[0:23] Making the play.
[0:26] They get a pen.
[0:29] Raiders are clawing their way back in
[0:30] this game.
[0:31] >> Just snipes one.
[0:33] >> It's ball game over. Safe. Oh my god.
[0:37] >> Did you see that?
[0:39] >> Great diving play.
[0:41] >> He's a touchdown. Hastings Raiders who
[0:43] win the ball game.
[0:52] Welcome to Todd Field at historic
[0:55] Magnamera Stadium where our girls soccer
[0:57] team is taking the field on the first
[1:00] section game of the threeA
[1:02] quarterfinals. The Twin Cities Academy
[1:04] Tigers are coming to Hastings to take on
[1:06] our Raiders, the seven seed versus the
[1:09] three seed. This is going to be a very
[1:11] intriguing matchup of two programs that
[1:13] have played very different schedules.
[1:15] Records indicate otherwise that Twin
[1:17] Cities Academy comes in with a very
[1:19] successful season, right? Rightfully so.
[1:21] But this is going to be an interesting
[1:22] showdown. I'm Kyle Kryser as always
[1:25] joined by Jeremy Rutder. Jeremy, we
[1:27] don't know a lot about this team that's
[1:28] coming over to Hastings, but what do we
[1:30] know about Twin Cities Academy Great
[1:31] River Tigers? Well, like you said, we
[1:33] know they came off a very successful
[1:34] season with 14-2, 84 goals scored. I
[1:37] mean, that's a that's a fun exciting
[1:38] season right there. That tells you a lot
[1:40] right there. Um 26 goals scored against.
[1:43] They've had a successful season. Again,
[1:45] hard to tell when you don't see a lot of
[1:47] common opponents. So, sometimes you
[1:48] really don't know until the match
[1:49] starts.
[1:50] >> One of their two losses this year did
[1:52] come to Simley. That's the one common
[1:54] opponent that we could find. Um they
[1:56] lost three to one to Simley, whereas the
[1:58] Raiders actually beat them five to
[1:59] nothing. Let's look at the 3A girls
[2:01] soccer bracket. You can see Holy Angels
[2:03] is the number one seed. They're taking
[2:05] on Richfield at the eight. Creton Durham
[2:07] Hall is the four, taking on South St.
[2:08] Paul at the five. That's an interesting
[2:10] bracket right there. Green Durham Hall
[2:12] doesn't have a great record, but boy,
[2:14] they play a gauntlet of a schedule. The
[2:16] Raiders come in as the two seed taking
[2:17] on Twin Cities Academy. And then Simley
[2:19] is the three seed taking on Highland
[2:21] Park. The winner of this game will take
[2:24] on the 36 winner. That'll be on
[2:26] Saturday. The high seed then hosts that
[2:28] game. So, Hastings could potentially
[2:30] host another game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
[2:32] Boy, that would be awesome if we could
[2:34] host another game.
[2:35] >> Always great to get those home matches.
[2:36] Right now, I'm looking down the line. If
[2:38] the Raiders play to their seed and they
[2:40] can find a way to win this one and
[2:42] potentially the next round, they would
[2:43] then potentially be in the section
[2:45] finals for the first time in program
[2:47] history. Exciting times for our Raiders
[2:49] soccer program. This is a program that
[2:51] has always been stuck with the big teams
[2:53] in the state, dropping down a class.
[2:55] This year, they found a lot of success
[2:57] and they feel confident they can make a
[2:58] run. Well, that's what we talked about
[3:00] in the kind of the last couple of
[3:01] matches we've covered is the section's
[3:03] still a tough section, but it gives you
[3:04] some openings where if you really hit it
[3:06] hard and hit it stride at the right
[3:08] time, you can make a good run.
[3:10] >> Yeah. And this is going to be an also
[3:11] intriguing matchup because we talked
[3:12] about records. This Twin Cities Academy
[3:14] program has some very solid players.
[3:17] They may not be as deep as we are, but
[3:19] you look at their roster, they have a
[3:21] couple players that are all conference
[3:22] player, and they're led by their center
[3:24] defender, uh, Oan Chop Zang Czecho.
[3:27] She's a defender, a 12th grader,
[3:28] allconerence player, senior, super tough
[3:31] player. She's going to be a challenge
[3:32] this this this game.
[3:35] >> Another girl that's going to throw a lot
[3:37] of challenges at them is forward 10th
[3:39] grader Parker Gatis. Uh Parker Gatis has
[3:42] had a lot of goals this year. Um she's
[3:44] going to be dangerous up top. Uh she
[3:46] comes from a good bloodline of soccer
[3:47] players. Her dad actually coached at
[3:49] Concordia St. Paul and is also a coach
[3:51] at Minnesota Thunder Academy, one of the
[3:53] top programs in the entire state of
[3:55] Minnesota. So well coached player, young
[3:57] forward for the Raiders, the key to
[3:59] success for them is definitely get the
[4:01] ball to Sienna Sanchez. She is your
[4:03] leading goal scorer, the girl that makes
[4:04] it all happen. As you look at Twin
[4:06] Cities Academy, they were tied for the
[4:08] conference lead with Heritage Christian.
[4:10] Uh you can see that they found a lot of
[4:11] success within their conference. Um
[4:14] although the quality of opponent not
[4:16] nearly as good as what the Raiders
[4:18] faced. Uh the Raiders on the other hand
[4:20] uh definitely a loaded conference with
[4:23] the likes of Mameidi, Hill Murray, the
[4:25] number one and three teams in the state.
[4:28] Um you also got Simley and South St.
[4:30] Paul, Two Rivers. You got some really
[4:32] tough teams in your conference. So
[4:34] they're battle tested.
[4:35] >> And then the the non-conference
[4:37] opponents they played this year are also
[4:39] very tough. You have Shak Peace and
[4:41] Farmington and different schools big
[4:44] schools that way as well.
[4:45] >> Yeah. Minnitanka, right? Rosemont. So,
[4:48] they've played some tough tough tough
[4:50] tough teams in non-conference play. So,
[4:52] you kind of look at two different
[4:53] programs that have gone different
[4:54] directions this year in terms of battle
[4:56] tests.
[5:01] [Music]
[5:03] >> We apologize about the technical
[5:05] difficulties. We're just getting going
[5:06] here. Sun is shining here at Todd Field.
[5:09] We're still working through the glitches
[5:11] as we kind of get ourselves prepared
[5:12] here. You can see that they're doing
[5:14] announcements of the players here.
[5:16] Absolutely gorgeous day at Todd Field.
[5:20] We talked about it beforehand, but the
[5:22] Raiders really looking to uh improve on
[5:25] how they've done in the past in section
[5:26] play. Last year, they notched a victory
[5:28] over Park in the first round and then
[5:30] lost out in the second round. You can
[5:31] see the Metro East Conference one more
[5:33] time. We talked about it just a second
[5:35] ago, but Maveidai the class of the
[5:37] conference. They're 122 and over 122 and
[5:39] two overall. The Raiders lost a two
[5:41] nothing match to Mameidi last week. Hill
[5:43] Murray 6-1. The Raiders did fall to Hill
[5:45] Murray as well. Uh the Raiders did tie
[5:47] to Rivers to Rivers in third. The
[5:50] Raiders in fourth,
[5:52] Simley in fifth just behind South St.
[5:54] Paul. Uh I believe Simley did win that
[5:56] head-to-head matchup which is why they
[5:58] have the higher seed. And then Tartan
[6:00] and North St. Paul to finish up the
[6:01] Metro East Conference. But there is no
[6:03] easy game in that conference. Even the
[6:05] likes of Tartan going to give you fits
[6:07] every single week
[6:08] >> for sure. And the one game they didn't
[6:09] play was the North St. Paul game.
[6:11] >> Yeah. Yeah, that was the one game uh
[6:13] they actually won by forfeit. So, every
[6:15] single game that they did play, boy, it
[6:17] was out of the battle. Absolute battle.
[6:20] >> Um looking at section 3A, look at the
[6:23] comparison here. You can see Holy Angels
[6:25] sits a top section 3A. They are the
[6:27] returning state champs in DA. Um there
[6:30] was some a little bit dispute that if
[6:31] Hastings should have been deserving of
[6:33] the one seed, they did beat South St.
[6:35] Paul, South St. Paul beat Holy Angels.
[6:38] So, there's some conversation there.
[6:39] similly as the three ahead of Cret
[6:41] Durham Hall Durham Hall's overall record
[6:44] can be a little deceiving but as we
[6:45] mentioned a brutal conference schedule
[6:47] that maybe doesn't always show their
[6:49] success uh South St. Paul comes in at
[6:51] the five seed. Highland Park right below
[6:54] them. Twin seeds Academy 0 and one in
[6:56] the section play with 14-2 overall and
[6:58] then Richfield comes in as the eight
[7:00] seed. Let's talk a little bit more about
[7:02] Hastings roster and who they have to
[7:03] look forward to. We highlighted uh
[7:05] Sienna Sanchez, but they have a plethora
[7:07] of just attacking players that are super
[7:09] successful. Uh another player that comes
[7:11] to mind is Jersey Appert up top, very
[7:13] fast uh midfielder/forward.
[7:16] Another player that comes to mind is
[7:18] Olivia Ericson. She is their their
[7:19] center mid. She runs all over the field,
[7:21] brings a lot of pace and energy. On the
[7:24] outsides, they have really successful,
[7:25] speedy players in Ellie Lavine and Ellie
[7:27] Magnus. So, the Ellies will run the
[7:29] flank for them. On defense, they've been
[7:31] rock solid all year, but especially the
[7:34] last month. They're going to start Llaya
[7:36] Mahoney and Kaylee Geon. Two very solid
[7:39] center defenders with the speed on the
[7:40] outside with Caitlyn Wood and Ava Santa
[7:43] Maria. That kind of rounds out their
[7:45] lineup in a nutshell. Um, their goalie
[7:48] is Grace Canol. Overall, they have a
[7:50] very deep, solid lineup
[7:52] >> and we'll see them rotate players
[7:53] through those positions. It's nice, like
[7:55] you said, you have depth. So, if you're
[7:57] wanting to get somebody a break, get
[7:58] somebody some rest, fresh legs. Um, it's
[8:01] nice to not have that drop off from
[8:02] player to player that a lot of teams can
[8:04] see. And then they have two other
[8:06] attacking mids. Bin Kelly's probably
[8:07] going to get the start. She's the young
[8:09] sophomore. Uh, Brin does a really good
[8:11] job in the middle. She's shifty. She's
[8:12] quick. Uh, the other off attacking mid
[8:15] that they'll put in there a lot is
[8:16] Olivia Lavine. So those two will kind of
[8:18] control the middle of the field, do a
[8:20] lot of the dirty work getting the ball
[8:22] up to Sienna uh and up to the wings as
[8:25] well. But the key to success for the
[8:27] Raiders is just stability. They have to
[8:28] be solid in the back line. Uh when they
[8:31] have their chances to score, they got to
[8:32] put it away. When they've been able to
[8:34] do that, they found a lot of success.
[8:36] And we've talked to you about throughout
[8:38] the season that, you know, they used to
[8:39] rely a lot more on strictly speed
[8:41] because they have it. Uh but seeing
[8:43] those last couple games moving the ball
[8:45] well, passing the ball well,
[8:46] controlling, and then use that speed as
[8:48] kind of that that offspe pitch almost,
[8:50] right, to to catch people when they're
[8:51] they're falling asleep a little bit.
[8:53] >> It's a very veteranheavy team as well,
[8:56] the Raiders are. Um as you look at their
[8:58] roster, they have nine seniors on their
[9:00] roster, most of whom play significant
[9:02] minutes. Uh their junior class as well
[9:04] rounds out most of their starting
[9:06] lineup. They have one freshman in Grace
[9:08] Brocks who will kind of get some spot
[9:09] time on defense. And then Bin Bin Kelly,
[9:11] the lone sophomore, who will play in the
[9:12] mid and get a lot of time there as well.
[9:14] But overall, this lineup is topheavy
[9:17] with juniors and seniors. They're battle
[9:19] tested. They're tough, gritty girls, and
[9:21] they have athletes all over the field
[9:23] >> and they've played together for a long
[9:24] time, right? So, they know each other's
[9:26] tendencies. They kind of know what to
[9:27] expect. That can make a huge difference
[9:29] in these big games.
[9:30] >> Yeah. And after talking to uh Ellie
[9:32] Lavine last week, she said they really
[9:34] feel strongly that this is their time to
[9:36] shine, that they can make a run. So, it
[9:38] starts today with Twin Cities Academy
[9:40] coming into town. If they can get up
[9:42] early on this team, I think it's going
[9:44] to be demoralizing from the start.
[9:46] >> I do think so. And that's when we've
[9:47] seen the Raiders have the most success.
[9:48] They get that fast start and just pound
[9:51] on that gas, right? Keep it going.
[9:52] >> Yeah. We saw them against South St. Paul
[9:53] a couple weeks ago. They got three early
[9:55] goals in the first 10, 15 minutes and
[9:58] put that game away early on. If the
[10:00] Raiders can do that from the jump, I
[10:02] feel pretty good about their chances.
[10:03] They should be favored in this one. But
[10:05] again, we talked about it. Twin Cities
[10:06] Academy has some quality quality players
[10:09] in their starting lineup.
[10:10] >> It'll all come down to how we see them
[10:11] play together, right? As we we've always
[10:13] talked about, right? Like it's do they
[10:15] have the right combination, the right
[10:16] spots, the right time, and and how well
[10:18] will they work together? That's yet to
[10:20] be seen for us, right?
[10:21] >> Yeah. We talked to uh the Twin Cities
[10:24] Academy Alex their coach Alexa Weavers
[10:26] and she kind of described this season as
[10:28] the revenge tour. She said that this
[10:30] year they've been able to beat teams
[10:33] that had beaten them previously. Um they
[10:35] have found a lot of success and beaten
[10:37] teams such as Washington Tech and
[10:39] Mountains Park Academy, West Lutheran,
[10:42] St. Agnes Park Center, teams that had
[10:44] beaten them prior. They came back and
[10:45] beat them this this year. And Alexa
[10:47] Weaver's really proud of her team. She
[10:49] said that they're just a really
[10:50] tight-knit group. Um, and unfortunately,
[10:53] they did have some kids transfer into
[10:55] their soccer program this year since
[10:57] they are uh a kind of a combination of
[11:00] multiple schools. Um, they've been able
[11:02] to get kids that came in. Paul
[11:04] Armstrong, I believe this is his third
[11:06] year with the Raiders. He has been
[11:07] building this program for the last
[11:09] couple years.
[11:10] And, uh, Paul's just been getting this
[11:12] this program stronger and stronger each
[11:14] year. And the one thing you're going to
[11:16] hear from Paul, and you'll hear him on
[11:17] the mic, he is one of the most upbeat,
[11:19] positive people you'd ever see and hear.
[11:21] He's constantly bringing positivity on
[11:24] the field, cheering their girls on. Does
[11:26] a wonderful job with this team.
[11:30] Just minutes away from the start of this
[11:31] game
[11:33] on an absolutely perfect day at Todd
[11:36] Field. As predicted, the Raiders going
[11:38] to throw out their their kind of normal
[11:41] starting lineup with Sienna Sanchez up
[11:42] at forward. You're going to see her drop
[11:44] into the midfield. You might even see
[11:46] her drop as a defensive position. Uh
[11:48] Sienna number seven for the Raiders. Uh
[11:51] she's a player that can play all over
[11:52] the place. Jersey Appert drops down at
[11:54] number nine. She's right at center
[11:56] attacking mid. You see Ellie Magnus
[11:58] number 10 on the right side. She's
[11:59] closest to us. Ellie Lavine on the far
[12:02] side. She's got that preferred left
[12:04] foot. You can see Bin Kelly and Olivia
[12:06] Ericson right in the middle right behind
[12:08] Jersey Oper. Ericson's on the left side.
[12:11] Bin Kelly on the right. They're
[12:12] interchangeable. They they'll play all
[12:14] over the field. And then you can see the
[12:16] flatback four of Kaylee Geon, Llaya
[12:19] Mahoney, Ava Santa Maria, and Caitlin
[12:21] Wood. This should be a fun game. Let's
[12:23] see what happens. We're about ready to
[12:24] get started.
[12:28] Reminder for our fans, we mentioned it
[12:29] already one time, but if the Raiders
[12:31] were to pull out a win here, they'd have
[12:33] another home game on Saturday and
[12:35] potentially another home game uh on the
[12:38] 14th, which is next week, Tuesday. So
[12:40] potential for a lot of soccer coming our
[12:42] way.
[12:46] Refs will get the game started. Just
[12:47] counting out the players and we'll get
[12:49] rocking and rolling here in the
[12:51] quarterfinal matchup between Twin Cities
[12:53] Academy and the Hastings Raiders.
[12:56] Raiders in the dark blue and Twin Cities
[12:58] Academy in the lighter away jerseys of
[13:00] the white. And we'll get started.
[13:06] Tigers swing it all all the way over to
[13:08] the left side trying to possess. Loses
[13:10] possession off Ellie Magnus. It'll be a
[13:12] Tigers throw.
[13:17] >> Matty Balk on the throw in
[13:24] >> all the way up to their outside mid.
[13:26] They're trying to possess here. Swings
[13:27] it over.
[13:32] >> Bulk back with the ball again.
