[0:00] It's already December and the new year [0:03] is already right around the corner. [0:05] There's so many exciting things on the [0:07] docket for 2026, including Hockey Day [0:09] Minnesota. But before we get to 2026, we [0:13] wanted to host a special edition of [0:15] Raider Recap to highlight some [0:17] individual and team successes from the [0:19] 2025 athletic season. To kick things [0:23] off, we sat down with Nolan St. Saver, a [0:26] Hastings High School student and a [0:27] Dakota United Hawks player who's won [0:30] backto back adapted state titles in both [0:32] softball and soccer. [0:37] [music] [0:39] Hello, I'm Nolan Saint. I am a [music] [0:42] sophomore and I participate in the [0:44] Dakota Night Hawks and I play adaptive [0:47] soccer and I play hockey softball and I [0:51] won the soccer championship and the [0:53] softball [music] championship. I was the [0:55] tournament MVP in adaptive soccer. We [0:57] were 62 actually 722 cuz we we played an [1:01] extra game to make it to the [music] [1:02] state tournament. I'm just really happy [1:05] we made it to the state tournament. So [1:07] my soccer was at White Beer Lake [music] [1:09] High School and my hockey was at [1:12] Rapids and my softball was at [1:14] Chanhassen. [music] We we did not win [1:16] the floor hockey championship because we [1:19] didn't play very good. We won the [1:20] softball championship [1:23] and we [music] won soccer 5 to1 against [1:27] South Washington. They were on a [1:30] dominant team. [1:32] Our team's really good. And Jacob, the [1:36] goalie, he was insane. He was a really [1:39] good [music] goalie. He kept saving all [1:42] of them. [1:44] And wow, he's just really good. [1:48] All my cousins, aunts, mom, dad [music] [1:52] were all at the state tournament with me [1:54] and they were cheering me on and my aunt [1:56] made a poster of me that [music] it [1:58] says, "Watch out for number nine to [2:02] score." I scored 13 goals in the state [2:05] tournament. I [music] scored two in the [2:06] first game, six in the second, and five [2:08] in the in the championship game. And [2:11] Josh assisted me a couple of [music] [2:13] times and I'm just really [2:17] happy for the championship. I just got [2:19] this gold [music] medal. It's really [2:21] awesome. [2:22] >> What was the feeling once you guys [2:24] actually won the state tournament? Once [2:26] that the [music] clock hit zero, what [2:28] was your what was kind of your gut [2:29] reaction once? I just dropped to my [2:32] knees and put my arms in the air. I'm [2:34] like, "Oh my gosh, we did it." [2:36] Back-to-back state [music] champions and [2:38] we just dominated the se state [2:41] tournament in the season. I just like to [2:44] play with other players with my [2:47] teammates [music] and we shake hands at [2:49] the end if we win or lose or or tie and [2:53] yeah, it's [music] just really amazing. [2:56] This is just really amazing. My parents [2:58] just My parents are just really happy [3:00] for me playing all the sports until I [3:02] graduate from high school. I just love [3:04] it. I'm going to keep playing until I'm [3:06] a senior and then until I graduate from [3:08] high school and then I'm going to [3:09] dominate all the sports. [music] [3:11] I'm going to make it to the state [3:12] tournament for all the the sports. [3:19] So, congrats to Nolan and the Dakota [3:21] United Hawks on another state title. [3:24] Coming up next, we interview Khloe Ares [3:26] of the Hastings Swim and Dive Team. [3:28] She'll talk a little bit about her team [3:30] season, but then she dives into her [3:31] journey and path to becoming a Minnesota [3:35] state diving champion. [3:41] Well, the team did really good this [3:43] year. We got second in our conference. [3:45] [music] Lots of great meets. [3:48] I broke a few records this year, some at [3:51] [music] other pools and a few at our [3:53] school and our pool records. So, I have [3:56] the pool record [music] at [3:58] Simley South St. Paul. It was at Simley [4:03] when I broke the their pool record that [4:07] I think [music] it was like hadn't been [4:08] broken in like 25 years and that was [4:10] like the highest I'd ever scored [music] [4:12] on a six dive list. That was pretty fun. [4:15] Me and two other divers have the [4:16] conference record. Me, Kira