This year, all of our [4:19] orchestra students are in one class, 9 [4:22] through 12. So, what we've been doing a [4:24] little bit is kind of mixing and [4:25] matching some music. So, tonight you're [4:27] going to see a lot of different [4:28] ensembles. This is your first ensemble [4:30] this evening consisting of mainly 9th [4:32] graders and 10th graders. And then after [4:34] this group is done, we'll then have our [4:36] juniors and seniors sort of concert [4:39] group. And then I'd love to show you our [4:42] newest addition to our orchestra program [4:43] is going to be our chamber orchestra. [4:46] And then of course last but definitely [4:47] not least will be a combination of all [4:49] of the students performing together 9th [4:51] and 9th through 12th all together. Okay. Really fast, really [12:05] energetic, and a lot of fun to play. The [12:07] second one is kind of more of a [12:10] I don't know how you want to describe [12:11] it. There's a lot of neat qualities to [12:13] it. unique uh playing styles. We're [12:16] going to do tremolo with smooth bows, [12:19] some snap piticado. There will be some [12:21] auxiliary percussion as well. The second [12:23] one we're going to do in this set is [12:25] going to be called the evil eye and the [12:26] hideous heart. It is actually taken from [12:30] some of Edgar Allan Poe's writings to [12:33] then construct the music around. [12:38] All right, we're going to get this next [12:39] set up and running. One thing you may [23:18] have noticed within this particular [23:20] group, even though I have mentioned that [23:22] it's a junior senior's group, you may [23:23] have noticed that some of our [23:25] underassmen, our freshman, sophomore [23:27] stuck around and they're still working [23:28] on this music. They've been working [23:30] really hard, they still wanted that [23:31] challenge and they're like, I can handle [23:33] it. So, they even were playing in that [23:35] group as well. So, as as I had mentioned [23:37] before, our classes are combined 912 and [23:40] just getting creative with how we're [23:42] just moving things around. So that is [23:44] giving those students that opportunity [23:45] or that chance or choice to work on that [23:48] harder music or even be like, you know [23:49] what, I'm not ready for this. I'm going [23:51] to take take a step back. So that's been [23:53] a really great opportunity for these [23:54] particular students. One thing I have [23:57] started this year is a before school [23:58] club. I know, gross. That's awful. 700 [24:01] a.m., but these kids are doing it. We [24:03] have one piece to perform for you today [24:06] after only five rehearsals. So this [24:09] music is tough. It's challenging, but [24:11] these kids wanted the opportunity for [24:14] something more. So, we've been coming to [24:16] school early and playing our [24:18] instruments. So, this next piece is [24:20] called Surge. It's one of my favorites. [24:22] It's a lot of fun to play. It's a lot of [24:23] fun to conduct, and it's a lot of fun to [24:25] hear as well.