[13:34] plays it back, loses her touch, scores
[13:36] goes over to Magnus. Magnus is going to
[13:38] use her wheels. She is a very fast
[13:39] player. Tries to swing it up to Sienna
[13:41] Sanchez. Good look, just a little long
[13:42] with her touch.
[13:45] You're going to hear us yell Ellie
[13:46] Magnus and Ellie Lavine's names a lot.
[13:48] The Ellies on the outside. Both have a
[13:50] lot of speed. Um Ellie Magnus, one of
[13:52] the premier sprinters in the state of
[13:54] Minnesota. Good ball there by number 21.
[13:56] That's Parker Gatis, their leading
[13:58] scorer.
[14:01] Olivia Erikson plays it up to Santa
[14:03] Maria. Santa Maria clears it up to Ellie
[14:05] Lavine. Little long with her touch. Ball
[14:08] still in play though
[14:10] all the way back to their goalie.
[14:13] Clears it all the way up. Able to keep
[14:16] it in
[14:18] as the Raiders on the ball. That's
[14:19] Olivia Ericen possessing.
[14:22] Plays it over to Geon. Gon all the way
[14:24] over to Mahoney.
[14:26] Raiders looking to create space. They
[14:27] play it over to Caitlyn Wood.
[14:30] Wood up to Bren Kelly. Good turn on the
[14:31] ball. She clears it up. Tries to go
[14:33] through ball to Sienna Sanchez. She's
[14:35] got a breakaway. See if she can bury
[14:36] this. They're going to call off sides.
[14:38] Good look by the Raiders early on. Just
[14:40] couldn't link up. Maybe a half step off
[14:42] sides. That was a great ball though by
[14:43] Caitlyn Wood to find Sienna.
[14:48] It'll be a Tigers kick here on the
[14:49] offsides call.
[14:56] >> All the way up to
[14:58] Caitlyn Wood trying to defend here on
[15:00] number 17. Good ball though. Just loses
[15:04] their touch. Olivia Erikson controls a
[15:06] little bit long on her on her touch. Oh,
[15:08] man. She just blew right past her. She's
[15:09] got some options here. Tries to play it
[15:11] to Ellie Lavine. Lavine's got good
[15:12] wheels. Defender chasing. Just can't
[15:14] link up entirely. tries to swing it
[15:16] across to Sanchez. Oh, first touch just
[15:18] a bit off. It'll be a goal kick. Good
[15:20] combination play there by the Raiders.
[15:22] Just couldn't link that last pass in the
[15:24] back of the net.
[15:29] All right, the player on the ball is the
[15:31] one we talked about, uh, Osan Chop, uh,
[15:33] S, excuse me, Chop Zang Czecho, their
[15:36] senior center defender,
[15:39] one of the anchors in their program. I
[15:41] believe she's playing at Biji State next
[15:42] year.
[15:45] She's very skilled on the ball and plays
[15:46] for one of the top club teams in the
[15:48] state of Minnesota.
[15:52] >> Good turn on the ball there by Gatis.
[15:56] Tries to go long with it.
[15:58] [Music]
[16:01] Up to Ava Santa Maria. A little bit long
[16:03] with her pass. Ellie Lavine's got some
[16:04] space. See if she can save this. She
[16:06] does. She's got some options. A little
[16:08] bit long on her tote on her first touch.
[16:14] Good work by Lavine battling for this
[16:15] ball.
[16:20] >> Still in play.
[16:22] Maybe a Raider throw in. Nope. Back to
[16:23] the Tigers.
[16:26] So, people that aren't familiar with the
[16:28] Twin Cities Academy program, they're
[16:30] kind of a combination of multiple
[16:31] schools.
[16:33] Twin Cities Academy, Great River School,
[16:35] the Math and Science Academy, and the
[16:37] St. Paul Center for the for the
[16:38] Performing Arts. Don't try to have me
[16:40] memorize that because that's a lot of
[16:42] schools.
[16:44] Good defending there by the Tigers as
[16:46] Arison gives chase.
[16:50] Tries to play it up, but Magnus chasing
[16:51] well. She's just going to let her run
[16:52] out of bounds and it'll be a Raider
[16:54] throw in. Magnus has a monster throw in.
[16:57] Let's see what she decides to do here.
[16:58] She'll go down line or play it down the
[16:59] middle. Big throw in all the way up to a
[17:01] Jersey Appert. First touch just a little
[17:03] bit long. Goes out of bounds for a Tiger
[17:05] throwin.
[17:08] Matty Balk on the throw in here.
[17:13] Back to her sister, Chops. Sang Zeo.
[17:20] Good chase by Olivia Erikson. Tries to
[17:22] swing it all the way up. She's got
[17:24] wheels with Ellie Magnus. Magnus going
[17:26] to catch up to this ball. Let's see what
[17:27] she decides to do. She's going to swing
[17:29] it in. Just can't link up with Sienna
[17:31] Sanchez. Good look by Ellie Magnus.
[17:35] Looks like they're going to call off
[17:36] sides early on. and they let him play on
[17:38] but it was offsides
[17:42] calling the offsides very tight. This is
[17:44] a section game. We know the importance
[17:46] of it. They're going to pull the ball
[17:47] all the way up to about the 30 yd line
[17:53] and that's where the Tigers Tigers will
[17:54] restart the ball. Can see you can see
[17:57] Sienna Chance Sanchez number seven right
[17:59] in front of the ball as they try to
[18:01] clear it all the way up to Ellie Magnus.
[18:03] She gets a touch on it. Oh, good back
[18:05] heel there by Sienna Sanchez as she
[18:07] plays it up to Magnus. Magnus trying to
[18:08] swing it all the way over to Ellie
[18:10] Lavine. They're going to call her
[18:11] offsides again. So, you can see what uh
[18:14] Twin Cities Academy is doing. They're
[18:15] they're doing a really high line with
[18:17] their defense. They're bringing up super
[18:18] high and just taking a risk, right?
[18:21] You're probably not favored in this
[18:22] game. They're pushing them up almost to
[18:24] the 40 yardd line. They've been able to
[18:25] catch them off sides four times or three
[18:28] times, excuse me, already in this game.
[18:30] Kind of daring the Raiders to go over
[18:32] the top with it. I don't know if that
[18:34] would have been my strategy with the
[18:35] amount of speed that we have.
[18:36] >> It depends how much tape they've seen.
[18:38] Yeah. Right. You know, because you you
[18:39] saw Ellie Lavine take a run there,
[18:41] right? And almost got loose on that
[18:42] corner. Like it's
[18:43] >> it's a risky play, but does give you a
[18:45] little more field to play with.
[18:47] >> Yes. Ball sneaks out to the middle. Good
[18:50] turn on the ball.
[18:54] >> That's
[18:56] Zakin Czecho on the ball. Number seven.
[19:00] >> Number 13 with the ball now.
[19:03] Prica Ruthor
[19:05] tries to link up with Olivia Ericson
[19:07] just a little long in the pass. Tiger's
[19:09] been able to pass the ball pretty well
[19:10] so far early in this game. She's going
[19:12] to kind of go from distance way out long
[19:14] with her left foot. Grace Canol all over
[19:17] this.
[19:17] >> So those are not the kind they're going
[19:18] to sneak past Canola now.
[19:19] >> No.
[19:22] >> Canol clears this all the way up to
[19:23] midfield line. Magnus giving chase.
[19:27] She's got some options if she can link
[19:28] up with her forwards. tries to play it
[19:30] through.
[19:31] >> Cha chain Zeo all over this though.
[19:33] >> Tigers doing a good job collapsing near
[19:35] the ball here, right? And and really
[19:37] settling down in an area.
[19:40] >> Plays it back to their center defender.
[19:43] >> Picks her pocket.
[19:45] >> She on sides. Let's see if they called.
[19:47] She's got some space. Let's see if Ci
[19:48] can get there. A little bit long.
[19:50] >> Flag went up on the side here.
[19:51] >> Yeah, we can't see it from our angle,
[19:53] but I did see a flag kind of come up
[19:55] late. They let him play on.
[19:59] Good touch there by Jersey Aert. Good
[20:02] body control. A little bit long in her
[20:03] pass. See if Ellie can control this.
[20:06] So, you can see what the Tigers are
[20:07] doing. They're making it kind of an ugly
[20:09] game. They're they're jamming the
[20:10] middle, pressing a high line, forcing
[20:13] the Raiders to really be patient. And if
[20:16] they're not patient, that's where so far
[20:18] we've seen them be unsuccessful with the
[20:19] offset skulls. Good throw in to Sienna
[20:21] Sanchez. She's going to give chase here.
[20:23] >> Help here.
[20:24] >> Goalie's coming out.
[20:26] >> Little hesitant there for a second.
[20:27] almost almost became dangerous there for
[20:29] the keeper.
[20:31] >> It's one of those where you have to make
[20:33] your decision early on and stick with
[20:34] it.
[20:36] >> They're going to call it a corner kick
[20:38] though, so it kind of backfired a little
[20:39] bit on this goalie. The Raiders are
[20:41] pretty dangerous here. Let's see what
[20:42] they line up. They're going to put I
[20:44] believe this is Ellie Lavine with her
[20:45] left foot. I can tell because she's got
[20:48] a heavily wrapped left leg. This is
[20:50] Ellie Lavine behind the ball. She's got
[20:52] a very strong left leg.
[20:56] swings it in. Dangerous ball almost in.
[20:59] Oh man, good save there.
[21:01] >> Sienna wants that call. She's got to
[21:02] cross the line.
[21:03] >> Oh, right footed shot off the crossbar.
[21:06] Tries to go left foot to Ellie. See if
[21:08] they can hit one here. Oh, just wide.
[21:10] The Raiders knocking on the door.
[21:12] >> There's that onslaught we talked about,
[21:14] right? That those second efforts and
[21:16] second chances.
[21:18] >> Maybe get another look at this if we
[21:19] can. Sienna had a shot attempt. Maybe
[21:21] crossed the line. She wanted the call
[21:23] and it went flew back to Ellie Levine.
[21:24] Oh, she picked her pocket. Let's see if
[21:25] she's They're going to call a fall in
[21:27] the box. There it is. That's going to be
[21:28] a penalty kick. You can see the call
[21:30] right now. Let's see who they line up
[21:31] behind this ball. Is it going to be
[21:32] Sienna? Is it going to be Jersey? Who
[21:35] are they going to put on this ball?
[21:36] Looks like Sienna's walking up.
[21:38] >> If you're the defender there,
[21:41] yeah, you commit the foul there. You get
[21:42] the PK here, but Si Sanchez loose
[21:44] one-on-one with your keeper is no way to
[21:47] leave your keeper hanging.
[21:48] >> No. So, within the first 10 minutes of
[21:50] this game, Sanchez draws the fall, gets
[21:52] a a penalty kick for her squad here.
[21:55] She's been pretty automatic in the box
[21:57] here.
[21:59] Let's see. We have not seen any PKs for
[22:01] the Raiders in the games that we have
[22:04] televised,
[22:08] but if she could put up put one in the
[22:09] back of the net here, that would really
[22:11] kind of ease the tension of the early
[22:12] section quarterfinal game here.
[22:15] >> It erases those concerns with the early
[22:17] off sides, too.
[22:20] So Sanchez lines up to take it.
[22:24] Burries it in the back of the net and
[22:25] the Raiders take a one- nothing lead
[22:27] after about 9 minutes of this game.
[22:29] Sanchez with yet another goal. And I
[22:32] like that play there by Sanchez. Right.
[22:34] Just and pick a nice spot, smart, fast
[22:37] on the ground. Don't risk the ball
[22:39] sailing wide one way or the other. Just
[22:41] take the the nice easy placement. I say
[22:43] easy cuz she makes it look easy, not cuz
[22:45] it's easy to do. simple pass to the
[22:47] post, right?
[22:51] >> You know, and I'm a firm believer, too,
[22:52] of if you draw that fall, you should
[22:54] typically get the PK. And I like how
[22:56] coach Armstrong just said, this is your
[22:58] chance. You guys decide. You can see
[22:59] Sienna right right away picked up that
[23:01] ball and walk to the center line like, I
[23:02] got this.
[23:04] >> Yeah, at this age especially, right, you
[23:06] know, they kind of a feel for it. You
[23:07] know, sometimes somebody gets dinged up
[23:08] a little bit in that foul, right? Then
[23:10] maybe they'll they'll pass it off to a
[23:12] teammate to to do that while they
[23:14] recover a little bit. But in this case,
[23:16] obviously Sanchez feeling confident and
[23:19] just about a half step offside there
[23:20] again on that one. This they're watching
[23:22] this line tight. The Raiders will have
[23:24] to adjust a little bit.
[23:25] >> Yeah.
[23:26] >> Yeah. To your point, it happened so
[23:28] fast. There was a one time long ball
[23:30] that Sienna tried to run on to and she
[23:32] was just behind the defense.
[23:34] >> They've been consistent with it, which
[23:35] is what you appreciate no matter what
[23:37] side you're on. Jersey Apper on the ball
[23:40] trying to link up with Olivia Erikson.
[23:42] Erikson on it again all the way up to
[23:44] Jersey. See if she can go through ball.
[23:46] Might be off sides here. They're not
[23:47] going to call it. Falls at the feet of
[23:50] Bin Kelly. Shifty little move there.
[23:52] Can't find the opening
[23:57] as they play it up through the midfield.
[23:59] Good turn on the ball again. Man, we've
[24:00] seen her make some nice plays so far.
[24:05] >> I believe that's uh Zeken Czecho.
[24:11] >> She's only a ninth grader.
[24:12] >> Wow. Yeah, that's
[24:14] >> she is she's looked really tough on the
[24:16] ball.
[24:18] >> I believe her sister is the center
[24:19] defender that we had talked about prior.
[24:22] Ellie Lavine loses the ball.
[24:24] >> Number 13 on it again. That's Price
[24:26] Raor.
[24:28] >> We're saying those that kind of that
[24:29] central core there. We're saying those
[24:31] names quite often there. That seems to
[24:32] be the most their play so far for the
[24:34] Tigers is running through those three.
[24:36] >> That's Jenv Low on the ball right there.
[24:40] Number 17.
[24:45] You know, one thing that their coach
[24:46] Alexa Weavers did say too, she said,
[24:49] "One of the biggest challenges for our
[24:50] team is we have a drastic ability gap on
[24:53] their team where they have players that
[24:55] play for super highlevel clubs that play
[24:56] year round and then they have players
[24:58] that are pretty new to soccer. So, they
[25:00] kind of have a weird mix of ability
[25:03] levels all the way up to Jersey Appert
[25:04] as she turns on the ball to Olivia
[25:06] Ericen. Erikson's got some options here.
[25:08] She's going to try to go through. Falls
[25:10] to the feet of Sienna Sanchez. Sanchez
[25:12] plays it back over to Eriken. Erikson
[25:14] over to Kelly.
[25:16] >> We got a lane here.
[25:17] >> She tries to play it through to Ellie
[25:18] Magnus. She's got some good wheels.
[25:19] >> Yep. And they're staying on sides here.
[25:21] I'd agree with but it's always good to
[25:23] see
[25:23] >> Magnus tries to play it in with the
[25:24] right foot. Goes long. Oh, good. Just
[25:26] gets a touch on it back to the box.
[25:29] >> Oh, and Jersey app. Is that in the mix
[25:32] there? Right. As soon as the Keer puts
[25:33] that ball on the ground, she wants it in
[25:35] the net. Right. It's that determination
[25:37] we see from the Raiders, right? We
[25:38] talked about
[25:39] >> Oh, in the back of the net. Beautiful
[25:41] shot by Ellie Lavine as the Raiders take
[25:43] a two to nothing lead. Great ball by Bin
[25:46] Kelly to find her. Not a lot of opening
[25:49] there. She found it. Lavine took it to
[25:51] net. And just like that, it is two
[25:53] nothing Raiders.
[25:55] >> And that's kind right where there's that
[25:57] risk with giving the Raiders a lot of
[26:00] field, right? They are fast. And so if
[26:02] they get that window, they hit the
[26:03] timing right,
[26:05] >> they're not easy to catch from.
[26:07] >> And that was a great pass by Bin Kelly.
[26:09] That may not go on the stat sheet, but
[26:10] boy, they'll be able to find her
[26:11] streaking down. She had just a step. She
[26:13] stayed on side, just took it to net. You
[26:16] could see the speed being a factor so
[26:17] far in the early stages of this game.
[26:23] >> You think the Raiders would be content
[26:24] with two?
[26:24] >> No.
[26:25] >> Nope. I think they want to make a
[26:26] statement pretty early. I think they're
[26:28] a little ticked off if I'm being honest
[26:29] that Holy Angels's got the one seed.
[26:33] >> I think they feel like they deserve
[26:34] that.
[26:35] >> And again, it's always tough because
[26:36] again, you're not playing all the same
[26:38] opponents and all of these things,
[26:39] right? You look at QRF, which is flawed
[26:41] in its own ways. And
[26:43] >> there's a million different factors,
[26:46] >> but it's also also good to have a little
[26:47] chip on your shoulder,
[26:48] >> right? And they have a I mean, they have
[26:50] a case, right? They can they can make
[26:51] that case for sure. Um, and like you
[26:53] said, that chip could help propel them
[26:55] hopefully a couple rounds here.
[26:56] >> Yeah. Brin Kelly on the ball again.