Fickman, and [4:19] Mari Hall have the conference record. [4:20] [music] [4:21] For our school, I have the six dive pool [4:25] record, the six dive school record, and [4:27] the 11 dive school record. [4:31] Sections was a little bit different this [4:32] year because they weren't making any [4:33] cuts because our section was a lot [4:35] smaller this year than class [music] [4:37] double A. I I went into it kind of [4:40] knowing where I was going to like rank [4:41] and where I was going to place. So, it [4:42] [music] wasn't like something I had to [4:44] be super stressed about, but it was [4:46] really exciting to [music] see um my [4:49] teammates make it in the top eight cuz [4:50] all of the divers from Hastings made it [4:52] in the top eight. And I thought I think [4:54] that was really really cool. [4:57] This was my third year competing at [4:59] [music] state. I I kind of knew I had [5:02] like a good chance of winning state cuz [5:04] we had just moved down to class A from [5:07] class double A. So, I I knew I kind of [5:10] wanted to try and win [music] the state [5:12] meet. I [5:15] I woke up pretty early um cuz [music] [5:18] it's in the morning. We drive to the U [5:20] of M and we start warming up. And on [5:23] Saturday for warm-ups, I wasn't doing [5:27] very good in warm-ups, so I was a little [5:29] bit stressed about that. stressful, I [5:32] would say, just [music] because it's [5:33] like this is like your last chance to [5:35] like do really good and like you only [5:37] really get like one shot at like each [5:39] dive that you're going to perform. There [5:40] was a second warm-ups right before [5:42] diving started um while the swimmers [5:45] were competing and I had a much better [5:48] warm-up that time. for an 11 dive list. [5:52] Um, typically you want to [5:55] try to put like your most like [5:57] consistent [music] five dives first and [5:59] then your next three are just kind of [6:03] whatever because they make cuts at the [6:06] state meet. Um, after five, then after [6:08] three and then if you make the last cut [6:11] then you go to finals. Typically you [6:13] want to put your [music] best three [6:14] dives last I would say or like your [6:17] hardest dives cuz those are going to [6:18] score the most points. So that's kind of [6:20] how I decide which [music] ones I'm [6:22] going to end up doing. [6:25] My mom is my coach and it's just a lot [6:28] more fun to have like someone that like [6:33] a coach that you're very comfortable [6:34] with coaching you. I think it's a lot [6:36] more fun. Sometimes it's a little [6:38] [music] challenging because it's hard to [6:40] it's hard to kind of like keep like your [6:43] home life separate from like your sports [6:46] or like school. [6:49] We started competing. After my second [6:52] dive, I was I did really good on my [6:54] second dive. [music] And then it kind of [6:56] like bumped me up 20 points, which is [6:58] like a super good lead. So then going [7:00] into my 11th dive, I [music] kind of [7:02] knew where I was going to place. [7:06] It was very exciting. I couldn't stop [7:09] smiling. I was super [music] excited [7:11] because I I worked so hard all season. I [7:14] had an undefeated [music] season, so I [7:15] was really hoping to just continue that [7:17] at state. [7:19] I had a bunch of a lot of people coming [7:21] to watch me on Saturday [music] for [7:23] finals. I did get to talk to them after. [7:25] It was both my grandparents, [7:28] uh, my aunts and uncles and then a [7:29] [music] few friends from school. So, it [7:32] was just really fun and it meant a lot [7:33] to me that they came to support me. I [7:35] think about like back to like the state [7:37] meet like a lot like just like what it [7:40] kind of felt [music] like. It's just [7:41] like exciting feeling like it's it's [7:43] it's very hard to like describe but it's [7:46] definitely very exciting. here. What's [7:48] kind of the next steps now that the [7:50] season's done or what are you up to [7:52] after now that fall season's done? [7:54] >> I'm [music] taking a little bit of a [7:56] break um just for December and then [7:59] starting January I'm doing club [music] [8:01] again and then I'll do that until next [8:04] year. [8:13] So, congratulations to Khloe and the [8:15] Hastings Swim and Dive