ranked in the top 10 to town. This [1:59] is going to be so much fun tonight. [2:01] >> Well, there's no question about it. I [2:02] mean, I have been buzzing all week [2:04] thinking about Friday, especially after [2:05] that Bloomington Jefferson performance. [2:07] This is probably one of the more highly [2:09] anticipated matchups that this team has [2:11] had. And maybe you would know better [2:12] than me, but at least in the time I've [2:14] been here, this really feels like a big [2:16] one. maybe maybe on the precipice of a [2:18] of a of a a big season where maybe you [2:21] compete for Mr. Minnesota, maybe you [2:22] compete to get to the state tournament. [2:24] It really feels like this year could be [2:26] different, but it all starts here [2:27] against the number eight team in 5A [2:29] according to Strip. But for what it's [2:30] worth, the Raiders just on the doorstep [2:32] of that top 10, others receiving votes, [2:35] >> right? So, you're just outside that top [2:37] 10 when it comes to especially Strip, [2:39] but mostly uh throughout the state. You [2:41] look at some of the AP and everything [2:43] else. Same goes, not much difference [2:45] between the rankings here as we get [2:47] ready for this one. The rain is falling [2:49] uh before this game here tonight. We had [2:52] a pretty substantial rain shower move [2:55] through that was a little bit uh [2:57] everlasting it seemed and it stopped [2:59] raining. We were very [3:02] good for a little bit of time, but now [3:05] the rain has again started. And so [3:08] they're going to go ahead and play in [3:10] the rain here, at least to start things [3:13] on HCTV. The Raiders will receive the [3:16] football. That is because the uh coin [3:19] toss was won by Chaza. They will defer [3:22] to the second half. So that's where we [3:24] begin this one. Chaza will be in their [3:27] road white uniforms with the purple [3:29] trim. Very reminiscent to the kids down [3:31] Highway 61 at Redwing High School. [3:36] >> 12 minutes on the scoreboard 38. [3:40] >> Lovin will kick it off right footed [3:42] booter from the 40 left to right on your [3:45] TV screen. [3:47] >> And here we go in the rain at Todd Field [3:50] week three. And the football is in the [3:53] air. The football will be taken just on [3:55] the line off the 10 yd line. Here are [3:56] the Raiders back to the near side [3:58] finding some room too across the 20 to [4:01] the 23 yd line will be Cardinal Herman [4:04] O'Brien. So again, one of those guys [4:06] that have made impacts in all facets [4:08] throughout the season so far. And the [4:10] Raiders, speaking of making impacts, [4:12] will come out with their offense first. [4:15] >> Yeah. And we'll see how this rain plays [4:16] into it. Obviously, it's a very [4:18] rushheavy attack, but uh the the [4:20] quarterback Hansen, 270 passing yards [4:23] through through two games, which you [4:25] know, doesn't sound like a lot for [4:26] college or football, but at this level, [4:28] you know, we always say it, that's [4:29] that's a pretty prolific passer right [4:30] there. You got to figure he's only going [4:31] to get better as the season goes on. [4:33] We'll see what he has in store here for [4:34] game three. [4:35] >> Hansen sets two men in motion to the [4:37] right side, stacked off the line, men in [4:39] motion across the line. Burkin is a hand [4:41] off to Sheney. Gets through the first [4:44] initial burst at the line of scrimmage [4:46] across the 25 to about the 30 with a [4:49] little slip and slide on the turf here. [4:51] And like Owens said, we're going to have [4:52] to keep an eye on the turf and how that [4:55] might affect the game, especially early [4:57] on. [4:58] >> Now, everybody knows about the big [5:00] performance from Shadic against [5:01] Bloomington Jefferson, but there were [5:02] plenty of other players that had great [5:04] performances. Grant Burken 75 yd uh [5:06] kickoff return in the in the fourth [5:08] quarter of that game. And plenty of [5:09] players deserve their their roses from [5:11] that one. [5:11] >> We're definitely going to talk about [5:12] that play throughout this game tonight. [5:14] Here's a handoff Shadic. He runs into a [5:17] stout wall at the line. Not many times [5:20] >> this year that we have said Shadic [5:22] stopped at the line, but that's what [5:24] happens right there. It'll be third down [5:26] about five. Did get about half two [5:30] yards. Manny Hill says [5:34] >> wonderful PA announcer here at Todd [5:36] Field. And while the Raiders have a [5:38] great rush or a great passing attack as [5:40] well, you got to figure for Chesca, it [5:41] starts and stops with Shady Shadock and [5:44] stopping him. [5:45] >> That also means that a couple of the [5:47] other Raiders will need to step up in [5:49] certain situations and make their [5:51] presence felt as Shadock takes the [5:54] pitch, backs into the line, tries to get [5:56] close to the first down. He's short by 2 [5:58] and 1/2 yards. It's going to be fourth [6:01] down and the Raiders right now decision [6:04] time and it looks like Hansen still on [6:07] the field talking with Coach Cook and he [6:09] will remain on the field. Fourth down [6:11] about a yard. All right, big play early [6:14] on for Hastings offensively. [6:18] >> You got to figure similarly to the new [6:20] Prag game that possessions and uh [6:24] scoring plays are going to come at a [6:25] premium here. [6:26] >> Fourth down, one yardd to go. The [6:28] Raiders hand off Shadic. He will maybe [6:30] just get enough for the first down. [6:33] Shedenko saying yes. It looks like the [6:35] official spotted him right on the 35. [6:37] That's a first down. Yes. Move the [6:39] chains. Raiders on fourth down early. Go [6:42] for it at home. You got to like that [6:45] early on. Just showing some faith in the [6:47] boys after a 2 and 0 start. [6:49] >> Well, that's what it is. It's confidence [6:50] and it's faith in your team. And I [6:52] always love clearly that was a first [6:53] down, but you never see the defense [6:55] saying that it was a first down. You [6:56] never see the offense saying it wasn't. [6:58] I just love those situations. [7:00] >> Raiders get the first down. Hansen on a [7:02] roll out. Right side intercepted. Threw [7:04] it into a posi of purple. Right side [7:06] interception. Chaza 30 25 breaks a [7:09] tackle. 20 15 10 five down to two. [7:16] Hansen picked off and a great return [7:18] nonetheless on the play as number 26 [7:23] Maxwell Eckle with the interception [7:28] and a big start for the Chaza defense. [7:32] So, Apple, the 5'8, 155, 150 lb [7:37] defensive back, makes a big play here. [7:41] And the Raiders in some trouble early. [7:45] >> Well, and it and it felt like that was a [7:47] passing play. We have to pass the ball. [7:49] But if it's a passing play, you [7:51] certainly can just tuck and run. You [7:52] don't have to feel forced to to throw [7:54] the ball there. And and you know, the [7:56] receiver, none of the receivers were [7:57] open sometimes in plays like that. You [7:59] just got to take a zero. [8:01] >> Yep. [8:03] Raiders still trying to hope to hang a [8:06] zero here. [8:07] >> Matthew Welter. 67 210 lb quarterback [8:11] under center. Yes. 67. [8:14] Man in motion to the left side. And [8:16] he'll keep it himself at the 67. QB is [8:19] in for a two-yd touchdown run. [8:22] >> Matthew Welter. A twoyd run makes it 6 [8:26] nothing. [8:27] Chesa [8:29] >> and a just easy off fake handoff. [8:32] >> Thought about the trap instead keeps it. [8:34] Boy, 6'7 in tall. Not much the Raiders [8:38] are going to do about that here this [8:39] evening. [8:42] >> Well, it doesn't get bigger than uh 67 [8:44] right there. But that is a nightmare [8:47] start here for Hastings after they they [8:49] had confidence in the in the team. They [8:50] got that, you know, critical fourth down [8:52] in their own territory. And that is not [8:54] how you want to start what figures to be [8:56] a a close game here. [8:58] >> Lamman, freshman kicker, 59, 150, [9:02] right-footed kicker. He kicked off as [9:03] well for Jaza. [9:06] The holder is Sam Summer. He waits. [9:08] Senior Dback. [9:10] Long call, long wait. Still no snap. [9:14] Whistle blows. Now we're set. Snap high. [9:18] Pulled down beautifully. Kick is up and [9:19] the freshman hits it. And it's 7 [9:22] nothing. Chaska early on here on [9:25] Hastings Community Television. So, not a [9:29] long drive by any means and the little [9:34] >> quarterback keeper here working off the [9:36] left side. Kind of split the guard and [9:39] the tackle as he gets in there. And [9:41] >> boy, he's going to be an issue. He's a [9:42] big guy. You don't see, you know, [9:45] quarterbacks in high school at 6'7 in [9:48] tall. [9:50] Well, and we've we've seen Hastings at [9:52] times struggle with bigger runners. They [9:54] they figured it out later in that new [9:56] Prag game, but it was something that [9:57] kind of carved him up a little bit. So, [9:59] at least it's it's something that [10:00] they're not unfamiliar with, but he's he [10:02] certainly figures to be a a problem [10:04] here. And just an aside, just from the [10:06] the pregame watching the the the special [10:08] teams, it seems like Chesa's got a [10:10] pretty good special teams uh as well, it [10:13] looked like their their range in uh in [10:15] pregame was about 45 yards for a field [10:17] goal. So hopefully this is a close game [10:20] here and that might factor in as well. [10:22] >> Pretty rainy in the early going to as [10:24] Loin's kick end over end. This will be [10:27] taken by Carter Herman O'Brien right [10:30] side 10 to the 15 down at the 17. Didn't [10:32] even get out to the 20 yd line and a big [10:35] hit there on special teams by Chaska and [10:39] number 44 Carter Powers a 6'4 195 lb [10:43] junior. They growing pretty big down [10:45] there in Chesa. And another big play for [10:48] the Hawks on the road here at Hastings [10:50] trying to take away a little bit of this [10:53] energy that the team has gotten over the [10:55] first two weeks. [10:56] >> Yeah, it's funny. There's just football [10:58] programs that are known for their size, [11:00] you know, whether it's Shaska or Still [11:01] Water. Sometimes they just make them a [11:03] little different around the cities. But [11:04] you're right. We need the Raiders to get [11:06] some sort of positive play here to try [11:07] to stop the bleeding here early on. [11:11] >> 9:05 to go. We're just underway. First [11:14] quarter already 7 nothing. And this is [11:16] the Hastings Raiders second offensive [11:18] drive as Shannik will rumble for a yard [11:21] maybe two under nine to play as the [11:23] clock will run. 7 nothing your score as [11:26] Chaza leads here on MCTV. [11:30] >> You know, and this is why I liked that [11:32] that passing play. I didn't necessarily [11:33] like the pass in that situation, but you [11:35] know, you are going to have to stretch [11:36] the field a little bit because as good [11:38] as Shadic is, the entire focus of this [11:41] defense is going to be stopping a guy [11:43] who, you know, is just a total game [11:45] wrecker. [11:46] >> Tight formation again for Hastings and [11:49] they'll pitch it out left. Shadic 2025 [11:53] to the 26 and that's where he will be [11:56] taken down after [11:58] >> a modest gain on the play. will say gain [12:01] of about three. [12:03] >> Oh, Matty says six. [12:06] >> That wasn't even close to what the uh TV [12:08] guy said. Third down and a long two here [12:11] with 806 to play. First quarter, Hawks [12:14] up 7 nothing. [12:16] >> And obviously he's got the nickname [12:17] Shady, but you do have to wonder with [12:19] this slippery wet field here, is that [12:21] going to impact, you know, some of his [12:23] elusiveness? He's still going to have [12:25] it, but you know, a slip here, a slip [12:26] there might change things in the run [12:28] game. But if we're calling him slippery [12:30] shady, that might be a good thing. We'll [12:32] have to wait and see. Here's a handoff [12:34] and we're going to get a whistle. This [12:35] might be delay of game against the [12:38] Raiders. [12:40] >> False start against the Raiders. [12:42] >> False start instead. [12:44] >> I'm 0 for two on prognostication early [12:46] on. That's wonderful. [12:50] >> We'll we'll blame it on the angle up [12:51] here. [12:52] >> That's right. That's right. Uh, speaking [12:53] of the angle, as I look across the [12:55] field, not as big of a crowd as what [12:57] Newreg brought, but they've been vocal [12:59] far side to JSA fans, but look at our [13:01] Hastings student section. As full as it [13:04] gets ever here at Todd Field. Not only [13:06] that, decked out in pink for tackle [13:08] cancer. Third down, seven to go for [13:11] Hastings after the penalty. Hansen on [13:13] the roll. He will send it to Foss at the [13:16] 20. Falls ahead 25 to the 30. 35 out of [13:19] bounds there. First down. Raiders. Great [13:21] catch, but not even you can't even talk [13:23] about that without talking about what he [13:25] did after the catch because he shook a [13:27] big tackle, found enough yardage for the [13:30] first down, and then some to give the [13:31] Raiders some breathing room. [13:32] >> Oh, there's no question. I mean, you're [13:35] reliant on Yak right there. Maybe maybe [13:37] we start calling him slippery FS. I [13:39] don't know if it rolls off the tongue, [13:40] but it certainly was uh was true right [13:42] there. [13:44] >> Raiders down seven, but on the run here [13:47] offensively, second drive of the game. [13:50] Opening touchdown came on a two-yd drive [13:53] of the 6-7 quarterback plunging in for [13:56] two yards and the score. Here's Shady [13:58] again back to the line. Throw it [13:59] backwards. Might have lost a yard. Yeah, [14:01] he might have got to the line. We'll [14:03] >> see. Looks like left foot spot will give [14:04] him a short gain [14:07] inside of a yard. [14:11] >> And this is this is very early on. But [14:13] what I'm what I'm noticing about this [14:14] Chaza defense there, there's no holes in [14:16] this defense. There's no lanes for Shady [14:18] to use here. It's making it [14:20] exceptionally hard for him. He could try [14:22] to cut to the outside, but it seems like [14:23] they've done a really good job at just [14:25] trying to contain him at the line of [14:27] scrimmage. [14:28] >> You really see that Chaza [14:31] very sound in their fundamentals, [14:33] especially in the front seven. Handoff [14:35] here is Shadic. He gets popped popped [14:38] ahead to gain another half a yard or so, [14:41] but a total of about three or four on [14:43] the run. It's going to be third down and [14:44] again, you know, not too long, but the [14:48] Raiders approaching midfield here and a [14:51] little slow to get up here. One of the [14:54] Chaza players and this might be one of [14:56] those cramp things, too, is [14:58] Matias, the 6'25 linebacker down. And [15:03] with the humidity, the warmth early on [15:06] and really throughout this week, you're [15:08] going to get those nights where the uh [15:11] the cramps are a little more pronounced [15:14] and I think that's exactly what we're [15:16] getting right now with Matias. So [15:19] hopefully they can just work on him here [15:21] and Matias kind of stretching too kind [15:23] of just wants to get that little piece [15:26] out of there and [15:28] feel that nerve whatever is bothering [15:30] him. [15:32] Gramps are I mean you're totally right [15:33] about the conditions as we get a look at [15:35] the head coach there here for for [15:37] Hastings Dana Strain but [15:41] I mean you're you're totally right about [15:43] even if it's even if it's cold it seems [15:44] like cramps are always they're always an [15:46] issue you always got to stay hydrated [15:48] there's never a time where where you [15:49] can't be hydrated and [15:52] >> you never like to see injuries but at [15:55] least a lot of these are cramps where [15:56] you know the player probably is going to [15:58] come back in. It's not something overly [16:01] serious. [16:02] >> And really, one thing I I'd learned in [16:04] college, especially from our trainers, [16:07] was that things like Gatorade are not [16:09] going to do it. You're going to need [16:10] some water. Oldfashioned water, some [16:12] electrolyte, like a banana water, some [16:15] sort of coconut water, something like [16:17] that. Watermelon's another good one. [16:19] But, uh, but that, you know, that's [16:22] Gatorade stuff's not exactly all it's [16:24] cracked up to be for these kids that are [16:26] active. Third down and five. four it [16:28] says on the board, but it's a long four. [16:30] Here's the pitch out. Shadic trying to [16:32] get outside, finds a little room, gains [16:35] a little bit of yardage, maybe two. So, [16:38] it's going to be fourth down and short [16:40] again. The Raiders are one for one on [16:42] fourth down here this evening. [16:44] >> And with 538 to go, the punting team [16:47] will come in this time as they're going [16:49] to say he only got one there, so he must [16:51] have stepped out just a little bit [16:53] early. [16:54] That will make the decision much easier. [16:57] As we look at Shadex's yards per carry, [16:59] just under 10, eight touchdowns and like [17:01] we said, now over 600 yardds here on the [17:05] season through two and a quarter games [17:08] so far. Raiders back in punt formation. [17:13] Snap good. Arnes's kick end over end. [17:16] This is going to be pretty decent with [17:17] the roll. They'll be picked up on the [17:19] run near side and taken down at the 36 [17:22] yd line. [17:25] Will be the [17:27] ever involved so far tonight. Number 26 [17:29] Maxwell Apple who had the big [17:31] interception and the return that got the [17:34] Hawks down inside the two. [17:37] >> First down for Chaza. And now we're [17:39] going to get a little longer look we [17:41] hope at Chesa. [17:43] >> 13 by 26. Well, now the onus here is on [17:47] this Raiders defense. Again, it's it's [17:49] very early in the game, but you [17:50] certainly don't want to go down two [17:52] possessions. It's going to be a critical [17:53] drive here for this Raiders defense to [17:55] see how they can handle the the Hawks [17:57] offense. [17:57] >> They got to reset the chains here. [18:02] >> Handoff will go right side. Weren't even [18:05] really ready on the play. Short game [18:07] though. Good job by the Hastings [18:08] defense, including Keller in on that [18:11] tackle. [18:12] >> Hand out the number 20, Justin. 