[26:58] Plays it back to Caitlyn Wood. Raiders
[27:00] really have some space here. If they can
[27:02] find, if they can link up, bring Kelly
[27:03] back on the ball. See what she does
[27:05] here.
[27:06] >> She's got Magnus outside.
[27:07] >> She did have Magnus. So, oh, good ball
[27:09] by Jersey Apper. See if she can blow by
[27:11] her defender. She's got a 1 v one and
[27:12] see if she can put this in the back of
[27:13] the net. And she does. Just like that,
[27:16] the Raiders up three nothing.
[27:18] >> Tell you one thing I'm not going to try
[27:19] to do on purpose as a coach is have
[27:21] Olivia Harris go one-on-one speedrun
[27:23] through the middle and I'm playing
[27:24] against them. Um, and again, nice calm
[27:27] touch, beat the defender. Obviously,
[27:29] very good defender that she beat and
[27:31] just makes that little move and then
[27:33] one-on-one is so tough.
[27:34] >> And was that Olivia Ericen or Jersey?
[27:38] I
[27:38] >> think that was Olivia Erikson, but I
[27:40] could be wrong.
[27:40] >> I think so. We'll get a a check here on
[27:43] that.
[27:47] >> It's It's hard for us as f as a as
[27:50] commentators here. The brunettes look
[27:52] very similar in Jersey Appert and Olivia
[27:55] Ericson.
[27:57] >> Oh, good touch there
[28:00] by Olivia Ericson to play it up.
[28:05] Raiders up three nothing in the first 15
[28:07] minutes of play. Well in control. Here's
[28:10] Ellie Lavine on the ball.
[28:11] >> Sam Marie with a good pass there. Well
[28:13] defended a good spot.
[28:17] >> Good foot skills by their center
[28:19] defender. Again, that's Chop Jang Jako.
[28:25] >> Good through ball. That's dangerous.
[28:29] >> It's 21 behind it. That's Parker Gatis,
[28:31] their leading scorer.
[28:36] >> All right, so now you're going to see a
[28:38] couple Raiders subs coming back on. You
[28:39] can see Fiona Myers taking the field
[28:44] and that's Ava or excuse me, Tavia Graph
[28:46] on the left side. So, they're going to
[28:47] give Lavine a little bit of a break.
[28:49] We're going to give Jersey Appert a
[28:50] little bit of a break.
[28:54] >> So, we're still trying to figure out
[28:55] that third goal. Again, we're trying to
[28:57] decide if it's Jersey Appert or Olivia
[28:59] Ericson in the sun.
[29:01] >> Both Jersey and I were uh we're trying
[29:02] to figure this out. I thought it was
[29:04] Jersey. He thought it was Olivia. We
[29:06] can't We can't figure this out here.
[29:08] >> We've talked about how like us mixing
[29:10] these guys these players up as a
[29:12] compliment just to how wellrounded they
[29:14] are. And in the sun here,
[29:16] >> oh, it sneaks through. That's Parker
[29:18] Gatis. Right place, right time. They get
[29:20] a goal.
[29:21] >> Again, it's just smart heads up play
[29:23] there, right? Noticing where the
[29:25] opportunity is.
[29:26] >> That's Parker Gatis on the goal as it
[29:27] sneaks through Grace Canol's arms and
[29:29] it's three to one.
[29:33] >> All right, the Raiders definitely did
[29:34] not want to give up a goal there. They
[29:35] had the momentum, but as it stands,
[29:39] we've had a lot of action in this first
[29:40] 15 minutes.
[29:41] >> Yeah, exciting game for the fans for
[29:42] sure.
[29:44] >> You can see Gat is pretty excited
[29:45] though, right? get them back in the
[29:47] game, build a little confidence. You
[29:48] know, Twin Cities Academy not used to
[29:50] falling down. They've been they've been
[29:52] pretty dominant this year and to be down
[29:54] three nothing just like that. That's
[29:56] that's a difficult task for them. Ellie
[29:57] Magnus on the ball. You can kind of lost
[29:59] her in the corner. She swings it in and
[30:01] I think you see the Tigers maybe lose
[30:02] her a little bit in the corner. I think
[30:04] when they saw that ball get kicked, I
[30:05] think they thought, "Wow, that's out of
[30:06] bounds. That's not going to be that's
[30:07] not going to be played." And they slowed
[30:09] up a bit. Um not really used to the
[30:11] speed from Magnus on the outside yet.
[30:14] >> It's AA Santa Maria that was on the ball
[30:15] there. Oh well, they got some space
[30:16] here. The Tigers have a little option.
[30:20] Well cleared by the Raiders.
[30:24] Here's Tavia Graph. She's got some space
[30:26] to operate. Jerseyy's got to stay inside
[30:28] though. She's a step behind. Graph kind
[30:30] of runs out of space.
[30:32] >> All right, you were right, Jeremy. I was
[30:33] wrong.
[30:35] >> 5050.
[30:35] >> Don't get used to that,
[30:36] >> right? 50/50 for us, right? Like I
[30:38] suppose if we always say just opposite
[30:40] people, then one of us is always right.
[30:42] >> There we go. It was Olivia Ericen on the
[30:44] goal. confirmed by the parents of all
[30:45] people. They know more than us, right?
[30:49] They know their kids. That is very, very
[30:51] true.
[30:52] >> It's probably not good if they're not
[30:53] figuring out who's who, right? So,
[30:54] that's, you know, they should be a step
[30:55] ahead of us on that.
[30:56] >> All right, Raiders with a corner kick
[30:58] here. This is Ellie Magnus who's going
[30:59] to swing it in with that big right foot.
[31:00] She goes to that back post. Oh, just
[31:02] can't link up.
[31:02] >> Myers there with the nice header. Just a
[31:05] little high, right? Just a great spot to
[31:07] be.
[31:08] >> Good ball there by Ellie Magnus, one of
[31:10] her best friends. And Fiona Myers, that
[31:11] would have been sweet if those two could
[31:12] have linked up.
[31:14] as it is. It goes out of bounds for the
[31:15] goal kick.
[31:17] >> Little C's connection there,
[31:18] >> right? Yeah.
[31:19] >> Two C's to my wife's old students there.
[31:21] Two of her two of her favorites. I can
[31:23] say that, you know, like they're all
[31:24] favorites, right? But these are
[31:26] >> two great students here.
[31:29] >> For our fans that are not familiar with
[31:30] Hastings, that is the Catholic school
[31:32] here in town. Oh, good ball. Jersey app
[31:35] giving chase. It goes out of bounds.
[31:36] It'll be another Raider corner kick
[31:38] >> here.
[31:39] >> See if they have Ellie Magnus line up
[31:40] behind this one again. might get another
[31:42] look here at trying that same
[31:44] connection.
[31:46] [Music]
[31:48] >> See who they have behind the ball here.
[31:53] All right, so that's Olivia Lavine
[31:55] that's going to take the corner kick
[31:56] this time. I think Ellie Magnus just
[31:58] came off. So Olivia Lavine going to take
[32:00] the corner. She swings in with that
[32:02] right foot. That's a good ball. Oh, just
[32:04] couldn't link up again.
[32:05] >> So we we talk about interchangeability.
[32:09] That looked like a very similar play.
[32:11] Same placement um with a with a
[32:13] different person taking the kick.
[32:14] >> Let's see this again. Olivia Lavine
[32:15] curls it in with that right foot. Nice
[32:17] and low, driven well. Fiona Myers just
[32:19] can't link up. Man, she's got to be
[32:21] kicking herself. Two chances on corner
[32:22] kicks. Just missed the mark with her
[32:24] head the first time and this time with
[32:26] her foot.
[32:26] >> But what I like is both contacts were
[32:29] immediate and directed towards goal cuz
[32:31] you sit and and mess around with the
[32:32] ball in the box, somebody's going to
[32:33] defend it. So, it's the quick strikes
[32:35] you're looking for.
[32:36] >> So, Magna's still in the game. They just
[32:38] gave a different look with Olivia Lavine
[32:40] taking that corner.
[32:42] >> They got a couple other subs that are on
[32:43] the on play now. Ruby Bower is in at
[32:45] forward.
[32:51] >> Caitlyn Wood uh smothered by offensive
[32:53] players. Somehow finds a gap. Nice turn
[32:55] on the ball by Ellie Magnus. She's going
[32:56] to try to beat her defender.
[32:58] [Music]
[33:00] >> Here's Ruby Bower on the ball. Tries to
[33:03] link up with Ellie Magnus. A little bit
[33:04] long in her pass. Then last possession
[33:06] there by by Wood just really, you know,
[33:07] beating the double team, just being calm
[33:10] and finding a good pass out is a really
[33:12] smart play in that position.
[33:16] >> All right, so with about 22 minutes left
[33:18] in the in the excuse me, about 20
[33:20] minutes left in the first half, Raiders
[33:23] clinging to a 3-1 lead. They've had a
[33:24] lot of scoring chances already. Had one
[33:26] off the crossbar, about four or five
[33:28] corner kicks. You can see the shots on
[33:29] goal heavily in Hastings favor.
[33:39] Raiders all over this as they try to
[33:41] play through the middle. Here's Olivia
[33:43] Lavine is going to play it all the way
[33:44] back to Kaylee Gon.
[33:47] Gon over to Mahoney. Mahon's got to be a
[33:50] little careful here. She clears it all
[33:52] the way up to Ruby Bower. Bower is going
[33:54] to get good chase here. She's got some
[33:55] pretty decent wheels.
[33:57] See if she tries to swing the center car
[33:59] back. She does try to go near post. Side
[34:01] netting. Good ball there by Bower
[34:02] though.
[34:03] >> That's a good spot, right? Test out the
[34:05] corners on these keepers.
[34:07] >> It'll be a goal kick for the Tigers.
[34:13] >> Chop Zang Czecho, their center defender,
[34:15] the allconerence player number 16. She's
[34:17] been busy this game. She's had her hands
[34:19] full with the likes of Sienna Sanchez
[34:21] and Jersey Appert and Olivia Ericson.
[34:26] >> Get Ellie Magnus getting a break right
[34:27] now on that right side. Geon over to
[34:31] Mahoney. Mahoney over to Wood.
[34:34] >> Wood plays it through the middle. Nice
[34:36] touch there by Olivia Lavine.
[34:38] >> Claire Montgomery up on that right side
[34:40] now in for in for Magnus here for a
[34:42] spell.
[34:44] >> Well done by Olivia Lavine. Step into
[34:46] that ball.
[34:47] >> She got to go through ball. They're
[34:48] going to call it off sides.
[34:50] >> Well, again, not by much there, but
[34:52] they're calling that tight line.
[34:54] >> They are.
[34:54] >> Um, but I like the aggressiveness. Um,
[34:57] obviously we've seen it pay off a couple
[34:59] times already.
[35:00] >> Yeah, Jersey apper just a step off
[35:02] sides. You could tell Olivia was like,
[35:03] "Should I pass it? Should I pass it?"
[35:05] Ah, why not? Even though she kind of
[35:07] could see it. You could see the the body
[35:08] language on that.
[35:12] >> Good step to the ball there by Graph.
[35:13] Just misted it. Mistimed it.
[35:17] As a coach, I'm never minding it.
[35:20] >> They get frustrating for the players,
[35:21] but really if you're within that half
[35:23] step and you're just barely off, you're
[35:25] trying to time your runs. That to me is
[35:27] pretty acceptable.
[35:29] All right, it's Grace Brocks that's
[35:30] taking the throw in here, subbing in for
[35:32] Ava Santa Maria.
[35:35] Fiona Myers. Brocks on the ball, going
[35:37] to try to swing it through the middle
[35:40] all the way over to Caitlyn Wood. It's a
[35:42] good look. Wood's going to play it back
[35:44] to her outside. try to swing it to
[35:46] Montgomery.
[35:48] >> Montgomery steps in front there.
[35:49] >> Yeah, that was nicely done. Olivia
[35:51] Lavine on the ball over to Fiona Myers.
[35:53] Myers over to Geon.
[35:55] The seniors connecting up here.
[35:57] >> We're starting to see some of that
[35:58] passing we were hoping to see from the
[35:59] Raiders.
[36:01] >> Good little pass there by the Tigers.
[36:04] Here's Gatis on the ball. That's a good
[36:06] ball.
[36:07] >> Caitlyn Wood very, very speedy.
[36:13] >> Dangerous ball to the back post.
[36:15] Tigers moving the ball well here.
[36:17] >> Yeah, they're they're showing some good
[36:18] bursts of of passing which is opening up
[36:21] some lanes up top.
[36:29] >> So, Raiders heavily favored so far in
[36:32] this matchup. They've been looking the
[36:33] part with three early goals, but this is
[36:36] a time in the game when you can't sleep.
[36:37] You give up another goal, it's a
[36:39] completely different ball game
[36:42] >> for either team.
[36:43] >> Yeah. Right. like it's definitely a
[36:45] momentum shift here for whoever can get
[36:47] this next one in.
[36:49] >> Yeah, a 4-1 game really changes the
[36:51] dynamics of everything.
[36:53] >> Good run by the Tigers here. Uh-oh. And
[36:56] it sneaks through just as we talked
[36:57] about. Yep.
[36:58] >> Can't keep up the goal and it sneaks all
[37:00] the way through for another goal for the
[37:02] Tigers.
[37:04] Let's try to get a look at that number.
[37:06] It's another second effort goal there.
[37:09] >> Yeah, great effort. Gatis has been all
[37:11] over the place. sneaks through. That's
[37:13] number 38. I believe that is Marlene
[37:17] Vasquez Chavez.
[37:20] Number 38 for the Tigers.
[37:25] >> All right. Now, you can see the Raiders
[37:27] are not messing around. They're bringing
[37:28] back a lot of their starters. Coach
[37:29] Armstrong not very happy.
[37:32] You see it sneaks through the defense.
[37:34] Kind of a kind of a half touch on that.
[37:36] Flicked over to the back post and all of
[37:37] a sudden back of the net.
[37:39] So Sanchez comes back in, Magnus comes
[37:42] back in, Lavine comes back in.
[37:46] Not necessarily what they expected at
[37:47] this point in the game.
[37:49] >> Well, and the Tigers, you saw, we talked
[37:51] about their season. They're used to
[37:52] winning. They're used to scoring goals.
[37:53] So, it's no surprise here that we're
[37:55] seeing some of that here early in this
[37:56] game.
[37:57] >> Ball all the way up to Ellie Lavine.
[37:59] Sanchez flicks it over.
[38:01] >> Tries to swing it across. It'll go back
[38:03] to the Tigers as the goalie scoops it
[38:04] up.
[38:13] All the way up to the midfield. That's
[38:14] Bren Kelly chasing over to Ellie Magnus.
[38:18] Magnus up to Wood. Tries to just clear
[38:21] that ball. She's got some space on it.
[38:23] Let's see what she decides to do. She
[38:24] turns. Plays it over to Kelly. Kelly
[38:28] over to Ericson. Ericson tries to swing
[38:30] it through. Lavine's got some space.
[38:33] >> She's got a strong left foot. She's
[38:34] going to swing it in over to Sanchez.
[38:36] That is a great ball over.
[38:38] >> Good ball there by Lavine.
[38:41] I'll
[38:41] >> tell you the difference in that one
[38:42] though is Sienna just got bodied at the
[38:44] end. Just kind of affect her last touch.
[38:46] You can see she had a body come right
[38:48] there right before she got a touch on
[38:49] the ball to just push her forward. Just
[38:51] kind of lost her touch on the ball.
[38:53] That's good movement by the Raiders
[38:54] though.
[39:00] Tigers play it back up.
[39:05] Hey, this is a good time in the game to
[39:07] give a shout out to our first sponsor
[39:09] for HCTV,
[39:11] The Spoolhouse. From prom to weddings,
[39:14] let us suit your formal wear needs. More
[39:16] information is available at the
[39:17] spoolhouse.com/sing.html.
[39:21] The Spoolhouse here in Hastings.
[39:24] All right, so just over 15 minutes left
[39:28] in the first half. Raiders clinging to a
[39:30] one-goal lead. Three early goals, the
[39:33] last two in favor of Twin Cities
[39:34] Academy.
[39:36] >> They're going to call a handball. It'll
[39:37] be the Raiders kick here at about the 31
[39:39] yd line.
[39:41] >> This is that spot where you're seeing
[39:42] kind of a where the Raiders can be
[39:45] dangerous in this range here, right?
[39:48] >> My guess is Mahoney, who's got a pretty
[39:49] big leg, is probably going to swing this
[39:50] in the back post. There's a whole bunch
[39:52] of Raiders lined up.
[39:54] >> Surprisingly, is that Sanchez lined up
[39:56] all alone there? That doesn't seem like
[39:57] a
[39:58] >> Yeah, plan I'd go for.
[40:00] >> Not a wise move there.
[40:04] I doubt Mahoney is going for goal here.
[40:06] She's going to be aiming somewhere
[40:07] between the middle of the box and kind
[40:10] of that back post as she curls this in.
[40:13] Maybe a little bit too near. Can't link
[40:16] up. You can see the idea was there. Just
[40:18] didn't have enough leg behind it.
[40:24] >> Ball back in. Falls right at Sienna
[40:26] Sanchez's thigh.
[40:28] >> Over to Jersey Appert. Bin Kelly giving
[40:30] chase.
[40:33] Mahoney on it now. Here's Geon. Good
[40:35] first touch.
