The Council considered the abatement of a dead cottonwood tree on private property that was leaning over a sidewalk and street, posing a public nuisance. The estimated removal cost exceeded the $3,000 threshold, triggering a resolution and hearing as per city code section 4-1-8. The property owner was in agreement and would sign a right of entry, with costs to be certified to their taxes over five years. A Council member questioned if the $3,000 threshold for such abatements should be re-evaluated due to rising costs.

Item 6L is a resolution accepting donations to the parks and recreation department. Mr. Many Archin mentioned the 22,000 from the friends of the arts center. And then but the in total the donations this quarter were $40,000.
I know we've probably stated this before, but item 6H uh is approving the agreement for the new playground at Lakeville Art Area Arts Center. And I think it's worth mentioning again that that is in part due to a $90,000 uh contribution from QA1. So I just want to thank them again for being able to contribute that for that playground.

Our staff has been um working with the property owner about this removal. Um there's a couple sections within the city code that allow us to abate when we have a public nuisance such as this.
everything keeps getting more and more expensive. Do you is this something that we have to look at the ordinance to see if it's we need to raise it up or I mean I am just really curious is this what the cost of tree removal is coming out to be.