20. Ray [18:15] House getting the carry this time. [18:18] >> Gain of three. [18:20] >> Second and seven. [18:21] >> Second down and seven. Grey House is [18:23] here. Two touchdowns. Averaging 5.5 yds [18:26] per carry. So, he's still getting a good [18:28] slice every time he touches the ball. [18:30] Man in motion to the far side. They're [18:32] going to keep on the option up the [18:34] middle. Sell the handoff, keep the [18:36] football as a big quarterback, and just [18:38] churn ahead. This reminds me a lot of [18:41] Zack Reedman's years at Forest Lake. And [18:44] I know anybody that's followed Raider [18:46] football, especially back in the old uh [18:49] suburban East Conference, as there's [18:50] Matthew Welter right there, too. Boy, [18:52] the big fella so far this year with [18:54] those three rushing touchdowns, but [18:56] really doesn't have a whole bunch of [18:58] passing yards. The Raider run defense [18:59] knowing they're going to have a long [19:01] night at the office here. It's third [19:02] down and two. [19:04] kind of a wing tee this time as the [19:06] handoff goes up the middle and this will [19:08] be a carry for a first down just enough [19:10] about a yard [19:13] >> Justin great house the sophomore back [19:16] >> you know and sorry to go back a play [19:18] here but on that run by by Welter you [19:21] know that's that's the advantage of [19:22] having a big quarterback like that [19:24] because they made the tackle but he was [19:26] so big they had to pull him towards the [19:28] Raiders defense and he got an extra two [19:30] or three yards whereas if he was smaller [19:32] you could try to drive him back and stop [19:34] is his momentum. [19:35] >> He had a heck of a lot of that from the [19:37] backfield onward. Left to right is [19:39] another man in motion. This time keeping [19:41] the football is the quarterback and the [19:43] Raiders get like three or four guys on [19:46] him. But man, Welter still carries the [19:48] fellas for about four maybe five yards [19:51] depending on the spot. Manny says three, [19:53] but man where the spot they gave him up [19:55] the far side looks four yards or so. [19:57] Man, the big quarterback you just got to [19:59] jump and hope he falls down, slips on [20:01] the turf, whatever. Well, that's exactly [20:03] what I'm saying. I mean, the Raiders [20:04] historically, they've always been really [20:06] good at at tackling, whether it's open [20:08] field or certainly gang uh tackling, but [20:11] when you got a quarterback as big as [20:12] that, even a play that should be a yard [20:14] turns into four. [20:16] >> Welter has CIA off the right side as a [20:19] wing back. One to the left, Belmont. [20:23] >> Single back. Nope. Keeping it. Welter [20:25] trying to burst up the left side and [20:28] chug along here. He'll gain another [20:30] four. It's going to be third down and [20:32] about two here. So, Welter doing quite a [20:35] bit of the offensive damage, but nothing [20:38] too flashy here out of the Chesa Hawks. [20:41] This is not exactly football that uh the [20:44] everyday high school football fan is [20:46] going to enjoy, but it's very effective. [20:48] >> Well, it's very tailored to the players [20:50] you have. I mean, they're just running [20:51] their quarterback like a juggernaut. If [20:53] you have a juggernaut, it makes sense [20:55] that they're that they're playing like [20:56] this. [20:57] >> Joe Barah splits out wide to the right [20:59] this time. Now a pass and that is going [21:01] to go to Jabra. He makes the catch. 40 [21:03] yd line down to the 36 yd line. First [21:05] down and a first down for the Chesco [21:08] Hawks at 241 to go here in the first [21:11] quarter and it's 7 nothing Chaska. And [21:14] they continue to move the football here [21:16] on this drive. Eating a little bit of [21:19] clock. Boy, they are as advertised, [21:21] aren't they? 7 nothing here. The Hawks [21:23] lead. [21:24] >> That was a great example of open field [21:26] tackling there from from Arnest. But [21:27] yeah, you had to figure at some point [21:29] they were going to open up the the pass [21:30] game just with all this all these [21:32] different variations of runs up the [21:34] middle of the the offensive line there. [21:36] Joe Pero will go out to the left side. [21:38] Man in motion to the back field instead [21:40] the handoff on the trap up the middle of [21:42] right side. Will gain about two maybe [21:44] three yards. Great house and about the [21:46] 31. That's where he'll go down. Better [21:48] gain than maybe I had thought in the [21:50] first place. So 31 yd line. That's a [21:52] good gain of about 5 yards. [21:55] >> So 205 clock running here. Chaska doing [21:58] their thing. Running the football [21:59] effectively chewing up the clock trying [22:02] to limit Hastings offensive possessions. [22:04] So far for the Hawks. So good. [22:08] Again, Welter, the big QB, 6'7 in, 210 [22:11] lbs. Hands off. Great house up the [22:13] middle. Raiders had one man on him for [22:16] just a moment. Kind of blasted him [22:18] backwards on that tackle for Hastings. [22:20] Initially was Xavier Tim and then he got [22:23] some help there from a couple of his [22:25] buddies here. as we look at the rest of [22:27] that play and joined in on the party of [22:29] course Estre who's had a tremendous [22:31] season defensively so far for the [22:33] Raiders [22:34] >> and when they're methodically moving [22:35] down the field like this just getting [22:37] three four five yards of play it would [22:39] be so beneficial just to get a negative [22:41] play for Hastings if somebody can just [22:43] get an early jump if somebody can make [22:44] something happen just put them behind [22:46] the sticks obviously critical spot on [22:48] the field here I believe they could make [22:50] a field goal from this position if they [22:52] don't get the first down [22:53] >> I formation Davis the upback this time. [22:55] The give is the great house and he'll [22:57] turn ahead for said first down as we hit [23:00] right about a minute to play here in [23:02] this first quarter. And again, just [23:04] methodical. This is what they do. 13, [23:07] 14, 15 plays, drives that end in scores. [23:10] And whether it's three or six or seven [23:12] or whatever it ends up being, this is [23:14] what Chaza has made their existence on [23:17] since they split from Chanhass a few [23:19] years back. [23:21] And you saw in that last play, Barrett [23:23] Boardman just blew up through the line [23:25] there. He was in the He was in the wrong [23:26] gap where they were running, but he's [23:28] going to make a big play here pretty [23:30] soon. Handoff up the middle, great house [23:32] and just some power running. Little late [23:34] shenanigans there rolling along the far [23:36] side and that was including [23:40] >> one of the Rainers. [23:42] >> I think that was Keller that was in [23:44] there trying to make a play. It was the [23:46] junior linebacker. Second and three. [23:48] >> Second down, three yds to go. Could be [23:51] the final play. Might not even be as the [23:53] clock is running. They're going to hold [23:54] off, I think, and go down on the other [23:56] end. I don't think they're going to even [23:58] Yep. They're not going to even take [23:59] another play here, folks. Coaches are [24:00] calling Chaska off the field. That's a [24:03] quick first quarter of play. And the [24:05] Raiders get two drives. Chaza trying to [24:08] move on their second inside the red zone [24:11] as a score. Chaska seven Hastings [24:14] nothing here at the end of the first [24:16] quarter. We'll be back with more in just [24:18] a moment on Hastings Community [24:20] Television. That's the end of the first [24:22] quarter with the score. [24:30] >> He gets a pin. [24:33] What a move. What a goal. Oh, what a [24:35] shot. Scores the Raiders. Can they get [24:37] the lift? Yes, they do. [24:40] Just snipes one. [24:42] >> Oh my god. [24:45] and reaching up and making the play. [24:49] >> It's moving over. [24:51] >> Looking to throw and she's going to get [24:53] the first down. [24:54] >> Gone. Touchdown Raiders. [24:57] [Applause] [25:11] [Music] [25:27] [Music] [25:35] run it as we welcome you all back to [25:37] Todd Field down to the 10 yd line. the [25:40] big QB. [25:41] >> He will move the chains. That's a first [25:44] down with 1154 to go here. The first [25:46] play of the second quarter where the [25:48] first half and now the sunshine is back. [25:52] Funny thing though, Owen just mentioned [25:54] it's back just in time to be in the [25:55] Raiders faces. You're not kidding. [25:58] >> Yeah, they're going to have to overcome [25:59] this. Luckily, I don't think they're [26:00] going to be passing the ball, so it [26:02] might not hurt you as much as as in that [26:04] situation. [26:05] >> This time they'll give it off in the [26:07] back field. A great tackle up the far [26:10] right side after a gain of five. Great [26:13] house there, but a great tackle by [26:15] Bicil. And again, that textbook [26:18] wrestling style of tackling where you're [26:20] not going anywhere. [26:22] >> And this is just such a a slow, [26:24] methodical offense here for for Chesa. [26:27] You know, it's reminiscent of of the [26:28] Gophers offense, you know, where they [26:30] just run the ball 10, 15 times, take up [26:34] a whole quarter running the ball. I [26:35] mean, they have a distinct brand of [26:37] football. It might not be the most [26:38] exciting, but boy is it effective when [26:40] it's when you get downhill. [26:42] >> This one is handed off. Great house. [26:44] He's bottled up right around the five. [26:47] Great play there by Hastings stepping in [26:50] and making the stop there. Is is that 62 [26:53] or is that 82? We don't have a 62 on our [26:57] roster here tonight. [27:00] And we don't have an 82 for that matter. [27:01] So that's interesting. We'll find that [27:03] out from Dick Craig coming up here [27:06] >> at halftime. [27:08] >> Mystery player out there. [27:09] >> We have a mystery. [27:12] >> Might have been a Jersey staff move [27:14] before the game. We'll figure it out [27:16] here in a moment. Third down and go from [27:19] the three. Here's Welter. Man in motion. [27:22] He wants to run up the middle. He's not [27:24] going to get there. He's down to about [27:26] the half yardd line. This is going to be [27:29] fourth down and goal and I mean inches. [27:33] So here's the deal. If the Raiders can [27:37] stop him, Chaza might be content with [27:39] the fact that the Raiders got to go 99 [27:41] yds as we take a peek here at the [27:43] Raiders stacking that lineup in the 67 [27:46] quarterback. And here comes Welter [27:48] again. This is going to be right over [27:49] the top. This is going to be a [27:50] quarterback sneak right up the middle. [27:53] Raiders got to find a way. Knocking on [27:56] the door. Jas 7 nothing and there's [27:58] Welter in the big fella just worms his [28:01] way into the end zone. [28:03] >> I was going to say you got to watch out [28:04] for 77 Reggie Derek 6'5 345 lb left [28:09] guard. You can see that's exactly who he [28:11] follows right there. They got some [28:13] gigantic offensive linemen on this team [28:16] and and boy that that's so beneficial in [28:19] in the goal line situations. [28:21] >> We call that over at Pax and Prescott a [28:24] sight of beef. Extra [28:27] point attempt coming up. The young [28:29] freshman kicker Lmen back in right [28:32] footer again. Waits number 38 right to [28:35] left and he kicks it end over end [28:37] through the uprights and that makes it [28:39] 14 nothing. Chas with the lead by [28:44] number. [28:45] >> So Raiders [28:47] >> going to have to start doing a little [28:49] bit of math here as we watch again the [28:53] sneak across that left guard. Perfect [28:55] play there. But you got to score here [28:59] pretty soon because Chaska deferred [29:02] early. They found a way to get the [29:04] football back, turn it into their own [29:06] score. They get the ball to start the [29:08] second half. There's already only 938 to [29:11] go in the half. So Hastings has to have [29:14] some semblance of a little bit of early [29:17] urgency here. I hate to say it like [29:19] that, but with a team like you've said [29:20] that plays that boring brand of [29:22] football, a 14-point lead could be a [29:24] death nail to a team that can't get back [29:26] in the game. It's very important right [29:28] now. [29:29] >> Well, here's the thing, Tuck, too. [29:30] You're totally correct with that. But [29:32] they also need the composure to know [29:33] that they're probably not going to be [29:35] leading at halftime. This might be a a [29:36] rest of the game type of thing cuz they [29:38] are going to have long drives. It's [29:41] going to be frustrating. You have to [29:42] stay within yourself as well in addition [29:44] to knowing possessions are going to be [29:46] limited in this game. inside turnovers [29:47] tonight. So important, folks. Here's a [29:50] short kick. Up man will take it and this [29:53] one will be brought up the left side and [29:55] there's a flag that comes in as well as [29:57] the Raiders trying to horse themselves [29:59] to the 39 yd line. I'm wondering who [30:02] just where they threw it in. It looks [30:04] like it's going to be the RA against the [30:05] Raiders. Grant Berken. Now, you want to [30:07] kick it short, fine. But Grant Berkin [30:09] took him back 75 to the house last week. [30:11] And I don't think my voice has uh left [30:14] the ceilings at my house because I [30:17] alongside Bubs were going absolutely [30:20] bonkers watching Burken bring that back. [30:23] He's a special player and he can do a [30:24] little bit of everything. [30:26] >> Yeah, you absolutely do not want to be [30:27] kicking it to that guy right there. He's [30:29] basically a kick returner as an up back [30:31] >> and just he's got that length. He's got, [30:34] you know, the the wherewithal [30:35] defensively where it's a face mask. You [30:38] see a face mask or a co [30:42] Either way, it's going to move the [30:43] Raiders back quite a bit. [30:46] >> It is holding good. I looked like a face [30:48] mask at first, but it was holding. It'll [30:50] be at the 25. Raiders will have 75 to [30:53] Painter. [30:55] >> Now, if you're Hastings, you know, like [30:56] you said, this is going to be a a [30:58] gamelong battle probably. It's not like [31:00] you got to march down in two minutes. [31:02] You put together one of those drives [31:03] you've been known for all year. [31:07] couple of those drives last week against [31:09] Jefferson. [31:11] Double-digit plays. Here is Berkin. He [31:13] tried to use him there and he'll get [31:15] thrown ahead and helmet comes off. Might [31:18] have gained a half a yard if he's lucky. [31:21] >> Raiders kind of tried a little bit of [31:22] everything here early on. [31:26] >> Well, and and and to go along with what [31:27] you've been saying, I mean, it's it's so [31:29] true. I mean, you know, there's no [31:30] 14-point play. You're not getting back [31:32] in one play, two plays, probably, you [31:35] know, 10 or 20 plays. I mean, this is [31:37] going to be a game-long battle against a [31:39] team like who a team that plays this [31:41] sort of style. [31:45] >> But it is it is not going to be [31:46] beneficial to get behind the sticks like [31:48] you are right here. [31:50] >> 853 to go. Clock runs. Second quarter, [31:54] first half. Raiders down 14- nothing. [31:56] Hand off. Shady trying to get outside. [31:58] Back to the 25. Flag on the play as [32:00] well. One of the Raiders though were [32:02] picking himself up off the ground. the [32:04] long barrier. [32:05] >> I'm curious to see if this is against [32:07] the Raiders or not because like I said, [32:09] it looked like the Raider was the one [32:11] picking himself up off the turf. This [32:13] might be some sort of a defensive [32:15] holding ball. [32:18] >> Now he's Now he's motioning over to [32:23] the Shaska coach. [32:29] Oh no. Yeah, Raiders didn't need another [32:32] one of those. Raiders have been fairly [32:35] disciplined throughout the year. Not as [32:38] much tonight. [32:40] >> That's why I'm saying the composure is [32:41] so important when you're when you're [32:43] down in a situation like this as well. [32:44] And now, you know, having a tough time [32:47] getting shad at going down field. Now [32:48] you might be forced into some pass [32:50] situations right here. [32:56] >> Raiders