[40:37] >> Nice play up. Also
[40:38] >> good ball there by Olivier.
[40:40] >> Lavine's got some space. Goalie's coming
[40:42] out. Tries to swing it across.
[40:45] >> Oh, wonder if we're
[40:46] >> see if Sanchez can finish this. And she
[40:48] does. So play on. You can see Lavine
[40:50] gets up a little gingerly. Rightly so.
[40:53] She did the dirty work. Sienna put it in
[40:55] the back of the net though. And I'm
[40:56] thinking the the referee kind of
[40:58] allowing play there because it it
[40:59] definitely looked like the contact was
[41:01] late there.
[41:02] >> Yeah. And Olivia Lavine or excuse me,
[41:04] Ellie Lavine has been nursing kind of a
[41:05] left thigh injury that's really been
[41:07] plaguing her a lot. You can see it one
[41:08] more time. She runs onto it, swings a
[41:10] nice ball across the middle. Sanchez
[41:12] takes her time as the slide tackle
[41:13] comes, goes left foot, back of the net.
[41:16] 4-2 Raiders take a two-goal lead.
[41:19] >> We've talked a number of times this year
[41:20] about Lavine just willing to to run kind
[41:23] of through anything at this point here.
[41:25] She makes sure she delivers the pass.
[41:26] Kind of, you know, not avoiding the
[41:30] contact to preserve herself and and
[41:32] obviously it pays off for the Raiders
[41:33] here.
[41:34] >> Good combination play there by the
[41:36] Tigers as they throw in numbers forward.
[41:38] Quick Gatis again involved in it. Here's
[41:41] Ellie Lvina on the ball again. She's
[41:43] going to play it all the way over. Just
[41:44] can't link up with the middle. Oh,
[41:46] here's Ellie Magnus giving chase.
[41:49] >> Probably not going to win a foot race
[41:50] here.
[41:51] >> Not somebody you want a foot race with
[41:52] in the back end. You see just the the
[41:53] defender kind of getting a too much of a
[41:55] touch there.
[41:55] >> Oh, good ball. See if Sienna can bury
[41:57] this.
[41:59] >> There it is. Back of the net. So, it
[42:01] took two tries, but Sienna Sanchez was
[42:03] able to link up with the Ellie Magnus
[42:05] cross and the Raiders take a 5 to2 lead.
[42:08] >> And really, if you give often give
[42:11] Sienna one chance, it's in the net. You
[42:12] give her two.
[42:14] >> Yeah.
[42:14] >> I don't I don't like your odds keeping
[42:15] it out out of the netting there.
[42:16] >> So, that is Sanchez's third goal of the
[42:18] night already. Again, here's Magnus.
[42:21] swings it across. You can see Sienna
[42:23] first touch. Not the greatest shots.
[42:26] Gets it back. Burries back of the net on
[42:27] that right foot. Took her time on that
[42:29] second one. Had a little bit more time
[42:30] to do it. You see one more angle to her
[42:32] chest and down. Back to her chest. Cuts
[42:35] it back. Bam. Back of the net. It's 5-2
[42:37] Raiders.
[42:38] >> Hard for a keeper to stop two close
[42:40] range shots back to back like that.
[42:42] That's a That's a tough ask.
[42:43] >> Yes. Really a lot of that play sets up
[42:46] with really that just that heads up, you
[42:48] know, gutsy run there by Magnus, right?
[42:50] Seeing that the defender played the ball
[42:52] back a little farther and just out
[42:54] running around the ball.
[42:55] >> And that's where she's strong. Ellie
[42:56] Magnus in open space. There's few
[42:58] players in the state that can really
[42:59] keep up with that pace. Oh, good shifty
[43:02] move by the freshman again.
[43:06] >> She's going to be problems for the state
[43:07] of Minnesota for the next couple years.
[43:09] She is fun to watch. And we're seeing
[43:11] here, I mean, the Tigers not afraid here
[43:13] after giving up a couple goals. They're
[43:15] playing their line up at the up at
[43:17] midfield yet.
[43:19] >> Yeah, Zumakin Czecho, uh, the
[43:22] midfielder, ninth grader. We talked
[43:24] about her. She has been so shifty, so
[43:27] dangerous out there.
[43:30] It's going to be a Raider throwing again
[43:31] here.
[43:34] We will not do a goal replay. There's
[43:36] been a lot of goals, as much as you'd
[43:37] like to see them, so we will not do a
[43:39] goal replay at the halftime. So, you'll
[43:41] just have to keep up as we go here for
[43:43] our fans that are tuning in
[43:44] >> or hit the rewind button. That's the the
[43:46] beauty of of modern TV, right?
[43:48] >> Absolutely.
[43:50] >> Uh for our fans that are just tuning in
[43:53] again, the Raiders went up 3 nothing in
[43:55] this game. Tigers clawed back, got two
[43:58] goals. It was a 3-2 game at one point
[44:00] and now it's back to a 5-2 lead.
[44:04] You get Raider throw here on that
[44:06] outside edge. You got Ellie Lavine
[44:07] throwing in finding Ava Santa Maria on
[44:09] that edge
[44:14] all the way back to their goalie.
[44:17] Not that I want to look ahead too early
[44:18] for the next round, but the Raiders
[44:20] feeling pretty comfortable with the
[44:21] three-goal lead. If that was to stand,
[44:24] the most likely outcome would probably
[44:26] be to play Simley again, who they would
[44:29] see in the second round on Saturday. I
[44:31] think the Raiders feel pretty good about
[44:32] that matchup. and they should like the
[44:34] last game went well. Now, the only risk
[44:35] you run into is do you feel too good
[44:37] about it and are you too comfortable? Um
[44:39] I I don't think this Raiders team would
[44:41] would fall into that trap, but it's
[44:43] definitely something you want to keep in
[44:44] the back of your mind. So, you bring
[44:45] that intensity.
[44:46] >> Well, and you know, you watch the score
[44:48] line of that game against Simley. That
[44:50] was a complete dominant effort in that
[44:51] last game. Uh South St. Paul played him
[44:54] probably better than I would say Simley.
[44:57] Uh not only by the score line, but just
[44:59] the the style of play. It just seemed
[45:01] like more of a dangerous game. saw St.
[45:03] Paul give him lots of fits. Um, Simley
[45:05] on the other hand did not seem to match
[45:07] up real well against us.
[45:08] >> And we talk a lot about matchups, right?
[45:10] You know, if you if you don't match up
[45:11] well defensively or offensively, a game
[45:13] can get out of hand pretty quickly. And
[45:14] that's what happened in the Simley game.
[45:17] >> And then again, South St. Paul the only
[45:19] team to beat Holy Angels. They're on
[45:21] their side with Creton Durham Hall. So,
[45:22] I think it's a favorable draw for the
[45:24] Raiders when you look at the bracket. I
[45:26] mean, you got to feel good about where
[45:27] you're at. Personally, I'm hoping that
[45:30] if you're the Raiders, you're looking to
[45:31] see if somebody can maybe eliminate
[45:33] Cretton Dermal from that bracket for
[45:35] you, right? It's it's a tough they're
[45:37] tough out. They've they've are a tough
[45:39] team and have had a lot of good
[45:42] challenging matches this year.
[45:44] >> Yeah. And and the fortunate part for the
[45:46] Raiders this year is that they they did
[45:48] not draw the same section as Madame and
[45:50] Hillary. That section is brutal. Um
[45:53] we've played both opponents, both of
[45:55] them beating us. They're in the same
[45:56] section together. I believe it's section
[45:58] 2A if I remember correctly. Um
[46:02] >> and we called that Mameida game and that
[46:04] was a resting some of their their better
[46:06] players was a strong squad they thought
[46:09] was a rebuilding here.
[46:11] >> Yeah, losing 11 seniors and they're
[46:13] still the number one team in state. It's
[46:15] pretty impressive. Good touch there. Oh
[46:17] man, how's that come through?
[46:19] >> Just floated over. That's a nice little
[46:21] pass there. Stop me if you if you've
[46:23] heard this before, but Parker Gatis yet
[46:25] again involved in the dangerous attack.
[46:28] Gatis has been lethal, just shifty,
[46:31] savvy, does some good things on the
[46:32] ball. She has a goal uh tonight and she
[46:35] also got an assist, I believe, on the
[46:37] second one. So, she's been in the action
[46:39] for the Tigers.
[46:40] >> That's a 10th grader that's going to be
[46:41] somebody they look to to continue to
[46:43] lead that team going forward.
[46:45] >> Yeah. And she's got, like we talked
[46:46] about, good bloodlines, uh with her dad
[46:50] being a coach,
[46:52] calling I think Olivia Erikson there for
[46:54] a little too much contact in their
[46:56] opinion.
[46:57] >> This is a dangerous spot. This is kind
[46:58] of a pseudo corner kick if you if you
[47:00] think about it. A little bit closer.
[47:02] >> A little better angle almost.
[47:04] >> Yep.
[47:05] >> This range you can go directly on net or
[47:08] just short.
[47:10] See what they have lined up here. That's
[47:12] number 19, Santa Maria Perez.
[47:17] It's Ariana Santa Maria Perez that's
[47:19] behind the ball. She's going to swing it
[47:21] in with that right foot. Canol all over
[47:22] it this time. No doubt.
[47:24] >> Canol do a good job directing traffic,
[47:26] setting that wall, getting her best
[47:28] sight lines ready there.
[47:29] >> See it one more time here on that
[47:32] dangerous free kick. Kind of like a
[47:33] corner. She drives it in, but Canol read
[47:35] it from the jump. Magnus giving chase
[47:38] here.
[47:41] Good work by Lavine just can't just
[47:42] can't find the last touch. Good close on
[47:45] the ball though.
[47:47] Raiders giving chase. They got some good
[47:49] wheels back there.
[47:52] Caitlyn Wood doing a nice job.
[47:56] See the goal scorer, the second goal
[47:57] scorer for the Tigers, chasing down
[47:58] Caitlyn Wood.
[48:00] Go back out for a Tigers throwing.
[48:06] Caitlyn Wood on the ball again trying to
[48:08] link up with Ellie Lavine. Lavine tries
[48:10] to play it up to her sister.
[48:14] >> It's Olivia on the ball. plays it up to
[48:17] Sienna. Sienna giving Chase good touch
[48:20] here.
[48:20] >> She's got some space. See what she
[48:22] decides to do. She's going to cut it
[48:23] back or take it to her. Trying to turn
[48:24] the corner. Sanchez has got some room.
[48:27] Plays it over. A little hard on the
[48:29] pass. Over to Olivia Ericson. Ericson
[48:31] over to Ellie Magnus. Magnus to Sanchez.
[48:34] Little give and go.
[48:35] >> Nice little combo pass.
[48:36] >> Nice idea though. I like it.
[48:39] >> Another shot for the Raiders. They're 11
[48:41] shots on goal so far. They've been
[48:43] knocking on the door. That was a great
[48:44] combination play.
[48:47] didn't find the back of the net, but I
[48:48] like that the way they're linking up.
[48:51] >> All right, I believe this is Grace
[48:52] Brocks coming on for the Raiders.
[48:55] >> Give Sanchez a break here.
[49:00] >> That's Jersey Appert coming back on.
[49:04] >> She's taking more of that center forward
[49:05] role.
[49:10] >> See if Erikson can get to it. Lavine
[49:12] swings it all the way across. Good ball
[49:14] by Lavine.
[49:20] Good touch there by the Tigers as they
[49:22] try to possess the ball, play it through
[49:24] their star freshman.
[49:26] >> Oh, nice ball there.
[49:29] >> Kaylee Geon hustling back to hopefully
[49:32] clean this up for the Raiders.
[49:33] >> Well done by Gies though to get to that
[49:35] ball and play that out.
[49:37] >> Usually she plays
[49:39] >> she looks very calm back there. Here we
[49:41] see her making a run, a great run to to
[49:42] clean it up. And you know, they uh
[49:44] testament to the Tigers making a good
[49:46] play cuz we don't often see her have to
[49:47] do that. No.
[49:48] >> Um we know she can when needed, but we
[49:50] don't have we don't see her have to do
[49:52] that very often.
[49:52] >> Yeah. Gson not a burner by any means,
[49:54] but she uses her body well. She's a
[49:56] smart player. Kind of always under
[50:00] control, right?
[50:02] Good flick on. Oh, just wide. Another
[50:04] good combination play. And again, stop
[50:07] me if you've said this if I said this
[50:08] before. Parker Gat is once again
[50:09] involved in the play for the Tigers.
[50:12] >> The Tigers doing a good job setting up
[50:13] some of those, you know, dangerous
[50:14] balls, right? Those little floaters
[50:16] through a quick little roller through um
[50:18] that can be so hard to defend.
[50:20] >> All right, so Fiona Myers coming on for
[50:22] Bren Kelly.
[50:26] Myers a senior
[50:29] kind of one of those glue kids that
[50:30] always just kind of does the right
[50:31] thing.
[50:34] Good ball there by Ellie Lavine
[50:37] as Geon takes control and steps to it.
[50:40] She's going to try to swing it all the
[50:41] way up to Jersey Appert. Appert cuts it
[50:43] back. Trying to link up with Ellie
[50:44] Magnus. See if Magnus can do something
[50:46] with this. She's going to save it. She's
[50:48] got some room.
[50:50] >> Magnus swings in with that right foot
[50:51] back post. Dangerous ball and it finds
[50:53] the back of the net.
[50:54] >> Wow.
[50:55] >> Ellie Lavine with another goal. That was
[50:57] an awesome awesome touch there by
[50:59] Lavine. Swung in by Ellie Magnus. The
[51:01] Ellies connect. That's a powerful play
[51:04] out of both of them there, right? Like
[51:06] that's a
[51:06] >> that's a ball that a lot of times you'll
[51:08] see in a soccer match roll out of
[51:09] bounds.
[51:10] >> Yep. Let's see this again. Ellie Magnus
[51:12] making that run. Swings all the way
[51:14] across. Ellie Magnus all the way over to
[51:17] Ellie Lavine. Ellie's link up for yet
[51:20] another goal as the Raiders take a four
[51:22] gold lead. One more angle. Links up.
[51:24] First touch. Dangerous bouncing ball.
[51:26] Back of the net. Right place. Right
[51:27] time. Made connection with the ball.
[51:29] Hey, this is a good time to give a shout
[51:31] out to our second sponsor, Culver's of
[51:33] Hastings. From savory butter burgers to
[51:36] sweet scoops of frozen custard, we've
[51:37] got something handcrafted for everyone.
[51:40] You can visit us at our location next to
[51:41] Cub Foods in Hastings. That's Culver's
[51:44] of Hastings.
[51:45] All right, so the Raiders take a six-2
[51:47] lead with about 6 minutes left.
[51:52] >> Here's Grace Brocks giving chase. Just
[51:54] clears it out. Gets a fresh start. Gives
[51:56] a chance for her defense to reset, her
[51:58] midfielders to drop. And I like that
[52:00] because we know the Tigers have been
[52:01] dangerous if they get a little bit of a
[52:02] lane back there to kind of float
[52:04] something through.
[52:07] >> All right, so we had a little bit of a
[52:10] laps where the Raiders kind of fell fell
[52:11] asleep here. Other than that, this has
[52:13] been a pretty dominant performance so
[52:14] far.
[52:16] >> Oh, dangerous ball. He's got to get it
[52:18] out of the box. Caitlyn Wood giving
[52:20] chase. Well done by Caitlyn Wood.
[52:26] What a three-year varsity player. Been a
[52:29] stable force for the Raiders. Looking to
[52:31] play at W River Falls next year talking
[52:33] to her mom. She'd like to give it a
[52:34] crack at playing in college.
[52:37] >> We were just out at their stadium last
[52:39] night watching the W River Falls boys. A
[52:41] little chilly last night, but
[52:43] >> yeah, there's a Hastings player that
[52:45] plays there, right?
[52:45] >> Yeah. Uh Ethan Shock is playing for the
[52:48] Falcons this year.
[52:49] >> Very cool. And they're a new boys
[52:52] program, I believe. Yeah, new on the
[52:54] boys side, been existing on the girls
[52:55] side here for for a while.
[52:57] >> Yeah, I believe the River Falls coach
[52:59] just notched his 200th win. So, they're
[53:00] a program that's been around for a while
[53:02] and a a coach that's well established on
[53:04] the girls side.
[53:07] >> Speaking of college players, we did talk
[53:09] about this, I believe last time we were
[53:10] on the broadcast, but uh Sienna Chance
[53:12] Sanchez, who already has three goals on
[53:14] the night, she's a junior. She's going
[53:15] to be playing in college. She's she just
[53:17] signed with the University of Colorado.
[53:19] So, the future Buffalo going to continue
[53:22] her play in college.
[53:24] >> Jersey Appert, another player who's on
[53:26] the ball right now, who's also going to
[53:27] play in college. She's going to play at
[53:29] St. Mary's down in Winona.
[53:35] Jersey giving Chase here,
[53:37] excuse me, that's Olivia Lavine.
[53:41] So, a couple Raider girls going to play
[53:42] in college, looking to uh continue
[53:45] developing as players and
[53:49] >> keep soccer here in Hastings as a uh
[53:52] sport that we found a lot of success in.
[53:55] >> It's nice for younger players to see
[53:57] that too, right? That you continue in
[53:59] even beyond high school, right?
