[0:07] the city of Lakeville held a [0:08] groundbreaking for the first responder [0:10] skills Training Center a regional Public [0:13] Safety Training Facility that will help [0:15] ensure our safety personnel have the [0:17] highest degree of training possible to [0:19] serve the public with construction to be [0:22] completed by the summer of 2026 first [0:24] want to extend uh my gratitude to [0:27] representative witty and representative [0:28] kosnik who are out here uh and Senator [0:31] Duckworth who really helped make a lot [0:33] of it happen on the state side to secure [0:35] nearly $8 million two years ago to uh [0:38] really Kickstart this program this is [0:40] something that the fire department and [0:41] police department has thought about for [0:43] a long time to think about what a new uh [0:45] training facility would look like and so [0:46] the council has been thinking about how [0:48] do we make that happen um from a [0:49] financial side of things but um their [0:52] help and then including with [0:54] congresswoman Craig securing money for [0:55] the engineering um really made this [0:58] happen and I think from my perspective [1:00] on behalf of the council when this [1:02] building opens um after construction I [1:06] think it really reinforces our [1:07] commitment as a council and to the city [1:09] about how Public Safety is our number [1:11] one priority I think a lot of people say [1:13] that um and not just from a Lakeville [1:16] standpoint but this is a regional [1:18] facility as everybody knows and um the [1:21] future for Public Safety is going to [1:23] require cities and counties working [1:26] together when we think about making sure [1:27] we have Staffing levels that are correct [1:29] and we've got all the training levels [1:30] that are needed of course it's been an [1:32] honor to be able to fight for federal [1:33] funding both for the first center which [1:36] I'm honored that we were able to get [1:38] that's the kind of community that we [1:40] have it's just embedded in what we do [1:42] and uh putting together the funds for a [1:46] phenomenal training facility in [1:48] combination with the city in combination [1:50] with representative Craig and her help [1:51] at the federal level is the absolute [1:53] least we can do so from the bottom of my [1:55] heart thank all of you and your families [1:57] and your loved ones for the service you [1:59] provide us here in Lakeville and the [2:01] surrounding communities we want you safe [2:03] we want you well trained we want you [2:05] going home to your families at night so [2:07] thank you so much [2:09] [Music]