though can pass. We know that. [33:00] One split out line to the left. That's [33:01] Foss. Handoff goes to Shady across the [33:05] 20 back to about the 23 and now we got [33:08] third and exceptionally long. Call it a [33:11] 12 or so. [33:14] >> Not a good spot for Hastings to be in, [33:16] especially noting there's 722 to go in a [33:19] first half where at the end of the half, [33:22] Chaza is going to get the ball to start [33:24] the second half. But we do not need the [33:26] Hawks scoring any more points until the [33:28] Raiders find a way to get on the board [33:30] themselves and make this a game again. [33:32] >> And it's tough too with with Strain out [33:34] now out out on the field. Obviously Fost [33:36] is a great receiver and they and I'm [33:37] sure they have great, you know, three [33:39] and four wide receivers, but Fost is the [33:41] only one that they've really been able [33:42] to connect to through the first two [33:44] games and some change. [33:45] >> Marlo Strain of course injured in the [33:47] opening game. One of the first plays [33:49] offensively for the Raiders is this [33:51] incomplete pass will set up fourth down [33:53] in a punting situation for Hastings deep [33:57] inside their own zone. Now with 650 to [34:00] go here in the first half and it just [34:02] looked like kind of a panic throw there. [34:04] He knew that he wasn't going to get out [34:06] of the grasp of the oncoming tackler. [34:08] Tried to make something positive happen [34:11] and in a third and long situation a lot [34:12] of times that's not going to be [34:14] successful. [34:15] And I I like Burkin and I like his [34:17] yakability, but in a situation like that [34:19] where he needs 10 or 12 with three [34:21] defenders closing in on him, not a good [34:23] formula. [34:23] >> And such sure tacklers. There's a great [34:26] punt by Arnes. Back to the 35 of Chaza [34:31] to the 40. Right side 45 bump backwards. [34:34] Was that Bicel? It had to have been the [34:36] way he tackled him and speared him. [34:37] Yeah, the Brock Lesnar spear from Blake [34:41] Bicel. And I'm not shocked one bit. just [34:43] shot in there like a bullet. What a punt [34:45] by Arnest. That was a thunder punt. [34:48] Brought him all the way back and look, [34:50] he almost slipped. If you would have [34:51] fell down there, you would have down at [34:52] the 35 yd line. [34:54] >> You needed that. You needed anything to [34:55] go your way. Even though you don't want [34:56] to be punting the ball, you needed [34:58] something to go your way. Now, Chuck, I [35:00] don't want to scare you here, but you [35:01] really got to make sure this doesn't [35:03] turn into a 28 nothing ball game, cuz [35:06] that's kind of where where it's leading. [35:07] If they score here and they get the ball [35:09] in the third quarter, you need something [35:11] defensively here. anything, a strip [35:13] sack, an interception, [35:14] >> it could unravel very fast. And right [35:18] here, a carry for Welter. And he just [35:21] tries to bully his way to the 50 yd [35:24] line. He will be just short of that. [35:26] Maybe the 48. He's trying to hone [35:28] himself a couple extra yards with a [35:30] little roll in that 67 frame getting off [35:32] the turf. He's kind of kind of reaching [35:34] out. Hey, I got up right here. But he [35:37] still gets five. And it's second down. a [35:39] long five short six here with 608 to [35:42] play first half. [35:43] >> Well, this is what the Raiders did so [35:45] well through the first two games, not [35:46] having any negative plays. And that's [35:48] you're kind of seeing Chaza do the same [35:49] thing. They're not getting stuffed at [35:51] the line of scrimmage. [35:53] >> Looked like somebody moved early on the [35:56] Chaza side. I want to see the near side [35:58] offensive line here, guys. [36:01] that or he got off the ball that well, [36:03] but it looked like the near side as we [36:05] look at the field, that offensive [36:06] lineman here looked to get off the ball [36:09] a little fast, but they got away with [36:11] one and only gained one. So, great [36:13] scenario here for Hastings now. Third [36:15] down, five. Hasn't been many third and [36:18] five. A lot of it's been third and [36:19] short. Third and one, third and two. [36:21] Let's make a play. 527 to go. Clock [36:23] running. First half, second quarter here [36:25] at Top Field on a Friday night, week [36:27] three of the Minnesota football season. [36:29] Here's a pitch out right side to one of [36:31] the receivers. He'll get a first down, [36:32] too. [36:34] >> Pitched out. And again, a fell that [36:37] hasn't touched the ball game. Luke [36:39] Razer, a sophomore wide receiver, [36:43] >> makes the play. And boy, some of these [36:46] young kids are making huge plays as you [36:48] look at Razer find his way to the right [36:50] side. And [36:50] >> it seems like the Raiders defenders were [36:52] waiting for him to come to them as [36:54] opposed to stepping in and trying to [36:56] meet him short of the line to gain [36:58] there. And and that's what happens. You [36:59] get a full head of steam and you take a [37:01] defender with you. First down Chesa. [37:03] >> The one thing you can get kind of [37:04] suckered into as a running going against [37:07] a running team as we'll talk here now is [37:10] that pass right there right side is a [37:13] sneaky post that could come out of [37:16] nowhere. And is this going to be a [37:17] roughing the passer? I sure hope not. [37:22] Well, I don't know because right now [37:24] Welter kind of hung his head. He might [37:25] have had a hold to help him get that [37:28] ball out of there. [37:30] >> Well, speaking of penalties, Tuck, I [37:31] wanted to to mention this. Both teams, [37:34] as it's a holding against Chesa, both [37:36] teams are getting very overzealous with [37:38] the blocking, especially after the play. [37:40] And I can just see this playing out. One [37:42] of these teams, as we get a look at the [37:44] a beautiful pass, really just a little [37:46] off the mark. One of these teams is [37:48] going to get hit with an unnecessary [37:49] roughness for blocking a little too [37:51] after. And boy, you just hope it's not [37:53] the Hastings considering [37:56] you don't want to give this team a [37:57] freebie the way they're moving. [37:58] >> Especially a lot of times the retaliator [38:01] will be the one that will probably be [38:03] seen most of the time. Here's the [38:06] keeper. Oh, Welter finds a hole and he [38:09] gets through and he is gone. 20110 five [38:14] the big man a long touchdown of 52 yds [38:18] and the Raiders are on life support in [38:21] the first half. [38:23] [Music] [38:25] [Applause] [38:29] >> Well, this is very quickly turning into [38:30] the Matthew Welter show. That's three [38:32] first half rushing touchdowns. We'll get [38:35] another look at it right here. and he's [38:38] he's as slippery as Matt Foss was in the [38:40] in the first quarter there that just [38:42] everybody's on the right and couple of [38:45] players bang into each other there for [38:47] Hastings and then you got a 5'10 [38:50] quarterback trying to take down a 6'7 [38:52] quarterback and this game is getting out [38:55] of hand very quickly here for Hastings. [38:58] >> Snap spot Lamman puts it through again [39:00] and the freshman's three of three. It's [39:02] 21 nothing. Now, I was mentioning this [39:05] earlier to you Raider fans out there. [39:09] When you watched football in the [39:11] suburban East, you know, 8 9 10 12 years [39:15] ago, and we'd play Forest Lake, there [39:18] was their quarterback who his name was [39:20] Zack Reedman. He was 6'6 in tall as [39:23] we're watching uh Welter just run to the [39:26] house. But that's what Zack Reedman [39:28] would do. He was 66. He was a small [39:30] forward on the basketball team. He was [39:32] the first baseman on the baseball team. [39:35] He was a guy that was tall, long, lanky, [39:38] wasn't that fast. But boy, when he got [39:40] going, he looked like a deer running. [39:42] And right there, that's what we saw out [39:43] of Welter. And man, if I'm having [39:46] flashbacks, I'm sorry, folks, but that [39:48] is an identical offensive setup to what [39:51] we saw from Forest Lake for coach Matt [39:53] Cleary for so many years. And now if [39:56] you're Hastings, I I would dare venture [39:58] to say you need to score on this [40:00] possession because there might be in the [40:02] second half there might only be four [40:04] possessions in the entirety of the [40:06] second half there. The Jaza is going to [40:07] have no urgency to be running hurry up [40:10] or anything like this. I mean, if you're [40:12] the Raiders, you really need to show [40:13] something on this drive here. [40:15] >> It's got to be 447. I mean, you cannot [40:17] give Chesa the ball again. [40:21] >> The kickoff taken by Carter Herman [40:22] O'Brien. 20 to the 25 26 27 down. And [40:27] again, [40:29] you can almost sense the trepidation in [40:32] my voice [40:35] and almost fear of the future of what [40:38] might happen here in the final 440 of [40:41] this half. But not only that, the fear [40:43] of a running clock in the second half. [40:46] and the Raiders coming off of two [40:48] spectacular [40:50] >> city galvanizing victories. [40:53] >> It'd be kind of a tough one to take [40:55] tonight. [40:56] >> It It would be a real kick in the pants [40:58] if if they were to get blown out here by [41:00] by Chesco when it's all said and done [41:02] given the start they've had to the [41:03] season. I I could not agree more. [41:06] >> I'm being told that our stream is [41:08] cutting out huge folks as a handoff or [41:12] pitch out left side and Shane will get [41:14] nothing. [41:15] So, any of you folks that are uh uh any [41:18] of the HTTV guys that are listening to [41:20] me right now, um we've been notified [41:22] that we're kind of cutting in and out. [41:24] So, if there's any issues that we can [41:25] fix, [41:27] let's go ahead and do that. But just a [41:29] heads up, little house cleaning on the [41:33] fly. Second down, call it no gate. [41:36] Back to the 27 yd line. [41:40] 409 to play. First half, second quarter. [41:43] Shady on the pitch, cuts back into the [41:45] middle, gets across the 30, gets another [41:47] yard, maybe two with the fall, gain [41:49] about five, third and five, maybe a [41:53] short six when it's all said and done [41:55] here. [41:56] >> And Chesa is just treating Shadock like [41:58] he's prime Adrien Peterson where, you [42:00] know, back in the day, you might see him [42:02] get stuffed a few times. You got to hope [42:03] that Shadock is like prime Peterson [42:05] because eventually he would break a long [42:07] touchdown. Boy, the Raiders really need [42:09] that right here. Even though things [42:10] haven't been going his way too much [42:12] here. If he can break off a long one [42:14] here, that that would go [42:16] >> very far into into mounting up some sort [42:18] of response. [42:19] >> And the Raiders are going to have to [42:20] stretch the field. You're going to have [42:21] to hit a pass here soon. Look at how [42:22] hard they're stacking the box here right [42:24] now even. And pitch out goes to Shadic. [42:27] And he tries to pick his way through [42:29] left side. He's not going to get very [42:31] short [42:32] >> or very close I should say. He But I [42:34] think he is short. I think they gave him [42:37] a very generous spot as well. [42:40] >> They're moving it. First down Raiders [42:42] and a big one. [42:44] >> Zack Shadic willedled himself to that [42:46] first down. [42:48] >> All right, Manny's trying to get us [42:50] fired up on the PA here, but this [42:53] smaller crowd on what was a very rainy [42:56] early portion of this game now pretty [43:00] dang nice for Friday night in Hastings. [43:03] Trying to get loud here. [43:06] Hand off from Hansen to Shady. He'll [43:09] gain a yard and that's it. [43:12] >> And I I love the Hastings Raiders, but [43:14] that might have been a generous [43:16] >> first down right there. You'll take it. [43:17] Of course. [43:19] >> Second and eight. [43:20] >> Second down. 8 yds to go. Raiders down [43:25] 21 nothing [43:28] in the first half. Second quarter. 238 [43:30] to go. But the Raiders patient again [43:33] realizing you can't give Chesa the final [43:36] possession of the half knowing they have [43:38] the ball to start the second half and [43:41] you get one or two here and make it 35 [43:43] like you said 35 nothing something like [43:44] that. [43:46] It ain't going to be a fun second half [43:47] for anybody. Back to pass. Hansen has a [43:51] man. It's caught. First down Raiders to [43:53] the fory of Chasa. Nice pass over the [43:57] middle connecting on a slant to Carter [43:59] Lundstöm, the senior receiver. 6'1 in [44:03] tall. Great pitcher on the baseball [44:05] field, but right there makes a big first [44:09] down catch. And that's what we need in [44:10] Owen. Stretch that field. Make him back [44:13] off. Give Shady a little room. Nice [44:17] pass. Way to be composed. And a great [44:20] job by Hansen to deliver that football. [44:22] >> You're you're starving in the desert. [44:24] You just need a glass of water. You [44:25] don't you don't need a swimming pool. [44:26] You just need anything to go your way. [44:28] Whether it whether it was giving a [44:29] Dracula even a carry just to just to [44:31] change it up. Just to change up anything [44:33] to see if you can get anything going. [44:34] That's exactly what they needed. [44:36] >> Back to Shaney. He runs behind Mosman [44:38] and he'll get [44:40] >> another three maybe. [44:45] Second down, but clock is running two [44:47] here. And the Raiders have all three [44:49] timeouts. Raiders, like we said though, [44:52] would be happy [44:54] >> chewing up puck, but I am I am of the [44:56] ilk right now where I we're close enough [44:58] to score. Let's let's score a touchdown [45:00] here, guys. [45:01] >> Second down and seven. Let's put a [45:04] little pressure going into halftime on [45:06] these Hawks. [45:08] Single back. That's Shaney. Fake the [45:11] pitch. Hansen on the run. Rolling to his [45:13] strong side right back across his body. [45:15] It's caught by Lundstrom. First down. [45:18] We're starting to see a little bit of [45:20] cohesiveness [45:22] between quarterback and receiver as [45:24] Lstrom has stepped into that Marlo [45:26] screen spot and he's making a big [45:28] impression here. [45:30] >> And that's that's a great throw, too, [45:31] cuz it would have been really tempting [45:33] to try to go for the deep ball there [45:34] with Elliot Hagen, but he he was kind of [45:36] sneakily double covered. You love seeing [45:38] that. And they're finding something that [45:40] works. They're just whatever it is. Hey, [45:42] Lunchroom, he's having a great couple of [45:44] plays. Just keep feeding Lunchroom the [45:47] ball. If it's not working with Shadic, [45:48] we'll throw it with to lunchroom until [45:50] it works with Shadic. We'll find any way [45:52] we can do it. But before that, we'll [45:53] talk quickly here about the uh the [45:55] Spoolhouse from prom to weddings. Let us [45:58] suit your formal wear needs. You can [45:59] learn more information at [46:00] thespoolhouse.com/sing.html. [46:04] >> Thank you. [46:07] >> You still got to bring in that jersey. [46:08] >> I got to bring in my jersey. And and I [46:10] also know this weekend actually I I've [46:12] talked to so many people this week [46:14] they're going to weddings a big wedding [46:16] weekend. So you know if you got a [46:18] wedding coming up and you need those [46:20] alterations to that special dress maybe [46:22] the pants uh got a you know less tight [46:26] if you know and you might need a little [46:28] fix there. We can do that too. So be [46:30] sure for any of your [46:33] >> spooling threading needs check out the [46:36] spool house. locally owned and operated [46:38] here in Hastings. [46:41] 102 to go. First half, 21- nothing. [46:45] Chaza over Hastings. Raiders threatening [46:47] for the first time tonight. From the 20 [46:49] yd line, Shadic, he takes the hand off [46:52] and will rumble for about what his [46:53] average has been, three or so tonight. [46:57] >> Well south of his average of around 10 [47:00] yardds per carry. [47:03] >> Now, the Raiders do have two timeouts. [47:04] Doesn't look like they're going to use [47:05] one here, but they really need to have a [47:07] sense of urgency here. We got 15 seconds [47:09] already off the the play clock. [47:11] >> And the field goal game hasn't exactly [47:14] been kind to Hastings, whether it's [47:16] extra points or three for that matter. [47:18] >> Nor would it be particularly useful in a [47:20] in a situation like this. [47:23] >> Hand off. Shady bounces off a man. Boy, [47:25] that initial little shove in the [47:29] interior line of the Chaska defense made [47:31] that play because Shady got a little bit [47:34] of a bump and that slowed him down [47:36] enough for the rest of the Chaza D to [47:38] get in there and eat him up. So, you got [47:40] to credit gang team tackling right [47:42] there. 