[54:00] Obviously put a lot of time and effort
[54:01] into it. Um so, getting some options
[54:03] there and some opportunities is a great
[54:05] thing.
[54:05] >> And I can tell you with having a seventh
[54:06] grade daughter, oh man, good good run
[54:08] there by Ellie Lavine. She's going to
[54:09] swing it across with her left foot. Just
[54:10] can't link up. Still in play though.
[54:13] Ellie Magnus on it. We kind of lost it
[54:15] in the corner here.
[54:16] >> If you're the Tigers right now.
[54:18] >> Good ball swung in.
[54:20] Oh, see if they can bury it. Oh, back of
[54:23] the net for the Raiders. Ellie Lavine
[54:26] again.
[54:27] >> So, I was just going to say if you're
[54:28] the Tigers here, one of the things you
[54:30] have to do, we know Sannah Sanchez,
[54:32] three goals on the night. Um, but on
[54:34] that outside edge, if you're the Tigers,
[54:36] what do you do about Ellie Lavine? She's
[54:38] been a problem on that left side for
[54:40] sure.
[54:40] >> Fast. She's strong. You saw playing
[54:42] through contact there again to make sure
[54:43] the ball is delivered. That's a That's a
[54:45] hard out on that edge.
[54:46] >> I missed the cross in. Who swung this
[54:49] in?
[54:50] >> It looked like Was that Wood?
[54:53] >> Was that Caitlyn Wood that swung in? I
[54:54] believe it was. Swung it all the way
[54:56] over to Ellie Lavine.
[54:57] >> Yep, that was Caitlyn Wood on the
[54:58] assist.
[54:59] >> Doesn't get a lot of assist.
[55:00] >> Always nice to get those defenders in on
[55:02] the action a little bit.
[55:03] >> Yep.
[55:05] >> Probably a W River Falls coach at the
[55:06] end. Yeah, there we go.
[55:10] >> All right, so with about 3 minutes left,
[55:12] Raiders with their seventh goal of the
[55:14] afternoon.
[55:16] >> Grace Brocks giving chase.
[55:20] >> It's going to be a Raiders kick. I
[55:22] believe they're going to call a foul.
[55:23] It's Grace Brocks giving chase.
[55:25] >> Just a little little tangle back there.
[55:27] >> Yeah, no harm there. Just some physical
[55:30] play.
[55:33] So, you're seeing the uh the
[55:35] wellestablished veteran team and the
[55:37] Raiders kind of flexing their muscles a
[55:39] little bit. This is where, you know, you
[55:41] have a veteran team that, yeah, game
[55:43] gets close, but not so fast. We're going
[55:45] to we're going to change that quick. And
[55:46] boy, they changed the the game pretty
[55:48] quick once they got to 3-2. Kind of
[55:50] opened up, scored some goals, and so far
[55:53] put this game kind of out of harm's way.
[55:56] >> You sometimes you need that wakeup call
[55:57] a little bit, right? This is postseason.
[55:59] Really can't be messed around anymore.
[56:01] Um, so you got to work on minimizing
[56:02] some of those fall asleep moments,
[56:07] >> you know, and the hard part for the
[56:08] Raiders or for, excuse me, any opponent
[56:09] that plays the Raiders is that they just
[56:11] have so much speed all over the field.
[56:12] It's it's okay. You can defend one
[56:14] player, but defending three, four, five
[56:15] players that all have speed,
[56:17] >> it's difficult to defend,
[56:19] >> right? So, you could say, we were just
[56:20] talking about that like, okay, what do
[56:21] you do about what do you do about Ellie
[56:22] Lavine on the other side on the far side
[56:24] from us here? Okay, well, find your
[56:26] fastest defender, put him there. But
[56:28] then you leave Ellie Magnus, one of the
[56:30] fastest track runners in the state, on
[56:33] the opposite side. I as a coach, I don't
[56:36] have a lot of answers for that.
[56:37] >> Yeah, pick your poison, right?
[56:39] >> And then Sienna Sanchez, also very, very
[56:41] fast in her own right. She's also
[56:43] dangerous and a kid that you don't want
[56:44] to leave alone. I mean, oh, good ball,
[56:48] Gatus involved again, but she's off.
[56:49] >> Just a stop.
[56:50] >> Good recovery there by Grace Brox.
[56:54] >> Referee noticed here. The AR's flag is
[56:56] up. But you know what I like though is
[56:57] that you know Grace Brock's young
[56:59] freshman never stopped playing
[57:01] >> well and that's important because you
[57:02] know that that center referee can
[57:04] overrule that AR and all of a sudden now
[57:05] you're just on an island by yourself. So
[57:07] uh or maybe you've abandoned your keeper
[57:08] and now they're facing a one-on-one. So
[57:10] smart play by Brocks just to play
[57:12] through. Wait till the center ref sees
[57:14] that and call and blows that whistle.
[57:16] >> Brock's a track athlete too. She's also
[57:18] very very fast. I mean they got speed
[57:19] all over the field. talk of Olivia
[57:21] Eriken in the middle very and there's
[57:23] it's a fast team in general but you have
[57:25] that top-notch speed look here again
[57:26] just another track meet here for Ellie
[57:28] who's uh off the races here again
[57:31] >> Ders ball almost a jersey appert just
[57:33] couldn't link up
[57:35] Raiders on it again it's going to fall
[57:37] the feet of Jersey appert in the back of
[57:39] the net gets the goal
[57:41] >> keeps on side I was a little worried
[57:42] there cuz a little tight on that line
[57:44] but Jersey looking at that line maybe
[57:46] adjusting to that pressure they felt
[57:47] earlier um well earned there she's been
[57:50] Close on a couple here.
[57:51] >> Raiders all smiles. You can see the
[57:52] deflection falls to Jersey Appert.
[57:54] Appert little tap in back of the net.
[57:56] Eighth goal. You can see the goalie like
[57:58] what just happened. Little unlucky
[58:00] bounce there, but Appert will get the
[58:02] goal. Senior puts it in the back of the
[58:05] net. All smiles for the Raiders with
[58:07] just under a minute left in this first
[58:09] half.
[58:13] So, keeping track with the goals so far,
[58:14] we've had three by Sienna Sanchez. We've
[58:16] had two by Ellie Lavine. We've had
[58:18] Olivia Ericson. We've had Jersey Appert.
[58:22] Been a lot of goals to keep track of
[58:23] here so far.
[58:25] >> And I don't think you're going to see
[58:26] the Tigers stop pushing here. You see
[58:27] them making a good run there. Trying to
[58:28] get that pass out there. We have a quick
[58:30] whistle here.
[58:32] >> Did get the update. It's actually a
[58:33] hat-tick by Ellie Lavine. So, two
[58:34] hatticks so far.
[58:36] >> That's a Yeah, that's uh not surprising
[58:39] with the way she's been running on that
[58:40] outside tonight.
[58:41] >> And she's not a she's not a normal
[58:43] scorer for them. She gets a lot of
[58:44] assists, but not usually a big goal
[58:46] scorer for the Raiders. So, kind of fun
[58:47] for Ellie to to not only find the back
[58:49] on that one time, but multiple times.
[58:51] >> Well, and I think too, just the
[58:54] having her have that vision, right, of
[58:56] knowing when's the right time for for
[58:58] taking the shot and when's the right
[58:59] time for uh for setting up the shot. And
[59:02] tonight, we're seeing her, you know, run
[59:04] that little bit of master class on that
[59:05] outside edge.
[59:06] >> Yes.
[59:07] >> Hopefully some younger players in the
[59:09] audience here watching this and and
[59:10] really taking some good notes.
[59:14] >> Kicks her pocket, but they're going to
[59:15] call it fall. But that'll be the end of
[59:16] the first half as the Raiders almost
[59:18] looks like a football score out here to
[59:20] have an 8-2
[59:22] lead at the halftime. Raiders looking
[59:25] all the part as the number two seed
[59:26] after some early jitters finding the
[59:28] back of the net early and often. We're
[59:31] going to see how the game continues in
[59:32] the second half. Let's see if the
[59:33] Raiders kind of change things up, sit
[59:35] some players, but we'll get back in the
[59:36] action in just a little bit.
[59:53] Push that trash that way, not this way.
[59:55] Come on.
[59:56] >> Oh, hey there. Do you like HCTV?
[60:00] >> That's one small step for Hastings and

[62:07] [Music]
[62:09] >> He gets a pin.
[62:12] What a move. What a goal. Oh, what a
[62:14] shot. Scores the Raiders. Can they get
[62:16] the layup? Yes, they do.
[62:19] Just snipes one.
[62:21] >> Oh my god.
[62:24] And reaching up and making the play.
[62:28] It's over.
[62:30] >> Looking to throw and she's going to get
[62:32] the first down. Gone. Touchdown Raiders.
[62:47] Welcome back to Todd Field at McNamera
[62:49] Stadium where our Hastings girls soccer
[62:51] team has a sizable 8-2 lead over the
[62:55] Twin Cities Academy Tigers. It's been a
[62:58] pretty dominant performance in the first
[62:59] half, Jeremy, what has been a standout
[63:02] for you so far in this game that's been
[63:03] a key to their success?
[63:05] >> Um, well, we're one, you're getting goal
[63:06] production for the Raiders from multiple
[63:08] players, right? and you're seeing that
[63:10] the hustle on the outsides has really
[63:12] set up some some nice plays in the
[63:14] middle of the field.
[63:16] >> Yeah. And I think for me the biggest
[63:17] thing that I've noticed is the speed
[63:19] factor. Um that's where Hastings has
[63:21] been able to take advantage of a lineup
[63:24] that's maybe not as deep as ours. Um and
[63:27] so that has been a place where they've
[63:29] kind of picked them apart a little bit.
[63:30] They've used that speed to their
[63:31] advantage and it's really helped them
[63:33] out. We talked about the uh the next
[63:35] round of play. Not that I want to jump
[63:37] ahead too much about potentially playing
[63:39] Simley again. Simley is actually down at
[63:41] half, one- nothing against Highland
[63:42] Park. So, if that score holds, things
[63:45] could change completely um in terms of
[63:47] plans for the next round for the
[63:49] Raiders.
[63:49] >> And that's might be, you know, again, a
[63:51] little tight matchup over there. We'll
[63:52] see what what Sim does at halftime to to
[63:54] adjust, but um definitely a close
[63:57] matchup there.
[63:58] >> All right, let's see if there's any
[63:59] lineup changes for the Raiders. Looks
[64:01] like they're going to start with the
[64:02] exact same lineup as they started with
[64:04] in the first half.
[64:06] You might see they might play for a
[64:08] limited amount of time and then get a
[64:09] rest saving legs for the home stretch
[64:12] here. The Raiders battle tested as we
[64:14] mentioned before. They've had a lot of
[64:16] games under their belt this year against
[64:17] some of the toughest competition in the
[64:18] state. But you want to save those legs
[64:21] especially if there's injuries on your
[64:23] team and you know you want to make sure
[64:25] you're well set for Saturday's matchup.
[64:26] >> And just the more experience players
[64:28] have like the deeper you can go when you
[64:30] need it.
[64:31] >> All right, so Bin Kelly tries to clear
[64:33] it all the way up to Sienna Sanchez.
[64:34] bouncing ball lays at her feet.
[64:38] >> You see the Tigers wisely just getting
[64:40] getting two people behind Sanchez just
[64:42] to you can kind of let her get the ball
[64:44] just to kind of keep a wall in front of
[64:45] her to to avoid that quick turn.
[64:47] >> Sanchez falls hard there, but luckily
[64:49] she's okay. They swing it all the way
[64:50] over to Jersey Appert. Jerseyy's got
[64:53] some options. She's going to play it
[64:54] through to Ellie Magnus. Magnus has got
[64:56] good wheels.
[64:57] >> She got a couple options in the middle
[64:58] of the field.
[64:59] >> That right foot. One touch by Sienna.
[65:02] Just goes a little bit wide. Good
[65:03] combination play there by the Raiders to
[65:05] start off the second half as we try to
[65:07] fix our clock here.
[65:09] >> And we see them working on some of those
[65:11] quick connections which is going to be
[65:12] good as you get into some of that
[65:13] steeper competition through through the
[65:16] uh playoffs here.
[65:17] >> So there'll be a running clock for the
[65:18] second half here because the Raiders
[65:21] have a sizable lead. So no stoppage even
[65:24] if a goal is scored or an injury
[65:26] happens. Ball goes out of bounds, it'll
[65:28] be a Raider throwin.
[65:31] Let's talk a little bit more about this
[65:32] Twin Cities Academy program. They are a
[65:34] co-op of different charter schools. Twin
[65:36] Cities Academy, Great River School, Math
[65:37] and Science Academy, and St. Paul Center
[65:39] for the Performing Arts. One of the cool
[65:42] things about this program is it is very
[65:43] diverse from kids from all different
[65:45] backgrounds. Um, this is a program that
[65:49] just three years ago only had 15 total
[65:51] players in their program and this year
[65:54] they had 40. That's growth is important
[65:57] and we're seeing obviously that some
[65:58] some very talented players on the team
[66:00] and you just got to keep developing that
[66:02] into a cohesive unit.
[66:03] >> They have a varsity and a JV team which
[66:05] I don't think years ago they would have
[66:06] ever dreamed that.
[66:08] >> Now with 15 players you're lucky to have
[66:10] you your one varsity team at that point.
[66:12] >> It's a little light on the roster just
[66:14] for that.
[66:15] >> Yes. Coach Weavers kind of credits
[66:17] credits their growth due to positive
[66:19] encouraging and uplifting environment.
[66:21] She said that they have great leaders,
[66:23] great captains and they have fun.
[66:25] constantly singing on the bus rides and
[66:27] joking around and they just keep things
[66:29] nice and light and fun and because of
[66:32] that girls are coming back out for the
[66:33] sport and bringing a friend with them.
[66:35] >> Well, and then you saw we talked earlier
[66:37] about their record, right? You built
[66:38] that into winning then at that point,
[66:40] right? And and you're scoring goals,
[66:41] you're not giving up a ton that uh
[66:44] that'll help your environment as well.
[66:46] >> Tigers chasing or excuse me, possessing
[66:48] well as the ball kind of goes out of
[66:49] bounds. It'll be a Raiders goal kick.
[66:53] And one thing that coach Weavers did
[66:55] mention as well is they have very very
[66:57] good coaching and maybe this is one of
[66:59] the big big draws for their program as
[67:00] well. Bob Uselman is Summit Uselman's
[67:03] dad. Summit a player on their team. He
[67:05] actually was a division one goalie coach
[67:08] which is pretty cool that you have that
[67:10] high level of coaching on your program.
[67:14] Well, and and handy for the Tigers is I
[67:16] know they um had a a couple seniors or
[67:19] seniors step into net here that was not
[67:22] really used to playing that position. Um
[67:24] and that's a that's a big deal. Um I
[67:26] know they have JC Ostag injured right
[67:28] now. Um but uh MJ George, I don't know
[67:32] if I'm saying that right. Um stepping in
[67:34] as a senior to to help out in that.
[67:35] That's a big ask. It's a it's a
[67:37] stressful position. Uh it's a difficult
[67:39] position to learn on the fly compared
[67:41] to, you know, maybe some similarities in
[67:43] the field playing positions. Um so
[67:46] always a tough thing to do to step in
[67:47] and do that at a high level. Goes out of
[67:48] bounds for a Tiger corner kick here.
[67:54] >> That's number 21 behind the ball. We've
[67:56] called her number a lot. Parker Gatis,
[67:58] their leading goal scorer. She's going
[68:00] to line up behind this corner kick. Good
[68:02] turnout by the Raiders today in the
[68:03] section quarterfinal game. And why not,
[68:05] right? A beautiful day. Watch some
[68:07] soccer. Watch our girls find success.
[68:09] Good ball. They drive it across.
[68:12] >> Goes back to Gatis. She's going to try
[68:14] to drive it back post, but just mis hits
[68:15] it. It goes out of bounds for a Raider
[68:17] goal kick.
[68:22] >> So they do have a couple allconerence
[68:24] players. Parker Gatis being one of them.
[68:26] Uh Ocean Chops saying check out and Anya
[68:29] Van Darcia. Uh three allconerence
[68:32] players in their lineup.
[68:38] I'm not sure if the allconerence lineup
[68:40] has been all conference announcements
[68:42] have happened yet for the Raiders. If
[68:45] they have, we haven't heard anything
[68:46] yet. We certainly would be announcing
[68:48] that.
[68:50] >> Imagine there'll be a couple.
[68:52] >> Yeah. Yeah. Especially, you know, finish
[68:53] in the top half of your conference.
[68:57] I'm going to guess that Sienna Sanchez
[68:58] is probably going to be in that mix
[68:59] somewhere.
[69:00] >> Um if not, we probably got to rehaul how
[69:02] that system works. Yeah. Right.
[69:05] Ellie Magnus on the ball here. Tries a
[69:07] big throw in
[69:10] >> over Jersey Appert who loses control.
[69:12] Bren Kelly get tries to get a touch on
[69:14] it. Just loses it as well.
[69:18] >> Good defending there by Caitlyn Wood.
[69:20] All over this. Well done by Caitlyn
[69:22] Wood.
[69:22] >> Just let it go out right. Just guide the
[69:24] player out of bounds. Get a Raider throw
[69:26] here.
