I'm Kelly Pine senior Watershed specialist with the Vermillion River Watershed and here to give you an update on the results from the invasive fish removals we conducted on East Lake this year in 2023
This year of removals was very successful with a total of 2,798 lbs of carpon goldfish removed bringing the the lake invasive fish biomass down to 89.9 lb per acre which is below the 100 lb per acre Mark at which negative water quality impacts are seen
Staff have discussed additional measures to improve water quality in the lake including native aquatic plant transplanting and stocking of predatory fish to increase the recreational value of the lake