23 seconds left here and without [47:46] the field goal game being big like you [47:48] said 21 nothing anyway you probably want [47:50] to put one in the end zone anyhow to [47:53] really make this thing interesting in [47:54] the second half you know this is an [47:56] important little chat here for our squad [47:59] >> no that's totally correct and now you're [48:02] you're in an interesting situation where [48:04] you're probably not going to be thinking [48:07] about running the ball with uh with [48:09] Shadic but luckily on this drive it has [48:12] been pretty hot with uh with Carter [48:13] Lundstrom. So, it is it is third down. [48:16] You you you do have you don't [48:18] necessarily have to target the the end [48:19] zone here, but [48:22] you might have two cracks at the end [48:24] zone. Maybe you try to pick up a first [48:26] down. [48:28] Can use the uh the entirety of the of [48:30] the field here, but yeah, like you're [48:31] saying, I mean, it getting the getting [48:34] the goose egg off the board is going to [48:35] be important, but if you score a field [48:36] goal and they come back in the second [48:38] half and get a touchdown, it's a [48:39] four-point swing anyways. [48:42] Hansen rolls out right side on the run. [48:45] Throws it back across his body again and [48:48] that's Foss [48:50] and Darn near had it near the five. 16 [48:53] seconds left now. Third down and five. [48:56] Let's take a peek again. And you that's [48:59] kind of a dangerous throw and we've seen [49:01] it a few times. I know it's connected. [49:03] You can't keep going back to the well [49:05] for that in that spot knowing that thing [49:06] will get picked and brought to the [49:07] house. Uh, Vikings fans know very well [49:10] that's a dangerous throw that cost us a [49:12] Super Bowl. [49:12] >> I see the Saints black and gold every [49:15] time now and he rolls out. I I I I was [49:18] and again now it's fourth down. So you [49:20] you you really got to find a way here to [49:22] either get the first down, get out of [49:24] bounds. [49:26] Let's see what they can do. Hansen under [49:30] center. Stack up wings off the right. [49:33] Two to be exact. And Hansen passes. It's [49:36] caught by Burkin. He has the first down. [49:39] And now they're going to call their [49:40] final timeout and try to put one in the [49:44] end zone here. But now as we take a peek [49:48] and create camera work by the guys down [49:50] on the field there is Hansen [49:53] >> puts it right in the hands of Berken and [49:56] some sure hands at that. [49:59] You can tell right now with, you know, [50:02] maybe a little cohesion with Lunstrom, [50:04] of course, with Foss, uh, how he can [50:07] catch the ball, too. You're starting to [50:10] find a few more really surehanded [50:12] options that now you can be comfortable [50:14] with. You think about, you know, setting [50:16] yourself on one read or one read only [50:19] and not looking at your other keys or [50:20] reads. Now, you're going to feel like, [50:22] well, right away I can look at one of [50:24] the two. It doesn't have to be that guy [50:26] right away. and to broaden that out. I [50:28] think that's going to make Hansen's job [50:30] as a quarterback a lot easier the more [50:32] he gets comfortable with his receivers [50:34] throughout the season. [50:35] >> So true. And you'll have two cracks [50:37] here. And they've they've been really [50:38] good at completing roll out passes on [50:41] slant. So maybe you want maybe you want [50:43] to line up Birkin or somebody in the [50:45] slant going to the right side going to [50:48] his his uh his arm side and try to [50:50] connect something here. We'll see what [50:51] they have cooked up. [50:52] >> 9 seconds left. Raiders go with a single [50:54] back set. That's Sheny fake the pitch. [50:56] Blitz comes and Hansen is stuck. [51:03] And that will do it for the first half. [51:07] Raiders really needed one. They'll have [51:10] some time to regroup at halftime and [51:13] talk a bit about this first half and get [51:16] things going. We saw the Raiders make [51:18] some adjustments the first couple of [51:19] games. And let's see here some scoring [51:22] plays that come from Welter, the [51:24] quarterback. that win of 21 and 52 here [51:27] in the first half. He's a big boy. [51:29] >> He's a big problem for Hastings. That's [51:31] there's no two ways about it. And this [51:33] was uh this was the the welter show for [51:36] sure. Yeah. Three first half rushing [51:38] touchdowns. It's unfortunate that the [51:40] Raiders ended the the the final drive [51:42] like that. And like you said, road teams [51:45] going to get the ball to start the the [51:46] second half. I mean, the Raiders, [51:48] they're going to have to start getting [51:49] defensive turnovers. I mean, it's it's [51:51] going to have to be a full team effort [51:54] here. It's going to have to be something [51:55] special teams going your way. You're [51:57] going to have to get the offense humming [51:58] and you're going to have to probably get [51:59] some turnovers as well if you want to [52:01] crawl back into this one. [52:02] >> At halftime, the Raiders trailing by a [52:04] score of 21 to nothing. But some good [52:07] news for you that we can tell you is [52:08] coming up at halftime. Aside from some [52:10] messages from our friends around the [52:12] area, we're also going to have the [52:14] little bit of a recap that came from the [52:16] Hastings Bloomington Jefferson game. the [52:18] school record that was set by Zack [52:21] Shadic and much more. You'll probably [52:22] see the Birkin kickoff return touchdown. [52:25] That'll be a lot of fun. But thanks to [52:27] our friends up at BECTV for putting that [52:30] together. And then of course Hunter [52:31] cutting everything up throughout the [52:32] week to make you let you guys have some [52:34] fun here at halftime. With the score, [52:36] Chesa 21, Hastings nothing. Back with [52:38] more from Ton Field coming up here in [52:40] the second half on Hastings Community [52:42] Television. [52:55] He gets a pin. [52:57] [Music] [52:58] >> What a move. What a goal. Oh, what a [53:00] shot. Scores the Raiders. Can they get [53:02] the lift? Yes, they do. [53:05] >> Just snipes one. [53:07] >> Oh my god. [53:10] >> And reaching up and making the play. [53:14] It's moving over. [53:16] >> Looking to throw it in. She's going to [53:18] get the first down. Gone. Touchdown [53:20] Raiders. [53:22] [Applause] [53:32] >> But here is the difference for the class [53:33] of 1990. [53:36] We went from mom [53:38] to [53:39] >> I know you're all excited about Y2K. You [53:41] could lose power or party like it's [53:42] 1999. [53:44] >> Hastings high school has been graduating [53:47] since the first 187 [53:52] [Applause] [53:55] of 2020. [53:57] [Applause] [54:00] >> Funding for community TV is in rapid [54:03] decline and HCTV will not survive [54:07] without your help. Let your local [54:09] representatives know that you support [54:11] Community TV. To learn more, visit save [54:15] communityv.com. [54:46] And welcome back everybody to McNamera [54:49] Stadium at Todd Field Halftime with the [54:52] pretty sunset in the background to our [54:55] west and southwest as take a peek at the [54:58] coaches chatting, the officials getting [55:01] ready as we look back at all of the fun [55:03] that was had one week ago. And look at [55:06] Shady run as he takes off here right [55:09] side all the way to the house for a [55:11] touchdown getting the Raiders going [55:13] early. And you're going to tell me that [55:15] that didn't set the tone for the rest of [55:17] the night. Well, it did because the [55:19] Raider defense also after giving up an [55:22] early score to Jefferson, uh, they got [55:24] back in gear again. And it was the Shady [55:26] Show as he ran for a school record as he [55:30] goes up over 370 yards on the night, [55:33] including this run here, splitting the [55:36] guard and tackle to get in from short [55:37] yardage. And then right here, here's [55:40] Hansen connecting on a great pass to [55:42] Matt Foss up the right side. and Matty [55:44] did the rest of it as he scored for the [55:46] Raiders to put the game really out of [55:48] reach in the first quarter alone. Later [55:51] on, the Bluington Jefferson Jaguars were [55:54] to get on the board before halftime. [55:56] Yeah, shushes the crowd a little bit, [55:58] but they weren't to be quiet very long [55:59] cuz guess who has the football again? [56:01] Shady Shadic off and running and he [56:04] takes this one down for a touchdown as [56:06] well. He had five total in the game. And [56:09] now here's another big run up right side [56:11] where he really liked that side all [56:13] night. And here he breaks in to daylight [56:16] and then pay dirt to close things as [56:18] Shady again up over 370 yards in the [56:22] game. Raider defense late in the game [56:24] did give one up, but a lot of the [56:26] starters were out at that point, but the [56:29] Raiders man a great win nonetheless as [56:33] they wrap things up against Bloomington [56:35] Jefferson on the road with kickoff here. [56:38] And there's Birkin doing his duty as we [56:41] talked about his 75 yd return. And that [56:44] gets us here to the second half of this [56:46] game with the ball in the air. 21 [56:50] nothing Hawks and they have the [56:52] football. 20 25 to about the 30 and [56:55] that's where the returner will be taken [56:57] down. [56:59] And and talk I mean that was a beautiful [57:02] recap by everybody involved. I'm almost [57:04] glad that was a road game that you [57:06] didn't cover because I think you'd be [57:08] questionable for the remainder of the [57:09] season. Your your voice box. I'd have to [57:11] I'd have to take over. The backup would [57:12] have to come in third quarter. You would [57:14] you would have lost your top if you if [57:16] you were covering that game. [57:18] >> It was uh pretty fun. Like I said, even [57:21] at home where you can kind of sit and [57:23] hang out with the boy and have a great [57:25] Friday night. And that first week of [57:28] full week of school for the kids was [57:30] just tremendous. [57:33] 1154 to go. Just underway in the third [57:36] quarter. Handoff's going to go nowhere. [57:38] And the Raider defense coming up and [57:41] flexing early as Barrett Boardman, we've [57:45] talked about him now. This his third [57:47] year on varsity making a big play again. [57:49] And we're going to need a lot more out [57:51] of 33 and the rest of the boys here in [57:53] the middle. [57:54] >> Well, you never can question the Raiders [57:56] heart whether you know you're you're up [57:58] in the Bloomington game or you're down [58:00] here in the Chesa game. I I do trust [58:02] that they'll have a a consistent effort [58:05] throughout this one. So, you know, [58:06] they're they're they're still in this [58:09] game. [58:10] >> Big quarterback Welter under center [58:12] right half far side of the field as you [58:14] look at the TV. Pitch out comes near [58:16] side and across the 40. It's going to be [58:18] a hold. That's going to come back [58:19] anyway. So, yeah, it would have been [58:21] probably a first down, but that's not [58:23] going to matter as this should be coming [58:26] back. [58:29] And that time we saw Great House with [58:32] the help of the hold show a little [58:34] breakaway speed. We didn't see too much [58:36] of it there in the first half as we'll [58:38] take a peek and see if maybe we can find [58:40] where this infraction took place in the [58:42] back field. [58:43] >> Yeah, it looks like 81 right there. [58:45] >> Got a hold of the back of the jersey of [58:47] Carter Herman O'Brien. [58:51] >> It's amazing how well you can run when [58:53] there's a when there's a hold sometimes [58:55] >> a 10 yard [58:56] >> and a spot foul too. So that'll move [58:59] them back behind the initial line of [59:01] scrimmage. [59:02] >> And this is what we were talking about [59:03] in the first half. You just got to put [59:05] these guys behind the chains because [59:06] they're not they've tried a couple of [59:08] long passes, but they're not gashing you [59:09] for 30 yards, 20 yards. It really is a [59:12] consistent kind of faucet drip of an of [59:14] an attack. [59:15] >> And as soon as you say that, Chaza comes [59:17] out with four receivers, two each side [59:19] all of a sudden goes spread single set [59:21] back and that's going to be kept by [59:24] Welter. And he's not going to get much. [59:26] He doesn't even make it back to the [59:27] original line of scrimmage. Third and [59:29] extremely long for the first time [59:31] tonight for Chaza. And this is exactly [59:33] the way the Raider defense wanted to [59:35] come out to start the half. [59:36] >> A great tackle by Boardman, too. I mean, [59:39] Borman's a big guy, but this [59:40] quarterback, you know, makes him look [59:42] dimminionive, but he gets up under the [59:43] hood and makes sure that he's got a hold [59:45] of his legs. He's not going anywhere. [59:47] Sets up the gang tackle for a well, a [59:51] play of zero. [59:52] >> Third and very long. Call it 14. 101 12 [59:55] to go third quarter. Plenty of time for [59:57] the Raiders. Let's make a big play here [59:58] and force a fourth down. Out of the [60:00] shotgun tonight, Welter. Haven't said [60:02] that much. Back to pass. He's looking, [60:04] surveying the situation. He'll take off [60:06] throw over the middle and it's [60:08] incomplete. Raiders had a man in there. [60:11] That was number 14 Landon Johnson among [60:13] a couple of other fellas. But a great [60:15] job by the Raiders to get pressure [60:17] eventually and force a bad pass here as [60:20] Yeah. out of the shotgun. a little more [60:22] uncomfortable here. And that's the [60:24] Raiders need to continue to do. Put them [60:26] behind the chains, make them [60:28] uncomfortable. Let's get her going in [60:30] the second half. [60:31] >> And that was a tight spiral. That really [60:33] was a a good pass. Maybe not the best [60:36] route and and catch. Great defense by [60:39] Hastings, but I mean, this this guy can [60:40] pass the ball as well as rush the ball. [60:42] But now, this is really where the game [60:45] starts here for Hastings. [60:46] >> Shady back. High punt. Shady leaving. [60:51] Let it be right there at the 45. Takes a [60:53] hop. 45 and a 44 and a half. We'll say [60:57] down. [60:58] >> All right. Perfect short field for the [61:00] Raiders in their first offensive drive [61:02] of the second half as Hastings down 21 [61:05] nothing. Now you have a legitimate [61:07] opportunity to make some noise here. [61:08] Milan, [61:10] >> it's it's now or never. They're there. [61:13] >> And this is why the turnovers are [61:14] important. There might not be three [61:16] Hastings offensive possessions for the [61:18] remainder of the game unless you create [61:20] them. You're right. [61:21] >> But even that notwithstanding, you got [61:23] to score here and you and really you [61:25] kind of have to score with haste as [61:26] well. [61:27] >> Right. [61:29] >> Jesuit eats that clock up offensively so [61:32] efficiently. [61:34] Raiders work left hash. [61:37] Hand off to Shady. [61:40] Looked like he almost had the line of [61:42] scrimmage and then thrown backwards. [61:45] And Shann just finding no daylight [61:47] today. And you know, you have to credit [61:50] this Chaza defensive attack up front. [61:52] And again, great push. You just see [61:54] three guys all there waiting for [61:57] >> a wouldbe all state running back. [61:59] >> We could probably blow that plate down a [62:01] little a little sooner. We don't have to [62:03] carry him in the air, but you're I mean, [62:04] you're right. I mean, there is [62:06] >> the the roads are closed. I mean, [62:08] there's no lane for this kid to run [62:10] through. [62:12] >> Great defensive effort here in this game [62:14] for Chaza as the Raiders send a man in [62:17] motion. will pitch out, try to set up a [62:19] blocker in front of Zack Shadic, and he [62:21] won't get much. [62:24] >> Couple maybe. [62:26] >> I mean, what's what's his long tonight? [62:28] I mean, five, six yards. I mean, [62:30] >> nothing over 10. I can tell you that [62:32] right now for surely nothing over 10. [62:35] >> And and you know, it's not so much on [62:36] Shadock or the Raiders, but it's this is [62:39] a big defense. I mean, you can just look [62:41] down the line right here. Look at the [62:42] Raiders. Look at Chaza. Those are those [62:44] are big players right there. Yeah. [62:46] Perfect camera work right there. Those [62:48] are big players. They're smart players, [62:50] too. And they're just plugging every [62:51] single hole. There is no lane to run [62:53] through. It's It's a frustrating team to [62:56] play. [62:58] >> Raiders under center. Back to pass. [63:01] Hansen over the middle. Incomplete. [63:04] Trying for Matt Foss. Fourth down. [63:07] Well, that's a bummer. Raiders going for [63:10] one of their surehanded leaders. And [63:13] right there it'll f force a punt. And [63:16] now you know Raiders a minute 30 drive. [63:19] That won't get the job done here [63:20] tonight. [63:21] >> And now Chesa is going to take over the [63:24] ball. And you better believe they're [63:25] going to try to go on a a 10-minute [63:29] drive here. I mean, they have no [63:31] urgency. [63:33] They're they're comfortably in the lead [63:35] here. [63:37] >> It's it's like we've said, it might it [63:39] might not be the most exciting play [63:40] style, but boy is it effective. And it's [63:42] frustrating too when you're on the [63:44] receiving end. [63:45] >> Arnest to punt and another good one. 20 [63:50] takes a hop and a roll. 15 14 13 12 out [63:53] of bounds. Great punt by Ashton Arnes. [63:57] And he has been a weapon for the [63:59] Raiders. And like we said earlier, it's [64:00] not like we want