team on all their [8:17] successes this season. To conclude this [8:20] Raider recap, we sat down with coaches [8:22] and players of the 2025 track team. They [8:25] talk about their season all the way from [8:27] Hastings to sections to state and all [8:30] the way to the national stage in Eugene, [8:32] Oregon. [8:40] I mean, the season was great. I mean, I [8:42] feel like it's such a blessing that [8:44] [music] [8:45] like we progressed how we did. I mean, I [8:47] feel like each of us like we started out [8:50] at a point and we all progressed. Yeah. [8:53] [music] I think a lot of like most of [8:55] the season we were kind of just [8:56] thinking, all right, like focus on one [8:58] meet at a time and the next meet will [9:00] come. I don't like to have an [9:02] expectation or like an entitlement that [9:04] I think I'll perform well. Well, I just [9:06] kind of do the best I can and see what [9:08] happens. But if I'm going to be honest, [9:10] optimistically, [music] I thought we had [9:12] a chance to be successful as a team. So, [9:14] we start a little earlier this year. And [9:17] I feel like this year, a lot of the team [9:19] was more like locked in the whole time. [9:21] Like, a lot of us were training in the [9:23] winter, too. Like last [music] year, [9:25] none of us really did that [9:27] >> cuz after last year, we knew that we [9:29] would be pretty good. We or we had [9:31] thought we would at least. And so we [9:33] just like thought about that just and [9:35] kept training hard in practice. [9:37] >> We were just ready to go at the start [9:39] and last year we were kind of just [9:40] slacking at the beginning of practice [9:42] and everything. This year we were just [9:43] ready to go every day. [9:45] >> Like as I was showing up these practices [9:46] [music] [9:47] like people were on time doing the [9:49] entire warm-up which is a lot doing all [9:51] the workouts just as hard as they could. [9:53] Everybody like Sebass I think Sebass was [9:55] the biggest kind of catalyst for that. [9:57] He was [music] just always honest about [9:58] eating healthy, even in our faith, like [10:01] trusting God, and then just working as [10:03] hard as possible. So, from a coach's [10:05] perspective, um you obviously you go [10:08] into a season and you're kind of trying [10:09] to put together the pieces, and you [10:11] think about like what are we going to be [10:13] able to do, who's going to do these [10:14] events, who's going to be able to be [10:16] part of our relays and things like that, [10:18] and you don't know how it's all going to [10:20] kind of fit together in, you know, at [10:22] the end of the season. And there's kids [10:23] who sometimes get injured. Or there's [10:25] kids who you find out are [music] better [10:27] at a different event than you thought [10:28] maybe they were going to be. Last year I [10:30] didn't run at all. I was hurt the whole [10:32] [music] year, pulled my hamstring, I [10:33] think three different times, didn't get [10:35] to run. And coming into this year, I [10:37] honestly just wanted to like finish a [10:38] race. That was honestly my goal. And so [10:41] [music] I came out before the season, [10:43] Cook was talking about how me and Johnny [10:45] would maybe be 400 runners. And I had [10:46] never really done that before, but [10:48] [music] um he told us about it and said [10:50] maybe we could get really far in that. [10:51] So me and Johnny tried it out. First few [10:54] meets we slowly see like started to see [10:56] our times [music] drop like 53 52 1/2 52 [11:00] 51 slowly slowly slowly. And [music] [11:02] then so that really developed me really [11:03] from a 200 100 sprinter to more of a 400 [11:06] runner. I I I remember sitting up um it [11:09] was at Two [music] Rivers. It was like [11:10] right in the middle of the season. It [11:12] was cold and our our 4x2 ran their first [11:15] time and that was when we had Jack on [11:16] the 4x2. Um and we went 1278 and we were [11:20] like that's really fast for this time of [11:22] year. Um like 1278 we set the school [11:25] record and our training program is [11:27] developed to like make our times the [11:28] fastest at the end of the year when it's [11:30] warm out and it's nice. Seeing those [11:32] times at that early in the year we kind [11:34] of had maybe