We're very excited to have that [0:25] going so friends and family from far [0:26] away can still enjoy our music [0:29] performances. Uh tonight, what I would [0:31] love to do is send you through a journey [0:33] of what we've been up to the past 4 [0:35] months. So, you may or may not have been [0:38] keeping tabs on your child, just seeing [0:39] where they're at with their musical [0:41] journey. We've been doing a lot and [0:44] we're going to show you exactly all of [0:45] the things that we have been learning [0:47] over the course of this very short [0:49] amount of time. All right. So, without [0:51] further ado, we are going to show you [0:53] what we started our learning with. After [0:55] we started picking up our instrument, [0:57] kind of figuring out how it works, how [0:59] we hold it, where we put it, all that [1:01] kind of stuff. We started making some [1:02] sounds. So, we use just our open strings [1:05] just to make some beautiful music. We're [1:07] going to show you three songs that are [1:09] just going to use our open strings. [1:11] Please feel free to clap in between [1:12] them. When we press down the string [4:00] with our fingers, we able to get a bunch [4:01] of different notes. So, here are going [4:04] to be another set of songs that are [4:06] incorporating us using our left hand to [4:08] add even more notes to our repertoire. A [11:59] lot of that music incorporated adding [12:01] our fingers onto the string. You [12:02] probably heard way more notes than just [12:04] the open strings, right? We're going [12:06] across strings, back and forth. You [12:08] know, we got to really push down those [12:10] strings. And it took us a while to [12:11] really get the strength in our fingers [12:13] to be able to make that well-rounded [12:15] sound. Um, some of these students went [12:17] above and beyond and they memorized [12:19] those solos so that they could perform [12:21] them for you. Didn't they do a really [12:23] nice job? [applause and cheering] [12:29] [applause] [12:29] After we worked so hard getting those [12:31] fingers on the instrument, making a good [12:33] sound, being really confident and [12:35] comfortable with this instrument, we [12:36] then added the next tool, the bow. Now, [12:40] our instruments are so unique in that we [12:42] use an extraneous tool to make that [12:45] sound on our instruments. So, when we [12:47] started using it, it was a little bit [12:49] weird. It was a little bit awkward. We [12:50] were like, "Wo, this is completely [12:51] different than anything we've been [12:52] doing." We were plucking the strings [12:53] before, Mr. Sandville. Now, we have to [12:55] like move our arm. That's kind of weird. [12:58] So, when we started using the bow, we [13:00] made some very interesting sounds. Um, [13:03] some of you might even remember those [13:05] sounds when you had them at your house. [13:08] It may have sounded something like this. [13:12] [music] [13:17] [music] [13:19] >> Does that sound familiar? [13:21] >> You're like, I remember that sound. [13:24] Don't worry, we practiced. We got [13:27] better, I promise. Um, and kind of bringing us [13:36] into that next level, that next step [13:39] that we're going to be working on, um, [13:40] coordinating our left hand with our [13:43] right hand. Can we make sure that we're [13:44] getting the right notes, but also moving [13:46] our arm at the right speed to get the [13:48] cleanest and the best sound that we have [13:51] possible?