our weapon to be our [64:03] punter, but when he's doing a great job, [64:06] you got to acknowledge it right there. [64:07] Another terrific punt by Arnest who's [64:10] not a big fella, but boy, he has good [64:12] technique, good form, and another great [64:14] puck. [64:16] >> He's got a big leg and and more [64:18] importantly too, when when that ball [64:19] lands, it keeps rolling away from [64:21] Hastings. You know, sometimes you get [64:23] that air time, but if you don't get that [64:25] dribble time as well, you know that you [64:27] 10, 15, 20 extra yards depending on how [64:30] it bounces. I know the field's wet, so [64:31] that's probably hurting that a little [64:33] bit, but he's a good punter. [64:35] [Music] [64:37] We will watch here from the 10 because [64:41] this will be the actually the 12 the [64:42] longest drive [64:44] >> if they can complete it from Chaza. We [64:46] got 810 to go. We'll see how much of the [64:48] clock they use as this will be handed [64:51] off in the back field off right side. [64:53] Grey House will get just short of the [64:57] first down up. They're going to move [64:58] them. 10yd gate first down. Move the [65:00] chains. [65:02] >> Well, at least they've been consistent. [65:04] They've they've been consistently [65:07] mildly generous with the with the spots, [65:09] but all you really care is that if it's [65:12] if it's equally applied, [65:13] >> right? [65:15] >> See if that will continue here of maybe [65:20] we can get them behind the line of [65:21] scrimmage. That'd be a great spot to set [65:23] the ball on second down. We'll see what [65:24] the Raider defense can do here. Handoff. [65:26] Bring House again steps across the line, [65:28] falls ahead, gains another seven. So [65:31] that running game starting to [65:33] >> really take a uh oh, we got a big injury [65:35] here and a big fella nonetheless down [65:37] and that's the affformentioned number 77 [65:40] Reggie Derek 65 345 junior and he is [65:43] down and in pain here [65:47] take a look at one of our sponsors while [65:49] we have a minute two here for tonight's [65:51] game and recognize our wonderful [65:54] community mailman. Where are we eating [65:57] after the game? Oh, well, we're going to [65:58] Culver's. HCTV Sports is sponsored by [66:02] Culver's of Hastings. From savory butter [66:04] burgers to sweet scoops of frozen [66:06] custard, we've got something handcrafted [66:08] for everyone. You can visit us at our [66:10] location next to Cub Foods in Hastings. [66:14] >> Butterburg is always good. Patty melt is [66:16] my favorite. And take a look here and [66:19] see maybe where the big fella took a [66:21] shot there. And it looks like just a [66:24] play between he and the Raiders number [66:28] 64 on the line there. And we don't have [66:30] a 64 on our What is going on here today? [66:33] We got a couple of numbers that were [66:35] changed on the roster. So, wish we could [66:37] help you out, folks. [66:40] >> Unfortunately, that's the the downside [66:41] to what I was talking about earlier. You [66:43] know, the both teams this means a lot to [66:45] both teams and and you know, when [66:47] they're really into blocking, they're [66:49] really into winning the blocks. And [66:50] sometimes you just get torqued like that [66:53] a little bit. [66:54] >> We'll take a look at the the section 35A [66:58] section here. [67:00] >> Pretty wild right now with the Raiders [67:02] and St. Thomas towards the top. We've [67:04] had many years where those two teams [67:06] have been the top two. Apple Valley at [67:09] one and one overall. Two Rivers, you [67:11] know, they lost some some big fellas, [67:13] some good players on both sides of the [67:15] football. They are one and one right now [67:18] in Burnsville who again just continues [67:20] to shrink in enrollment and they've had [67:23] some issues with numbers in many of [67:24] their sports the last few years and have [67:27] co-op with a couple of different sports. [67:30] Well, they're at 0 and2 and that's [67:31] something that, you know, back in the [67:33] '9s, you know, they were always one of [67:35] those powerhouses in Dakota County, but [67:38] now a lot of that has gone to the [67:40] Lakeville schools. Of course, East View [67:44] has become a very big team to deal with. [67:47] And look at that. [67:48] >> That is the craziest section I've ever [67:49] seen. [67:50] >> That no thank you. No way. I mean, come [67:53] on. That That's Chan, Chaza, Mano East, [67:57] and West. They throw Wakone in there. I [67:59] mean, that could be a state championship [68:02] five right there. [68:03] >> Chan, Chan Hassan, I believe they're [68:05] number one. Wakoneia is number seven. in [68:07] Mano East is number three in 5A, not [68:10] just the section. That is a murderer's [68:13] row of a section. [68:13] >> Of course, we had a home and home with [68:15] Chan a couple years ago that didn't go [68:17] very well at all. This not going well [68:20] either. Handoff up the middle. First [68:23] down and more. [68:25] Great house again. [68:29] 727 to go here. Third quarter play and [68:33] Greenhouse finding enough room [68:36] >> to get the first down. It's second down. [68:39] Now first and 10 again this time from [68:42] >> the 38. [68:44] >> You know, one of the benefits to gang [68:45] tackles that hopefully we can see is [68:48] that when you're that second and third [68:49] player in, I'd love to see them try to [68:51] punch out the ball and maybe try to [68:52] force a turnover here. [68:55] seen that a lot in the NFL already this [68:57] season as Welter takes off running in [68:59] front of the Raider bench very close to [69:02] another first down [69:04] and the big 6'7 in quarterback will get [69:07] nine and he's just short of the first [69:09] down as we take a peek again and really [69:11] just surveys the situation drawn up run [69:15] and finds enough room to get very close [69:18] to a first down and really extends the [69:20] playbook for Chaza being second and very [69:23] short Maybe this is where you try to [69:26] sneak in a pass here. [69:31] >> Only what was it? 25 yardds passing [69:34] really throughout the year as they have [69:37] predominantly ran the football and they [69:39] do there for another first down as great [69:41] house continues to chew up yards and [69:44] clock. And this is exactly what Chaza [69:48] wants to do to teams. to get the lead [69:49] the second half and then try to loan you [69:52] to sleep and just take the clock away [69:54] from you and you're seeing that every [69:56] play running the play clock down as far [69:58] as he can [70:00] >> going at it and you're seeing Chaser [70:03] again proving to be a top 10 team [70:05] >> they they are not an air raid team they [70:07] are not trying to put up 70 points in a [70:10] game they have a very distinct flavor of [70:12] football [70:12] >> and they go I here up the middle great [70:15] house slips over the 40 yd line gain of [70:19] the long barrier. [70:21] >> So if he had not slipped, he might have [70:23] been sitting in Walgreens right now. [70:27] >> It looks like Great House [70:29] >> might have twisted up something on the [70:32] >> on the fall down. [70:33] >> Somebody [70:35] that Chaz needs to lose at all. I mean, [70:39] Barney lost one of their big bean [70:40] feeders on the line and now you're going [70:43] to lose your Aback. [70:47] >> You know, you want to you want to win [70:49] this game. I I think if you're Chesca, [70:51] you feel like this is pretty in control, [70:54] but you don't want it to be a pirick [70:55] victory where, you know, you lose four [70:57] of your starters. You got to wonder if [70:59] with these two injuries, maybe they [71:01] start to turn and think maybe we got to [71:03] put our backups in here to get them some [71:04] experience and then save for a play. [71:08] He's got to come out at least one play. [71:10] He's trying to go back to the huddle. [71:11] Great house. Looks like he's fine. He'll [71:13] sit out at least one play and then come [71:15] back in the game. [71:20] So, here comes quarterback Matthew [71:22] Welter. Three rushing touchdowns. All of [71:24] the scores tonight have been via the QB [71:27] on the ground. Two short ones and then a [71:29] 52 yd blast. [71:33] He has his Hawks under center. Second [71:35] and three. 21- nothing Hawks lead right [71:38] to left on your TV screen. Hand off up [71:40] the middle and uh got about two maybe on [71:44] that plane. The [71:47] >> 21 second running back is Belmont [71:51] wearing the number 21. [71:57] 537 to go again. Third quarter and Chaza [72:01] very content here slowing the game down. [72:06] Slow [72:08] to the line. Welter. Third down. Call it [72:11] three. Ball spotted at the Raider 39 yd [72:14] line. [72:15] >> Man in motion to the back field. Hand [72:17] off to the fullback. Nope. Keeping it as [72:19] Welter and he's gone. 30 20 10 5 [72:23] touchdown. Chasa leads [72:27] 27 to nothing. [72:30] That one a 39 yd run [72:35] >> and that [72:38] could be all that is broke. [72:41] And and it's just so typical of Chaza [72:43] getting four rushing touchdowns by their [72:45] by their quarterbacks. It's just the [72:46] epitome of if it's not broke, don't fix [72:49] it. Everything Chaska does, it's not [72:51] broke, so they don't fix it. They don't [72:52] need to pass down the field. They they [72:54] try a little bit, but I mean, you just [72:56] let this guy run the ball. You let great [72:58] house touch the ball, but this guy's [72:59] your finisher. [73:01] >> That one kicked with some force through [73:03] by Lamman. 28 nothing. [73:09] I've caught myself almost twice calling [73:11] Lamman Lululemon. [73:14] So that's that's where I'm at tonight on [73:16] a Friday as a Raider fan. [73:18] >> Potential sponsorship right there. [73:19] >> I think you're right. [73:21] >> But just look at the He's sneaky fast. [73:23] He's sneaky powerful. Hit him with that [73:25] opposite hand. stiff arm right there. I [73:28] mean, [73:29] it's it's impressive. It is impressive [73:31] to to watch what this guy's doing. [73:36] >> It's impressive, yes, but heartbreaking [73:39] for Raider fans. I can tell you that [73:41] much. after the first two weeks went so [73:44] well. Whether it be an exciting come [73:46] from behind victory or a thrashing of a [73:49] road rival [73:51] >> there there's going to have to be a deep [73:53] soularching after this game to try to [73:56] figure out how the rest of the season [73:57] goes because we know you can play really [73:58] good football. We know you can battle [74:00] through adversity. We saw that in Newra [74:02] game. We know you can blow somebody out. [74:04] We saw that in the Jefferson game. But [74:06] there's levels to this and and you're [74:08] finding out that there's a different [74:09] level if if you want to have success for [74:12] the rest of cuz you're playing great [74:14] teams for the for the rest of the way [74:16] out too. Mano East and St. Thomas. So [74:20] maybe you can try to turn this into a [74:21] silver lining where there's there's a [74:23] lot to be learned here and you and you [74:24] just hope that that can be applied later [74:26] in the season. you know, this game will, [74:29] you know, I hate to say help Hastings, [74:31] but to help show them that you have some [74:35] things to work on before you play [74:37] another state caliber team like Mano [74:39] East as this one will be returned by [74:42] Adriula 20 left side spins 25 and that's [74:47] where it'll end. The Raiders will start [74:48] first and 10 left hash at 5 minutes to [74:50] go here in the third quarter at [74:52] Toddfield and the score is 28 to [74:56] nothing. Chas [74:59] the return for the Raiders. [75:01] >> A lot of [75:04] things that the Raiders just can't [75:08] control and sometimes you just can't [75:11] control a great defensive ball club that [75:14] is in the top 10 in the state of [75:16] Minnesota. [75:17] >> 28 yd return. Raiders will begin first [75:20] and 10 at their own 25. [75:21] >> Matt Foss a split out wide to the left [75:23] for Hastings. [75:25] Two wing backs set up off the right set [75:28] back single in the back. Shady will [75:32] throw the screen right side. Nice setup [75:34] there. 30 35 first down. Close to it [75:38] anyway. Shady on the screen pass. And [75:40] don't see too many screens out of [75:42] Hastings, but that might be a way to [75:43] open things up and extend it while still [75:45] keeping Shady involved. [75:47] >> Took the words right out of my mouth. [75:48] Maybe you should see it a little more, [75:50] especially when you're just getting [75:51] smothered. It's hard to run to the edge. [75:53] But if you can get a screen like that, I [75:55] mean, you just got to get the ball in [75:57] this guy's hands and and like you said, [75:59] sometimes if you're going up against [76:00] against a great defense, there's things [76:02] you can't control. But I like that [76:04] they're still trying to get creative [76:06] with with this offense. [76:07] >> If you get the secondary to bite on a on [76:10] a fake screen, right, where you might [76:12] get a a corner, Shady gets a couple [76:15] where you get one of the the safeties [76:17] maybe overcommitting towards the front, [76:19] thinking that screen is coming. They [76:21] overcommit then leaving somebody open [76:24] deep on the backside for Hansen to hit. [76:26] So that might have just put a little [76:28] something extra in the brains as we take [76:30] a peek at the last play once again for [76:31] the Raiders as we set up second down in [76:35] about six. [76:37] >> No question. And and I I have no idea if [76:39] they've ever practiced this. But, you [76:41] know, with all the attention with with [76:43] Shadock, I mean, maybe you try a [76:45] halfback pass. You get the screen up to [76:46] Shadic. Everybody comes in and kind of [76:48] like the same principle you were saying. [76:51] >> Shady takes the hand off, gets outside, [76:53] holds coming up too. That's going to go [76:55] back [76:56] >> and Raiders getting a handful of a Chesa [77:01] player and that's going to send Hastings [77:05] backwards. [77:07] >> That was a dangerous throw of a penalty [77:09] flag right there. Reminds me of Orlando [77:11] Brown senior. They were they were [77:13] throwing that at I don't think I [77:16] understand you want to get the flag as [77:17] close to where the infraction was, but I [77:19] think [77:21] >> I don't I don't think we have to get [77:22] that close. I I I think you could drop a [77:24] flag. Orlando Brown back in the early [77:27] 2000s was hit in the eye with a flag and [77:31] it didn't cost him uh part of his vision [77:35] in the eye where he got hit and it ended [77:39] up being a very large legal kurfuffle [77:42] towards the end of his career. Now his [77:44] son I believe is playing trying to think [77:47] where he plays or what he plays. [77:51] >> He's kind of moved around a little bit. [77:52] >> Yep. [77:54] Two receivers, a wing back set up, two [77:58] screen to Shadic. Nice block by Burkin [78:01] will free him up for a couple yards, but [78:03] we're looking at third super long here [78:05] with 413 to go. Third quarter. [78:09] >> And you know that Welter is sitting on [78:11] the sidelines, licking his chops, [78:13] looking to equal Shad's five touchdowns [78:16] one week ago. third down. [78:18] >> You know, for sure in the leadup to this [78:20] game, all that they heard about, all [78:21] this, all the tape they studied was [78:23] about Shadock and his five touchdowns. [78:24] Yeah, I would have to believe that he [78:26] would love nothing more than to get five [78:28] rushing touchdowns on the road here at [78:31] McNamera. [78:33] >> And again, just kind of an anomaly, a 67 [78:36] QB, and he can run a little bit enough [78:39] to be extremely dangerous. This time [78:41] Shadic breaks one across the 35 like [78:45] spears himself ahead for another couple [78:47] of yards. But now you're looking at [78:50] fourth and very long. So the Raiders [78:53] again will come out in punt formation [78:55] down 28. as we take a look again and you [78:58] know nice burst, nice vision, but you [79:02] can see Shady trying to shoulder the [79:03] whole load himself and he needs a little [79:06] bit of help if he's going to make some [79:09] impact plays. [79:11] [Applause] [79:13] >> Arnes at the 25, [79:17] ball at the 38. [79:20] Snap good Arnes left footed boot and [79:23] another spiral. This one with some [79:26] velocity and that's going to bring it [79:27] inside the 10. Picked up at the 8 yd [79:30] line across the 10 to the 15 down at the [79:33] 18 yd line. [79:36] The Chesco Hawks will start right there. [79:39] First down and 10. 