more expectations [music] [11:36] going into other meets like we're we're [11:38] pretty dang good. We had just won our [11:40] conference meet as a team. I think that [11:43] was one of like the things we kind of [11:44] not necessarily expected but [music] [11:46] knew we had a good chance at doing was [11:47] winning the conference meet and that was [11:48] like the main thing that we kind of knew [11:50] we could do. [11:51] >> But then when you talk about like [11:53] accomplishment type things for our team [11:55] and for our [music] individuals um there [11:57] were so many awesome performances this [11:59] year. We are [music] doing our record [12:01] board 15 between the boys and the girls [12:04] 15 new school records this year. We [12:07] ended up winning several events at the [12:09] Hamlin Elite meet. We won our conference [12:12] meet, both boys and girls. [12:17] Uh sections is kind of like a normal [12:19] meet but a lot more competitive and more [12:21] fun cuz you know if you make it fast [12:23] sections, you go to state. [12:26] Well, sections is just it's the it's the [12:29] time where the anxiety really starts [12:31] kicking in because it's if you don't [12:33] perform, you're out for the season and [12:36] in the specific event you don't perform [12:37] in. So, you just know the stakes are [12:40] high every time you step on the track. [12:42] Selection tournament. Uh I mean, there [12:44] was some good competition there. It was [12:46] definitely [music] fun. I feel like [12:47] that's where I personally performed my [12:49] best. And I mean I we did really good on [12:52] the relays too. like our 4x4 we set uh [12:56] our record there [music] running 317. [12:59] Sections we ended up taking second. I [13:02] don't think as a team we tried to win [13:03] that meet. We just tried to send as many [13:05] guys to state as possible. And I think [13:07] that was just the mentality of sections [13:09] is just [music] get guys to state. Just [13:11] that day of the state final, it just [13:13] felt like we were going to war with our [13:14] team cuz like like it was just pouring [13:17] down. We were all in our rain gear. we [13:19] were all like suited up with our hats [13:21] and gloves and uh we just knew it was it [13:24] was time to try to achieve what we'd [13:27] worked for. So, I was at um St. Michael [13:30] Albertville High School. Uh it was a [13:32] pretty far bus ride there. So, like like [13:35] me, I just took a nap on the bus cuz [13:36] that's like what I'd like to do. Stay [13:38] relaxed before our events and stuff. [13:40] Once we got to the meet, it was like [13:42] downpouring and like it was kind of hard [13:45] to like figure out what we were going to [13:47] do. our tent. We set up like next to [13:50] another team and they would like push [13:52] like the water [music] off the top of [13:53] their tent and it would splash into ours [13:55] and I mean it was pretty funny looking [13:58] back at it, but like back then it was [14:00] just like uh yeah, for state I don't [14:02] really get very nervous for other track [14:04] meets, but definitely for state I was [14:06] very nervous before all my races. Yeah, [14:08] everyone is. It's just like it's a whole [14:10] different type [music] of thing. there's [14:11] so many more people uh and then you got [14:13] the big cameras on you so like you know [14:15] you can't mess up otherwise everyone's [14:17] going to see it so you got to be perfect [14:20] >> tensions were a little high within the [14:22] team I think a few of us kind of snapped [14:24] at each other cuz we were all pretty on [14:26] edge because of the weather it for the [14:28] 400 I remember like in my blocks they [14:32] they would fire the gun and you're up [14:34] out of your blocks and it's just like a [14:35] rush of wind and you can't hear anything [14:38] and the rain is just coming into your [14:40] eyes here like blinking and just feels [14:42] like you get hit with the train kind of [14:44] with the wind is is such a big equalizer [14:47] in track that it was it was a hard thing [14:50] to face and especially on like the state [14:53] final it just throwing that extra [14:55] variable in there. the second day of [14:57] state when we watched I think it was the [15:00] 400 that was first. When we watched [15:02] Seabbass