[69:27] >> Just her body position on that getting
[69:29] low, forcing her to the outside. That's
[69:31] that's a a skill that young players
[69:34] should learn from because that's a
[69:36] difficult task. It seems easy, but
[69:37] watching that, she did a really really
[69:40] good job getting her body low, forcing
[69:41] her to the outside. That's going to be a
[69:43] trip. They're going to call that. Yep.
[69:45] >> Santa Maria looking for the call.
[69:47] >> Total mistake there. Just accidental
[69:49] thing that happened here. We can see it
[69:50] one more time.
[69:51] >> Gatis chasing just kind of gets tangled
[69:52] up with Santa Maria.
[69:54] >> And we haven't had to say Santa Maria's
[69:56] name too much tonight. we had talked
[69:57] about in previous broadcasts, but it
[69:58] seemed like every game we called was
[70:00] kind of like her next best game, right?
[70:02] Like we on a roll. I just don't think
[70:04] the Tigers have pushed down her side as
[70:06] much today.
[70:06] >> No, it's been mainly on Caitlyn Woodside
[70:09] on that on that uh right side, I guess,
[70:11] if we're looking at it.
[70:12] >> So maybe they heard us, you know, on the
[70:14] tape saying stay away.
[70:15] >> We were hyping her up because she played
[70:17] so well in that game.
[70:21] >> They're going to quickly find out though
[70:22] that Caitlyn Wood on the other side is
[70:24] is no easier to beat. So, uh, we talked
[70:26] about earlier with the speed on offense,
[70:28] kind of pick your poison, right? It's
[70:29] similar on defense.
[70:30] >> Well, and I think one of the stabilizing
[70:33] forces for this Raiders has been those
[70:34] outside defenders. They're kind of the
[70:36] unsung heroes. They do a lot of dirty
[70:37] work. They're small, but they are
[70:39] feisty, that's for sure. All the way
[70:41] over to Sienna. They're going to give a
[70:42] shot here. Oh, good rip just wide. That
[70:45] was Bin Kelly on the ball. That was a
[70:46] good rip by the young Raider.
[70:48] >> I like going low near the post there,
[70:50] right? Like that's the a hard hard one
[70:53] to get in front of for the keeper. You
[70:54] can see the replay. Magnus fell to
[70:57] Sienna Sanchez. One touch. Boom. Tries
[70:59] to crack it in. Just goes a little bit
[71:01] wide, but good shot attempt.
[71:05] Another Ellie Magnus throw here. She's
[71:06] got a monster of a throw in.
[71:10] Talking to Ellie Magnus' mom last week.
[71:12] She's actually looking to uh run
[71:14] division one track. She's got a couple
[71:16] good looks by I believe it's some school
[71:19] called NDSU. I've never heard of it
[71:21] before. um quite possibly the greatest
[71:23] university of all time because you
[71:25] should do some research.
[71:26] >> Believe North Dakota, South Dakota, UND
[71:29] or excuse me, NDSU and also I believe
[71:32] St. Thomas is also in the mix as well.
[71:33] So, she's got some chances to to run
[71:36] division one and continue excelling in
[71:38] that that field. Oh, good work by Olivia
[71:42] Ericson. Man, just picked her pocket.
[71:44] Goes left foot, swings it across, trying
[71:46] to link up with Sienna. Sienna's got a
[71:48] look. Left foot. Oh, good goalkeeping.
[71:50] She's right there. Sienna on the ball
[71:52] again. No call.
[71:56] >> Maybe a little bit of acting there by
[71:57] Sienna.
[71:59] They're not going to call it. Kaylee
[72:01] Geese on the ball now. Goes left foot.
[72:02] Just kind of loses touch with it. Lamony
[72:06] steps to the ball.
[72:08] >> Don't know that I want to frustrate
[72:10] Sienna up top either.
[72:12] >> Another offsides call. No, I don't think
[72:13] you want to.
[72:14] >> Nope. I don't.
[72:15] >> You don't need her on a revenge tour.
[72:16] >> No. Nope.
[72:18] >> We've seen that play out. does not end
[72:20] well. So Ellie Lavine a little bit off
[72:22] sides on that play.
[72:26] Good step to the ball by Olivia Erikson.
[72:28] Sanchez wants the ball. They're going to
[72:30] feed her. She's got space and timed up
[72:33] right now. They're going to call. That
[72:34] was a very delayed off.
[72:35] >> She had the initial contact there and
[72:37] the flag didn't go up. I thought we were
[72:38] we were clear sailing there for the
[72:40] Raiders, but um getting that call just a
[72:43] step or two late there.
[72:44] >> Sienna laughing. You can tell like when
[72:46] she made that run, she kind of looked
[72:47] behind her like, I think I'm off sides,
[72:48] but nothing came up.
[72:50] >> But if they're not going to say
[72:51] anything, right again, don't stop till
[72:52] there's a whistle, right?
[72:54] >> Olivia or excuse me, Ellie Leian giving
[72:56] chase here.
[72:58] Good touch. Good combination play there
[73:00] by the Tigers.
[73:02] Santa Marie on the ball, tries to clear
[73:04] it up, but it'll go out of bounds. It'll
[73:05] be a Tiger throwin.
[73:09] That's Gatis on the ball. Good body by
[73:12] Olivia Ericson. Over to Bren Kelly.
[73:14] Kelly all the way up to Appert. Appert
[73:16] trying to swing it back.
[73:19] Just
[73:19] >> a little too tight together there,
[73:21] right? Just a little too short of a
[73:24] distance to be able to make a clean pass
[73:25] there.
[73:25] >> Gatus back on the ball. She's tough with
[73:27] it. Very shifty number 21.
[73:34] Good defending by the Raiders. Swarming
[73:36] them. Uh-oh. Falls in a dangerous spot
[73:38] here. It's number seven. The young
[73:40] freshman tries to go to her left foot.
[73:46] Boy, we've seen number seven a couple
[73:48] times for them. It's a mech and
[73:50] checkout.
[73:51] >> She's really created a lot of things.
[73:53] Here's Gatis behind the ball here on the
[73:55] corner kick.
[73:57] >> Just every time she gets a a look at it
[73:58] here, too.
[73:59] >> 100%. She has a a goal and an assist
[74:02] tonight. Very skilled on the ball. She's
[74:04] got a strong right foot. She swings it
[74:06] in. Cleared out by Sienna Sanchez.
[74:09] [Music]
[74:10] >> Falls to Ellie Lavine's feet. She's
[74:12] going to play it up to Ellie Magnus.
[74:14] This might become a track race in a
[74:16] second as Caitlyn Wood slides up.
[74:20] Saves it. Loses touch.
[74:28] See is still in bounds. They're going to
[74:31] say it is. Oh, now we're
[74:34] >> now they're going to call a goal kick.
[74:35] So, there it is. Little delayed call
[74:37] again.
[74:38] >> Hey, so we're 10 minutes in. So far, the
[74:40] action has been fast and furious, but no
[74:43] goals find in the back of the net. This
[74:44] is a good time to give a little shout
[74:46] out for our sponsors,
[74:49] Culvers of Hastings. From savory butter
[74:52] burgers to sweet scoops of frozen
[74:53] custard, we've got something handcrafted
[74:55] for everyone. You can visit us at our
[74:57] location next to Cub Foods at In
[75:00] Hastings, Culver's of Hastings.
[75:02] >> That's another, you know, another crew
[75:04] and staff there that does ton for the
[75:05] community. Uh my wife's school just
[75:07] there the other night. They did a
[75:08] fundraiser night for um their Eagle Buff
[75:10] field trip they have coming up and just
[75:12] uh the managers and staff there just
[75:14] being you know great helping out the
[75:16] kids earn some money for their trip. So
[75:18] um Cers definitely helping out the
[75:20] community in a lot of ways in addition
[75:22] to sponsoring us.
[75:22] >> Here's Ellie Lavine again on the ball.
[75:25] She swings it across. Oh, she just can't
[75:27] link up. They're going to call the laid
[75:29] off sides on this again. It looks like
[75:31] they're going to Let's see it one more
[75:33] time.
[75:35] Ellie Lavine well on this ball. Had her
[75:37] time tried to pick it apart.
[75:39] >> I don't know if the offides was there
[75:40] before.
[75:41] >> I don't think so. I think
[75:43] >> flag was up
[75:44] >> that one there Ellie had a head of steam
[75:46] going but she started a ways behind the
[75:48] defender there. I thought
[75:49] >> unless she came back to the ball maybe.
[75:51] >> Maybe. But
[75:53] I don't know. Sometimes I think she can
[75:55] get so far ahead that you're maybe
[75:57] assuming she was off size if you didn't
[75:58] have a clean look at it. Um just for how
[76:00] quickly she beat the defender there.
[76:02] graduation.
[76:03] >> Yeah, Lavine has had a heck of a night.
[76:05] I mean, three goals played. Nice move by
[76:07] Santa Maria. She's got some options
[76:08] here. Sienna's on the ball now. Tries to
[76:10] swing it through.
[76:12] >> It's Olivia Lavine trying to chase.
[76:15] >> Raiders just continuing to throw numbers
[76:17] forward. They don't have to, but they
[76:19] are. Good touch.
[76:21] >> Well, sometimes you just you don't want
[76:22] to get out of rhythm for what you're
[76:23] used to doing, right?
[76:25] >> Oh, mis touch there by Olivia Eriken. I
[76:27] know she wants someone back. Oh, side
[76:29] netting shot there by Sienna Sanchez.
[76:34] >> You know, at a certain point, too, you
[76:35] want to We're in the postseason now,
[76:36] right? Like you're you're maybe done
[76:38] trying to figure things out and really
[76:40] wanting to to hone in on what you're
[76:42] good at. Um and you don't get that many
[76:44] chance at live action anymore, right?
[76:45] Every game really counts now. So, it's
[76:48] not necessarily the time to to hold off.
[76:50] You know, coach might hear near the end
[76:52] of the game, but right now, these are
[76:53] valuable minutes to get against a live
[76:54] opponent.
[76:55] >> 100%.
[76:58] You can see uh Claire Montgomery and
[77:00] Tavia Graph coming on to the game again
[77:02] for the Raiders.
[77:04] >> Hey, just a heads up for our fans. The
[77:07] Saturday semifinal match will be
[77:09] broadcasted on NPN.
[77:13] >> So, if you're wanting to tune in,
[77:14] unfortunately, Jeremy and I will not be
[77:16] able to call the game.
[77:20] >> Should be a great one, though. Stop on
[77:21] down Todd Field and and check it out.
[77:23] You know, supposed to be good weather
[77:25] last I checked here and Uh, it's a great
[77:27] place to watch a game.
[77:29] >> Yep. And assuming again the score line
[77:31] stays, which again with a six-goal lead,
[77:33] you feel pretty confident about that.
[77:35] >> Oh, another fall. Are they going to call
[77:36] in the box? They are. Let's see if they
[77:37] give a chance here. Are they going to
[77:38] give it back to Sienna? Are they going
[77:39] to give someone else a look? They're
[77:41] going to call PK. I believe
[77:43] >> should be here. I was wondering maybe if
[77:45] we might get a card here just with the
[77:49] >> They're going to call trip. Yeah, there
[77:51] it is.
[77:51] >> Yeah, just with the
[77:52] >> So, Livia Lavine lining up behind the
[77:54] ball here. Here's Olivia Lavine. Let's
[77:57] see if she can get on the board here.
[78:01] Her sister Elliot scored three times
[78:02] tonight. See if Olivia can get on the
[78:04] board
[78:09] right at the goal, but goes top
[78:10] >> just under the bar. Like that's a that's
[78:13] a great spot. Just enough on it to clear
[78:15] the keeper's hands.
[78:16] >> Yeah. I mean, I don't know if that's
[78:18] where she was trying to place it. I
[78:19] definitely know she wanted to go high
[78:20] with it, but either way,
[78:21] >> on frame is what you're looking for,
[78:23] right? like there if you put it on frame
[78:24] there's a chance.
[78:25] >> See it one more time. Lines up goes top
[78:27] net.
[78:29] Hit it with such pace too that it was
[78:31] pretty hard to stop regardless. Goalie
[78:33] didn't even really move top net through
[78:34] the hands. Back of the net. 92 Raiders.
[78:37] >> And sometimes you go right down the
[78:38] middle like keepers are often trying to
[78:40] decide which way they're going to go. Um
[78:42] sometimes you can catch somebody frozen
[78:43] a little bit in that that which way am I
[78:45] wanting to go and then it comes down the
[78:46] middle and you're not you weren't
[78:48] thinking that necessarily.
[78:49] >> Yep.
[78:52] So, as it is, Raiders with another goal.
[78:57] 9-2 well in control. You can see the
[78:59] shots on goal heavily in favor of the
[79:01] Raiders. Twin Cities Academy not backing
[79:04] down though. They've they've kept the
[79:05] pressure on.
[79:06] >> Good little flick over the head there by
[79:08] Gatus again trying to set up a play
[79:09] there for the Tigers.
[79:15] One little note that I did want to throw
[79:17] in about this Twin Cities Academy team
[79:18] as they line up for another corner kick.
[79:20] Oshan Chops saying Czechow is also
[79:22] nominated as an all-state player too. So
[79:24] their center defender has been very busy
[79:26] tonight testing her skills against the
[79:29] Raiders.
[79:30] >> This going to be a good time to a good
[79:32] place and time to to learn how to to
[79:34] play against a fast offense.
[79:36] >> Yeah,
[79:38] >> driven in there by Gatis for that corner
[79:40] kick.
[79:41] Good move.
[79:45] >> Olivia Erikson stepping in there just to
[79:47] again we talked about some of the unsung
[79:49] moves there. Just step in, stop the
[79:52] progression of that play.
[79:54] >> Yeah, Olivia Ericen. We we've said this
[79:56] on numerous broadcasts, but just those
[79:58] all the little things, the dirty work,
[80:00] stepping to the ball, those things that
[80:02] don't go on the stat sheet, but you need
[80:04] as a coach. You need those players that
[80:06] you can rely on to do the right things.
[80:08] >> And she gets there quickly. So, I think
[80:09] a lot of times, uh, you know, an
[80:11] offensive player, a midfielder might
[80:12] feel like they have time to to take
[80:14] another touch, get another step. Um,
[80:16] instead, what they find is she closes
[80:18] quickly and seals off whatever option
[80:20] they had. Ball falls to Ruby Bower as
[80:22] she turns the corner just out of bounds.
[80:24] You can see a plethora of Raiders taking
[80:26] the field as substitutes. Fiona Myers
[80:29] back on the field along with Grace
[80:31] Brocks on the far right side
[80:33] >> giving Caitlyn Wood a little bit of a
[80:34] breather. Tavia Graph getting
[80:36] significant minutes here on the left
[80:37] side mid giving Ellie Lavine the
[80:40] hat-tick hero here tonight
[80:43] a break
[80:45] that's we talked about you know a couple
[80:47] dinged up here maybe a little bit right
[80:48] it's the end of the season it's a long
[80:49] season a lot of games um so nice to be
[80:52] able to to have that option here um to
[80:55] get a little rest
[80:56] >> clear Montgomery with a good ball just
[80:58] trying to link up with graph
[81:02] >> yeah to your point it it may be more
[81:03] about rest, recover, get ready for
[81:06] Saturday. Good step to the ball there by
[81:07] Claire Montgomery. Montgomery, a junior,
[81:12] very smart player, not the burner that
[81:15] Ellie Magnuson, but she brings a little
[81:16] different dynamic out there. She's more
[81:18] of a possession smart player who does
[81:22] all the kind of smart things on the side
[81:23] of the field. Grace Brocks defending the
[81:25] young freshman.
[81:27] >> Lunges in, kind of gets beat here.
[81:29] >> Bro nicely there.
[81:31] >> Yeah, she's an athlete. There's no doubt
[81:33] about it.
[81:36] That ball did slip out of her hand, but
[81:37] they're not going to call a handball. Be
[81:39] >> incidental.
[81:41] >> Referee could have been behind it there,
[81:42] too. The angle he had, maybe doesn't
[81:45] give him quite as good of a view on that
[81:47] side, kind of facing away from him.
[81:51] >> Now, you hope at this stage of the game,
[81:52] right, game's kind of out of the hand,
[81:54] out of hand. Uh, you hope that the
[81:56] Raiders can just finish out well and
[81:58] play good soccer, but most importantly,
[82:00] no injuries at this point, right?
[82:01] There's no really need to play any
[82:04] significance or any starter significant
[82:05] minutes at this point. You finish up the
[82:07] game regardless of the score line. You
[82:09] just got to finish up injury-free, move
[82:11] forward, get into the next next round.
[82:13] >> Well, like we talked about earlier too,
[82:14] get some experience for for younger
[82:16] players um and some of your other role
[82:18] players in there just to get more
[82:19] minutes. So again, you're going to face
[82:21] some tough competition moving forward
[82:22] here. You're going to want to remain
[82:24] deep and and keep yourself in good
[82:26] shape. Well, and I and I think back to
[82:27] last year with Jersey Appert. Jersey uh
[82:31] got two goals in that section game
[82:33] against Park and look how that
[82:34] catapulted her this year into being more
[82:37] of that center mid lead role this year.
[82:39] I wouldn't say that that was her role
[82:41] last year. She was more of a a fringe
[82:43] starter, spot starter, and this year
[82:45] she's played significant time.