244 to go here. [79:43] >> If Chaza scores and adds any type of [79:46] extra point, it will be running clock in [79:49] the fourth quarter. [79:50] >> I didn't want to say it, but we all know [79:52] it's uh we all know it's true. That was [79:54] a pretty good return there for Chaza. [79:56] All things considered, that was yet [79:58] another monster punt by by Arnes. [80:02] >> Now, if we could give a player of the [80:04] game so far for Hastings, number one [80:06] would definitely be that. [80:10] >> Here's the big fella under center, [80:13] Matthew Welter. Number nine. Hands off [80:16] on the trap up the middle and one man to [80:19] get him. Otherwise, that was a touchdown [80:22] and a long one at that. [80:24] Raiders look like Thompson got his hand [80:26] in there towards the end of it. We'll [80:28] take a peek at the replay and see how [80:30] this thing rounded out on a little [80:32] fullback trap. Haven't seen too much of [80:34] that stuff tonight either. [80:36] >> Yeah, whoever the safety or the corner [80:37] was on that far side just saved, you [80:40] know, about an 80 yardd touchdown run [80:42] right there that he was he was thinking [80:44] he once he saw the the the Red Sea split [80:47] there, he was he was thinking end zone [80:48] all the way. [80:49] >> 209 clock runs. Third quarter, 28- [80:51] nothing Hawks on the road here at Ton [80:53] Field in Hastings. Handoff goes out [80:56] right side again. Another gain of four, [80:57] maybe five, bending the spot with two [81:00] minutes to go. Smith carrying the [81:02] football again on that fullback trap [81:05] type play. Not as much option now here. [81:08] You know, you saw a lot of option in the [81:09] first half. Now it's been a lot of power [81:12] and eye and some of that stuff too that [81:15] they seem very comfortable running here [81:17] in the second half. And I always got to [81:19] credit credit Welter too. I mean, you [81:21] know, he's he's big, he's strong, he's [81:22] sneaky, fast, but he's also really good [81:24] at selling the play as well, and that's [81:26] kind of led to some of the success [81:28] they've had. [81:30] >> My guess at 67 is he also plays [81:32] basketball. [81:34] Chaza fans might have to correct me if [81:36] I'm wrong and comment on our YouTube [81:39] stream. Uh but he uh you'd think like I [81:44] said all of Zack Reedman with Forest [81:46] Lake all those years just a maybe a [81:48] multi-sport kid and but boy he looks the [81:51] part I'll tell you that much at 67 even [81:55] >> I'm just trying to think of quarterbacks [81:56] in the NFL that that were that tall like [81:59] a Mike Lennon maybe I mean but he wasn't [82:01] very [82:03] well known if you will in the 2000s. [82:07] Pitch out right side goes to the running [82:10] uh the wide receiver. They're going to [82:12] throw him ahead for a first down though [82:14] as taking the run is 81. And that's Luke [82:19] Racer. It's his second carry tonight. [82:21] And unfortunately, as you look at the [82:24] >> play here, they throw him ahead on the [82:26] tackle and it gives him a first down. [82:28] >> That's just the kind kind of night Chaza [82:30] has been having. I think the only recent [82:32] comparison to Minnesota football, I [82:34] believe it's a Chase Thompson. He was a [82:37] 67 quarterback. He could kind of run a [82:39] little bit for I think Alexandria, but [82:41] he went to go play, he was a four-star [82:42] basketball recruit and he went to go [82:44] play, I believe he plays at Clemson. [82:46] Now, [82:47] >> you Chaza fans also might have to help [82:49] me and tell me if Spencer Tixson was [82:52] ever a football player because I always [82:55] found it crazy that there was a 6'9, [82:57] 6'10 in pitcher that played baseball and [83:00] that was Tikken. He was fantastic for so [83:03] many years pitching for Chaza, but of [83:06] course went on to play basketball the [83:08] University of Minnesota. But I'm curious [83:11] if Tikson also played football. That [83:13] would be something that would be quite [83:14] interesting. But that will have to wait [83:16] for another time. We break at the end of [83:19] the third quarter. The Hawks leading the [83:22] Raiders 28- nothing after three quarters [83:25] on HCTV. [83:37] >> The United Heroes League mainly uses [83:39] sports as a bridge to help military [83:41] families stay active and engaged in [83:42] their communities. We have over 40 [83:44] professional teams that partner with us [83:46] for free tickets and camps. We provide [83:49] access to free sporting equipment. [83:51] >> UHL has provided us with a lot of [83:53] equipment and a lot of gear that is [83:54] otherwise sometimes hard to attain. [83:56] >> It's really cool. I get all this free [83:58] stuff and it's because of my great dad [84:01] who is a veteran. [84:04] >> UHL has been a great supporter not just [84:07] for our family but for all the military [84:09] families. [84:11] We're excited to see what the future [84:12] holds. We can't wait to see where it [84:14] goes [84:16] >> back live on a Friday. If you're [84:19] watching along on TV back home or on [84:22] YouTube on Friday the 12th, we welcome [84:25] you back. [84:27] >> No gain on the play. [84:28] >> No gain. I I like saying that. Third [84:32] down and the Raider defense makes a nice [84:35] play there with 1142 to go here. But [84:37] like you and I were just mentioning off [84:38] the air man a touchdown an extra point [84:40] here that can move the clock and really [84:42] put the Raiders out of it for good. [84:46] Wing T receivers to each side [84:52] under center. Oh that looked like [84:54] someone moved. I was going to say that [84:55] just didn't look right. [84:58] Penalty against Chaz will move him back [85:00] to about the original line of scrimmage. [85:02] So let's make a play here. I mean, we [85:04] need something to get us jacked up about [85:06] next week, you know? Let's make a couple [85:08] plays and at least make this thing look [85:10] interesting here. [85:11] >> I mean, nobody wants to hear me say [85:13] this, and it is sappy. But, I mean, you [85:15] really are playing for pride at this [85:17] point. You really are playing for next [85:18] week. [85:19] >> You know, you don't [85:21] you you've lost this game. I I'd be as [85:24] surprised as I've ever been if they came [85:25] back in this game. But, you're still [85:27] playing for pride. You're still playing [85:28] to learn. You're still playing to get [85:29] better. you know, you still have to go [85:31] out there and put forth a respectable [85:33] effort, which I think which I think [85:35] they'll do obviously, but you know, it's [85:37] it's true. You're not going to you're [85:38] probably not going to win them all. [85:40] >> And over 20ome years between coaches [85:42] Majesky and Strain over the years and [85:44] Saturday morning coaches shows Perkins [85:46] on the radio side of things that this [85:49] team never quits and they never have [85:50] quit under either coach. It's just how [85:52] it is a short run. We'll bring up fourth [85:54] down and the Raiders get a little W [85:56] here. That's a little slice of something [85:58] nice as now Hastings will force a [86:01] punting situation. Great tackle too [86:03] right around the line wrapping him up. [86:05] But again, even though wrapping him up, [86:08] still gaining a couple yards. I mean, [86:09] that's just how tough this JSA team is. [86:12] >> I was just going to say that's why that [86:13] penalty is so valuable cuz if it was if [86:15] it was third and five, I mean, he might [86:17] have dragged himself for a first down. [86:19] But yeah, that's just that's just how [86:20] they play. But let's just see something [86:22] here. Let's see a spark. Let's get the [86:24] goose egg off the board. Let's let's do [86:26] anything here. Let's play for for next [86:28] week. You [86:29] >> know, a guy who's back there can really [86:31] make something happen. And Shadex's [86:33] going to take a line drive punt. 25 to [86:35] the 30 ahead to the 34. Look like helmet [86:38] to helmet maybe. I don't know. [86:39] >> On the punt returners. [86:42] >> The Raiders will start at the 35. Let's [86:44] score a touchdown here. [86:45] >> This is an interesting punt return [86:47] because there's 10 Chesco Hawks in the [86:49] vicinity and you're not going to see a [86:51] single Raider. I mean, just doesn't even [86:53] look It looks like a game show or [86:54] something. Where's the Where's the [86:55] Raiders blockers? [86:58] >> Oh, you're going to need a block here. [87:00] I'll tell you that much. The ball first [87:03] and 10 at the 34 yd line their own. [87:06] We're under 10 minutes to play in [87:09] regulation. Dare I say the game. Yes, I [87:11] do. [87:13] >> Good shot there of the the Chaska crowd [87:15] coming out. It was well worth it. [87:17] >> Shotgun Hansen. Ball is tipped at the [87:21] line. [87:24] incomplete, [87:25] but that's the first time Raiders have [87:27] ran shotgun this evening. [87:30] So maybe trying to open it up, spread it [87:34] out, get the ball out maybe a little [87:36] quicker with a little more time. Maybe [87:39] >> sometimes there's a novelty to running [87:41] different offensive formations. We [87:43] really saw that in the new Bragg game [87:44] where they they on a single drive, they [87:46] came out in like five different [87:48] offensive formations. [87:49] >> It was Yep. At at the high school level, [87:52] it's it's hard to be good at even one [87:54] style of offense. [87:55] >> Playbooks are not easy, folks. Back to [87:57] pass. Hansen left side overthrew it. [88:01] >> Yeah, that just [88:04] >> little rushed. Hagen was close, but [88:08] again, just too quick, too much [88:12] happy feet in the pocket there. [88:17] Third and 10. Not much clock has come [88:20] off either. [88:21] >> They're so they're so close to showing [88:22] the pirate ship. [88:24] >> Oh yeah. [88:24] >> Oh, we're so close. There it is. There [88:26] it is. There it is back there. Yeah. [88:29] >> Our goal as a broadcast team is to [88:31] either broadcast a game from in there or [88:33] >> have a slumber party. [88:34] >> Slumber party and pizza. [88:36] >> We'll let you know how that develops. [88:39] Third and 10. Handoff Shadic. He gets [88:43] three out of bounds and two flags come [88:45] in. And that looks like something [88:47] against Hastings considering to where [88:49] the flag came from. [88:52] Oh boy, it's been one of those evenings. [88:56] I think the Raiders tomorrow, Saturday, [89:00] you know, it's going to be about 90. You [89:04] know, I'm going to team little team [89:06] bonding session. Go out to the beach. [89:08] You know, get the boys together, bring [89:10] the football out or the volleyball out. [89:12] Shake this thing off. Let's get back to [89:15] doing what we've done the last two [89:16] weeks. I know this isn't fun, but again, [89:19] you're playing a top 10 team, fans. For [89:21] those that are going, why is it 28 [89:24] nothing? Well, you're playing a top 10 [89:25] team. That was actually not against the [89:27] Raiders. Are you kidding me? That's that [89:28] that was against Ches. [89:31] >> Well, all right then. [89:32] >> The Raiders certainly thought that was [89:33] going to be [89:34] >> against Well, they're declining it. And [89:37] now the Raiders will have the punts. [89:39] >> Okay. Well, that makes more sense. [89:41] >> Yeah, you're going to have to have a [89:42] short memory with this. I mean, you're [89:44] on the road next week against Apple [89:45] Valley. That's [89:46] >> to put it nicely a [89:48] >> in Rosemont, by the way. [89:50] >> Yeah, in Rosemont 7:00. [89:52] >> That's probably probably a little step [89:54] down in competition. So, you know, the [89:57] Raiders, they they could be three in [89:58] one. You got to put this one past you. [90:00] >> You're exactly right. Short memory. Find [90:03] a way to do some fun stuff here in the [90:04] final 947. Oh, no. After some beauties [90:09] tonight, Arnest Shanks one. And that [90:12] might not have even gotten back to the [90:14] midfield strike. Oh boy. [90:16] >> You could just see that unfolding in re [90:18] in real time. The the the point of the [90:21] ball was when he dropped it was just all [90:24] messed up. Luckily, it's not going to [90:26] make too much of a a difference in in in [90:28] this game. It's not close enough to [90:30] matter. He's had a tremendous four or [90:33] five punts up up until that, but [90:36] sometimes that happens. H it just feels [90:39] like it's been that type of night for [90:42] our Raiders. [90:45] >> And again, I think they were a little [90:47] generous on on this spot as well. [90:52] >> The generosity [90:54] has been nice for us because we kind of [90:57] needed it to be honest, but I don't [90:58] think Jaz needed any help this evening, [91:00] leading 28- nothing. Four rushing [91:03] touchdowns by the quarterback Welters. [91:05] This one up the middle. Oh, he almost [91:06] lost that football. [91:08] >> But still a gain of about 10. And that [91:10] should be another first down. And the [91:12] Raiders have an injured player. Oh no. [91:14] >> And it's Derek Borman. And he is [91:16] grabbing his knee. That is not a cramp. [91:19] >> That is not a cramp. Maybe this will be [91:22] a good time to take a peek at one of our [91:24] supporters here of Hastings Community [91:26] Television. As again, we can't do it [91:29] without you folks out there. And if you [91:31] are a business, make sure you get back [91:32] to us at HCTV. What's one of our [91:35] favorite businesses in town, Mr. [91:37] Mailman? [91:37] >> Well, outside of Culver's, it's the the [91:39] Spoolhouse, who is a proud sponsor of [91:42] HCTV Sports. From prom to weddings, let [91:45] us suit your formal wear needs. More [91:46] information is available at [91:47] thespoolhouse.com/soing.html. [91:53] >> Maybe I need a blue and gold cor next [91:56] week. [91:56] >> And speaking of Culver, we're we're also [91:58] supported by Culver. A twofer right [92:00] here. [92:00] >> Oh boy. [92:01] >> We're supported by Culver's as well. So [92:02] that's where we'll be going after the [92:03] game. Culvers of Hastings, from savory [92:06] butter burgers to sweet scoops of frozen [92:07] custard, we've got something handcrafted [92:09] for everyone. You can visit us at our [92:11] location next to Cub Foods in Hastings. [92:13] >> Not just the regular flavors, too, but [92:15] they have a flavor of the day, folks. [92:16] And like it incorporates like any kind [92:19] of candy, yummies, you know, extras that [92:23] go in there, you know? It's really cool. [92:25] Let's take a look and see. Maybe we [92:27] could find out where Borman got pinched. [92:30] Oh, he got just absolutely obliterated [92:33] by a 300lb lineman and got kind of [92:36] rolled up upon, but it looked like he [92:39] was grabbing above his knee, which never [92:42] is a good sign. [92:44] >> Well, and we we talk a lot about the 345 [92:47] lb offensive lineman being a big and he [92:49] is a big boy, but there's this is a mass [92:52] this is a college this is a division [92:53] three division two sized offensive line. [92:56] These are are real big players and if [92:58] they roll up on you it's, you know, [93:01] Boardman's 200 lb, but yeah, sometimes [93:04] when it's when it's like that, [93:07] >> it's not good. [93:08] >> Oh, hi. [93:11] >> Max has us see all blue and golded out [93:14] tonight like usual. You guys wouldn't [93:16] think anything else of your favorite [93:18] Raider voice being all [93:21] >> if I got the gold. [93:22] >> But I'm not I'm not I'm not That's true. [93:25] Here, we'll we'll switch. This makes a [93:26] little more sense. [93:27] >> There. There we go. Now it's better. But [93:30] I just want to say hi to everybody back [93:31] home. Hi, Dallas. Hopefully you're at [93:33] home. I know my little buddy, he's had a [93:36] little bit of illness he's had to [93:37] overcome this week. So, he's at home [93:38] tonight with mama watching the Raiders. [93:41] So, I want to send a special hello to my [93:43] little buddy back home. Can't wait to go [93:44] fishing with you all weekend. [93:47] >> Special shout out to Captain Cadet and [93:51] uh one of the other dogs. I'm blanking [93:54] on the name, but they're watching the [93:55] game, too, from Cottage Grove. [93:56] >> All right, it's doggy night in the [94:00] Grove. Belmont will get a couple here. [94:02] 9:23 to go. Clock will tick, tick, tick, [94:05] tick, tick. And every single time the [94:08] white and purple fellas get up off the [94:10] pile. There's Big Matthew Welter to give [94:12] each of them a little five. And hey, [94:15] man, we're doing exactly what we wanted [94:17] to on the road tonight. His Chesa team [94:19] is a powerhouse fans and any team that [94:23] they play the rest of the season, [94:25] they're they're going to have their [94:26] hands full. I don't care if it's one of [94:28] the Mano schools. I don't care if it's I [94:30] don't care who it is. They're going to [94:32] have their hands full with Chesa as it [94:34] seems the last few years since they've [94:36] become their own school. They have been [94:39] wing team out and in motion to the back [94:41] field. They have the fullback trap wide [94:44] open spaces up across the 15 to the 10 [94:47] called the 8 yd line and it looks like [94:51] they have their closer in the game now [94:54] is Smith. Another big carry. And now [94:57] Smith's got to be close to 50 yds [94:59] tonight as he gets a nice run there and [95:02] a good tackle from behind as the Raiders [95:05] had a guy there and Landon Johnson. [95:09] >> Well, Tuck, how about this? Next week [95:11] they're playing Mano East who we've [95:12] mentioned. They're number three. Then [95:14] they're on the road at Mano West. Then [95:16] they come home to play Chanhassen who's [95:18] number one on the road at Wakonia who's [95:20] number seven. And then they finish off [95:22] against the familiar foe on the road [95:24] against Newrag who they're 0 and2. But I [95:26] mean we saw here you know they're [95:28] they're a live dog as well. [95:29] >> They get those big running backs [95:31] cooking. That could be a game that takes [95:33] 14 minutes to play and that's it. [95:35] There's a sack for the Raiders. Bicil [95:38] joined in the party there by an on [95:41] streaking Raider in number 11 Case and [95:43] Aster. So give them each a half a sack [95:46] and the Raiders first sack tonight comes [95:49] here in the fourth quarter. Great time [95:52] for it. But now you look at second down [95:54] and goal. And this team has had zero [95:57] fear no matter what the down has been [95:59] inside the red zone tonight. [96:02] >> And there's really been no opportunities [96:04] for sacks either. I mean, they've been [96:06] running the ball 80% of the time when [96:08] they pass the ball. They got great great [96:10] pass protection, and you know, they're [96:12] not they're not taking 8 seconds to [96:13] throw the ball either. [96:15] >> We have a new quarterback in the game. [96:17] So, that will do it for this evening for [96:20] Matthew Welter, who will finish with [96:21] four rushing touchdowns and over 100 [96:23] yardds on the ground. The handoff here [96:26] goes to Belmont. Again, the new [96:29] quarterback for Chesca is number 18. [96:32] That's Joseph Scott. And get this, [96:34] 61,153. This kid's a freshman, folks. [96:37] I'm telling you, this these teams on the [96:40] west side of the suburbs, they are not [96:42] afraid to start these kids as freshman. [96:45] And even though it's a late in the game [96:47] to get a quarterback on a Friday night [96:49] getting experience, this is so huge for [96:51] those guys. [96:54] Under center, Wing T again, single back. [96:56] Belmont gets the carry. He'll go across [96:59] the fifth. I'll throw him back across [97:01] the 15. We'll see where the spot goes. [97:03] Right on the the 11 when everything's [97:05] said and done. [97:06] >> So, you're saying he's 6'1 as a [97:08] freshman? I mean, there's plenty of time [97:10] to become 67 as a senior. [97:11] >> No kidding, dude. There's no beating [97:14] around that big bush. And the Raiders [97:17] here tonight have seen Welter run just [97:20] in touchdown yardage alone [97:24] for 94 [97:27] yards. I mean, that's just on his [97:29] touchdowns. [97:31] So, Welter, a game for him to remember, [97:34] no doubt, on the road. He will enjoy the [97:37] rest of this one from a co a cozy spot [97:39] next to his coach on the sideline. 