hi I'm Dan wtia Hasting City administrator and I'm here to outline seven things you should know about the city's proposed 2025 budget and property tax levy in September the city council approved a preliminary 2025 budget of $ 42.2 million and set a preliminary property tax levy not to exceed $20.1 million the proposed property tax Levy represents a 7 1 12% increase over 2024 if you own a home with a median value of approximately $313,000 you will see an estimated annual property tax increase of approximately $16 or about $8.83 per month from the city's portion of property taxes where will the additional tax dollars go next year we plan to make greater investments in public safety and in assets like vehicles and buildings the city also plans to begin building three water treatment plants by 2029 to remove pasas contaminants from the city's drinking water this will require significant increases in the city's water billing rates we are working hard to find grants and funding to help reduce the local cost and we recently secured a commitment from the Minnesota Pollution Control agency to use the 3M settlement fund to help build one of the water treatment plants you can learn more about the budget priorities and proposed property tax levy on the city website you can make your voice heard at the TRU and Taxation hearing set for December 2nd at 7 p.m. during the regular city council meeting for more information please visit the city website at www.h hastings. goov budget and w WW Hastings mn.gov pfas