cross that line in first and [15:04] Gunnar take sixth, we knew that we had a [15:06] good chance because those two scoring [15:08] points was like a big part of like the [15:10] rest of [music] our meet. Watching them [15:12] score those points were like, "Okay, we [15:13] can do this and we need to come together [15:15] and finish [music] this meet." [15:16] >> We knew where things needed to kind of [15:18] to end up in certain races throughout [15:21] the day. just how track works in terms [15:23] of the points scoring for each of the [15:24] different events and who we had in what [15:26] events and other teams had in their [15:28] events. So when Mountains View [music] [15:30] um had a mileer that was coming into the [15:32] state meet, he was like seventh. Um [15:34] that's three points. He ended up winning [15:37] the mile and getting 12 points. So that [15:39] was like a 9point difference [music] [15:40] from what we had kind of like looked at [15:42] on paper. So we were like, "Ooh, that's [15:44] going to that's going to be tough to [15:46] overcome." Our 4x2 came out. They set a [15:49] great tone to like the meet. or like we [15:50] blew everyone out. [15:51] >> The kids competed like perfectly [15:53] throughout the day. I mean, we won four [15:55] different events um and then ended up [15:57] getting sixth in the 400 as well. So, I [15:59] [music] mean, they did everything that [16:00] they could take care of. So, we got down [16:02] to the 4x4. Um [music] [16:04] we were down um to Mountains View and we [16:08] knew that we needed to win and they [16:10] could get fifth to tie and if they got [16:12] anything lower than fifth, we were going [16:13] to be able to take home the [16:15] championship. It was the last event and [16:17] we didn't really know how if we were [16:19] going to win as a team. We [music] just [16:20] knew that we needed to win if we had a [16:21] chance at winning as a team. And I was [16:23] the first leg, so I don't want a false [16:25] start. I didn't want to do anything [16:26] wrong. So, I was maybe more nervous than [16:28] I've ever been [music] in any sport I've [16:30] ever played. [16:31] >> I saw we got out pretty fast. [16:34] It was still like downpouring though at [16:35] the time, so I was huddled under a [16:37] little umbrella. Every time they handed [16:38] off the baton, I [music] knew each guy [16:40] could do their part. [16:41] >> We were sitting up in the stands. Um, [16:43] I'm usually awesome at taking splits for [16:46] the kids and being able to tell them [16:48] like what they what they ran for a [16:50] specific [music] split in their relay. [16:51] And I miss the exchange because I'm [16:53] looking at like us, but I'm also looking [16:55] like where's Mountains View and where [16:57] are they in the competition and they [16:58] were back a ways and we were like, "Oh [17:00] my gosh, this is like we got a chance [17:02] for this to happen." And when we cross [17:04] the finish line first and we look back [17:06] and Mountains View ends up getting [17:07] eighth, [music] like we knew as uh as [17:10] coaches and the kids sitting in the [17:11] stands with us, like we just won the [17:13] state championship. We looked down on [17:15] the field and the guys that had just run [17:17] [music] the 4x4, they obviously they [17:19] were just there to compete in the 4x4 [17:20] and they knew they had a chance, but [17:22] they didn't even realize that we had won [17:24] the state meet. And then we [music] [17:26] turn, look at the board, and it says us [17:28] at the top. And we just went crazy. And [17:30] we look over and see our team walking [17:32] out and went up, hugged our coaches, [17:34] hugged each other, and it was just the [17:35] surreal [music] moment. [17:37] >> I looked in the stands and I saw Cook [17:39] with tears in his eyes. And that's when [17:40] I knew like there's no we we like we did [17:42] it. That's what it was. And that was [17:44] just like pure [music] bliss. [17:45] >> It it was a time where I just felt so [17:48] blessed to be a part of this team. And [17:50] [music] like with especially to have it [17:52] with my best friends, it it just made it [17:54] more important [music] and more [17:56] meaningful. [17:57] >> The bus ride home was pretty pretty [17:59] nice. It was like it's just