[82:48] >> And so sometimes you can kind of leaprog
[82:49] off that experience here in these couple
[82:51] games going into that next season.
[82:54] >> Yeah. and and who's going to be the next
[82:56] player up, right? They do lose a lot of
[82:57] seniors. You're going to see Olivia
[82:59] Lavine and Bin Kelly get a lot of time
[83:01] next year in the midfield. You're still
[83:03] going to have Sienna Sanchez. Um, so
[83:05] they'll have those three core players in
[83:07] the midfield, but they're going to lose
[83:08] a lot of players on the outside. Claire
[83:10] Montgomery is going to get a lot more
[83:11] playing time. Ruby Bower is going to get
[83:13] a lot more playing time. You're going to
[83:14] hear those names pop up more and more
[83:16] next year.
[83:20] >> I know the Raiders feel like this is
[83:21] this is their year where they have all
[83:23] the pieces in place. if they're going to
[83:24] do it, it's going to be this year
[83:26] because there's so many athletes that
[83:28] they have right now. Um kind of an
[83:30] embarrassment of riches that I would say
[83:31] that they haven't had years before
[83:34] >> and it's hard to replace that many
[83:35] seniors.
[83:36] >> Great ball there by Ruby Bower as she
[83:37] plays it up to Clare Montgomery. These
[83:39] two have played together for a long time
[83:40] at the club level. Cool to see them on
[83:42] the varsity field together.
[83:44] >> Yeah, you try to replace that many
[83:45] seniors. Um you know, it takes a little
[83:48] bit of you often take a little bit of a
[83:49] step back, right? Because you've had
[83:51] that group kind of working together. Now
[83:52] you got to kind of figure out where
[83:54] people lie, shift some people around,
[83:56] bring new people in. It often takes a
[83:58] little bit of time just to get that
[83:59] feeling right.
[84:00] >> Yeah. And you get players like Olivia
[84:01] Erikson, senior. She's been a four-year
[84:03] varsity uh soccer player for him. Ellie
[84:05] Magnus, she's been up here since she's
[84:06] been a freshman. Ellie Lavine's been up
[84:08] here since she's been a sophomore. So,
[84:09] you got some big holes to fill in the
[84:11] midst
[84:12] >> you haven't had to worry about for a
[84:13] long time. No,
[84:15] >> I mean the the areas that they've had to
[84:17] rebuild have been on defense and they've
[84:19] answered the call with starting Laya
[84:21] Mahoney and and Kaylee Geon back there.
[84:23] Those two have, you know, taken a little
[84:25] while to link in together,
[84:27] >> but since Llaya has kind of, you know,
[84:29] felt more comfortable in that center
[84:31] defensive position, they've been rock
[84:32] solid.
[84:33] >> But you lose both them next year as
[84:35] well.
[84:36] >> Yeah.
[84:36] >> Right. So, um definitely going to be
[84:38] looking at a little different look here
[84:41] um next fall.
[84:42] >> Yeah. in the Oh, good ball, Grace Brock.
[84:45] Good ball to Claire Montgomery. She's
[84:46] got some room. Oh, they're going to call
[84:47] it late. We've seen that a few times.
[84:50] >> Just waiting to get to that specific
[84:51] spot and then they'll hold up that flag.
[84:53] I think Clare got pretty excited there
[84:54] for a split second.
[84:56] >> Yeah, I think you look back, you don't
[84:57] see a flag right away and you're like,
[84:58] "Oh, here we go." Right.
[85:00] >> Yeah. Off to the runs. Uh, so it will be
[85:04] interesting. Not that I want to look
[85:05] forward to next year. Exactly. But what
[85:07] are they going to do next year? They
[85:08] lose so many defenders next year. Do
[85:10] they slide Brocks and Santa Maria in the
[85:12] middle? Um
[85:13] >> yeah, so the experience there. Um
[85:16] >> do they try someone different? I mean,
[85:18] this year I wouldn't have expected
[85:19] Mahoney to be in that position, but she
[85:20] is and she's played exceptionally well.
[85:23] So the Raiders got some decisions to
[85:24] make.
[85:25] >> Um
[85:25] >> depending what you do on offense.
[85:27] Obviously, we've talked about the past
[85:28] like Sienna Sanchez plays um on that
[85:31] defensive end for her club team and is
[85:33] and plan to do that in the future. So
[85:35] true. um obviously a role she's very
[85:38] familiar with and very competent at. So
[85:40] the the makeup of your team could force
[85:43] your hand that way a little bit too.
[85:44] >> Yep. See another offsides call as Ruby
[85:46] Bower was just a half step behind.
[85:48] They've called it tight all game. Mainly
[85:51] benefiting the Tigers, not so much the
[85:53] Raiders.
[85:55] >> Hasn't made a huge difference in the
[85:56] score line. We've seen oneoff sides call
[85:58] for the Raiders that has helped them.
[86:01] But yeah, the Raiders Raiders going to
[86:03] be in a little bit of a rebuild mode
[86:04] next year. They still have some core
[86:06] pieces together.
[86:10] Definitely this is the year that they
[86:11] circled. Oh, Ruby Bar's got some space.
[86:12] See if she takes this to net.
[86:15] >> First touch is a good one. Let's see if
[86:17] she can bury this. Oh, good slide
[86:19] tackle. She got all ball on that. That
[86:22] was a well played
[86:23] >> from that angle
[86:25] >> by Sjang Czecho. See it one more time.
[86:28] She has to time this perfectly. She
[86:29] steps in front, gets all ball.
[86:31] >> Yeah, that's very well done. That's a
[86:33] savvy play by the senior. There's a
[86:36] reason why she's an all-conference
[86:37] player. That's for sure.
[86:41] >> Some she's a big big part of the reason
[86:43] why they've kept their goals against
[86:45] number pretty low here for the year.
[86:47] >> Yeah, Gatis on the ball there
[86:50] doing well to kind of be shifty and make
[86:52] things happen. Gatis again trying to
[86:54] link up with number four.
[86:58] Number four is Yil Castro Duran.
[87:02] very thought of the day for you all.
[87:05] >> Santa Maria going to take the time here.
[87:08] >> Little substitution on that end. Caitlyn
[87:10] Wood coming back in.
[87:13] >> Looks like they're going to put Caitlyn
[87:14] Wood in more of a midfield role here.
[87:16] Something she doesn't do often. She's
[87:18] certainly capable of. She definitely
[87:19] brings the energy and the pace.
[87:22] >> So, they're going to slide her more in
[87:23] the middle. Normally, she plays on the
[87:24] outside.
[87:26] >> Good step to the ball by Olivia Lavine.
[87:29] >> Fiona Myers giving chase.
[87:32] plays it up to Brocks. Goes out of
[87:35] bounds. See if it's a Raider throwing.
[87:36] It is.
[87:41] >> Hey, this is a good time to shout out
[87:42] our second sponsor. Our second sponsor
[87:45] is the Spoolhouse of Hastings.
[87:48] From prom to weddings, let us suit your
[87:50] formal wear needs. More information is
[87:53] available at the
[87:54] spoolhouse.com/sing.html.
[87:57] the Spool House off of Highway 61 here
[88:00] and do a lot for our community just like
[88:01] Culver's does.
[88:03] >> Prom season, you know, comes up fast,
[88:04] right? It's a ways that's a ways out.
[88:06] That's a little aggressive there, but uh
[88:08] definitely something to keep in mind as
[88:10] spring approaches. Maybe I'm just
[88:12] looking forward to skip winter.
[88:13] >> Yeah, there you go. How many prom
[88:15] outfits did you have to buy for your
[88:17] kids?
[88:18] >> God, it all runs together at this point.
[88:21] Proms and homecomings and
[88:23] >> Are you telling me I need to start
[88:24] saving some money for my own kids?
[88:25] >> You should. Yep. That's a whole separate
[88:27] account there. I always lucked out like
[88:29] you know my daughter Lauren is always
[88:30] very thrifty like so that I I hear some
[88:33] some stories from some other parents.
[88:34] I'm like woo. Um
[88:36] >> unfortunately I don't think my daughter
[88:37] is going to be very thrifty. If I tried
[88:39] to be thrifty I probably would get
[88:41] yelled at. So
[88:43] my son on the other hand probably
[88:44] wouldn't care.
[88:46] >> Yeah. Um
[88:46] >> maybe that's just boys in general.
[88:48] >> Well and if you know my son Jacob right
[88:49] not the easiest dude in the world to
[88:50] shop for based on his his his like size.
[88:54] Uh, we literally got Oh, Caitlyn Wood on
[88:57] a breakaway. Sorry to interrupt you,
[88:58] Jeremy. I know this is I want catch wood
[88:59] can break this back of the net. Oh,
[89:01] Kaitlin Wood. I saw it coming off the
[89:03] foot. It looked like it was going back
[89:04] in. Caitlyn Wood with a great run, man.
[89:07] She showed some speed
[89:08] >> again. We talked about Yeah, that we're
[89:10] going to see intensity no matter where
[89:11] she is on the field.
[89:14] >> All right, great closing there by Shop
[89:16] Jen. Check out, man, she's been all over
[89:18] the field tonight. Wood wants that one
[89:20] back. You can see she had that first
[89:21] touch. She just needed to poke that in.
[89:23] had it just mishit it just closed at the
[89:25] right time.
[89:27] [Music]
[89:28] >> So we're taking a kick from further up
[89:30] the field here.
[89:32] >> Yeah, I don't know.
[89:35] Not really sure why on this. I don't
[89:36] think there would be off sides anywhere
[89:38] on that.
[89:39] >> Not from where that run was.
[89:43] Not really understanding the placement
[89:44] of that ball, but we play on.
[89:47] >> About 15 minutes left in this second
[89:49] half. Good body by Ruby Bower. They're
[89:52] going to call it though. Again, a little
[89:54] bit of a delayed call. We've seen a
[89:55] couple of those today.
[89:58] Number 17 walking a little gingerly.
[90:01] That's Genvie Low.
[90:08] Good touch by the Tigers here. Kaylee
[90:12] Geese up to Fiona Meyers.
[90:15] Meyers going to swing it all the way
[90:16] over to Grace Brocks.
[90:20] Brocks loses touch. It's going to be a
[90:22] Tigers ball.
[90:25] All right, you're going to see a lot of
[90:26] subs coming on for the Tigers here. And
[90:28] this is a good time to talk about
[90:29] community television. We need your help
[90:31] saving community TV. With more and more
[90:34] people cutting cable each day, funding
[90:36] for community TV stations is in rapid
[90:37] decline. To help keep these games on the
[90:40] air, we need your support. To learn more
[90:42] about how you can get involved, head to
[90:44] save community.com. And for more
[90:46] information, consider leaving a donation
[90:48] at hast hastingsv.org/donate.
[90:53] >> We've talked about this a lot of our
[90:54] other broadcasts, like the the job that
[90:55] that Hastings TV does with with
[90:58] broadcasting these games and recording
[90:59] them. Um, you know, for family who lives
[91:02] out of state or um if you have kids in
[91:04] multiple events, you obviously can't
[91:06] make it to everything. Um, just a great
[91:08] service they provide the community
[91:10] >> and we're spoiled here in Hastings to
[91:12] have Hunter and his gang
[91:13] >> Oh.
[91:14] >> broadcasting these games. Look how many
[91:16] calls we get wrong until Hunter fixes us
[91:18] with a with a
[91:18] >> I mean that's that's really the reason
[91:19] why we have him right on replay because
[91:21] we need his help. Oh, good ball there by
[91:23] Caitlyn Wood. Ruby Bowers got a little
[91:24] bit of space but closes quick.
[91:25] >> Oh,
[91:26] >> Bard took one off the head there.
[91:27] Hopefully she's okay.
[91:29] >> Tavia Graph on it. She's chasing. See if
[91:31] she can get to this ball. Good slide
[91:33] tackle again. Graph still on it.
[91:37] >> Throw here.
[91:38] >> Hopefully Bower's okay. She's holding
[91:39] her head. She got hit in the side of the
[91:41] face.
[91:44] Looks like they're going to call a sub
[91:46] off for Bower.
[91:47] >> Always good to check these kind of
[91:48] things. You know, hit the head can be
[91:50] kind of a weird injury that way. Always
[91:52] want to be certain on those. See,
[91:54] they're going to put Ellie Magnus in. Is
[91:56] that who that is coming in?
[91:58] >> Looks like that's that's the case.
[92:00] >> So, they're going to slide Ellie Magnus
[92:02] up to forward. Let one of their senior
[92:04] captains run onto it. That's a good
[92:05] choice.
[92:06] >> Yep.
[92:07] >> She's not scored tonight. Had a lot of
[92:09] action though. A lot of assists.
[92:12] might not feel good if you're playing in
[92:13] the center of the the Tigers defense,
[92:17] >> but again, we talk about
[92:18] interchangeability. Ruby Bower has been
[92:20] pushing that line up there, right? Just,
[92:22] you know, even on the deflection, right,
[92:23] that hitter there, like being right
[92:24] place, right, right time turned into an
[92:27] opportunity for Graph because you're
[92:29] playing good uh pursuit soccer.
[92:32] >> Tavia Graph on the ball again.
[92:34] >> A little bit of a mishit as she plays it
[92:35] up off of her left foot and up.
[92:41] It's updated score we got from Towns
[92:43] Square TV who broadcast the Simley game.
[92:45] It was still one- nothing last time we
[92:46] checked. Highland Park with the lead.
[92:49] >> Tight game.
[92:50] >> Our man Hunter is going to update us
[92:51] update us on the score as we continue on
[92:53] in this game.
[92:56] >> I don't think the Raiders really care
[92:57] who they play. Obviously there's some
[92:59] familiarity there with Simley.
[93:01] >> That's it does give you one advantage,
[93:02] right?
[93:03] >> Grace Brock's taking off. Man, she shot
[93:04] it like a rocket. She's got a chance to
[93:06] score here. See if Brocks can put it in.
[93:08] Oh,
[93:09] >> what a great run by Grace Brocks.
[93:11] >> Few few of the defenders getting some
[93:13] good looks here.
[93:14] >> See that again. Shot out of a rocket,
[93:15] blew past defenders. Brocks with that
[93:17] last touch just a little bit wide on
[93:20] that last right footed shot. You can see
[93:22] the athleticism though on display.
[93:24] Brocks a track athlete, player that
[93:27] plays kind of all over the field for her
[93:28] club team. She didn't look like a
[93:30] defender there, that's for sure.
[93:34] >> Oh, another call here. maybe possible
[93:36] handball that did bounce up to Clare
[93:38] Montgomery's hand.
[93:40] >> You can see what coach Armstrong likes
[93:42] out of his soccer players, athletes and
[93:44] speed. And he's got them all over the
[93:45] field
[93:46] >> and the willingness to run into some of
[93:47] that contact, right? Not shying away. Um
[93:50] playing good contact to the ball
[93:54] >> as we play on. There's 11 minutes left
[93:55] in this game.
[93:58] >> Santa Maria on it. Plays it up to Kelly
[94:01] or excuse me, Wood
[94:03] >> making a nice cut inside there. wants to
[94:04] be part of the party here. She cuts it
[94:06] back. Let's see if she goes to her
[94:07] preferred right foot. Plays it over to
[94:09] Jersey.
[94:11] Ellie Magnus on it now falls to appert a
[94:13] little bit wide. But I love the
[94:16] confidence by graph just like I'm going
[94:18] to I'm going to do the same thing that
[94:19] Grace Brock did.
[94:23] Graph another quick player too that you
[94:25] don't often see in the score sheet, but
[94:26] she gives a lot of energy out there.
[94:28] Well, so if you're look again, you're
[94:29] looking if you're the next opponent to
[94:32] be coming in to face the Raiders
[94:34] again, that interchangeability means you
[94:36] can't key off and try to stop one person
[94:39] because somebody else will will make you
[94:41] pay for that.
[94:42] >> Well, and and you bring in fresh legs
[94:44] and all of a sudden run at the
[94:45] defenders. It gets pretty taxing quick.
[94:50] >> Mahoney all the way over to Brocks.
[94:54] Brocks tries to play it up. Good ball to
[94:55] Clare Montgomery. She's on side to see
[94:57] what she decides to do here. She can
[94:59] take it to goal. She swings it across.
[95:01] >> I like that take there. Right. Test
[95:03] again that near side. See if the
[95:05] keeper's more worried about the cross
[95:06] and plays off a bit.
[95:07] >> The goalie was all over it though. I
[95:08] mean that she took the right angle on
[95:09] that. Montgomery may want that one back
[95:11] a little bit. Maybe a little bit of a
[95:13] misit.
[95:14] There's Mahoney. Tries to clear it up.
[95:18] All right. Updated score on the Simley
[95:20] Highland Park game is one to one.
[95:25] So Similly getting on the board here.
[95:26] Here's Caitlyn Wood on the ball again. A
[95:27] little bit long with her first touch.
[95:29] >> Hunters at 37 minutes left in that one.
[95:31] So
[95:31] >> there's time,
[95:32] >> little bit of time left from that game.
[95:34] Almost a half here.
[95:35] >> Good turn on the ball by Jersey Abbert.
[95:37] Boy, she Oh, what a great
[95:39] >> Montgomery making that run a long time
[95:41] ago. She saw that coming and made a
[95:42] perfect run.