6 [97:42] minutes to go. Smith the back in the [97:44] back field gets joined by Belmont. Smith [97:46] will be the one to take it and he'll get [97:48] about a yard, maybe two. And the Raiders [97:52] will take the football back on Downs. [97:54] and Chesa being very sportsmanesque [97:57] saying there's no reason to rub it in [98:00] and start that clock running. Hey [98:02] Raiders, we're going to give you another [98:03] drive with the clock of stoppage time. [98:06] And that's kind of nice. Raiders can get [98:08] a chance to come on do a little [98:10] something here offensively. And it looks [98:12] like they too are going to well they're [98:15] not going to switch up too much here. [98:16] Birkkins out there. N Yeah, we got [98:19] pretty much everybody out there. Let's [98:21] see if Shady can maybe this is where [98:23] Shady breaks that big one we were [98:24] talking about. [98:26] >> It would be cathartic to see it. [98:28] >> Well, if he gets 90 here, he's got 100 [98:30] yards tonight. There he goes breaking [98:31] one tackle. 15 1617. Nice little run on [98:35] first down for Shaney. Gained about six. [98:38] [Music] [98:41] >> Shane such a fun kid. I watched his [98:44] interview this past week with Randy [98:47] Shaver on the strip prep steel and he's [98:52] such a wellspoken young man. I mean, [98:54] playing as a sophomore last year, he [98:55] grew on the fly and we watched him grow [98:58] and over a thousand yards, but now [99:00] realizing he's a leader and like I said, [99:02] so well spoken and smart young man and [99:05] just so excited to see not only the rest [99:07] of this year, but next year and beyond. [99:09] What he will do is he breaks through and [99:11] he finds room 40 midfield [99:15] by Shady Shadic. And there it is. He [99:18] goes 83 to the house and guess what? his [99:22] third straight 100yard game this year [99:26] and he broke the big daddy [99:29] at a baby. Shady, way to put the team on [99:32] your back, find the seam and off he went [99:37] with 501 to go. Shady to the house. It's [99:41] good to see that the Raiders are still [99:43] trying. The offense is showing signs of [99:45] life all you know little too late but [99:48] you know you're you're playing for next [99:49] week. you're playing for the rest of the [99:50] season. And yeah, man, it feels good to [99:52] see him cuz, you know, he's been trying [99:54] real hard on some of these carries, but [99:56] there's just nowhere to go. There's [99:58] nowhere to go except backwards on on [100:00] some of these plays. So, to to see that [100:02] here, Weber kick. Yes. [100:08] 28-7. [100:10] And a hat tip to Chaza, too, because [100:12] like we said, fans, they could have [100:14] found a way to run that clock out on the [100:16] Raiders. and instead Shady 83. Look at [100:20] him just plow through there. And as soon [100:23] as he pinled off three wouldbe tacklers, [100:27] it was off to Walgreens. [100:29] >> And Shaney finds the soccer goals of the [100:32] sign of the cross to thank the man above [100:35] with 501 to go. [100:37] >> You are not gonna arm tackle him. I [100:38] don't care how many arms you have. I [100:40] don't care if you have four arms. [100:41] There's the beautiful [100:43] >> grid iron the uh the pirate ship there. [100:45] That's where me and Shady Shadic are [100:47] going to be celebrating later for that [100:49] touchdown. But yeah, you're you you [100:52] could have eight arms. You're not you're [100:53] not taking him down. You have to bring [100:54] him down through the ground. That's what [100:56] I think people appreciate appreciate [100:58] about him the the most outside of [100:59] obviously the greatness is every single [101:02] play is not over until he is firmly on [101:05] the ground. And even even down four [101:07] scores, you still see that. [101:10] He's so fun to watch. And when he gets [101:13] into open space and he turns on that [101:15] jetpack, [101:17] >> oh my. [101:19] >> Selfishly, I'm I'm really hoping the [101:20] Gophers end up taking a a look at this [101:23] guy. [101:24] >> Yeah, I I really would like to see that [101:26] myself. I know there are some smaller D1 [101:30] schools that have even reached out to [101:32] me. Yes. tell your TV guy asking about [101:36] statistics and asking about him himself [101:40] and you know I mean when you start [101:42] getting calls as the TV broadcaster guy [101:46] and you know that this guy's special and [101:49] and and and there are people that are [101:51] going to look at him usually your junior [101:53] year is that big year when it comes to [101:55] recruiting to make a decision perhaps I [101:58] know kids love to get that decision out [102:00] of the way timeout by the way on the [102:01] field folks before the kick but Um but [102:04] but to just find a way to to you know [102:06] continue everything the way that we've [102:08] been doing things and you know it's an [102:10] important thing I think for this whole [102:11] Raider program and really everybody else [102:13] that comes to watch these kids every [102:15] week. [102:17] >> Yeah. You you really get the sense that [102:18] he's a special a special kid and at at [102:21] you know at the very least he's going to [102:23] be [102:24] >> probably doing something special at the [102:25] at the next level as well. [102:29] I know I've gotten to know his mom and [102:31] dad on social media more than anything. [102:33] I want to run into them actually, but [102:35] they're just so well behind him. And [102:37] that that's what I love about Hastings [102:39] is, you know, we all love to speak well [102:43] about each other's kids in this [102:44] community. And that's going to be a [102:46] pretty good kickoff because it's [102:48] actually going to be taken on a knee at [102:49] the 20 on a knee. So that's where Chaza [102:52] will have to start with her twos. 5 [102:54] minutes to go here in a 28-7 Chesa lead [102:57] over the Raiders. But hey, you and I [103:00] both said, "Let's build something for [103:01] next week. Let's get something to go [103:03] here for for for for Apple Valley to [103:05] take us into the weekend." You know, and [103:07] we're not done. I mean, we make another [103:09] play here and get the ball back. You [103:10] make this two-score game, I'm not going [103:13] to be mad at it. I'm just not. I mean, [103:14] if we would have went down 35 nothing [103:16] there and the clock would have ran down [103:18] and been good night Irene, I would have [103:19] had different feelings. But hey, like [103:21] coach Strain has always said, our team [103:24] plays until the final buzzer, and we've [103:26] seen that tonight. [103:27] >> It's the It's the yin and the yang. You [103:28] got to find the positive and the [103:30] negative and the negative and the [103:31] positive. And you know, just cuz you're [103:32] you're going to lose this one doesn't [103:33] mean that, you know, you can't take some [103:35] momentum forward. [103:36] >> Fumble picked back up again. Smith had [103:38] it, lost it, finds his bearings, and [103:41] actually gains a couple yards out of [103:43] that. Raiders almost got that ball back [103:46] down near the red zone. Let's take a [103:48] peek at this again as Smith got it and [103:50] kind of juggled it a little bit. Maybe [103:53] not a clean hand off, but you find a way [103:56] to make a little do with what you have [103:58] with your twos in with the offensive [104:00] line. That's a pretty good run for that [104:02] young man. [104:02] >> That's the most Chaza thing I've ever [104:04] seen. Fumbling the ball for a game. [104:08] >> Oh, it's a good team. [104:10] >> Best back home watching too. We will be [104:14] hoping for you guys another fumble. The [104:16] Raiders get this one back. Ball still [104:17] loose. Who's got it? Raiders got it. [104:19] Raiders just got a football back, didn't [104:21] they? Yes. Hastings football. Yeah. [104:26] Yeah. [104:28] All right. Let's go do it again, boys. [104:30] You're knocking on the door. They [104:32] threaten to fumble at last play. This [104:33] time they do. Let's take a peek at this [104:35] again. It looked like just a a [104:37] mishandled snap. Yeah, sure. It was off [104:39] the fingertips. little little buttered [104:41] popcorn before he went out there like uh [104:43] Brucey used to say in uh [104:46] >> what's that movie called again? Darn it. [104:47] Why the longest yard Brucey? He'd fumble [104:50] the ball and he said, "I just had [104:51] popcorn." Well, that might have been [104:52] what happened there. [104:54] >> Well, it it's no coincidence that [104:55] there's two consecutive fles there's [104:58] something going on. what they're [105:00] research something of miscommunication [105:02] or somehow I mean it's yeah you don't uh [105:07] >> there could [105:08] you know we'll just be glad the camera [105:10] was not pointing at you [105:11] >> no I mean Garrett Bradberry that's all I [105:13] have to say pass up into the end zone [105:15] touchdown Raiders Matt Foss gets back [105:19] behind the coverage and we're not done [105:23] yet [105:25] 23 yd touchdown pass Hansen one of his [105:29] best passes of the year. [105:31] >> And he connects to Mattie Foss. Let's [105:34] take a peek here. Nice little slant. [105:37] Matty finds his way to the right side [105:40] behind the coverage. What a grab. Good [105:42] adjustment to make it 2813. [105:45] >> This kid Hansen is so good at throwing [105:47] on the run for for his experience. It's [105:50] unreal. Weber hits it. All of a sudden, [105:54] we have a twocore game. [105:56] is good [105:57] >> at 2814. [106:00] >> Nice little boot from Weber. [106:02] >> Well, now this game starts to feel [106:04] really different in terms of taking [106:06] away, you know, positive takeaways. [106:08] You're starting to show something here. [106:09] You you you wish this would have came [106:11] maybe in the third quarter [106:12] >> or something. It might be it's probably [106:14] a little too late here. They might have [106:16] woken up uh the Hawks here. You got to [106:19] figure that they they flipped back on [106:21] here. But it's it's good to see that [106:23] they're [106:25] still strumming along or starting to [106:27] strum along for the first time tonight. [106:29] We'll take another look at the the [106:31] touchdown pass here again. Just [106:34] beautiful. Look at on a rope, [106:35] >> man. And and he he didn't have both feet [106:38] on the ground. I mean, that was not an [106:39] easy pass, but he like you said, Hansom [106:42] makes it look easy when he moves on the [106:44] run on those, you know, either boots or [106:46] or roll outs or whatever. and he has [106:50] found success with it. I mean, a couple [106:52] of passes that found their way weirdly [106:54] to Lundstrom actually were were very [106:57] important at the time. Now, we have an [106:59] opportunity down two scores, 415 to go. [107:03] Jasica's probably want to go back to I [107:05] don't want to say their old offensive [107:06] people, but at least have a possession [107:08] like that to take the clock away now [107:12] when [107:13] we will have a reine, [107:16] >> you know, and and it see and it seems [107:18] like it's about decision making for [107:20] Hansen, not not the physical ability or [107:22] the technique cuz he's got he's starting [107:23] to get that down real nice. [107:25] >> High on side this kick. Yep. And it was [107:29] that's a very good decision by the [107:32] Raider coaching staff to at least give [107:34] that an opportunity. Good effort there [107:37] by Weber trying the onside kick. And [107:40] let's take a look at the bounce here. He [107:42] got that first bounce. It just didn't go [107:44] up like you'd like it to. That was [107:46] really good form on that kickoff from a [107:49] kid that hasn't exactly been kicking all [107:52] the time. That was pretty impressive. [107:54] >> And they got their starters back in. [107:56] here. No, we weren't kidding. All right, [107:59] back into the game. Welzer [108:02] handoff goes up the middle and a gain of [108:05] only a couple. [108:08] Grey House also back in the game. So, [108:10] yeah, the starters back in now for Chaz. [108:14] The Raiders have taken advantage of [108:16] their twos [108:17] and a couple of nifty offensive plays, [108:20] including Shady Shadic's [108:24] hurricane of a run up the field. I mean, [108:26] once he got past midfield, you know, he [108:28] was gone. And then that pass to Foss and [108:31] a great catch. [108:33] Great adjustment. Wing T again, man in [108:36] motion to back field. That's one of the [108:37] receivers. Fake the handoff keeper. It's [108:40] going to be the quarterback. Oh, and [108:41] that thing was nearly ripped out there [108:44] on the play. Hastings had one of their [108:47] guys, El Shadenko, who got in there and [108:49] he nearly took that thing out of there. [108:50] And boy, if the Raiders get that [108:52] football back, then this really becomes [108:55] crazy. [108:56] >> Yeah, no kidding. Especially with the [108:58] recent explosivity for the the Raiders [109:00] offense. But you're right, he just kind [109:01] of [109:02] >> wraps around behind him and Yeah, he [109:04] nearly got his his hand in there. [109:08] [Applause] [109:10] [Music] [109:16] Crucial third down here. [109:20] 257 to go. [109:23] Here's the keeper [109:27] and that will be a first down. Welter [109:30] runs it for about five and that's enough [109:33] for a first down. [109:35] >> First down. [109:37] and he's just so good in those short [109:39] yardage situations. It's kind of funny [109:41] because he, you know, he's 67. You can [109:44] you can he stands out over everybody, [109:46] but even though you can you can see [109:48] where he's making the progress. I mean, [109:50] nobody's having too much success [109:52] >> after taking them down. [109:53] >> I'm sorry, Mailman. After the game, [109:55] we're going to have a little recap of [109:56] some of the touchdowns coming up as [109:58] well, and we'll take a look at those [109:59] after this game is over. [110:02] [Music] [110:03] >> Wing T again, man in motion to the back [110:06] field. one of the receivers. This time [110:07] the Raiders stop Grey House and they [110:10] might have actually gotten him behind [110:11] the line this time. Very close if not to [110:13] the line, but the Raider D doing their [110:15] thing here and they're not calling [110:16] timeouts. So, we'll see what ends up [110:20] coming to be here. But I am so proud of [110:22] our kids right now, Mailman, because [110:24] this squad could have just mailed it in [110:26] with 12 minutes to go. A whole fourth [110:28] quarter, the whole bit. They didn't do [110:30] that. They came back, not only made a [110:32] couple of statements, but made them put [110:33] their first team back into the game. I [110:36] mean, if you're the Raiders right now, [110:37] you got to be excited heading over to [110:40] Rose Roosevelt to play Apple Valley next [110:41] week. [110:42] >> We don't want them mailing in anything. [110:43] That's That's for me. [110:44] >> That's your job. [110:47] >> I'm out of work if they do. [110:49] >> And off left side, Grey House. First [110:51] down. And there goes that whole thing as [110:53] he's gone for a touchdown. And well, [110:56] 3414. [110:57] >> He's running to Rosemount now. [110:59] >> You are not