relief, man. [18:03] Uh I was really excited. Um and I looked [18:06] up and I saw Cook jump up and down. I've [18:08] never seen him show that much emotion [18:09] before. And he hugged our other coach, [18:11] Elias. And it was just like a really [18:13] special thing to see. Like I knew what [18:14] it meant to him, what it meant to [18:16] everyone else. And I was just really [18:17] proud of everyone. It was just surreal. [18:20] It was like a blur. Like I don't even [18:21] remember like half the things that [18:22] happened. I just remember celebrating [18:23] with all of our families, hoisting that [18:25] trophy on the uh on the podium and just [18:28] taking pictures with everyone and [18:29] everyone that wanted pictures with the [18:30] plaque. [18:44] I've been aware of Nike Outdoor [18:46] Nationals and New Balance Outdoor [18:48] Nationals for a few years, but we just [18:50] hadn't had performances that were going [18:52] to be able to get us there. So, after [18:54] the Hamlin Elite meet, we kind of went [18:57] and looked at the standards that were [18:59] there and realized that we had, you [19:01] know, a good handful of kids and relays [19:04] that had met that standard and we could [19:07] register it. [music] So, I sent an email [19:09] to the parents of the kids that were [19:11] kind of involved and I just said, [19:12] "Here's an opportunity. I am not like [19:15] forcing it. I'm not trying to like press [19:17] it or push it or anything, but the kids [19:19] are have a have the ability and have the [19:21] the chance to go out there. So, why [19:23] don't you guys talk about it amongst [19:24] yourselves and I [music] will take care [19:26] of all of the registering and stuff like [19:28] that. You just got to let me know if [19:29] it's something you guys want to do. So, [19:30] then [music] the parents talked about [19:32] it. They got back to me and said, "Yeah, [19:33] we're all in." Um, so then I just like [19:37] on athletic.net, net. I just reg [music] [19:39] registered us as a team for the Nike [19:42] Outdoor Nationals. End of May, early [19:45] June, they sent an email and [music] [19:48] say, "Here are the different events that [19:49] you've been accepted to." [19:52] No, I did not get to travel to Oregon. I [19:54] uh so [music] my family, my wife had put [19:56] together a family trip to go down to uh [19:59] the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. [20:01] Thankfully, uh Nike Outdoor Nationals on [20:03] athletic.net on their website, they [20:05] [music] had a live stream of the entire [20:07] thing. So I knew when our kids were [20:08] competing, I would send them like [20:10] messages and just like good luck and [20:12] things like that. And then when they're [20:13] competing, I got to watch everything. So [20:15] [music] tell you this right now, if [20:16] we're going next year, I'll be there. So [20:18] I think going from state to nationals, I [20:20] think our thought process um like [20:22] especially in practice was just to keep [20:24] everyone fresh and loose and [music] and [20:26] then as they kind of get going to [20:27] nationals, not being there as a coach is [20:29] kind of hard cuz you don't know kind of [20:31] their mentality of like what they're [20:33] doing. And I know the national meet [20:34] [music] is still like they're focused [20:36] in, but it's also in another state. [20:38] They're staying in hotels. They're [20:40] they're [music] kind of doing their own [20:41] thing. So, we don't know are the [20:42] athletes like are they staying up late? [20:44] Are they you know, what are they eating? [20:46] And um so I think their mindset though [20:48] obviously it was really locked in. [20:50] >> Whenever you're you're flying on a plane [20:53] to get to a a sporting event, it it [20:55] definitely [music] adds to the pressure [20:56] of wanting to perform because you know [20:58] there's resources that go into getting [21:00] you there. It was crazy going [music] [21:03] going into that uh Hayward field. I [21:05] mean, it's where all the best athletes [21:08] compete. Crazy to think about like all [21:11] the like athletes and like people that [21:13] have gone there, [music] [21:14] ran there, and I get the chance to go [21:16] there and run there, too. Surprisingly, [21:19] as intense as you think a national