[95:43] >> She's got some time here. What's she
[95:44] going to do? She plays it across. Tries
[95:46] to link it up with Ellie. Field goes
[95:48] good, but a little bit
[95:49] >> just a hard turn to make there.
[95:51] >> Yeah,
[95:52] >> came back for it. Oh,
[95:53] >> she had some time on that, but I'm not
[95:54] sure if she felt like she had to rush
[95:56] that or not.
[95:59] >> Magnus had some time. She had no
[96:01] defender by her, but felt like she
[96:02] needed to go one time on that. I
[96:03] understand that.
[96:04] >> And it it's a good practice run kind of
[96:07] to take on that because you may need to
[96:09] get that shot off late here or fast here
[96:11] in a week or so.
[96:12] >> I think she just wanted to give her
[96:13] brother behind the net some balls. Give
[96:15] him some action.
[96:16] >> That's what she was really aiming for.
[96:17] >> Yeah, her brother was looking a little
[96:19] bored, so she was trying to give him
[96:20] some action maybe. Here's Grace Brocks
[96:22] again. See if he's a wake back.
[96:23] >> They're going to call a foul. It will be
[96:25] the Raiders ball. Man, Grace Brocks
[96:27] doing some nice things from that outside
[96:29] defense mode that positions, excuse me.
[96:32] And see Brocks again shoots out like a
[96:34] cannon. Little side step runs into the
[96:36] defender.
[96:37] >> Well, like you noted too, like she plays
[96:39] a number of different positions for a
[96:41] club team. Like is there a need for her
[96:43] in a different spot next year with
[96:44] obviously a lot of seniors moving on?
[96:46] So, it's hard to know too. Um I have not
[96:49] covered the the JB side for the girls as
[96:51] well to know um what their other options
[96:53] are kind of in that back line.
[96:55] >> Santa Maria tries to play it up. Falls
[96:57] at Wood's feet. See if Caitlin can do
[96:59] something with this. You know the JV did
[97:02] have four freshman play up with them
[97:03] this year. So they did bring up quite a
[97:05] few. A couple who were pretty key
[97:07] players for them. So we'll see what they
[97:09] do next year. They might bring some of
[97:10] those players up.
[97:13] >> It's hard to know until you have your
[97:14] kind of your whole pool of players
[97:16] sitting in front of you. Yeah,
[97:18] >> and Kids Evolve, right? I mean, they
[97:20] grow.
[97:21] >> Uh, they play different positions for
[97:23] their club team. Good. Well done there
[97:24] by La Mahoney. I don't think Mahoney or
[97:27] Geon have sat one time during this game.
[97:30] >> You know, for the way they've played,
[97:32] um, one thing, they've played really
[97:34] smart, so they haven't had to make a ton
[97:36] of those runs. We saw Geon with a long
[97:37] run before. Um, you know, they've played
[97:40] really smart. So, if you can keep your
[97:42] center backs on the field and they're
[97:43] and they're having a good night, um, as
[97:45] a coach, I know I like to keep them out
[97:46] there if we can.
[97:48] >> All right, so Caitlyn Wood look a little
[97:49] hunched over there. Hope she's okay. She
[97:51] kind of a little collision. Might just
[97:52] be tired. She's kind of played all over
[97:55] the place. Not used to playing that
[97:56] center mid roll.
[98:01] >> Fiona Myers has some space here. Let's
[98:03] see what she decides to do. She plays it
[98:04] through to her friend Ellie.
[98:07] >> Can't link up though.
[98:11] It's a good run by their defender.
[98:13] >> Tries to link up with Gatis. It'll go
[98:15] run out of bounds and
[98:17] >> it is a Tigers ball with seven minutes
[98:19] left.
[98:21] >> Tigers still pushing here. Good. That's
[98:22] a They're a no quit team, that's for
[98:24] sure.
[98:26] >> Lot of high school fans here tonight.
[98:27] It's been great to see good turnout for
[98:29] the Raiders as they put nine in the back
[98:32] of the net. That's always even more fun
[98:33] to entertain the fans that way.
[98:36] >> You're for your casual fans especially,
[98:38] right? Seeing a lot of goals is the
[98:39] exciting part.
[98:40] >> Yeah, that's sometimes the complaint of
[98:42] non-s soccer fans is, well, it's a one-
[98:43] nothing game. It's not entertaining.
[98:45] Well, if you did if you came tonight,
[98:46] you got your got your money's worth
[98:52] >> all the way up to Tavia Graph. Graph up
[98:54] to Santa Maria. Runs out of bounds.
[98:56] It'll be a Tigers throwing.
[99:04] Big night here at Todd Field. Our FCA is
[99:08] going to be th be holding the hosting,
[99:09] excuse me, the uh Fields of Faith
[99:11] tonight and then tomorrow night there'll
[99:12] be a football game against Burnsville.
[99:14] So there's going to be a lot of action
[99:15] here at Todd Field. This is just the
[99:17] start of a lot of things to come.
[99:19] >> Week, right?
[99:19] >> Very busy week.
[99:23] 19 shots on goal for the Raiders to five
[99:25] of the Twin Cities Academy. at his
[99:28] concert was actually pretty long.
[99:30] >> You know, they talked about uh with
[99:32] their coach this kind of being their
[99:33] redemption tour this year, how they've
[99:35] been able to beat teams that they've
[99:38] lost to in years past. This is a team
[99:39] that's or a program that's been building
[99:41] every single year. Um if they can
[99:43] continue that momentum, you never know,
[99:45] right? Couple years they could be
[99:47] battling for a section crown.
[99:48] >> And we're talking about some young
[99:49] players, right? We're mentioning a lot
[99:50] here. Um you know, I know they got a lot
[99:52] of credit for their seniors, right?
[99:54] balancing them through this transition
[99:55] time and um and now some young players
[99:58] maybe coming into their own could be a
[99:59] very good team down the road.
[100:03] >> Well, and you know, like they like the
[100:05] coach said, they had four girls that
[100:06] transferred in and anytime you can get
[100:08] new fresh blood, you know, that's a good
[100:11] thing for your program, getting more
[100:13] bodies in there and girls talk, right?
[100:15] If if they're having fun and they want
[100:17] to get other players to come to their
[100:18] school,
[100:19] >> you never know what can happen,
[100:21] especially with a charter school
[100:22] situation. they have that luxury of
[100:24] potentially adding players.
[100:28] >> Now, most of these Hastings Raiders um
[100:30] are from Hastings, born and raised,
[100:32] played for HFC soccer, which is our club
[100:34] here in Hastings. So, it's been pretty
[100:36] fun for them. Girls that have been
[100:37] together for a long, long time to find
[100:39] the success that they have.
[100:42] >> Caitlyn Wood getting clipped again there
[100:43] like
[100:44] >> and Caitlyn Wood has been
[100:45] >> She's still doing all right.
[100:47] >> Up in this game, that is for sure
[100:51] >> here. See a lot of subs coming on for
[100:53] the Tigers. Some fresh faces we haven't
[100:56] necessarily seen yet.
[101:03] >> The one consistent player that's been
[101:05] out there has been their center defender
[101:06] again.
[101:08] And Chop saying, "Check out." She I
[101:10] don't think she's had a breather all
[101:11] game. And boy, she's needed it. I mean,
[101:13] she's had to work hard all game long.
[101:14] >> Yeah, she's in a tall order here with uh
[101:16] some of these Raiders up top here really
[101:18] pushing that back line. Cool to see Ruby
[101:21] Bower back out there. I was a little
[101:22] worried she got bumped in the head by
[101:23] that clearance of the ball by the
[101:25] Tigers. And she's okay. She's back on
[101:27] the field. They checked her out. She's
[101:28] back at it.
[101:30] >> Always good to see. Want to see that as
[101:31] quick as possible.
[101:35] >> All right. Balls back at Kaylee Gon's
[101:37] feet up to Fiona Myers. Myers all the
[101:40] way over to Brocks. Brocks to see she's
[101:43] got some space. She want to take it
[101:44] here.
[101:46] >> Good look. Just runs out of bounds a
[101:48] little bit wide.
[101:50] Tell Brocks was trying to decide, do I
[101:52] attempt to make this run? She's had some
[101:53] success.
[101:54] >> How much space do I have? Right.
[101:55] >> I know. It's tempting, right? You find
[101:57] that success one time, you feel like you
[101:58] can take on anyone.
[102:01] >> Just under four minutes left here for
[102:03] the Raiders.
[102:05] >> Score line not really in doubt.
[102:13] >> Something in those stakes is probably
[102:14] good.
[102:15] >> Pretty cool for the Tigers though to
[102:16] make it this far and find so much
[102:18] success. I know that the score line is
[102:20] not what they're wanting today, but to
[102:22] finish the season with 14 wins and find
[102:24] so much success in their conference,
[102:25] winning their conference, it's been a
[102:27] big season for them. It's been a turning
[102:29] point in this Twin Cities Academy soccer
[102:31] program.
[102:32] >> And you the Raiders have been that spot,
[102:33] too, where you have a a good season in
[102:35] your conference and you just you play in
[102:36] a tough section
[102:37] >> and and for the Tigers, right, that's
[102:39] what they're seeing here. Um, but
[102:41] obviously, like you said, that that
[102:42] phenomenal record 14-2 is does not
[102:45] happen by accident. A lot of hard work,
[102:47] a lot of development, a lot of growth
[102:49] from those players.
[102:50] >> Nicely done by Grace Brocks as she
[102:51] possesses the ball again. Not afraid to
[102:54] take a run. Here's Fiona Myers. Back to
[102:56] Brocks. Brock wants it. Brocks wants to
[102:58] take it. Fiona Myers again. Tries to
[103:01] slide it through. Ruby Bowers is on
[103:02] side. She's got some got some space. See
[103:04] if Bower can bury this.
[103:07] And back of the net for Ruby Bower.
[103:09] >> Nice to see a player get a little dinged
[103:10] up here. Have some some contact. Come
[103:13] out and just finish a beautiful ball
[103:15] there. Good for Ruby Bower. Gets the
[103:17] goal.
[103:19] Gets the 10th goal for number 10. Ruby
[103:23] Bower buries it in the back of the net.
[103:24] All smiles. Raiders feeling good about
[103:26] themselves. Rightly so,
[103:28] >> and and Ruby's going to be somebody they
[103:30] want to see next year, right? Filling in
[103:32] some of that goal scoring capability.
[103:34] Uh, obviously we're seeing it on display
[103:35] here, but um continuing that next year
[103:38] as she um comes back for the Raiders.
[103:40] >> Cool, calm, and collected as she buries
[103:42] that in the back of the net. Raiders
[103:43] take a 10-2 lead with 90 seconds left in
[103:46] the game.
[103:50] We will not have a goal recap at the
[103:52] conclusion of this game, but we will
[103:54] talk about some of the seniors from both
[103:55] squads. Give them a little shout out. I
[103:58] know for uh Twin Cities Academy program,
[104:00] this is going to be their senior's last
[104:02] game of the year. Good shot attempt, a
[104:04] little bit high. Um this was probably
[104:06] going to be our la last broadcast of the
[104:08] year for us as well. Also, we want to
[104:09] make sure we give a shout out to our
[104:10] seniors who've done so much for our
[104:12] Hastings soccer program. They're going
[104:14] to be sorely missed. I know having a
[104:16] daughter who's a middle schooler who
[104:17] looks up to these girls. She can't wait
[104:19] to come to every home game.
[104:21] >> It's it's a fun group to watch, right?
[104:22] You tell we talked about the Tigers
[104:24] before. You can tell they're having fun.
[104:26] You can tell they play well for each
[104:27] other. Um that's always good to see as a
[104:29] team.
[104:30] >> It's Gatis on the ball again. Oh, so
[104:32] dangerous with the ball.
[104:38] Good step to the ball there by Olivia
[104:40] Lavine. Santa Maria just clears it up.
[104:42] Bower chasing again. See if she turns on
[104:44] the burners. She's got wheels.
[104:48] Bower taking on the whole defensive line
[104:50] of the Tigers.
[104:52] This ball goes out of bounds with 30
[104:54] seconds left.
[104:56] >> Bower's played well today. She's she's
[104:58] been aggressive. She's been uh
[105:00] opportunistic.
[105:01] >> Seams there, right? And taking the right
[105:02] line on a ball.
[105:03] >> Smart play.
[105:08] All right, so with 15 seconds left, this
[105:10] is all going to wrap up
[105:12] >> this last home game that we're going to
[105:14] be broadcasting here for the Raiders
[105:16] >> as they're going to finish off this game
[105:18] with a 10-2 score line. Raiders take the
[105:21] win. They'll move on to the section
[105:23] semifinals where we await the opponent.
[105:25] We'll find out an update from Hunter in
[105:27] just a second hopefully as we figure out
[105:30] if you're going to play St. Paul
[105:31] Highland Park or the Simly Spartans.
[105:33] Hey, let's give a shout out really quick
[105:35] to the seniors of the Twin Cities
[105:38] Academy. Uh there's several of them.
[105:41] First off, we're going to talk about
[105:42] Precia Rathor, one of their captains. We
[105:45] also want to talk about Soph Sophia
[105:48] Mudashir. We also want to give a shout
[105:50] out to Oshan Chops Czech. We've talked
[105:53] about her a lot. She's been a star star
[105:56] for them at Center D. Also, their
[105:58] goalie, Mariana Jors.
[106:00] Also, Ariana Santa Maria Perez, their
[106:03] 12th grade forward. And then the last
[106:05] senior is Adrina Enaling, a forward
[106:08] midfielder number 24. For the Raiders,
[106:11] we want to give a shout out for our
[106:12] seniors as well. Oh, I missed one more
[106:14] to Summit Hustleman, the 12th grade
[106:16] defender. We've also missed her as well.
[106:19] For the Raiders, let's give a shout out
[106:20] to our seniors. Caitlyn Wood, the
[106:22] defender who was all over the field
[106:23] tonight. Ellie Lavine, the hat-tick
[106:25] scorer, number six. Laya Mahoney, the
[106:28] center defender, who's been a stalwart,
[106:30] rock solid back there. Jersey Appert,
[106:32] who's been all over the field as a
[106:34] forward and midfielder. Olivia Ericson,
[106:36] who scored a goal tonight at midfield,
[106:38] one of the captains, along with Kaylee
[106:39] Geon, the other center defender. Fiona
[106:41] Meyers, who got significant time as a
[106:43] midfielder. Also Ellie Magnus, who
[106:46] played all over the field tonight, the
[106:48] sprinster out on the outside. And then
[106:50] Tavia Graph, the uh defender/midfielder.
[106:53] Lots of seniors for these Raiders. You
[106:55] can see the bracket really quick. Still
[106:57] waiting the top side of the bracket,
[106:58] either Holy Angels or Richfield, Creton
[107:00] Durham Hall or South St. Paul. But the
[107:01] one that the Raiders are circling is the
[107:04] winner of the Simly Highland Park
[107:06] matchup. Either way, the Raiders will
[107:08] host a game on Saturday at 100 p.m. And
[107:12] I think the Raiders have to feel pretty
[107:13] good about whoever they play moving
[107:15] forward.
[107:15] >> Well, and I think they have good reason
[107:16] to. Right. You come in tonight, again,
[107:18] we don't always know how these match ups
[107:20] are going to look when you're playing
[107:22] teams who've not played common
[107:23] opponents. uh but to come in to take
[107:25] care of business, settle in and really
[107:27] get a chance to work on some of those
[107:29] offensive measures during a live game.
[107:31] Um they have to feel great about how
[107:33] this wound up here tonight.
[107:34] >> Yeah. And we will try to cover the
[107:36] section finals if the Raiders do make
[107:39] it. My hope is that we are hosting a
[107:41] Raiders section finals. If not though,
[107:43] we're going to try to cover it. Um it
[107:45] would be an amazing thing for these
[107:46] Raiders. They've never made it to a
[107:48] section finals game before. This could
[107:49] be the year that they do it. Here's some
[107:51] other upcoming broadcasts. volleyball or
[107:53] soccer on the 14th depending on what
[107:55] happens. On the 21st, they'll cover the
[107:57] football sections. That's to be
[107:58] determined about who they're going to
[108:00] play. On the 25th, it'll either be a
[108:02] football or a volleyball section game.
[108:04] And then on the 31st, Halloween night,
[108:06] football section finals if that was to
[108:09] happen. So, lot lot of that would be
[108:11] pretty awesome on Halloween, right?
[108:12] >> Yep. That would be fun.
[108:13] >> A lot of Raider athletics coming your
[108:15] way. Can't wait to see what the month of
[108:17] October looks like. Let's give a shout
[108:19] out to Hunter Pinky, the producer,
[108:21] director, graphics replay, the guy that
[108:23] does it all. I'm not sure if he sleeps
[108:25] at all. The camera operators and Max
[108:27] Sloum, Ian Andersonac, and Tory Selner.
[108:30] Shout out to our sponsors in the
[108:31] Schoolhouse and Culver's. I'm Kyle
[108:33] Kryser. As always, joined by Jeremy
[108:35] Rutder. Jeremy, it's been another fun
[108:37] year of soccer.
[108:38] >> If you get a chance to come out Saturday
[108:40] and watch this team, you don't want to
[108:42] miss it.
[108:42] >> No, they're fun to watch. They're going
[108:44] to pack the stands, and I'm excited to
[108:45] see what happens. Thanks again fans for
[108:47] tuning in. We'll see you next time.
[108:52] [Music]