kidding. That'll pretty well [111:01] do it. Well, like I was saying, I think [111:03] you score those two touchdowns really [111:05] quick. It's it's good to see obviously, [111:07] but you did awaken Chesa. You know, they [111:10] they put their backups in. They were [111:12] ready to call this quits. You made it [111:14] interesting. And they bring in their [111:15] starting quarterback. They bring in [111:16] their starting running back, Great [111:18] House. And there you see, I mean, good [111:19] to see that he's uh, you know, back in [111:21] the game. Maybe not so much from a [111:23] scoreboard perspective if you're a [111:25] Hastings fan, but [111:26] >> I'm going to say that was a little [111:27] statement too from Chaza just to say, [111:30] you know, it wasn't that close. You [111:32] know, they they want to say, "All right, [111:33] you know, you got a couple on our twos, [111:35] but we're going to come back and prove [111:37] that we have controlled this game." [111:41] >> There's a little malice shirt. You know [111:43] that. You know that. And the flickering [111:48] uh phone lights far side waving goodbye [111:51] to the Raiders. And they are walking [111:53] their way to the gates are the Raiders [111:55] student section. So [111:57] >> they're not wrong. [111:57] >> They're not wrong. That's uh about it [112:00] for the Raiders here. And we'll find out [112:03] if they can maybe return one and maybe [112:05] they throw Sheny back there to try. But [112:07] there's no reason to get him hurt right [112:08] now with the game where it is and [112:10] everything is pretty well determined. [112:13] After the game, we'll have a little [112:14] recap of some of the scores coming up [112:16] here. [112:18] And then don't forget if you're watching [112:20] live, you can always rewatch this game, [112:22] especially you Chaza fans, and have a [112:23] lot of fun watching it again. Or if you [112:26] were here tonight, want to rewatch it, [112:28] go to our YouTube, Hastings Community [112:30] Television, find it there. [112:34] We've had fun tonight, even though it [112:35] hasn't gone the Raiders way. We saw some [112:37] good things, but the Raiders taking on a [112:39] top 10 team in the state. We'll see [112:41] another one later on in the year in the [112:42] final game of the regular season at MEA [112:47] Wednesday. [112:49] >> It was a very good litmus test. You know [112:51] where you stack up against the best. [112:53] >> That's why I'm not mad. I'm not at all. [112:56] That's going to be a touch pack. There's [112:58] no reason to be. I mean, again, you know [113:00] who you're up against. First time with [113:02] this new nucleus to take on a team [113:04] that's ranked in the top 10. And like [113:07] you and I mentioned in the second half [113:08] too early in the second half is you know [113:11] you know what you have to do now to [113:13] contain a team like that or to beat a [113:15] team like that and and you know what [113:17] that also lingers to a team like St. [113:19] Thomas because you know they're going to [113:21] always be in the swing of things when it [113:22] comes to a top sectional seed. You might [113:24] have to see them in a championship game. [113:26] So there's a lot of different places [113:28] that this game tonight can be used as a [113:30] learning experience to make this team [113:32] grow as we get towards playoffs. And and [113:34] the good thing is too, not to discredit [113:36] Apple Valley or Two Rivers, but there is [113:38] levels to this. You can never sleep on [113:40] anybody, but their next two games are [113:41] Apple Valley and Two Rivers. So, they [113:43] have a couple of weeks before you face [113:45] another really top caliber team. So, [113:47] it's not just a week. [113:49] >> Oh, almost a first down catch. Looking [113:52] far side. Good pass there by Hansen, [113:55] too. [113:56] just misconnected there off the [113:58] fingertips as the Raiders sent out one [114:01] of their running back or I should say [114:03] yeah running backs in Hagen kind of a [114:05] waiting back if you will. [114:08] >> Proud of the guys. I I really am. I you [114:10] know I I came in with not a whole lot of [114:13] expectations just because I haven't seen [114:16] Chaza live you know since gosh long time [114:20] for that matter. might have been in the [114:22] playoffs back when Woodenberry, you know [114:23] what I mean, back when they were, well, [114:26] Chaska Chanhasen for that matter. Still, [114:28] here's Hansen on the run again. Throws [114:29] out a pass. That's going to be caught. [114:31] First down Raiders. And that one this [114:32] time is caught by the affforementioned [114:36] Elliot Hagen. Nice grab there. [114:39] >> That is complete to Elliot. [114:41] >> Yeah, you know, you get in the end zone [114:43] again. I mean, I'm not going to, you [114:45] know, complain about it. Let's find a [114:47] way. [114:48] >> One more quick one. Let's score another [114:50] one. Minute 19 to go in this one. Hansen [114:53] passes, has a mat, caught Berken. Three [114:56] guys on him, shakes a tackle, carries [114:59] half the Chaza student body to the 41 [115:02] before he's thrown back by half the [115:05] defense. So Berken showing his strength [115:08] that we know he has the after the catch [115:12] stuff that we know he can do. And [115:14] >> no fear in Berken whatsoever. [115:16] >> Takes half a defense to tackle him. [115:19] Literally pitch on Shady 45 midfield [115:25] carries a couple of tackles. First down. [115:29] Shady will be over a 100. We'll check in [115:32] with Dick Craig later on. And we'll have [115:34] more in our next broadcast of course on [115:37] what has happened the last, you know, [115:39] week and a half. You know, when we have [115:40] the fun stuff coming up, of course, back [115:45] for homecoming. Anyway, that's going to [115:47] be coming up. And there's a pass. Foss, [115:50] how many receptions does Matty Foss have [115:52] had? He might have five or six tonight [115:53] now. Four or five, probably. [115:55] >> I I really like that they're still [115:56] trying here. You can tell this game [115:58] really still does matter to this team [116:00] cuz they're they're still pushing and [116:01] shoving. They're still playing with [116:02] tempo. They're still playing with [116:04] passion. [116:05] >> Yes, [116:06] >> this is not a meaningless [116:08] >> situation for the players. [116:09] >> So proud of my team right now. I'm [116:13] extremely proud of our kids that came [116:15] out in full force tonight. You Pink [116:18] student fans were fantastic. I know you [116:20] didn't have much to yell about until [116:22] later in the game, but you kids have [116:24] shown me nothing but sportsmanship here [116:26] throughout the year. As you look at the [116:28] Raiders two wins that'll get their first [116:30] loss here tonight before going to [116:32] Rosemount next week to play Apple [116:34] Valley. It is now a 7:00 start at [116:36] Rosemound and then Two Rivers back home. [116:39] St. Thomas Academy on the road for their [116:42] homecoming. Burnsville back home before [116:44] we go to East on a Wednesday and round [116:46] out the regular season before opening up [116:49] the playoffs that weekend. [116:53] >> We're not doing that Mano game, are we? [116:55] >> Hunter, we better not be. [116:59] Unless Unless he's paying for our hotel [117:01] and all of our Culver's down there, too. [117:06] We'll talk turkey after the game. 29 [117:08] seconds left. Here's Hansen. Oh, nearly [117:10] picked. [117:12] Okay. [117:12] >> And you better believe they would have [117:13] ran that one back. [117:14] >> That would have been a touchdown. [117:16] >> That would have been a touchdown. [117:22] >> Broken up by number 25. [117:24] >> Tell me both. What? Big thumbs down. [117:28] >> Oh, this down. Oh, like that. I'm [117:31] trying. [117:32] That was down. I think unless my volume [117:35] went down the [117:37] drain, perhaps. [117:42] One receiver out to the right side. That [117:44] is Foss. [117:47] >> 26 seconds. Back to pass again. Caught [117:50] Shady. 40 35 30 out of bounds. Stop the [117:54] clock. We're going to score again. I [117:56] Let's go. Let's do it, boys. [117:58] >> Shady is going to try. [117:59] >> Let's go. Yeah. Shady just looking so [118:02] good again. Well, and not that not that [118:04] it's just about patting your stats [118:06] obviously, but I mean at the end of [118:08] this, you know, through three quarters, [118:11] they kind of contained them. I think [118:12] when we get the final stats from from [118:14] Dick Craig at, you know, 11:30 tonight, [118:18] >> I think he's going to have a surprising [118:19] amount of of yards. [118:21] >> And we'll tell you what, the fact that [118:22] we get our stats at 11:30 at night, the [118:25] game, the day of the game, that's how [118:27] good Dick Craig is, folks. [118:28] >> Oh, he's the best. [118:29] >> Oh my goodness. That's intercepted. [118:31] flag. [118:33] We might keep this. [118:36] We might keep this. I I I don't know if [118:38] this is on us or not. It's a It's be [118:41] unsportsome against us. Okay, that'll do [118:44] it. Knee and we're going to go home and [118:46] we're going to go to Culver's actually [118:47] first. [118:49] Again, special thank you to the [118:51] Schoolhouse and to Culver's of Hastings. [118:53] We love you. Thank you for continuing to [118:56] put these games on the air. And if you [118:57] too would like to help save community [118:59] television, please do so. Because with [119:01] more and more people cutting cable each [119:02] day, funding for community TV stations [119:04] is in rapid decline. To help keep these [119:07] games on the air, we need need your [119:10] support. To learn more about how you can [119:12] get involved, head to save community.com [119:15] for more information or consider leaving [119:17] a donation at hastingsv.org/donate. [119:21] And that way you can get it right to us [119:23] in Hastings. It will go to support [119:25] Hastings programs, Hastings content for [119:28] you. And of course, we couldn't do it [119:30] without our wonderful cast of [119:32] characters. I mean, you know, all of our [119:34] cameramen that that dealt with rain and [119:37] everything else throughout the day. [119:38] Hunter that's been pulling his hair out [119:40] for the good all night long to let you [119:42] guys all be part of this one tonight. [119:44] 3514 Raiders do get it back. That [119:46] unsportsmanlike conduct is actually [119:49] against Chaska, not Hastings. Not [119:51] Hastings. Good news. So Berken with a [119:54] catch here will keep the game going for [119:57] albeit a moment. One more time out with [119:59] 6 seconds. [120:01] >> And you got to feel there's probably a [120:02] little frustration from Chaza knowing [120:04] that they're they're still playing down [120:06] to the final play. If you're Chesa, you [120:08] got to be like, "Hey, this game's over." [120:09] I mean, you got to feel they feel some [120:11] type of way about them still trying when [120:13] they probably felt, you know, before [120:15] they scored it was all over. As we take [120:16] a look at their schedule, like we talked [120:18] about earlier, this does not get any [120:20] easier. that I mean and and you know [120:23] what to be honest and this team could [120:25] very well run the table. They're that [120:27] good. But if they do run the table and [120:29] you and I are talking that MEA about, [120:31] hey, what's Chaza doing? And we find out [120:33] that them and new, you know, they're [120:34] blowing NRA out 42 nothing. You and I [120:36] are going to look at each other and go, [120:38] we're not shocked. This team is that [120:40] good. So I mean, wow, what a schedule, [120:42] you know, and if they're able to put [120:43] together a big winning season, they [120:46] deserve to be at to which the spot the [120:48] seed that they get in the upcoming [120:49] playoffs. Th this loss is probably going [120:52] to age very well for Hastings. I if if [120:55] Chaza ended up being a three or four win [120:57] team, I would be as shocked as I've been [120:59] about anything. [121:00] >> For QRF seating, stuff like that. I [121:02] mean, this is going to look a lot better [121:04] in the Pioneer Press tomorrow morning, [121:05] if you know what I mean. [121:06] >> Well, scoring the two touchdowns is [121:08] going to look better, too. [121:09] >> Out of the gun, Hansen. Oh, that should [121:11] be a flag. No flag, but you get one more [121:14] play. [121:14] >> I think you're going to be hardressed [121:15] for them to call one in this. [121:17] >> Oh, give me one. [121:19] I'm going to cry for one all day and [121:20] we'll see. Maybe their feet got caught [121:22] up as we look at the replay. [121:25] >> Hansen back and n they just got tangled [121:27] up. [121:28] >> Probably wasn't a catchable [121:29] >> intended for Lundstrom who kind of [121:31] deserves a touchdown. Made a couple nice [121:33] catches and the game was still really in [121:36] play, if you will. Ky, nice to see Coach [121:40] Culvin. [121:44] Always nice to see my goalie friend. We [121:47] all stick together. You all know that. [121:50] Saw another goalie this last weekend. [121:52] We'll talk about that in a moment. Out [121:53] of the shotgun. Final play of the game. [121:56] Hansen puts it up. Hit from behind and a [121:59] flag on the play. So, this might not be [122:01] over quite yet. [122:02] >> It is absolutely going to be an [122:04] offensive holding. And the game is over. [122:06] Of that, I'm certain. [122:08] >> Mailman is always right. Hence, [122:10] unfortunately, the game ends. Your final [122:13] score tonight 3514. The Raiders fall. [122:16] But I am so happy and proud of the way [122:19] this team played against the top 10 team [122:21] in the state. And I know Melman, you [122:22] feel the same way. And you and I are [122:24] very excited about what's going to [122:26] happen next week at Rosemont because [122:28] like you said, this is a team that [122:30] doesn't have that line. This is a team [122:31] that has struggled a bit as we take a [122:33] look at some of these touchdowns tonight [122:35] led by that big quarterback and Matthew [122:37] Welter. [122:38] >> Yeah, I believe that was the 39yd [122:41] touchdown here in the in the third [122:42] quarter. And then here's the uh the [122:44] fourth quarter touchdown here from [122:46] Shadic which kind of led the uh I don't [122:47] want to say a mini comeback cuz they I [122:49] feel the game probably was firmly in the [122:51] hands of the Chesco Hawks. But you know [122:53] that's what started it here for [122:54] Hastings. Shadock gets his touchdown [122:56] helps his yard total. [122:59] Really kept the Raiders in the game [123:01] mentally too which is is so important. [123:03] And then here's the the final touchdown [123:04] of the game. It's a 22 yd completion [123:06] from Hansen to Foss. beautifully placed [123:11] pass. [123:13] And then here's the uh the final [123:16] touchdown for Chesa. That's the great [123:18] house, a 40, 50 yd touchdown run. [123:24] But you're you're totally right. I mean, [123:25] if they finish this game and it's 28 to [123:28] nothing, 35 to nothing, I think you feel [123:30] a lot different than it being 35 to 14 [123:33] where the Raiders kept in it. You know, [123:35] they didn't care about the score. They [123:36] they went out to play into they were [123:38] calling timeouts down 21 with 9 seconds [123:41] to go. I mean, I think you feel as good [123:43] as you can about a lot. Still a loss. [123:45] It's still It still sucks. [123:47] >> Yeah. [123:47] >> But I think I think you feel there's a [123:50] lot of silver linings in this in this [123:52] game for sure. [123:53] >> Raiders fall tonight. The final score [123:55] 3514 as the Chesco Hawks celebrate with [124:00] their students section. It's a great [124:02] time to sign it off for the night. [124:03] Raiders will go to Rosemont to take on [124:05] Apple Valley next week. And here on [124:08] HCTV, we have Hastings Raiders girls [124:10] swim and dive their season underway. A [124:12] big one with Mameidi. That coming up on [124:14] the 18th. And then we got the soccer [124:16] double header with Simley back home. [124:18] That's going to be a great showdown. [124:20] Likely to be a highscoring affair. [124:22] Hastings football back home with Two [124:24] Rivers. I can't wait for that one. It's [124:26] going to be fun on the 26. And of [124:28] course, the soccer double header at home [124:29] at Bameidi. That could have conference [124:32] championship implications even at that [124:34] time. Yes. So, lots of fun coming up [124:36] folks for the mailman Owen Elely. I'm [124:38] Nick Tuckner. I want to thank Hunter [124:40] Pinky, Ian Andersonac, Max Sllo, Kurt [124:43] Radkkey, Tory Selner. All you guys are [124:45] rock stars and the reason why we were [124:46] able to put this game on tonight in the [124:49] face of adversity with the weather. [124:51] Hunter was going crazy all night. But [124:53] like I said, for the good, this man made [124:55] us go tonight. And all those cameramen [124:56] out there, they did the same. Thank you [124:58] to everybody who joined us tonight. Best [125:00] of luck to the Chesa Hawks. We will be [125:02] pulling from for you from Hastings this [125:04] year. No doubt about that as they [125:06] continue a very tough schedule. Final [125:09] score tonight 3514 for Mailman. I'm [125:11] Tuck. We'll send it back to the studio. [125:13] Good night, everyone.