meet [21:21] would be, there's still we're still just [21:22] like kids, [music] just 18-year-olds, [21:24] and just having fun. And we're all just [21:26] super excited to be there. every single [21:27] team, even teams that have been there [21:28] before in [music] the past, um they're [21:30] just like everybody's excited to run at [21:32] Eugene, Oregon. It's just an experience. [21:34] >> So, there was four days of competition, [21:35] but I was only there for the last three. [21:38] I ran in the second day and the third [21:40] day. There was like a bunch of different [21:42] [music] events and pretty much everyone [21:43] had a like an event each day. So, it was [21:46] really cool to like go watch even if we [21:47] weren't running, like go watch our [21:48] teammates and see what they can do. I [21:50] mean, we were we were all apprehensive. [21:52] So, like just keeping keeping our bond [21:55] strong and building each other up was I [21:57] guess something we had to overcome. But [21:59] I would also say that they take you down [22:02] into this room like under the under the [22:04] bleachers and you're just you're just [22:06] sat there for like like an hour, [22:08] especially if the event is delayed. So, [22:11] just that anticipation when you think [22:13] you're running in 10 minutes, but you [22:14] end up running in like 45 minutes, [22:16] [music] it it's it builds mental [22:19] fortitude for sure. Uh going into there, [22:22] like before we got like close to the [22:25] race, we didn't really have any [22:26] expectations. We thought we would get [22:28] like blown out [music] by some crazy [22:29] team at Texas. Yeah. So 4x4, we finished [22:32] eighth. A team in front of us actually [22:34] got DQed and we got bumped up just from [22:36] 9inth to eighth to get on that podium [22:38] and get all American. And all of a [22:40] sudden, we move up and it's like, oh my [22:41] god, like we're all American. Sebass [22:43] being all-American for the fourth time [22:44] in the meet, Gunner being third, and me [22:46] and Jack just our first time. And it was [22:48] insane. And uh we found out that [music] [22:51] our 4x2 was number one there. And it was [22:55] just like now it's even more pressure on [22:57] us like we got to perform and we could [23:00] possibly win [23:01] >> before. Yeah. Before the race we were [23:02] just saying we got [music] to do our [23:04] best and leave it all out in the track. [23:06] >> So I started the race got up pretty [23:08] fast. Um we were in like second the [23:10] whole time pretty [music] much and then [23:12] Cbass and Lane really caught us up. He I [23:14] when I saw him coming around that corner [23:16] um right neck and neck with that guy I [23:18] was like I can't lose this for our team. [23:20] We got to do this. Uh yeah. So I pulled [23:22] away from the guy we won. And then after [23:25] we were just in total shock that we had [23:27] just won nationals. Um cuz we did not we [23:30] just thought Yeah. We just thought we [23:31] were going to go there and just run. We [23:32] didn't think we were going to win. [23:33] >> I think that I think that we knew we had [23:35] a shot but just to see that come to [23:38] fruition just felt so great. I don't [23:40] think I realized the weight of what it [23:42] meant [music] to win a race nationally [23:45] until like after we were getting [23:46] interviewed by like big names and we uh [23:50] we got to give a talk again in front of [23:53] the crowd. [23:53] >> I just got to say all glory to Jesus [23:56] Christ. We prayed before this and we [23:58] asked that he would provide us with what [24:00] we need to do well and and that's what [24:03] he did. It was just a blessing. I think [24:06] it was just so meaningful to see see us [24:09] come from a small town and win on a big [24:11] stage. And again, I just all I can say [24:15] it's it's a blessing. [24:20] Congratulations to the boys track team, [24:22] not only on their state title, but their [24:24] national championship run out in Eugene, [24:28] Oregon. Thank you. Thank you once again [24:30] for supporting HCTV Sports in this [24:33] edition of Raider Recap. We are so [24:35] excited to have been able to tell the [24:36] stories of these individuals and their [24:38] successes and we look forward to 2026 [24:41] and beyond.
